Re: OOC discussions

For replenishing rune points, a Sanctified area is no worse than a major temple.

The rules for replenishing are very clear (p. 315). Nobody replenishes anything if it's not a holy day or sacred time. Associated cults only replenishes on high or seasonal holy days.

Also note that you must make a succesful Worship-roll and sacrifice at least 2 magic points to replenish.

Please wait with the rolls until I ask you to roll.

Syssiah's occupational and cult skills are Courtesan, Lore (Uleria), Dance, Read/Write (Theyalan), Orate, Manage Household, Sing, Worship (Uleria), and Meditate.

Re: OOC discussions

Would anyone mind if I changed this posting rule: "Please use third person, past tense: The GM stood up and laughed heartily."?

I think I formulated that rule as a test, but I find it unintuitive for my own writing. I'd like to change it to "third person, present tense: The GM stands up and laughs heartily."

I prefer present tense.  I have found writing in past tense the whole time to be a bit trying.

It's not really important to me, but I can see the point in having (almost) all posts in the same format. Slipping now and then doesn't matter to me.

Re: OOC discussions

Several things have been addressed in the OCC while I was drowning in work that I would like to chime in on, too.

Experience Checks
Please explain the “pick four occupational or cult skills to get an experience check” again.
When do we pick and when do we roll ?
This obviously (p.416) only applies if the adventuring took less than half a season.
Since we set out on 37th Earth and the season has 56 days I take it this does apply.
Naturally, the respective skill must have the box for experience check in the first place, e.g. you cannot take Spirit Lore.
Also, have there been any skills we may check from the battle or aftermath ?
Since you are not allowed to pick those skills either.
E.g. I already had a check for Broadsword, so I cannot take Broadsword skill for those four picks.

POW gain rolls
Let me get this straight.
We only get a POW gain roll if it’s the High Holy Day of the respective chosen cult or Sacred Time, right ? That High cannot be stressed enough ! Further, there must be a holy site. Well, unless one is already a presiding official… which I seriously doubt. Then again, we already have a thane among us, so… I guess everything is possible.

Rune Points Recovery
Naturally we are not all Orlanth worshippers. Or more specifically: only few of us have dedicated their respective Rune Points to Orlanth.
As per the info given in the “Player Characters” thread, none have ^^
So no recovery of Rune Points in an Orlanth ceremony for any of us, unless we have one has a specific Rune Point dedicated to Orlanth, e.g. if Harmast were to have the Flight from the associated cult of Orlanth Adventurous.
So no benefit – rules-wise – but I’ll gladly join any Orlanth ceremony for role-play reasons.

Can I assume someone has healed my wound (1 HP on right arm), via magic or first aid, since the battle or should I check up natural recovery ?
p.56:
the healing rate determines how many hit points are recovered in each hit location at the end of each week through natural healing.
The question here is whetehr travelling is a strenuous activity or not. If it is then I not natural healing has occured. Otherwise I should be backto health on 54th Earth

You pick and roll "in between adventures" once a season. You don't have to be afraid of missing out if you forget something, I will ask you to do it when it's time.

Yes. As you've not returned home yet I don't know if it will apply.

quote:

That's correct.

I made a mistake after the defence of Apple Lane and let you roll before the end of the season. It's no big deal, but normally you only roll skill checks once per season. If you rolled for a skill after Apple Lane you will not get a second roll next end of season.

I keep a record of skill checks for all characters.

You can only roll for a skill once per season, so no use in picking a skill you already have a check in.

Now I have to go and work a little, will continue with the other questions in a little while.

Correct. Game mechanics wise it would be rather problematic - in my opinion - with POW going up like a rocket.

You are all fully healed after the battle. Sorry I missed that.

Re: OOC discussions

I've always presumed that the POW gain roll is high holy days as well. I assume regular weekly or seasonal holy days are good for getting back Rune points and sacrificing for new spells if you're at the right place.

We're adventurers. I am sure there will be opportunities to cast Disruption spells and get involved in Spirit Combat aplenty.

You're not all Initiates of Orlanth, but probably Lay Members. Ulina thinks everyone should be, but that's her :P

I believe that you'd get the associate rate for Rune points on the high holy day of Storm/Wind/Mobility, and of course at Sacred Time, but no other times. I'll check.

That sounds reasonable to me, but of course, the GM's thinking prevails.

Being that Ulina is all about that Storm Tribe unity, she'll happily participate in Ernalda, Lightbringer and Humakt worshippers, even if no power gain rolls or magic is involved. She feels that the Heortling gods should be supported whenever possible. She'll definitely have votive statues (of the non-rune point granting variety) of Ernalda, Vinga, Issaries and the other Lightbringers, Humakt and even Uleria in her wagon.

I think Ulina may even develop a craft skill so she can make these things herself!

Re: OOC discussions

Hah.
I took a pregen, I have no spells that pit my POW vs another so no POW gain rolls for me.
I will gladly accept being taught Disruption ^^

I think Rune Point recovery is solely dependent on the Cult and not on the Rune itself.
It would indeed be iontrigueing to get back Rune Points in any associate Movement/Harmony Cult.
Interesting idea, not sure if it's RAW, haven't checked RQG much lately.

I think the list only names those Cults we are Initiates in. Lay Membership for all Lightbringers is... Default I guess ?

Show up, pay your clacks and you're in. In my games I houserule on a successful Worship roll you get a +10% on one of that god's runes for a week (thus, an incentive to go to worship ceremonies for Lay people), but that's me, and not how the GM does it here.

I'd urge getting Disrupt or Demoralize ASAP. I plan on lots of little zaps next adventure.

Also, you're entitled (in this game, from my understanding) to two Power gain rolls every year - at your cult's high holy day, and at Sacred Time.

I don't think Initiates can teach Spirit Magic, but at Clearwine I don't think it would be that big of a deal to find a priest or shaman who could teach it. Rune Lords can even teach Spirit Magic now in RQG.
