In reply to Narrator (msg # 63):

Can we have a geopolitical analysis of Basir regarding peace and war with neighbouring nations? :)
Pekal, Kalamar, Tokis, etc.
In particular, I need to know if Esparam has to conceal his Pekalese origin or if he's safe in Basir.

Re: Chit Chat

In reply to Esparam (msg # 64):

He is safe in Basir and its capital. But some people may not like him around - especially in Tokis.
He is Kalamaran Noble by rank and birth. He may or may not be a citizen ? being a citizen means service in the imperial army which is not yet directly involved with the war efforts.

Not sure if you every saw the TV show Rome. Which they fight each other and in massive war and then politically call it something else after it's all done.

Right now Pekal is call is a conflict of independence
And Tokis is calling them traitors to the empire.
The Emperor has not taken a firm position so to leave his interference open
BUT he has orderd all trade too and from Pekal as illegal
"if they wish Independence then lets allow them to support themselves without interference for a time"

I will work out the detail and maybe some of the above could change.

Bottom line your safe for now :)

I check on this and pretty much on the money :)

Re: Chit Chat

below is the link to my site with current an up to date info.

https://sites.google.com/site/...rincipality-of-pekal

I have noticed some sites with added info. I am going by the books and Pekal is rule by a monarch not a senate. and so is Tokis (ruling King).

Both are part of the kalamar empire on paper. Pekal has declared Independence and Tokis has been given the task of getting them back in the fold.

There is 10 years of info to add How it started and were it is now). I will do my best and finish Pekal first then cross reference with Basir and finally finish with Tokis. That should give all player all the info for these areas and make sense of it all.

Re: Chit Chat

In reply to Narrator (msg # 65):

All right, yes, this is what I wanted to know, the Pekal-Tokis war was clear, but not so much Kalamar and the Emperor's point of view.

That helps, thanks! And I assume encountering Tokis citizen in Basir wouldn't be too infrequent as well, so perhaps Esparam should still be on his guard even if Basir is not hostile...

I guess he wouldn't be considered a citizen from a Kalamaran perspective (only from a Pekalese one). He may have served the Pekalese government, but that's a discussion to have in PMs so as to not spoil fellow players :D

Yup that's what I also was thinking for your character.

If you ever saw the HBO show Rome.
Think something like that. The Emperor see this as one of his children stepping out of line and they will see the light.

The war has had some interesting effects, ... that's to play out as we go :)

on demand - HBO site as well.

Every much my basis for Kalarmar
except as emperor not a senate
the environment is very fitting to Kalamar proper.

ALSO Spartacus, .... fits right in there :)

Re: Chit Chat

Hi everyone

some i will add a house rules for crits soon

a natural 20 is always a hit regardless of the DC.
a natural 20 is an auto crit.

every weapon hits and crits on a natural 20.

if you crit with a 18-20 and you bonues etc make a crit then noral to confirm is needed.

i will work on the wording and post in guild for player soon

Re: Chit Chat

OK, so I finished the edits and I think I got the wording right.

So basically a natural 20s hits, does x2 automatic no confirm needed.
And spells to not apply to this rule.
The rest of crit for combat is the same.

There is also a crit for skills etc etc, and a 20 always is a success :)

Re: Chit Chat

Ok, so if I recall right, 20 is an automatic success on every roll except for skills. The house-rule is that skills also benefit from that, correct? Conversely, is a 1 always a fail even if it overcomes the skill DC?

As for weapons, let's say an ax (20/x3). If I roll a natural 20, I am guaranteed a x2 crit, and if I confirm the crit with a second attack roll, then it's "upgraded" to a x3 (and otherwise still a x2 and not a normal attack). Is that correct?

In reply to Esparam (msg # 74):

Thank you for that, YES you are correct on natural 20s (includes saving throws)

Is that what was understood in the post ?? need to edit if you understood or it saw clearly written ?

and with regards to natural 1's YES correct again. I will put that post up as well.
I am also considering Fumble

Re: Chit Chat

In reply to Narrator (msg # 76):

On my end it looks like Catweazle logged in today?

From my experience, it might be beneficial to explain that players have some degree of narrative freedom. I used to play with a GM that took all "narrative power" and the story was exclusively told by him, not the players. Now I play with another GM that is much more about collaborative narration, where players have a say in the story (eg: "you're going to a new country. What kind of country is it, what have your characters heard about it?" and he fleshes the story out from our answers). The transition was fairly weird for me, to now be involved in the narrative process.

All that to say that, I don't know if you have already told them, but perhaps explicitly saying "don't wait for me as the GM to introduce you into the game, post your own introduction yourselves and I'll play along with it" may be necessary for some players. Maybe that's one of the reasons why we haven't heard yet from them?

Re: Chit Chat

I finished entering Catweazle's character sheet.

@Sombre: We need a system to keep track of prepared spells. I like your system but I'm not nerdy enough to replicate it. Can we do something on the character sheets? Maybe there is another way besides the character sheet? Suggestions...

Btw, I ALWAYS have to correct your name because autocorrect keeps changing it to 'Sombrero!'

As you can see with my posts I sometimes miss autocorrected stuff.  ><

Re: Chit Chat

In reply to Thelonius Xander (msg # 80):

I don't really know what to do with spells either. But really that's the case for everything that sees frequent changes, like inventory as well.

SpellForge is easy enough if you want to invest a few minutes getting to know the Excel file (but then you need to take care of hosting it somewhere).

Another solution is what we did back on BMT, which was a dedicated thread where we would keep track of small inventory changes and spells.

À dedicated Pm thread to GM(s) for each character could work too.

And maybe that external website Caladin spoke about earlier has something that could help?

Haha yeah I figure it can be annoying!
Just spell it the American way, I don't mind :p
It comes from my very first nickname on NWN which was in French, anyway

This one appeals to me the most. Its simple enough to do. I'll start a new thread and call it 'Prepared Spells' or something. Thanks dude!
