Re: Character Discussion & Creation

How would noble born apply for a more wild group of Hobgoblin's of the Brindonwood? At least the way I understand them.

Trying to think of what and how that would effect Tarrano as a scout for the army.

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

In reply to RanzarthPhx (msg # 69):

I don't think it would apply at all

If he is a true hobgoblin then he wouldn't care about if the court recognized a claim in his world he has what he has earned. No one can take it away become it becomes part of his honor.

A title is actually worthless in his eyes. No one can be born with honor it has to be earned. So he would actually think that all the nobles who did not see combat are week and even in some cases lesser then him. Regardless if he is called "lord" or anything similar its meaningless.

And they run a chieftain structure so in his circle again its not relevant. BUT if he has been in human culture all his life then he may not even know his heritage so that up too you.

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

In reply to Narrator (msg # 70):

Yeah that was why it was bothering me. I couldn't see how it would effect him really. Unless the humans recognize him as the chieftain's son and creates some clout for him. But he as a hobgoblin would look at them and ask why they do not fight (earn) for their rights to be called a lord, chief, king or what ever noble title they want to take.

Now that is settled though, not considered Noble born. Need to finish up my character.

I agree. Doesn’t fit a true hobgoblin in this setting.

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

I noticed a comment earlier in the thread about a free feat for having served. Does anyone have a link to that, or can confirm it? If so, is it conditional (from a small list or the like), or is it just a free feat from the overall list?

You can change out the druid's name as Catweazle :)

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

Player Characters can have the below feat for free. NPC's or others need to use their class feat and normal creation to pick this feat if they are nobles. Keep in mind to have a tile it is not required but without the feat the social position can be challenged in game.

Noble Birth [General]
You were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, and raised from a young age to represent your family and your social caste.

Prerequisite: Born into a Noble Family

Benefit: Diplomacy and Knowledge (Nobility and Royalty) are always considered class skills for you. Also, if you gain the Leadership feat you receive a +2 to your Leadership score.

Special Notes: In the Kalamar Empire, to be a lawful citizen and receive the rights that come with citizenship you must serve in the Imperial Army. Proof of serves is required in the form of documentation when service is completed. Without citizenship one is subject to the mercy of those who are. Nobles are not exempt from service and have the greatest to loss since land and titles are links to citizenship. This requirment is only in Kalamar and its city-states.

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

I see, so the only free feat available is Noble Birth. I got the impression contextually that the others were talking about a free feat for simply having served in the army, I must have been mistaken.

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

Just checked my old 3.0 KOK book.  So change of gods and go with Lord of Silver Linings.  Thus for domains I will be taking Healing and Renewal.

Sun is a good domain for fighting undead.  The other Domains for the two gods with this domain did not cover healing.  To me healing is far more important then fighting undead.

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

When you say healer do you mean cleric ?? as the class.
I ask because there is a healer class (not sure which book)

Also I do remember a player as a healer/ class cleric that had stuff vs. undead and healing.

Do hobgoblins count as goblinoid for the racial feats? Might be a last minute change on feat selection.

Re: Character Discussion & Creation

FYI

I'm almost done with the Capital and related Kingdom information.
I have started the intro and it will be ready very soon for opening IC posts.

I will add a few more threads like an OCC and the secret "lord & ladies" thread. I will explain more about these thread soon.

So once I have character sheets and info posted and ready we can officially start.
Please keep in mind that we most have the core ready if you what to post. If not ready by Monday that's fine but the other players will get to begin. and this mean you may have to wait for an intro.

Lets set a dead line excluding my royal mess up with a deleted player :(

That by Monday all character sheets will be done and IC will open to start.
