Re: [In-Character Threat] Deciphering Tomorrow

Porgot spends a long moment taking in the enormity of the room, his eyes gleaming. He begins to ascend the walkway, trying to discern what material the object is made of, feeling for whether or not it responds to the touch of the Transfigured One's inspiration.

When he gets to the end of the walkway he lays down on his stomach to get as close as he can to the blue black object, "What are you? For what purpose have you wedged yourself into such a place?"

Re: [In-Character Threat] Deciphering Tomorrow

Attilisk:
Attilisk squats by the end of the hallway and surveys the room, trying to understand the nature of the vast object before (and below) him.  He whistles slowly in appreciation.

The structure below descends at a sharp angle, but not so sharp that someone with good balance and perhaps a rope or three could not climb down it, albeit with great care.  The thing looks curiously... alive is perhaps not the best description, but it seems to be something that should be in motion, caught in stasis. This thing is mean to move and move fast, and through further examination Attilisk thinks he would be able to discover which medium is supposed to be its home.

Casting his eyes over the structure, he notices there is the faintest of lines halfway down, a round swirling that seems to be an access port of some kind, currently shut.

Attilisk's eyes light up as he surveys the structure.  "Now this is why I came exploring!"  He pulls the rope from his pack and begins a search for a good way to anchor it.  "Anyone got more rope?  I think I see a door or something on the side of it."

During a moment of calm in his climbing preparations, Attilisk stares down at the curiously trapped vehicle.  "Oh, you beauty.  I'm hoping you and I will be good friends," he says, half to himself.

Porgot unhefts his explorer's pack and rifles through it. "I think I've got some in here..."

OOC: Not sure if an explorer's pack includes a rope but ai assume so?

Re: [In-Character Threat] Deciphering Tomorrow

Porgot can find a sturdy coil of thin rope in the bottom of his bag, and find a good place to anchor it.  Attilisk can reach out to the vehicle below with his mind.  It seems... dreaming, but as his power touches it, it rouses slightly.  The opening halfway down irises open, revealing a dark interior with tiny specks of light within.  There is a faint shudder along the length of the vehicle, and a few sparks of electricity dance over its surface...

"What is that?" Porgot's eyes are wide, watching the electricity dance over the object. "What are you trying to tell us?" He reaches one hand cautiously toward the object, testing to see if he can feel anything in the air (e.g. Static electricity) near the object before touching it.

OOC: Does somebody want to go down first or should I?

"I'm willing to go down first," states Attilisk, testing the secure hold of the rope and the connection between the two lengths they have so far.  He smiles.  "It's amazing, isn't it?" he asks as he pulls on leather gloves to help protect his hands during the descent.

Paraton comes out of their reverie, feeling the crystal slowly grow inside and over them, bonding, coalescing. They feel stronger, sturdier, but... at what cost.

The seeker looks at what their companions are doing, and pulls out a coil of rope from their pack, offering it to Attilisk.

Wait. Here. Better having and not needing.

Attilisk nods.  "Thank you.  And thank you for working with the controls.  We couldn't have gotten here without you."  He smiles and surveys the rope route to the irised opening.

Re: [In-Character Threat] Deciphering Tomorrow

It's steep and the vessel doesn't exactly seem to have the easiest footing, being mostly slick with few footholds.  Bracing with the rope and carefully descending will be safest.  If you let go... your descent will be much, much faster than you want, and arrive at a destination far lower than you likely desire.

The vessel hums as your feet come in contact with it, a subtle vibration that goes all the way to the bone.  As you make your way down, the floating lights that were scattered around the room like stars begin to zoom closer, revealing that they are small, metallic orbs studded with lights, perhaps three inches across.  They look as if they are about to try to settle on anyone climbing....

Paraton witnesses the situation, slaps their forehead, and goes to check whether Delfino still has the gloves they gave him. The gloves that attach securely to vertical surfaces. The gloves that would have been ideal in a situation like this.

One wonders how this Seeker managed to reach this age. On the other hand, the contamination from the Void may be there for a reason.

Re: [In-Character Threat] Deciphering Tomorrow

Attilisk is about halfway down to the hatch when the glowing orbs begin to gather around him. They seem to be not of the same make as the vessel, but they seem to be attracted to the vessel... or perhaps the vessel's energy output.  His descent has made a shift in the energy output, so that the orbs were making closer scans of the disruption.

One goes to "settle" on Attilisk, still hovering two inches above his right shoulder, and then moves as he moves, maintaining the distance, as he moves to the hatch.  At the hatch, Attilisk can see inside.  The interior glows softly blue, with a rounded hexogonal corridor stretching from bow to stern, the surface slightly wet-looking.  There do not seem to be handholds in the section Attilisk can see, but there are some rounded nodules on what surfaces are exposed.

Attilisk keeps a wary eye on the glowing orbs as he descends, "befriending" them as he goes.  He'll describe what he can see to his fellow explorers as he takes a moment to rest, standing at the hatch and balanced by the rope.  "I'm going to take the rope in with me.  I'm not sure there's enough to climb on in here," he says, half peering in.  Attilisk will certainly look for anything resembling a control panel.  "Does anyone want to join me down here before I go in?"

Paraton looks at their two companions down the rope, and prepares to start the descent as soon as they are in the object safely, and the rope is not loaded with their weight.

What can you see from down there, people?

Re: [In-Character Threat] Deciphering Tomorrow

Porgot also acquires a "pet" on the way down to the hatch, while Delfino, Eleisai, Cube, and Paraton watch from above. The little glowing orb doesn't seem to do any damage or hurt in any way, just hovers an inch above Porgot's right shoulder and stays there. At his best guess, it might be observing or scanning something, though he would need to conduct a much more thorough examination to be truly certain.

Attilisk, with one rope wrapped around his body and the other just running out at the hatch, can tie off at the first rope and lower himself down.  Despite the extreme angle, the wet-looking surface seems to be slightly tacky, holding his footing secure.  The nodules along the walls seem to be a mixture of things - lights, some kind of display interface, occasionally a data port of some stripe. There are four more portals towards the aft portion of the vessel, and two more to the bow.  The glow of the modules is slight, but Attilisk believes that they are capable of much brighter illumination.  There is a slight thrum that can be felt through his feet.

Attilisk speaks loud enough for Porgot and Paraton to hear him, describing the passage within.  Then,  "I'm going to try to figure out one of these interfaces, see if I can get some more information before going deeper into the vessel."

Attilisk is still wearing a puzzled expression when joined by the others.  "I've ...  There's a ...  When I ..."  Half finished hand gestures accompany the sentence fragments.  Eventually, he just shrugs.

Some of the nodules, most decidedly, emit light.  You can even change the intensity!  Though it seems they don't go quite as high as they should.

The curious little orb only continues to float one inch above Porgot's right shoulder.  When Porgot touches it, the glow dims slightly, then turns chartreuse and brightens again.  He felt a slight warmth from the orb, and parts of its metallic skin shifted, revealing tiny openings, like small glass beads.

Paraton:
Seeing or hearing their companions apparently safe, Paraton decides to follow down, grabbing the rope and looping it around their waist for extra safety. The seeker joins Porgot and Attilisk at the opening.

Paraton also descends, and for some reason two small orbs join them, one floating above each shoulder as they position themselves on the open hatch.

Attilisk:
"I seem to be able to walk in it, at least.  Well, descend in a controlled fashion with the rope."

Attilisk begins to work his way toward the bow (which is down, right?), keeping his eyes and ears open for movement, information, and opportunities.

There are two doors towards the bow.  One is at the end of the corridor, the door a large and sturdy oval of blue-black synth with a spiral design on it.  The other door is ten feet prior to the end door, a smaller one but with a tighter spiral.  With a bit of investigation, Attilisk has a sense that the doors require a talisman of some sort to pass, to prevent the unauthorized from entering.

OOC: If you would like to "pick the lock", I'll need an understanding numenera or machines check of DT 5.

Attilisk examines the two doors and chooses the smaller of the two to begin.  Having already befriended the ship as a whole, he hopes that the door doesn't consider itself a discrete entity.  He examines the portal and tries to open it.
