Re: OOC Discussion

Sweet Mother Hubbard!  Ok, took vacation last week to deal with both the aftermath of the storm and the fact my sister was visiting from out of town (she's been heavily isolated, and we kept the visit very socially distanced as possible), but it was busier than expected.  Updating tonight!

D'oh!  Sorry, Eleisai!  We'll figure it out and try to pick you up!

I'll wait until Paraton posts before I do.

Priest in this case being Porgot the Adherent, who dropped off the radar some months ago.  Elesai is still with you!

Re: OOC Discussion

Hopefully should be able to update Monday night, or sometime Tuesday.  I'm away from my books at the moment and I need them to reference what is where so I don't miss anything!

Re: OOC Discussion

Parallel to Paraton's searching and Eleisai's inquiries (and my own searching), Attilisk will be looking for some kind of recurring symbol that represents the ship.  Tattoo, baby!  If it can be done with some sort of nanite-infused ink (or similar programmable substance) that provides some kind of link to the ship, even better.

Name. Symbol.  I want to get it all!

Re: OOC Discussion

The outline of the vessel that seems to represent its integrity seems to be the best "exterior view" of the ship and its best representation.  From one angle it looks like a hand with three fingers, surrounded by a circle of parallelograms.

Is that a reference I should be getting?  Paraton's reaction leads me to think that.

Re: OOC Discussion

I just recognized this description. I have those books. Currently in a drawer under my bed, but still.

I won't "cheat" and go look at those diagrams, unless it's ok.

Re: OOC Discussion

Paraton, at this point you've explored the whole ship, so yes, you're good to check the book.  :)

Attilisk, I'm pulling from a Numenera supplement called "The Nightcraft".

Re: OOC Discussion

I used Effort and rolled a natural 20.

What suggestions might there be for major effect?

Re: OOC Discussion

Going right where you want to!  There looks to be three locations "immediate distance", one "close orbit", and five "extended distance".  The first three at least seem to be on-planet, targeting deep in the Beyond, far into the sea off the coast, or an extreme distance due south.  "Close Orbit" seems to be the Moon.  "Extended Distance" has a green indicator with high life-form readings, a flattened disk with moderate light, a darkened star with large life readings, a blue trailing indicator with a great deal of water indicated, and a pinpoint with an image of large structures.

Re: OOC Discussion

Nice roll, and fun choices!  :D

Whew!  It is a good thing that we just finished packing an infinite supply of food, huh?  :o

BTW, Eleisai is old and tough and stringy and tastes funny, so don't get any ideas... ;)

I mean, who knows what's in those pods in the storage room?  Infinite rations?  Your extra clones?  The Blob?  Fuzzy socks?  Who knows?

Re: OOC Discussion

Having recently read Into The Night, I will leave the choosing to Attilisk. Suffice to say this is gonna be *weird*.

Re: OOC Discussion

Yeah, I agree.  IC, we wouldn't have an opportunity to decide by committee.

Attilisk, the fate of the universe rests upon your choice... but no pressure... ;)

Eh. The universe will do just fine. It's merely our fate that's at stake.

Re: OOC Discussion

*Eyes wide* Um ...

I'm thinking that if Attilisk is doing this, he'll probably choose the Moon.  Far enough away that something from Earth *likely can't hurt them (because he can't understand the distances on a non-Earth scale anyway) and anything else just seems so far from what he knows that it's maybe not the first step he would take.  Also, he doesn't understand that there's no air in space (or on the Moon).  Because that's just probably not common knowledge at this point in human culture.

Sound fair, compatriots?

Re: OOC Discussion

No matter where we go, there will probably be folks nearby who will want to take the ship for themselves.

I think that we are less likely to encounter other forces who will immediately attack us near the Moon.  Earth locations may well have more spiky towers and crystal lances, and other worlds may well have civilizations with inhabitants who are far more proficient with their technology than we are with ours...  :o

Of course, the Moon may well have spiky towers, crystal lances, and other civilizations... but what to do?  The only way to know is to take a peek.

So yeah, the Moon sounds like a plan to me... :)

Be cool if Paraton saw a round blue ball with a four-point star.
