Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

As some of the delvers step forward the skeletons stand up and grab their weapons. They all turn towards the delvers in unison, but don't move.

Brandaelfr responds, "They are undead. We must put them back to rest, permanently. I want to see if I can hold them at bay though."

Brandishing his halberd before him, Brandaelfr attempts to Turn all the skeletons.

Maneuver: Concentrate
Turning success by 2 (if Rule of 16 is in effect, otherwise success by 4).

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

The light of the Allfather shines bright and all the skeletons are affected by it. Most flee to the far end of the room, cowering against the door at the far end. One skeleton is less effected than the others and doesn't have to flee at the moment.

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

Using the light to carefully guide himself forward, Brandaelfr attempts to pin all of the skeletons against the wall. He makes sure to keep his concentration up, and remarks, "These are not powerful undead if they yielded so easily. Let me press them against the wall, and then we can smash them to bits."

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

The holy warrior's plan works flawlessly. The undead are cowed against the wall and dispatched without incident. The delvers not stand in the empty mess hall, their feet crunching on pieces of the crew they violently laid to rest. The skeletal crew members each had a medium shield and a melee weapon, which are scattered on the ground wherever they fell.

As the delvers get a better look about the room they see the table is solid teak and inlaid with mother of pearl in the image of a three-eyed octopus monster. Scattered across it are candlestick holders covered in melted wax, gold gilded plates, and silver pewter goblets. The throne-like chair is shaped like a seashell on the back and and inlaid with more mother of pearl with it's legs are carved into seahorses. There are two closed chests in one corner and a cooking pot with dust and ash in the other. Finally there are two doors on either end of the room.

"Looks like we made them shiver their timbers. Good work." Brandaelfr says. "This stuff looks valuable. Drakul, do those chests look trapped to you? I want to see what they were keeping hidden before we move on."

Success by 0 on Search for a cursory inspection of the redead pirate skeletons.

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

Dagrak was really quite sad to find that the goblets were empty. They looked nice, and he was sure that they would fetch a good price, but was it he had hope that there would be some kind of booze at this party. His flask, carefully rationed as it had been, had run dry some time between the adventure with the crab and the octopus men. He needed a bigger one.

Search success by 1, scrounging by 3. any booze?

Fixated on collecting a momento from the skeleton bones, she does a quick pan of the room and continues to break off a finger. She puts it in her backpack to show her friends and family back home.

Mog quietly just goes about his work of gathering any valuables that are easy to see and piling them in a pile along the wall next to the table. Testing how heavy the table and throne themselves are to see if they too can be dragged out of the cave and trying to guess if they would even fit through the narrow parts of the cave they had already come through.

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

The chests are opened without incident, inside there are a few blankets, silk shirts, changes of clothing, personal effects, and bags of gold and silver coins. No one finds any edible food and unfortunately the drink has long since been wasted on the empty bones of the skeletons. The skeleton's weapons and shields still seem to be in good working order so Mog piles them by the wall with the plates, goblets, and the items from the chests. The barbarian further determines that the table is beyond his ability to carry by himself as he struggles to lift one end, however he is able to lift the throne with ease. The only other noteworthy thing the delvers find is a carving in the left door that reads,
Captain's Quarters
KEEP OUT!

Brandaelfr says, "It would break our pattern of exploration, but that is the first writing we have seen since the entrance to the caves. Perhaps the captain can give us some more information about what is going on here, or maybe he has a written log we can help ourselves to."

The delvers make their way through the door marked Captain's quarters. There isa bearskin rug in the hallway that turns a corner into the quarters themselves.

Fergurth is about to warn the others of the hidden trip wire but Drakul is already on it. She chimes in to answer Mog, “If we’re going to meet a Captain, shouldn’t our bravest and strongest go first?”
