Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

Brandaelfr carefully watches as the light dies in Morag's eyes. Just as carefully, he then lines up his halberd and decapitates the draugr. He shrugs and says, "Better to be sure. May your soul be freed from this curse."

Turning around, he grins and congratulates Drakul, "Well executed, Drakul! I much prefer your tricky ways aimed at our foes."

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

Morag herself was equipped with a fine thrusting broadsword, a medium buckler, a throwing axe, mail armor, sleeves, and legs, as well as crimson dragon hide boots, and pot helm. Her grave goods consist of 8723 copper, 536 silver, and 3 gold in coins. For weaponry there are six shortswords, two broadswords, four axes, a crossbow, four small shields, and eleven crossbow bolts. The less common items in the pile include a silver collar and chain, a finely carved driftwood idol of a merman with tentacles for a beard and a fishy tail, a lute with silver strings, a narwal horn, and a pirate's flag emblazoned with a winged horned skull in crimson.

The ship is too rotted to be of any value, including the dragon figurehead's eyes which are merely painted on. Moreover Rory is not here, though with the recently acquired map will certainly aid in the remainder of the search.

"They always say keep your friends close and your enemies closer," said the thief. "There’s no way we’re dragging all this out of here now. We may as well take what’s good and come back for the rest."

"There is nothing here that I need to carry around with me until we have cleared out this place." Brandaelfr says. "Shall we head back to that narrow passage and follow it to the other side of the cave system?"

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

Drakul sneaks down the narrow passage and can hear the sound of a struggle ahead. He stops in the shadows of the hall and observes a group of four Fishmen dragging a net and beating it's occupants with their spears. The net appears to contain a woman and a very large fish struggling to get free.

He hurried back to the others and reported in hushed tone what he saw.

"I’ll come at them from behind," he said. "We must act quickly."

He slinked back down the corridor, staying ahead of the others, and keeping to the shadows once back in the cavern with the fishmen.

Backstabbing: Success by 6, which is enough unless they are ambushing us.
I will wait for others to figure out if we want any spells before posting attacks.

"At last! We get to kill some fish feckers!" Dagrak was excited, and he hurriedly recast Shield on Drakul, before hurrying after him. He paused at the edge of the room to charge a bolt of lightning.

The sight of helpless beings caught in a net brought back memories of the poachers who’d dare step foot in the woods her family protected. Her father would show no mercy, death was always the punishment. “Let’s punish these fools”, she whispers to Drakul. She draws two arrows and fires them at the eyes of the furthest Fishman.

Brandaelfr waits a few moments to let Drakul slip ahead, and then charges forward right behind Fergurth's arrows. "Time to die, you abominations!" he shouts.

Maneuver: Move
4 yards forward toward the bottom left fishman.

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

Drakul charges in and slashes at a fishman's neck.

Fergurth shoots two arrows at another fishman.

Mog charges in toward a different fishman.
Defend or take 4 impaling damage.

Dagrak casts a spell.

Brandaelfr closes the distance with the fishmen.
Take 7 Impaling damage.

The delvers ambush the unsuspecting fishmen while they are focused on their burden. Drakul nearly decapitates one with two savage slashes to it's neck while Fergurth fells another by sinking an arrow into each eye. Dagrak charges his hammer with lightning while the Brandaelfr and Mog close the distance with the other two fishmen. The remaining fishmen attack the delvers who charged them, one thrust is too quick for Brandaelfr to avoid.

In the midst of his battle cry Brandaelfr gets stabbed, but the wound is not deep. He shouts in return, "It will take more than that to kill me today!" and swings his halberd twice at the fishman. The first blow is hampered by the wound, but the second is on track.

Maneuver: Rapid-Strike
One success. Fishman needs to defend or take 13(2) cut.

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

Drakul lunges forward and cuts the neck of the fishman who stabbed Brandaelfr, it stumbles back and falls to the ground where the Eldhud finishes it off. The other fishman fares much, for a moment, it avoids both of Mog's swings and Dagrak's lightning bolt. It even avoids one of the arrows that Fergurth fires at it, but the other arrow pierces it's eye and scrambles it's brain.

Enemies dispatched the delvers turn their attention to the net and it's occupant. She stops thrashing about and it is clear she is actually a mermaid, she cries, "Please don't hurt me!"

Drakul put a dagger through the eyes of the fishman just to be sure. He wiped the brains and blood on their corpses and smiled at the mermaid.

"We’re not here to hurt you," he said to the mermaid. "I’m sure you’ll be wanting to get back to the water. I think the map we found shows an underwater entrance that goes out to the ocean. Maybe we can help you get back?"

"You'll help me?" the mermaid asks, she sounds suspicious but also a little hopeful, "My name is Lizret. I was out gathering seaweed and clams when those abominations attacked me. They chased me up a tunnel and caught me in their nets."

"I understand a little bit of their language. They were saying something about 'another sacrifice' and I thought I was a goner for sure..." Lizret says, "If you can help me back to the water I would be very grateful."

"Can you move on your own?" he said. "If not, we can carry you."

He turned to his allies.

"Let’s head this way," he pointed on the map to the top left corner, where it looked like there was a pool leading back to the ocean. "Should be that way," he indicated left.

As they cut the mermaid free from the nets they can see she is pretty beat up from being dragged and hit with the fishman's spears.

"I would have to drag myself along... Could you carry me?" Lizret asks pointing in the direction Drakul had indicated, "The pool has a tunnel that leads out to sea."

Re: Chapter 2: The Grave of the Pirate Queen.

"Hah! I would have helped you just because you called them abominations. We will help you get back to the water, and then we are going to clear out this place entirely of these scum." Brandaelfr says.

He does pause to look at his wound before trying to help though. He says, "Just give me a minute to put a bandage on this wound. It is not bad enough that I want Dagrak to burn through a spell yet today, but I would prefer not to bleed all over."

He grabs the medical kit out of his bag and asks, "Can anyone help just wrap this really fast? It is difficult to reach when I am wearing my armor."

I think a First Aid roll from someone would probably work to just shove some bandages inside the armor for now. I'm not entirely sure.
