[Notices] - FAQ's and Eratta

Rules questions.

"Can I start with an artifact"
Maybe. Basically, I am more inclined to allow this if you took words that I considered somewhat under powered.

"Can I have custom gifts"
Its on a case by case basis. If you want something nearly universal, like an attack word, I am generally inclined to grant it to you. Alternatively, some words have powers that really should have been included in their kit (like Terrifying Mein, which should clearly be in Fear as well as Passion), and I may allow you to take some of these as gifts in your own word if I feel it's appropriate.

"How do you feel about strifes?"
I'm not a fan, though I'm allowing them for now. There's only two I consider somewhat abusive, and one that I consider OP.

"How is initiative going to be determined"
First come, first serve, in the interests of keeping the game rolling (which is a HUGE thing on RPOL). If a player wants to hold for another action for tactical reasons, that's cool.

Rules clarifications and erratta will be added here as I feel the need.

Gift Errata

Salt The Luck: You may not recall the effort for this scene until you attempt to 'give' away the die you salt the luck with.

Purity of Brilliant Law: This ability can only be used to dispel gifts that directly affect the user, like a defensive dispel. However, it is not a defensive dispel as it will cancel the entire use of the gift, not just it's the effect on you.

Perfect Engineering: The daily effort expenditure of Perfect Engineering MUST Be paid the first time you use it on any given day, not the next time you change the gift. This makes the power slightly less efficient but still lets you copy literally any minor gift.

Rules Eratta / Clarifications

Mob attacks inflict straight damage to other mobs
Reasoning: Damage sources that are area damage do straight damage to mobs. Mobs attack all targets around them. This isn't so much of an errata as a by the book reading of the rules.

Morale Tests
Morale tests are typically made when a mob or creature loses 50% of it's forces, when it sees an equivalent sized mob that it gives a damn about get eliminated, or when it's leader (if it has one) is killed. Massive displays of power may also encourage a surrender or parlay attempt outside of the morale rules.

Artifacts
Artifacts are forbidden from giving gifts that give you additional personal effort, just to save my sanity. In addition, you may use the collection of certain magical items or materials to justify using certain words in an artifact, at the GM's option.

Destruction of Artifacts
Destruction of artifacts are on a case by case basis. However, only artifacts with actual HP totals can realistically be destroyed in combat (such as the barge) and there's likely to be the possibility to repair them (since they are huge).

Other artifacts are on a case by case basis.

In general, minor artifacts can be eliminated with 10 minutes of work and a miracle from Might or Destruction or something I deem appropriate. It is generally impossible to destroy artifacts that are mobile/being wielded by their owners.

MORE FUN ERATTA

Time
This word is banned.
Unfortuantely, two of this Word's gifts involve re-setting the combat round. In sit down, that's mildly annoying. In RPOL that is a NIGHTMARE.

If you want to take minor powers from it that DON'T reset the combat round, that' fine.

Wealth
Prosperity's Abundance
Note that, the Wealth word's power is neither a gift, nor magic.
That means you can use this ability pretty much at will, so long as you actually have the wealth word.

Clarification

The city (for the purposes of the word, Cities) extends out and covers the market town to the north, shantyville and the docks/warehouse district by the water, and the various estates around the main land.

It doesn't cover the Collegium, which is almost a week's travel by normal means and is large enough to be considered its own city (over 1000 people if you consider support staff and all the villagers who live in the community next to it).
