OOC: Identicard discussion

OOC: So a few simple notes, to move around Earth Alliance territory you must have an Identicard. So if your human you can start with one, this includes if your from Mars or any similar Planet State that was or is in the earth alliance territory.

It does not matter who you are or what you are, if you don't have one you must get for one and that's only a problem if your a known criminal or some reason prohibits you from getting one.

Being a diplomat grants some special privileges but especially on B5 that limited as well.
If they find a good reason they will check you things, if they don't want you on the ship they will find a reason to keep you in space floating around. or wore let you in and confined you to your quarters.

FYI
As long as your PC is "clean" not wanted by your gov or earth gov you will be given an identicard and you can have more than one ID for different parts of the sectors, planets etc etc.

If I am wrong based on cannon let me know.

OOC: Identicard discussion

Straight from the core book.
If anyone know of more info let me know so I can read up on it.

Identicard: Issued to every citizen of the Earth Alliance and
every alien visitor to a world, colony or outpost, an identicard
is a small plastic device containing a small computer chip that
holds a great deal of personal information about the individual.
Financial records may be stored (and the identicard then
used as a credit chit), vital medical information, as well as
details on where the individual has travelled in the past, their
occupational history and criminal records. Any person within
Earth Alliance territory is required to carry their identicard
with them at all times and present it to security personnel
when asked.

So your saying you have your multicard , and it's programmed for identicard ?
On your sheet you should list this info.

GM NOTES
Also all players should list this information because without it you will not have the proper documents.

All players may have up to two starting territories they can travel to.
The first must be their home world even if they are a criminal or have a record of some kind.

Multicard: The Drazi prefer to travel light when at all
possible. This has given rise to items like the multicard, a
combined identification card with a data chip and microdisplay.
These cards are standard issue in the Drazi military
and many civilians (if the Drazi can be said to even have
civilians) carry them as well. A Drazi multicard can be
programmed to act as any form of credit card, security pass
or identification card, allowing the bearer to carry one item
instead of many.

Re: OOC: Identicard discussion

Hello

I am going to be working very hard on the PSI Corp information thread.
So for the record the PSI corp doesn't exist anymore. They have been disbanded and the organization has been divided up into other groups and merged into something "New".

The reality is more then 65% is the same with new titles and some changes in management. LOL

Some key players in the show are gone and some TV show personalitys are now actually in leadership hi ranking spots or on the Telepath Most Wanted List.

And yes The Blood Hound Unit is still in effect and they take the hunt very seriously.

The only interesting thing is it's not a big deal if your not part of the "New Corp". Some what different then the old PSI Corp unregistered telepath and becoming wanted criminals, but unregistered telepaths do loss earth alliance privileges.

I will cover this in the upcoming threads, .....

IC is open please keep posting, Thanks

Hi Julie, you should see the IC now and you can introduce yourself when ready
Try to keep the intro to the Lounge / dock area

Those in IC
Regarding Aalamar our resident Drazi, lets leave any intro to that character for last or even in the next IC as the player is not available right now.

Re: OOC: Identicard discussion

lol

So I was thinking of treating a telepath like a loaded gun.

YOu might be asking yourself what the hell is this guy talking about,  .....  Well im talking about realy like in this game. USA constitutional right to bear arms. The second amendment.

So the Earth Gov want the following;

1. for all telepaths to register
2. Testing of current P rating
3. random checks mind checks
4. rule of engagement for civilians
5. rule for military/government

There is more and am going to post it soon.
Please give comments because we are playing in a time period that the information is not 100% written in the books and we need to have this for a few characters ASAP.

Thanks

FYI I finished all 5 seasons. I kind of forgot how the last season was rushed but still was very good. ALSO Crusade is on Amazon Prime so its free if you want to watch what would be the closest to the time period we are playing in.

Look forward to seeing the finish of character sheets and IC posting.

Re: OOC: Identicard discussion

Well that's actually not a bad approach I'd say.  Even without Psi Corps, Earth Gov would still definitely want any telepaths to be registered, and to know their capabilities.  The more powerful the telepath the more dangerous they could be (or at least I imagine that was the reasoning)

Certainly law enforcement organizations would definitely need to be aware of their potential to cause harm, so as to be prepared to deal with that eventuality.  Thus testing for P rating/telekinesis etc would be a necessity 'in the interest of public safety' or somesuch.  Of course, that's undoubtedly part of what the Psionic Monitoring Commission and the Bureau of Telepathic Integration came into existence to do.

The Random Scans by the PMC were definitely cannon, in fact they were an important plot point in an episode of Crusade.  It was shown that the Monitor sent to scan Lt Matheson, who was only known as Mr Jones, did abuse his authority and scan more deeply than his mandate allowed.  He went so far as to recommend that Lt Matheson be forced to return to Earth for retraining for only what he considered 'minor' infractions.

They would have to set boundaries for telepathic interaction with mundanes, and from what I can tell they were apparently strict and rigidly enforced.  Most likely no physical contact and no telepathic scans or use of other telepathic abilites was allowed at all, except with written permission from the person receiving the scan,  most likely a legally binding contract stipulating precisely what was being agreed upon.  Signed by both parties and a witness.

Rules for military/government types would be similar, but even MORE strict, since confidential and proprietary information was involved.  My guess would be that any interaction between telepaths and military or government 'mundane' employees would likely only be done in the presence of a witness or multiple witnesses, and be recorded and subject to review at any time.  The telepath's access would also, very likely be limited to what was deemed 'necessary' for their job.  I should think there would be a limit on how far they could go in the military and/or government.

Of course, this would only apply to HUMAN telepaths, those other races who were lucky enough to have telepaths among them would have their own sets of rules, or not.

P.S: Yes I agree, the final season was a bit rushed, but that's because there was a LOT JMS wanted to do and only so many episodes to do it in.  He really had another entire season worth of stuff he could/should have been allowed to do.

Re: OOC: Identicard discussion

The last season was rushed because it contained all of what was intended to be seasons 4 and 5 except the shadow war, which was transplanted to season 3 when the show was threatened with cancellation because it was to slow to remain interesting for the projected 5 years.

Fortunately the rampant anti sci fi bias hadn't quite kicked in yet so they weathered the storm unlike so many shows that followed.

In reply to Q'voth'zal (msg # 14):

Noting the Courts CAN order many things done including the destruction of personality with telepathy and covert ops tends to be more 'flexible' with special courts involved in some cases. And human companies would likely only use human telepaths for insurance reasons. Well with exceptions

Might I suggest because they are weak P1 and P2 telepaths be excluded from some things they unlikely will ever pose a security risk even Psi Corps were happy with them opting out and taking sleepers since for them the dosing was weak it didn't matter. And if they went on the down lo rarely bothered with hunting them down.
