All four NATO soldiers were on edge as they moved inside the ground floor of the abandoned office building. Sgt Ivanisevic saw what she thought was a soldier crouching in the darkness.

"THERE!" she shouted into the darkness before firing a three round burst at the target. The shots went wide, slamming into the wall beside what the blonde NCO thought was an enemy soldier. Behind her in the stack Bomb Kosacki saw what Sgt. Ivanisevic was shooting at and assumed it was an enemy. His three rounds fired in quick succession from his SLR was louder than Ivanisevic's M16A2 and his rounds were on target.

Against the wall, the empty water cooler exploded; the heavy 7.62mmN rounds tore chunks of plastic and metal away from the unit and sent the empty plastic water container flying. It bounced against the wall and rolled several meters on the carpeted floor. After the shooting there was an eerie silence in the air after ears rung from the bark of the two weapons.

OOC:

Ivanisevic - 3 x 5.56mmN

Kosacki - 3 x 7.62mmN

SHIT! Ivanisevic thought, SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!. She finally did it, finally let her unease get the best of her. She not only shot at the water cooler but she failed to hit it. She was so sure it was someone creeping in the darkness with a gun. She could have asked Duerr if he saw it, but there was no time and she felt like she had to act or they were all dead.

"Sorry guys" she said sheepishly in the darkness. "I thought it was one of the guys we're looking for. Won't happen again."

"This is gonna sound weird, but I'm sure I heard some people fucking a few moments ago." Says Nobby in a plaintive voice.

"This place is fucking insane. I wanna go home."

"Fuck"  Robbie said emphatically as he realised he had just wasted a water cooler he started looking for cover.   "Do we run or what?"

Nobby shook his head. "Nope, can't hear them now. I reckon they're pulling their strides on and picking up their gats."

He crouched up against the side of the building.

"We really should assault forward while they're not ready."

"To fuckin' right," agreed Brad. "They know we're here now so speed is key. Hard and fast! Just like that woman I met in Hamburg!"

He then moved off, taking the lead again in the forward advance, a broad grin of memory on his face.

In an effort to retain the momentum of their search, the fireteam, led by Spc Duerr with Bomb Kosacki bringing up the rear, opted to forgo searching the first floor fully and instead charged up the stairs. After the fireworks from the weapons of Ivanisevic and Kosacki, there was no point in trying to sneak around anymore. Boots pounded the stairs as the NATO troopers made their way nosily upstairs.

The second floor was much like the first, with cubicles and posters of the cars that were made here before the war. In a western facing conference room a gas latern burned, throwing soft light around it. An old dirty matress was on the floor in place of a conference table, and a dirty blanket lay on the bed.

Two figures inside the conference room were in their underwear and struggling to put on civilian clothes; one male, one female. Both of them were in their teens, but it was hard to tell their ages as both looked malnourished. When the fireteam got close enough to see through the glass wall, the pair started shouting unintelligibly but it seemed to Bomb that they were begging for their lives.

Nobby shakes his head and looks around for hostiles, keeping his rifle to his shoulder.

"This is starting to get that characteristic feel and texture of a clusterfuck"

He can't help it, a grin surfaces on his face and he says "Bomb, tell 'em to shut up and piss off."

Robbie couldn't help but chuckle, these two were lucky he could understand them.

[Polish: Shut up if you want to stay alive answer my question.  Have you seen any Russians around here?]

While Robbie spoke to the two Polish teenagers that their patrol had stumbled across Brad scanned around, keeping watch for anything that had noticed all the noise that they were making.

Upon hearing Robbie speak Polish, the two local teens went white with fear. They renewed their shouts not to kill them, making Bomb feel as if they didn't understand what he said. He knew they probably knew something as to the whereabouts of the two-man team from the 261st Signals they were looking for, but wasn't quite sure how to word it so they would quiet down and tell him what he wanted to know.

OOC:

ESY:POL again please Adam. Let's see if we can't flood that damn die roller. ;)

The two Polish teens stopped talking immediately after Bomb's second attempt at communication. It was the female's turn to speak first. When she did she pointed out the window to the west. "There" she said in Polish, gesturing to the northwest. "The Russians are there."

"Been there for a couple days" her boyfriend confirmed, also speaking Polish, pointing toward the window with his girlfriend. "They saw us yesterday and just ignored us." Looking out the window Bomb saw what looked like a radio antenna that was about five meters tall six to eight hundred meters away on the roof of the car factory building they had yet to explore. Green chem lights had been placed on support cables so soldiers didn't walk into them in the dark.

"What the fuck are they saying?" Brad asked the others, not speaking any Polish himself. "And what's she pointing at?" Her gestures weren't lost on him. She seemed to be pointing something out to them.
