The wolf keeps his distance from the cleric but makes it known its there. Its hard to tell if its protecting her or something else. Faolan is civil, seeming to want to spend time with the cleric and helps her in her tasks as well as the captain. But his role is unknown. To Cumandria, he reminds her of someone lost. And probably a burden to her despite what she wants to do. But having more time to spend in the possible temple could be a good thing or a bad thing.

After a few days, the wolf gets close and growls but not at the rogue or the cleric-but at three shipmates. They seem intent on doing who knows what to the healer. The wolf is definatly menacing and the three seem standoffish but one gets brash and decides he is not afraid.

Until the wolf has him down, neck clenched in its jaws. He's alive, bloodied but the wolf stares at the other two. They drop their knives and back away just as Ballest comes down from above as well as the Captain and other shipmates. The wolf drops the man as Faolan just watches for a moment. He tells the wolf to back off and it does, as the half-elf places a hand over the bloodied mans chest and heals him.

The captain immediatly takes the three to a holding cell on the ship and approaches the cleric "They will be deal with eh? Sorry about that, truly I am. I want to throw them into the sea but sending them in a rowboat with food is the best bet. They wont't harm anyone. Now then since we are gettin' to Stormhaven, payment." He holds out three pouches and tosses two of them to the rogue and druid. He gives the last to the cleric "Should be enough. I was able tah find yer a map, not the best but should help yah out as well. Shows yah where the temples are. Yup, temples. Several of them but getting to them may be a bit tricky if you don't go to the marketplace. Stormhave is a big city. Don't know much bot them temples but there is one fer yah god. Iffn yah need another ride...." He holds out a small coin "Yah give that to the keep in the docks. Grog be his name. Owns the only tavern. When yah see it you'll know." He goes to take her hand lightly and the wolf growls. Faolan puts his hand onto its back and it quiets down.

After a day passes and the prisoners are put into the boat and sent off, Stomrhaven is within view. Very few boats are visible and the boat arrives in the morning. Several shipmates put down the anchor and get the ship ready to go into the docks. Soon, the captain issues several commands as he goes up top. Some of them go down to the shore and mingle with people they know. Some just sit, rubbing their feet.

The rogue looks tired after the ordeal and starts to look around for the tavern. Faolan goes down to the docks with his gear. The wolf goes with him but glances at Cumandria. Something about the two of them...but she lets it go.

A new place, new life. What to do....

And what is in the bag?

"I need a drink." The last day and its surprise where the straw that broke the camel's back. "I will see you later." With a tired smile she made her way to the tavern. Disguise hat already on to make her look more human and less approachable. Didn't want to deal with more reminders.

Finding a seat on the cozy looking place she ordered a mead and some meat. She felt like she deserved it. While she was at it she kept her ear open for any juicy info. One never knew what she could find.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 1):

While maintaining an icy cold look of disgust, she watches as the three would be rapists are captured by the wolf. She glares into their eyes as they are placed into the holding cell.

During the rest of their time on the ship, the cleric is equally civil to Faolan and as friendly (as she is allowed to be) with the big wolf, sharing her clear affection for her four legged friend whenever possible.

With sincere humility and gratitude, the human priestess thanks the captain for the items and advice she's given and adds another apology for being the cause of the loss of three of the crew. She's also sure to give him a firm handshake.

As soon as she has time away from both her duties onboard and her duties to her calling, she takes a look inside the bag.

Before disembarking, she shakes the captains' hand again and offers a blessing upon he himself, his ship and crew.

The rogue had taken off leaving the cleric and druid waiting on the docks. Something about her bothered Faolan and the wolf growls as she leaves. Leaving when danger could be happening-spreading out when in a unknown area despite being some being civilize doesn't mean its alright. When the druid looks back after all that is done is needed to be done since her role doesn't exist outside the ship and since she isn't a crewmember-he looks into the pouch as well as the cleric.

Besides the map which is circular-slums on the outside, smaller homes towards the middle changing over to medium sized homes and the marketplace towards the center with larger buildings in the center as well. Probably mansions, larger establishments, temples. Probably higher ups but not even the captain mentioned anyone in charge. Perhaps its just a match of different people with different agendes.

Also 100 gold is provided as well as 10 platium. Its a large sum to be given out for a weeks worth-most would expect maybe 15 silver. But 200 gold?

After considering her newfound wealth, it occurred to the priestess that it might be a
good idea to join Zhera at the nearby inn before heading off to greet the clergy at the
local Temple to Pelor.

"Well, the captain recommended Grog's tavern and it seems to be the closest. Maybe I could find a bath and some other accommodations before visiting the temple" she thought, heading off the same direction as the rogue.

With a heavy sight she let the drink cool her mind. It was an interesting thing after all that time inside the cave that she could stretch her legs and don't hit a pebble that could attract enemy's attention.

Letting her mind wander she idly remembered how much she had to pass to reach there. She can't let other people kill her. There was no other way but forward and she would be damned if she let that get to her.

Nodding his head, Faolan seems to be not at ease. With all these people in such a large city and being a druid-perhaps its almost too much but he perseveres. The wolf growls when people get too close and circles the cleric and druid. The smell of food filters out of a nearbye building and soon they come across the tavern: The Gull's Nest.

Inside, its a decent size with a staircase near the entrance. In one corner is a stage with a red backdrop so its hard to tell if its either the back of the building or something else. Near it is the bar. A large man stands on the side of it wiping off a mug. His eyes narrow as the orc or something similar watches the human and half-elf. Sitting on a chair at the bar is the tiefling. There's a few others scattered around. It seems they are a few different races but mainly human. Or humanoid. But with the dim light its hard to tell. There's a fireplace as well thats well lit with a waitress keeping it going at times. A few more waitresses move about, with food and drink and some are taking them away once done.

A billboard sits by the bar, with a halfling looking up at it. He grabs one of the loose pages, looks at it and glances at the keep before hurrying off.

Deciding it was worth looking at Zhera got up to look at the board, wondering what it was all about.

The red haired, green-eyed woman carefully looked over the inside of the Gulls Nest. After having cast the Detect Magic spell just before stepping in, she made careful note of who did or didn't have magic on or around them. As she entered, she attempted to keep clear of the frequently used paths in and around the tables within. Passing near the bar, Cumarinda smiled a greeting to Zhera, before finding herself an empty table away from much of the other patrons but within sight both the stage and the fireplace.

As she sat down, she put her backpack and gear between her legs under her side of the table. Putting her shield and mace in her lap. While also noting Zhera's movements and those around her, the cleric also kept an eye out for a waitress, waving a head above her head in hope of getting some attention. "Could one of you hardworking waitresses come help me, please?" she called out clearly.

The board has several items of interest, people looking for adventurers to do several things. Quests of course. One is removal of spiders in the docks.

There is a note asking for aid in the lighthouse area which is nearbye.

Also there is a note asking adventurers to check out a basement but need to talk to a warrior outside.

There is the quest-someone lost their pack and needs adventurers to track it down within the sewers.

Lord Goodblade is looking for adventurers to find the healing elixir.

The keep notices Zhera checking out the board. He grunts "There's others that need help, got to find them. Harbormaster Zin is in charge of what goes in an' out of the docks or least tries. If yah lookin' fer work." The half-orc puts down his mug and looks over at the druid, the wolf and the cleric who walked in. He motions for a waitress to go over.

Nodding her head, the waitress smiles as she approaches the cleric. A typical human, garbed in waitress clothes of course "Hello. How can I be of ser..." Faolan's wolf growls and he pets the wolfs head. It relaxes. She repeats "How can I be of service?"

Zhera gave the cleric a small smile in return. The place didn't look half bad and maybe this could help.
It looked like a help board some places have next to the church's. But this one looked more like the kind of jobs one needed to make di on life. After the keep noticed her and informed her about the extra work she gave him a nod and thanked him before going to the table with the cleric.
"It looks like there are a few ways to get money here." He gave a short description of what she found on the board and the keep's word to her. "There is also a work about a healing option."

Cumarinda nods to acknowledge both Zhera, Faolan and The Wolf. In a friendly happy voice she says to the waitress, "Please forgive and do not fear my canine ally and his friend. As for me, I would very much like either a mug of good cider, or good mead, or if you have neither of those, I'll settle for a glass of sweet wine. Oh, and could you please tell me what you have to eat today?"

After listening to the waitress' reply and placing her order, the cleric turns to Zhera and nods, "I see. Well then, perhaps after we refresh ourselves, and get oriented here, we can see about lending a hand or two." She pauses for a moment, seeming to remember something, and quickly adds, "But soon I must visit the Temple to Pelor. I need more guidance and further training in the ways of the Sun Father."

The wolf sits at the cleric's feet. Whenever someone gets close other then the druid, it growls and doesn't let anyone get near. Faolan knows this by its antics and looks at the waitress "Pardon but she will have cider. No alcohol." He turns, looking ant Cumandria "You are...." The wolf nudges her belly and barks loudly. Several others watch this massive wolf. He raises a hand and looks at the cleric "We can see if they have rooms for rent."

When the tiefling walks over, Faolan watches her for a moment "We should help out if possible."

The waitress nods her head "We have several things to serven. Beef stew with potatoes and bread?"

The druid nods his head "Sounds good."

She heads to the kitchen.

With a warm smile and an affectionate look in her eyes she says, "Why do I think I know you? I'm glad that you like me, I just hope we can learn to truly get alone as friends. I am thankful for all that you've done for me. Not only that, but I hope you won't mind if I touch you."

Speaking to Faolan and Zhera she says, "If there are rooms here I'd like to hear about them too. But I am likely to stay at the Temple if they have room. Of course, I am willing to help anyone in need, my heart, soul and the Sun Father all demand it."

However, I find myself at a loss in ways for he and I to relate to each other. Honestly, I've had similar difficulties with you too, but those are obviously my fault, and I apologize for my ignorance." She paused, sincerely apologetic, before continuing.

"I promise to try to be more sympathetic and respectful towards you starting now. If you're willing, and he's willing, I'd like for us to be able to understand each other better, Faolan. My studies have led me to think that your calling grants you the ability to speak clearly with animals. If that is true, could you please use that ability to let my intentions speak to him and his to me?" she asked quietly while looking into the druid's eyes.

"I would be grateful and willing to grant a favor in return." she offered.

Zhera felt a little out of her deep. While growing up most animals stayed back, some, the ones without owner or didn't knew her where easier to approach. So she had to learn that tamed doesn't just non wild, it also means they share what the owner feels. She wished to know what this two are thinking.

"Don't worry, I am sure we can get a place to lay down." She told the cleric once she saw that the druid wasn't about to speak. "This place look nice."

Se was already thinking about the request of the board as she ate. "Just be sure to send a word if something happens." However she wasn't THAT distracted.

The druid seems to have ignore what happened earlier for some reason. His eyes narrow and he looks at the wolf. It remains next to him but its eyes stay on the cleric, not moving and almost statue-like. Odd thing for a wolf. Perhaps its well trained? Faolan gently rubs the wolf's neck and head and the wolf goes over to the cleric, gets really close to her belly and sniffs a few times before laying down at her feet. Even Faolan is taken somewhat back but he doesn't try to get the wolf to come back-everyone is just sitting at a table. He looks at the cleric "The wolf listens but won't speak. Keeping its thoughts. I have the ability but cannot use it upon yourself." The druids words speak out peacefully "And the wolf knows your not alone. Not with us but not alone." Interesting to say the least. He seems a bit out of it, probably being inside.

Coming back to them, the waitress has two ales and a apple cider for the cleric as well as vegetable stew, brew and a small chunk of meat. She takes the meat and kneels down. The wolf growls and sniffs as she puts the food down. It tilts his head and she stands back up. The druid nods his head "Thank you." Faolan's eyes dart back to the cleric "I need no favors. It is fine." Something about Faolan bothers Cumandria...

The innkeep keeps looking at the odd group as he leans against the bar. And the waitress goes to a few tables, cleaning them off and to some taking orders.

Cumarinda looked curiously at Faolan, seeming somewhat confused, then to the apple cider and back to the ales. She started to say something, her mouth opening to form words before suddenly closing, her wide brown eyes broadening even more with comprehension. Looking back and forth between the druid, the wolf, and then finally back to the fruit drink sitting in front of her, she gasped without speaking, her whole body tensing. After closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, she quickly regained her tranquility and cheerful demeanor.

With a warm smile for both Faolan and the wolf she spoke humbly, “Thank you both for tolerating my lack of self awareness. I guess my travels and works have ill prepared me for one consequence that I thought I had avoided. I appreciate your looking out for the both of us.”

Between sips of her drink, she spoke resolutely, “We need to find Grog and a guide to show us the way around this city.” Standing up, she smiled a cheerful invitation to the innkeeper to come over to their table.

Speaking to Zhera she added, “It seems I'll need to either find my temple or a midwife. Before we start taking on any challenges, I have a lot of thinking and praying to do.”

After a pause to let the introductions sink in, she continues speaking, “Besides food and drink, we need a place to rest, and maybe a place we could take a bath. He turns back to the cleric, leaning on a chair but stays standing up "Why yah need a waitress when yah got the innkeeper standing here?"

The wolf looks at the odd half-orc as several more people enter, probably from the docks as most of their clothes are somewhat wet. The four of them sit down and a waitress walks over. Probably about 10 to 11 people so far.

Faolan watches Grog, Zhera and Cumandria talk, but he seems distant "Grog if I could ask, do you have a area that goes outside?" It seems odd.

Grog turns and pulls away, crossing his big arms over his dirty apron "There be the door? But like a balcony? No. There be a ladder upstairs going to the roof. Can see the entire harbor if thats what yah want?" Its definatly a odd question "Yer wolf can stay iffn it doesn't harm anyone. Can't say what others will do iffn it gets aggrivated."

Faolan narrows his eyes and nods "The wolf will behave long as no one harms anyone I know. You have my word."

The half-orc rubs his chin "Alright lad."

Stretching a bit, the wolf stands up but remains by Faolan. Some of the other people see this massive beast and watch it for a moment. It doesn't react to them focused on Faolan.

He nods his head and goes back to the bar with another waitress gathering up some empty plates and she goes into the backroom.

Faolan watches the waitress and cleric go off to a side table. He starts to eat and gives the wolf a plate of mainly beef and some potaotes. It laps it up relatively quickly and puts its massive head on the druids lap. In between bites, he glances at the tiefling "We should help out, perhaps in the morning. That works for you?" He does seem hesitant going out into the city but if people need their help....

He asked Zhera what she wants to do. The lighthouse could be interesting, same as finding the warrior and the man looking for his pack. The healing elixir seems to be the man topic between the druid and rogue. And finding the Temple area.

Zhera nodded at Grog. "I understand, but I work with jewels, wanted to buy a few cheap ones and work on them on my free time." She answered like it was a common thing for her to say.

At the odd look he gave after the cleric response she just looked to the side, no use antagonize him if he saw her make a face.

She would start working on the elixir. Well, more like inform herself and see from there. So she asked for directions from the half-orc.

Don't want tah argue with yah. Iffn yah get some could make like a neckalace but sellin' them in that there docks won't get much an' probably get them there stolen. Keep it to yerself eh? Yah don't want tah make it out yer got them. Bad fer yer blood." Grog nods, coming back over "Lord Goodblade eh? I see the lad around. He is usually seem up some ramps outside in a upper level. Docks are a odd place, everythings all in differet spots and all tah make room fer sailors an' whatnot. Not sure where he be. Normally he's up there come mornin'. I don't like the lad, the whole 'lord' thing but don't think he's got much from it." He scratches his chin "Comes in once in awhile. Not a bad guy but well yeah."

Faolan finishes up his meal and watches the talk between the rogue and tavern owner. He looks over at all the customers but doesn't say a word to Zhera or Grog. He's listening but he seems to not have anything to say.

The waitress and cleric are talking and the waitress glances over at Faolan then turns back to Cumandria.

She listens intently at the half-orc explanation, some of it not new to her, but knowledge wasn't cheap. "You don't have to worry. I don't have anything for that. I will keep your advice by heart." She turns to Faolan half guilty and apologices before turning to Grog. "Sorry... Also we-" She gestured to herself and Faolan. "- might be interested in the mission of Lord Goodblade. Can you tell us the details?"

After the waitress and cleric both take a longer look at Faolan, Cumarinda's habitual smile  briefly turning into a mischievous grin, they turn back to speak with each other for a while longer before Cumarinda happily hugs the waitress then walks back towards the table.

After returning, Cumarinda addressed Grog and the others, "Thank you all for your patience. It looks that I will be needing that guide for certain." she said nodding to the keep. Looking to Faolan and Zhera she added, "As Grog has been kind to give us room and board here, while we stay I feel we should do what we can to help the people here."

After Grog leaves, Zhera nods back at Faolan then gives a long sigh. This was tiring. Far from what she was used to do. Still she will keep going forward. She resumed eating her food without saying much. Only stopping, startled, once she herd the scrap of her spoon on the bow. Looking at her tab she found it almost empty, tilted her head back and finished it. "Anything you all want to do at the moment? Or should we call it?"

Cumarinda wrinkles her nose cutely and rubs her stomach. Looking at the waitress she calls out, "Celeste! Celeste, could you please bring another serving of stew for me? Oh, and another glass of cider please. Thank you, Celeste."

The priestess turns her attention back to the group at the table. "My stomach says I need a little more food and drink. After that, I'm not sure. Honestly, we don't know our way here, so trying to accept a task from the board today might be unwise. But if we can find someone to carry a message to those offering a quest with a request for them to send someone to bring us there. That might work," she offered thoughtfully.

The druid is silent for a moment as Celeste retrives more stew and drink. She offers more to the group which Faolan accepts with a simple nod and she departs, glancing back. Even the wolf gets its share of food.

"Call what...?" Faolan eats a few bites of food and looks at Zhera. He seems to not understand-they haven't been there long "We can wait to see if Lord Goodblade comes here or see if we can find him. I understand your hesitant, Cumandria. I can check it out, the wolf remaining here with you." He seems to just want to be outside. Seems like he opened up but keeping his views a bit of a secret.

The wolf stands up, stretching. And he is big. It then sits back down after chowing down the food.

"Call it a night." She supplied with but a glance at Cumarinda's food. Better not remind her of other things. "Also, I will take a look around. Its been some time at the sea and he can look after you." She murmured something about not pitting the fool. After a shake of her head she continued. "And if Faolan looks for Goodblade I can take a general look around town. Maybe get a map." She might not be a cartographer, but a general might help in the future. Another things she would have to work on.

The druid looks at the rogue, knowing its not night time. Maybe mid-day. He stands up and goes over to Grog. Some words are said, the half-orc nods and the druid comes back over. Faolan leans against his chair "You should rest, Cumandria." The wolf looks up and stands, resting its big white head on the table. It seems calm now, perhaps used to the tiefling and cleric.

Thoughtfully nodding to Zhera and Faolan, Cumarinda looked thoughtful for a moment before speaking. "Please don't let me prevent you from finding what you need here. I'm going to find my room, and then find my way to the market. I love shopping!"

True to her word, the priestess of Pelor politely waited until Grog had a less than busy moment and obtained the key to her room. After a visit to her room, she retuned to see Grog, looking refreshed and clean. With clear directions and some advice, Cumarinda (and whoever chose to accompany her) made their way to the local market.

The half-orc gives them their keys. Cumandria and Zhera each go to their room, dropping off their gear. The druid wants to see if he can see Goodblade somewhere and lets it known they should all go together-new city and not sure what will be found, the rogue wanting to check out the area-the city cannot be easily checked in a day without some sort of map or guide but even then it would be very hard. There's the rather large docks, several market areas, slums, scattered temples, various other places to check and Cumandria wants to shop. Grog lets them know what Goodblade looks like-a human male, a bit of flamboyant clothing. Blond hair and beard. It seems like they can all go together. And provides them a partial map of the docks and the closest market area and some areas of the slums but he doesn't point out what is in the slums-either he doesn't go there, wants to or has no need.

When Cumandria goes into her room, a knock is heard upon her door.

If Zhera waits for the others, she goes outside and the wolf follows her.

The knock at the door triggers her conditioned response to invite the visitor inside, inhibited by her awareness of her current surroundings. "I'm not in our temple, Pelor knows that I can't just trust everyone", she thought.

After taking steps to secure her belongings and making sure her weapons, shield and holy symbol are at hand, she greets the knocker with a cheery, “ Hello, who's there and what can I do for you?”

Elsewhere, the wolf sits by the rogue waiting. The wind blows across the area and the wolf sniffs a few times. It looks around at the decent amount of people either fishing, loading cargo or pulling it off.

Zhera waited outside. The BIG wolf by her side. Idly she looked at the blade she got from the one that stayed on the boat. It had been well taken care off, pristine. Turning to the side she now threw a look at the wolf at her side. Just like the blade the wolf's hair looked bright and healthy, didn't walk funny, his ears where held tall and eyes had a sharp look that.... he was looking at her now.
"Nothing... just admiring you. Now I am talking with you... how does he understand you without you making a sound?" She lowered herself and hugged her knees, her eyes looking at his. "I hope you don't have a problem with me, because I don't have a problem with you." She looked around for the others, not finding them she turned to him again she spoke to him again. "So, friends, how about it?"

He goes to slowly put his hand on the clerics belly but doesn't touch it "My mentor sent me into the past to be sure you give birth and survive..." Outside the Tavern:
The tiefling waits for a response and the dire wolf tilts its massive head and she talks to him. It gets close, watching the woman as some others do their jobs. No one pays attention to them oddly enough. Its eyes narrow and gets right up close to her. Its muzzle sniff a few times. If the wolf wanted to, it can rip the tiefling apart. Its big. Very big. But as the two of them size eachother up, what appears to be a kobold comes towards the tavern. The wolf turns, watching this odd creature. It has wings which is odd and rare. It shifts, standing in the closed doorway and growls as Coin makes his appearance. The wolf stares at the kobold. It snorts and lies down, watching this strange kobold. Its probably even bigger then the smaller person.

Coin walks up to the tavern. Noticing the wolf, she tries to decide whether it was a beast she could pet. Despite it outmassing her multiple times over, she regarded it as cute. She smiles at it and moves forward to pet it, pausing a moment to let the wolf smell her first, or reject her. She felt no fear though. It was obviously able to handle being in the throng of people, and she could handle larger beasts if things went horribly wrong, so she was not worried in the least.

Without taking her eyes from the wolf, she asked aloud "What is this wonderful creature's name?" figuring the wolf's owner or handler was watching and would answer.

Zhera kept her face there. She wasn't going to loose this, it was her only chance to do that! She had heard one had to keep their eyes on the creature you wanted to face. It's freat hit her full force on her face, but she would stay there, she would- Why did he turned away? was this some kind of plot to have her look the other way and make her lose? this was- A kobold? what?

Giving a pout she finally turned when the wolf lost all interest and laid down. Was this her win?. Because it didn't feel like one.

"He is wolf.. as far as I know. And if you like your hands you will keep them away. He is a proud member of his race." She answered the kobold as she staid there. Looking like she didn't knew if stand was the right thing to do. "First time on Stormhaven?"

After exhaling a long time with her eyes still closed, she seemed to regain most of her composure.

In the name of bright Pelor why would you say something like that to me? Why should I believe you? What proof do you have of what you've said?,” she asked a series of rapid and intense questions in an ever-increasing voice, her skepticism clear in her tone and demeanor.

“Besides, if you've never met your mother or father before, how would you come to believe that I am that mother who died giving birth to you? Who is your mentor?”

He lowers his head "You know what I said to be true. Deep inside. The wolf's name is Fenris, named after my father. I never chose him-he chose me."

The human woman peered into the druid's eyes, looking for signs of familiarity, of visible traits that could prove or disprove his claims. Still uncertain, she carefully accepted the remains of the sword in both hands, looking from it back to Faolan's face and then back to the broken weapon again.

"It looks similar... But I thought there was nothing left of him in this world except my memories and now this child." she concluded while gently rubbing her stomach, tears gently dripping from her eyes.

Moments later, she handed him back the sword without a word, her eyes returning again to his face. "You've treated me like a somewhat friendly but distant stranger, your 'Fenris' does likewise, and now you tell me that I'm going to give birth to you and die before you come to know me? I agree, you really don't know me. If I am pregnant, my child will know my name, their father's name, and the sound of my voice before I die. " She said with  calm conviction. "My child will also know that neither church nor child of mine will ever be left abandoned to grow without insuring that someone responsible, someone I trust, will take care of them in my absence."

She continued to look into his eyes, her own filled with renewed conviction and purpose. Pulling out her holy symbol, she held it up between them. "By the name of the Sun Father, I promise that if everything you've told me is true, from my condition to who you are, I will try to change the future for our family!" Finishing her oath while looking into his eyes, she then turned to face the direction of the Sun, spread her arms and said a quiet prayer.

Her smile returning, she sat back down and asked Faolan, "Who was your mentor? What have you been told about me and my Fenris? What became of Brankx? What do you want me to do?"

You don't believe anything I said despite having my fathers broken blade. Question is how do I know Brankx? He helped raise me when you passed. Always angry. Lars helped mellow him out before he died as well of old age. As much as Brankx wanted to train me in arcane arts, he decided against it as he knew that would be a disgrace to Fenris and his memory. As much as he disliked him, he respected him. And he wasn't easy to deal with." The druid watches the cleric "You speak like a mother, beliving what you want and know but sometimes things happen. Bad things. You can't change the future and believing your god will do something...." He takes a deep breath "I am sorry for not beliving your faith. That was ill timing. And I have already told you more then I should have but like I mention before, Lars passed. Brankx become the village's mage. My clan you never met, took me in when you passed in birth. And I won't tell you what to do." He slowly stands up "Your faith left you. My birth regained it but you passed. In reply to Faolan (msg # 55):

Cumarinda continues to look at Faolan, occasionally taking calming breaths before she speaks.
"Faolan, you seem to be well and truly convinced of the truth of what you say. Take a moment to think how it might seem to me to have someone suddenly make the claims you've made." The young priestess looks earnestly at the druid who claims to be her child. Her smile fades slightly, and quiet tears drip down her face. "Honestly, my heart is divided and my mind guides caution. In my heart, I feel that if what you say is true, that I will have failed both you and my faith. Gods above know that I cannot accept failing to provide for my child. Pelor knows that I cannot accept failing my faith." she pauses, "Yet I am a human woman nearly as capable of failure or success as most any other woman. Only my training, devotion, skill at cooking, and the divine gifts I've been given in service to the greater good make me different. My studies and knowledge lead me to think that deception is possible."

For a moment, her chin drops to her chest as she holds her head between her hands. Two heartbeats later, she brings her head up, wipes her eyes, and gently takes Faolan's hands in her own. With a warm and radiant smile, she gently squeezes his hands in hers.

"So, I have thought about what you've said and your reason for coming from the future to see me. I have made an oath to our family, witnessed by yourself and before the Sky Father. I intend to keep that oath. As I have already planned, I will do what I can to ensure that my baby is healthy and as safe as my calling allows. What do you say to that, Faolan?"

I don't doubt that you do, but I have to wonder, what do you hope to accomplish by being here and now?"

While tugging on his hand, she coaxes, "Faolan, would you like to hear about my Fenris? Come back and sit down with me and I'll tell you."

Cumandria's Room:
"Seeing you breaks it as I know it cannot last." The druid pauses and turns to look ather "To have a mother that's alive. Is that enough?" He sits down again, watching Cumandria.

Outside the Tavern:
As soon as the kobold goes to pet him, the wolf takes that as a bad thing as the kobold reaches towards him. Perhaps out of fear or perhaps its angry, the wolf snaps into Coin's arm and tears into it before releasing. Zhera eyes open wide as she is taken back by the dire wolves action as it stares at Coin. It growls, becoming a barrier between the tiefling and kobold but leaving the doorway into the tavern open. I wonder if the kobold feels lucky....

She smiles warmly with a slight moistness in her eyes, walking over to kneel beside him she says, "Then I am your living mother and I hope I will be enough. However, there will be a few changes between us. First, you will stop treating me like a stranger and treat me like your mother. That means no distance between us, hugging is mandatory at least twice a day. Second, Fenris the wolf has to learn to trust and accept me. I shouldn't be in danger from any of My Son's friends or companions, as neither they nor you are in danger from me." She berates him gently but firmly. "You will learn to appreciate my cooking as I am an excellent cook and again your mother. I hope and pray that you will someday accept Pelor as your patron, and I will keep trying to get you to do just that. However, should you choose another benevolent God to follow, I may eventually accept that."

With that said, she opens her arms wide and promptly proceeds to exuberantly hug him. "Any questions, Faolan, my Son?"

Not being the first time creatures have taken a bite, Coin hardly flinches, but she does give the wolf a serious look, a less submissive kobold you've never seen, and she looked right into it's eyes as she said "No. Bad!" with more than just her words, using her tone and presence to reinforce the admonishment.

She is more ready to smack it on the nose if it tries again though.

It is nothing against what you believe but everyone has their choice and I will not doing what you want when I have lived without your guidance. This may sound harsh and that is not my intent. For my wolf, you named it?" He doesn't respond that he actually called it Fenris. Another deep breath comes from Faolan "Mother...I..." He finds it odd for him to even say it but its true nonethless "Outside I will call you by your name. No one else needs to know of this, at least for now." He lowers his head and stares at the ground.

Outside the Tavern:
As soon as the kobold looks up at him with it being much larger, it lets out one hell of a growl. Its mouth is lower revealing its bloody lips. From behind him, Zhera watches what is going on and finally blurts something out "Leave her alone alright? You want for me to tell Faolan?" It growls again and looks back to the tiefling before going over to the side of the tavern and watches the kobold before sitting down, now at her level. Its eyes narrow as it watches her before looking around at the people doing their own thing. It keeps its distance from Zhera but seems ready if needbe to strike, or act tough. Or bite.

Cumarinda sighs softly, "As a child, I had a temple full of family. No one every claimed to be related to me by blood before you, but they were the family that raised me. What I have learned about parents and children is mostly by looking and listening. Neither love nor true family is strictly defined by blood."

She looks at him curiously, "What does my being your mother mean to you? What do I mean to you? These are questions that need your answers, for you and me both."

"You are right in saying that your faith is your choice. And I will not try to take that choice from you. I want you to follow him because I'd like my children to share in my faith. My calling to believe in and live in service to Pelor is also a choice. My Sun Father Pelor sheds and shares his goodness with all that lives beneath his light, believers or not. All that is goodness and light are his allies, all those who oppose such things are not. As long as you walk in the path of goodness and shun evil, I will be content."
she resolves with conviction.

"Because I am your mother and I love you, my child, I will not tell anyone else unless they absolutely need to know. But remember what I said about the daily hugs and what I want from you and your wolf. Oh, and you named him Fenris first. Although he does remind me of your father, wild and often bad-tempered, I think we will get along soon enough. Especially with your help, Son" she said in a maternal manner with a sweet smile.

Has he or she always there for you in good and bad times? I view my life as it is my life. Not governed by anyone. I make a choice, and live within the spirits and the earth. Water and air. Is that odd? You have such faith but what if it went away? What would you have?" His voice seems serious but he stands up "I am sorry, not meaning to judge you. We don't know eachother so I am unsure of what the wolf wants. It is just odd, hard to explain. But I believe the wolf won't harm you. Other people, probably. We should go find Zhera no? I don't believe I ever called him by Fenris but if that is what you wish to call him, so be it. As for my mother, never felt anything before. Part of me wishes I did not come back, let my life fade away but part of me wants to see if I could save you. For my father..." He goes to the door "Always with us no?" Strange man. Never gives a straight answer.

Outside the Tavern:
"He's got a owner or rather friend. Interesting man." Zhera stands up as Coin checks out the wolf but its back is to the outer tavern wall. The wolf growls if the kobold gets close. Moving around a wolf not a good idea. Its eyes stare at Coin.

Watching what is going on, Forge sits down with his paintbrushes and canvas as if looking for anything interesting. Some distance off away from the tavern which lies on a center pier, the warforge glances around at some of the people fishing, trading their goods for fish or vice versa. A little marketplace. So many people. A young boy, looking like a elf stops as he looks at Forge. His eyes go wide and he backs away but is stopped by his mother who looks at Forge. Probably frightened they back away and duck down a alleway. Turning his head he sees what looks like a strange winged creature by the tavern with a big wolf and a woman. Interesting but they are some distance off. Perhaps he can paint one from here or pick a fisherwoman or man down by the docks. Its a rather large area, plenty to check out. He has time, taken off from his Pelorian duties.

A few boats are docked by the tavern, some people are talking and some are being loaded up and unloaded. Its pretty peaceful. Sun is beating down, some clouds in the sky. Its probably about 75 degrees out. A bit uncomfortable but there is shade as well. Everyone seems to be in a good mood.

Forge is off to the side and out of the way as much as is possible, he trues to move carefully and cautiously around any people who come too close...He is aware that should he move to fast and slam into a passerby that they may be truly injured...

....the elf child had looked at him with that idea of possible danger in his eyes, but children felt the same vulnerable way around horses and cows, some even of small animals as it was  beyond their understanding....

He watched the people about their day and placing his hands as a frame to look through considered what scape he wanted to paint....there was no hurry to start the painting.....

The paint on his darkwood buckler was still drying from his painting of the rising sun of Pelor in brilliant yellow orange and the hints of red that often played into his idea of what is often required in terms of blood.....

The interesting group of people are unknown to him, when any look his way he waves to them in greeting...he would smile if he could and so much expression for others seemed to happen in the face and subtle body motions....

Waves at the distant group with the wolf and a winged creature......

"I do believe in Pelor. His priest saved my mother and I from the foulness of undeath and guided her soul to rest in Elysium. He and his church took me in, gave me shelter, food and clothing. They taught me how to love people. When he called me into his service, he granted me knowledge and bestowed upon me the gift of his divine magic so that I may use it to help others. He is as constant as the Sun itself, always there, every morning. My dedication is based in both knowledge, belief, and purpose. My faith in Pelor is because I know my purpose in life is to help others." she answered with adamant conviction and a warm smile.

Curmarinda sighs and looks into Faolan's eyes, "As your mother, whether you call me by name or by relation, I will support you, try to teach you, and keep you in my heart. Now, give your mother a moment to arrange her new room as she needs, then we shall go and find your wolf and my friend."

Cumandria's Room:
For his mother being sworn to a god that she never met is odd. Of course he worships nature. Not really a god. And she seems like he points-she does. Yet she is with child, and Fenris is dead, not married. Does it go against what she has been taught? How does the god call her to him but she never met him? Relgion seems to be lost to Faolan and he takes a deep breath and watches his mother for a moment. He just nods and closes the door without a word. His faith is to his friends and family. Granted her knowledge? If he gave her the abilities could he not take them away? Perhaps he doesn't understand nor the ones who are gifted as well. God can giveth and taketh away. And where did Fenris fit in? Sounds like she was busy...which he knew more of his father. What is truth and what is not.

Outside the Tavern:
The three by the tavern don't seem to see the warforged, of course with the amount of people and not sure what they are looking for well...to them he's just a statue perhaps "Not sure. He has his reasons though. And the wolf maybe just comes and goes? He's not his master." Zhera has no clue how the animal and the druid are connected and she has other issues to deal with. Something about this place just bothers her.

A young girl about 60' away is play fishing with a stick as her mother looks away from her dong the actual fishing. Hard to tell where her dad is. But she trips and falls into the water with a loud SPLOOSH! She gasps for air as the tide starts to take her out but apparently she doesn't know how to swin. Her mother screams and tries to reach for her but she can't being up on the dock! "Help her! Someone please!"

Some others doesn't seem to be paying attention and maybe don't hear her. Some of them point and start to head towards what the woman was pointing at.

The wolf stands up seeing the girl and dives into the water!

The warforged starts to head down into the docks as everyonet that sees hm moves away.

Forge continues to look at his blank canvas, and to survey the docks for inspiration of a picture, however he is not seeing anything yet that he wants to paint.  Perhaps if he waits he will see something in the sunrise or during the night that would make for a good painting....

He turns away to check the paint drying on the darkwood buckler and misses whatever commotion was taking place...he thinks of the other humaniods and how they frequently blow in order to dry such things, he laughs a litte....
"Har..."

He looks back down the dock and if anything specific is happening, he fails to notice anything that seems either urgent or important.....
Today: Forge Anvilhead rolled 11 using 1d20+1.  spot check

Perhaps Grog would have some ideas of a place to visit that might be very nice to paint....who knows maybe Grog would like a painting for the bar, something to add to the overall look of the place.....

The paint for the canvas is not yet open and the brushes are still dry as the warforged thinks about the day....

Faolan double-takes it for a moment as he's not used to seeing a winged kobold or possibly any kobold, and he sees the wolf moving through the water but the kid is out of sight, probably underwater. Why is his wolf swimming around? Its odd. He whistles a few times but the wolf keeps moving away. Odd.

The warforged doesn't see or hear anything but some people watch something moving in the water by the tavern as Forge slowly approaches. He is able to see the winged kobold, what appears to be a elf and he can tell another follower of his faith, her symbol on a chain in wood. And with her cleric vestments....

Cumarinda pulls up short at the sight of the winged, armored, multi-weaponed and clothed Kobold. She blinks in surprise, sighting the swimming wolf. Still slightly befuddled, she starts to speak, then hesitates as the kobold surprisingly throws a length of rope toward a spot in the water just ahead of where Fenris the wolf swam towards.

Catching a glimpse of motion moving her direction, she turns in time to face a strange warforged coming to a stop in front of her. She notes the holy symbol of Pelor around its neck and an identical symbol rendered onto its buckler.  After hearing his greeting, it takes only a moment for her to recall the verse.

With her arms spread wide as if in preparation for an embrace, she responds, “In Pelor's grace you are welcomed with warmth, light and health. May darkness flee from your faith. What is your name and calling?”

Re: (IC) Stormhaven

The kobold's rope hits the water as the wolf gets to it. But the girl isn't anywhere within sight. Her mom is freaking out, dropping to the dock and sobbing. Oddly the wolf grabs the rope in his teeth and starts to head under the dock. Seems like a smart wolf. A minute passes. Two minutes. It feels like eternity but then a tug comes as Coin grips the rope. Another tug and the wolf comes out, gripping the girl like a dog holding its kid. And the girl has the rope as well. It gets close and the wolf is able to get the girl closer to the dock. Faolan is about to say something to Cumandria but then darts off the dock and goes to rush up another where Coin is. It seems like no one wants to jump into the water probably out of fear of the wolf and child but two of the burly sailors go to grab Coin's rope and between the kobold, half-elf and the two of them they can easily get the small kid up onto the dock. She coughs a few times and her mom holds her tightly. The wolf gets to a smaller area that leads from the dock into the water and does his own shake off but is still drenched. The mother looks over at Coin and nods "Thank you. She's my life." The two sailors turn, staring at the kobold. The wolf gets between them and the kobold and growls just as Faolan rests a hand upon its head. They turn and walks off after being sure the kid is okay. "You did well. Both of you." He looks at Coin and nods his head in appreciation and kneels down to the mother and child pulling out some money and places it into her hands "This will tied you over. And stay away from the docks alright?" The mother looks at what is in her hands and she seems surprised as she stands up, the girl in her arms 'Thank you. Thank both of you." She goes to give Faolan a hug and he seems surprised and she turns to walk back down the dock and stops as she gets close to Coin "...thank you." She seems hesitant but she does smile and goes to go back where the dock begins.

Faolan looks again to Coin "I am Faolan. This is Fenris." The wolf looks at him then back to the druid who gently pets the top of his head trying to soothe him "We should return to the tavern so we can meet Cumandria. Shall we?"

The doopr slam open and standing there is Grog. He grumbles, not seeing what just happened but when he sees Forge the frown becomes a smile "Forge! Been awhile!" Grog steps up next to Cumarinda and crosses his arms.

With all that happened, Zhera seems to dissapear in the small chaos. Probably shopping. Or getting into trouble. Or something else....

In reply to Forge Anvilhead (msg # 81):

“Greeting and bright Sun to you Champion Forge Anvilhead!” replied Cumarinda while gripping his hands firmly. At his query she turned her head towards Faolan. Her mouth opened briefly as their eyes met, before he turned his attention towards the rescue. A warm smile equal parts relief and joy came over her face while they watched Faolan, Fenris, the winged golden kobold, and the others save the child and return her to her mother.

As the half-elf, wolf and winged kobold approach, the cleric beams with pride while pointing them out to Forge, “Faolan who is demi-elven and his companion the wolf Fenris are in my circle.” Her smile dims slightly before she continues, “I don't know the kobold, I've never seen anything like her before.”

“If...,” she began to ask, just as Grog burst through the door of his tavern, “Oh!” she exclaimed in surprise turning to face the keeper. Briefly bewildered by Grog's forceful arrival and the friendship shared by the half-orc tavenkeeper and the warforged paladin, she is silent until after Forge introduces her to Grog.

“Oh,” she says recovering with a smile, “Hello again Grog. Was this the guide you said would show me the way around Stormhaven and to the local temple to Pelor?”

The wolf remains next to Faolan as the druid stops "Warforged?" He goes to go around him, seeming still confused but slowly relaxing.

Re: (IC) Stormhaven

"Wow, seems I'm the least interesting being here. I shouldn't take offense where none was intended, but I was enjoying the talk Forge and I were beginning. No one meets anyone like Coin every day." she thought. "Alright now, stop it, young woman! These feelings are sheer sinful jealousy! They have no proper place here!" she mentally chided herself.

Just after Forge's enthusiastic response to Coin's self introduction, Cumarinda gently corrects with a smile, "Ah, Forge my friend. I believe that Coin isn't a "fellow". If I'm not mistaken, she's a damsel." Turning to Coin she politely inquires, "I'm correct aren't I? Oh, please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Cumarinda Imbrex, a chef, healer, and Priestess of the Sun God Pelor."

Re: (IC) Stormhaven

The druid tilts his head as he listens to Forge. How odd? Man or metal? Perhaps he believes its just a man inside armor. The wolf looks up at the warforged and sniffs then goes over to the cleric watching her.

Grog grunts and crosses his big arms "I'm Grog. Now that we know eachother can someone tell me why there's a dog covered in water standin' by me tavern?" He grins and the wolf growls.

The half-orc or maybe a orc looks over at Coin "Yer a strange lad all covered in wings and stuff. Seen kobolds before. But not like you." Gruff and to the point but he shrugs.

Faolan whistles and the wolf looks at him, getting quiet. Perhaps its a trick he knows or maybe he just listens to the druid. Hard to tell.

"Isn't 'fellow' a gender neuter term around here? It is where I come from. Though, you are correct that I'm of the female variety. Not that it makes much difference with big folk. Ok, maybe it's important for the humans given the variety of human-something crossbreeds. I'd rather stay out of such experiments though." She gives a remarkably good smile indicating her jest.

Then looking inquisitive, she asks "So, are you perhaps sister to the Cumandria person?"

At Grog's cut-in, "I'm a special kobold, what a human might consider a half-dragon. Usually kobolds like me go live at special monasteries, so they aren't seen very often. Or so I'm told anyway."

Turning to Grog...

Cumarinda looked puzzled as she replied to Coin's question, “No, I was orphaned as a child. I don't know anyone named Cumandria, but perhaps someone mistook me for her.”

After Coin's revelation of her own ancestry, Cumarinda's eyes sparkled with excitement. In Draconic she exclaimed with a curtsy, “I had heard stories of those with dragon blood, but I never expected to meet one! I am pleased to meet you, Coin Thunderspear!”

Finishing her curtsy to Coin she then spoke in Common, “That is a good idea Champion Forge. Why don't you, Coin, and Faolan join me at a table inside so we can all talk privately? We have a few things to discuss, and now we have more interesting people to talk with as well.”

Re: (IC) Stormhaven

Now we're going back into the tavern? Faolan stands there, looking confused. Champion? The whole worshipping something that doesn't make a appearance makes no sense in the druids eyes. Maybe he should call the cleric who is younger then him 'Mom' and see the reaction. Faolan sighs. Back and forth, back and forth. The wolf looks up at the druid and barks. He looks down at the wet wolf and they both stare at eachother. Strange connection.

Grog gives the warforged a odd look, perhaps surprised "Yah know I don't think I would be interested yet. Got a tavern tah run and all that an' I like how it looks. Nothin' against you ol' Forge. I bet yah are hungry. That there Coin is it? An' I think I got yer some oil eh Forge?" He turs to head inside, glancing back at them "Come on now, don't got all day. An' I bet that there Forge can show yah the way to the temple eh?"

Faolan leans agains the tavern, watching these two newcomers. Definatly interesting. He seems intrigued by Forge and Coin but he has other things to tend to. He takes a deep breath as the wolf looks at each of them. The wolf yawns.

Forge is still thinking about the moniker of the small creature who is apparently female and how thunderspear is not a name for an obvious  male is perplexing and surprising.  He then recalls that family names go to both sorts of offspring, unlike the naming conventions of say a warforged......

"I always endeavor to be a champion of the people who have need for hope....."

"Indeed you have a business to run, the commerce must continue.  No problem I will not harm one of your seats, I will stand while the others seek resto for their weary bones."
He looks at them to see if he got that expression right......feeling weariness in ones bones sounded dreadful...

Resting a hand on his shoulder, Cumarinda quickly says, “Wait. We need to step in long enough to get towels for our heroes." She paused to query Faolan and Fenris, "Unless the two of you would rather dry out while Forge shows us the way around here?"

Turning back to Forge she greatfully says, "Thank you Champion. I know you likely have other purposes today, but I, Faolan, Fenris, and Coin are all strangers here and we need you to guide us to the important places here in Stormhaven."

Turning to Coin, she apologizes, "Forgive me for rudely assuming that you don't know your way around here and have time to travel with us. Please, if you have other things to do, we'll understand if you have to leave. But you'd be more than welcome if you can stay with us." She adds with a smile.

The wolf is the only person wet and he looks up at the cleric. Faolan sighs and walks back inside, meeting with Grog. The half-orc has some beef stew brough out for Coin and motions for everyone to sit. Faolan leans against the wall near the table assuming everyone followed. The wolf skakes off again and sits down at Faolan's feet. Ale is provided as well as apple cider is given to the cleric.

"Eh? Oh bloody..." Grog comes over from the bar and puts something in front of Forge. It looks like some sort of oil "Here yah go." He assumes thats what the warforged 'eats' or uses on himself, knowling little of warforged but he knows Forge. Once the food is all eaten, a waitress comes over and grabs everything. Grog gives them any quests, and lets them know Forge can show them where the temple is but it takes some time to get there.

One of the things I learned early on is that you can't help everyone, so choose wisely when, where, and how. That's why I figure helping this Lord is a good thing, assuming he's an actual lord, that would build a connection to someone with the power and influence that can help us help others if needed. If we end up with extra time while pursuing the strategic path, then we can fill in that time with little things, like killing spiders that are undesirable but avoidable." THe kobold looks at them.

"So I am to help a actual lord because I can gain something but not help say a poor person as they probably don't have anything? Helping them is what some people want to do and not ask for anything in return. Its the right thing. If this Lord wanted to help out he would have, and doesn't need our support. He probably doesn't care as he's a noble lookng down upon others. I help whomever needs it but I will help others not for money or what they have but because its the right thing to do. Not helping a lord because they have money. To you it is not urgent. To me, it is. I am here to help out people who need the help, not go find a lords elixer. Maybe I cannot help everyone but doing the biddings of a Lord isn't something I find to be a good deed. You seem to want to build something for yourself. I don't. Aiding the people who need it is what I intend on doing." It seems the druid and bard are at odds for what they want to do and what they believe in doing. He takes a deep breath "I do not want to disagree with you but what we want are two different things. But not all will go to the tavern and put something out there will need the help. Perhaos they can't get here or don't know of the board. Maybe they cannot right or in a bad situation and can't ask for help. What the Lord wants can wait." Yeah, a druid working for a noble doesn't make sense-they survive on their own. Perhaps its how he was brought up or something else "Your strategic path puts money into your pocket working for a Lord, ignoring people because that is what he wants. Maybe I am in the wrong but if he wanted to help, he could us it to help out others less fortunate them himself."

The wolf senses the frustration and angry, even some sadness coming from Faolan. It stands up and growls but not at anyone in particular. Just seems to be in general. And it barks loudly just once.

"You deeply misunderstand me. You can spend all day catching fish to feed three people. Those three people will become dependent on you, though you could claim to be helping them, and especially feel good at seeing them well fed. Or you could start a fishing school, and teach those three to fish for themselves, and then you can go find three more to teach, and more after that. Those you taught to fish will often be grateful and can either teach others as you taught them, or send others to you to be taught. In that way you can help lots more people by teaching them to fish than fishing for them. This is just a simplified example of course. Often you must choose between helping a few people now or helping a lot of people in the long run. It is not selfish nor wrong to choose the latter. I can't help everyone I come across who needs help. If I want to truly help as many as I can, I must choose carefully how I help, so I can see how to teach them fish rather than fish for them."

Coin shifts to lean forward, adkusting her tail to the other side of the chair.

"Consider the drowning kid outside. That was urgent. It could not wait. The kid would've died. But notice there was no job listing for it. If no one helped without s job listing, the kid would've been dead before anyone could post the listing. Now that spider job. Obviously the situation is not urgent. The poster may not want to wait, but clearly they can wait as they post a listing amd wait for someone to respond. They are therefore clearly not in danger, and as a job listing, someone in need of currency will help, either for the payout or for the self gratification of being helpful. Either way, that will get resolved with low risk of getting worse. However, consider in the future if political plots risk the food source of a village. That can't be solved by waltzing in somewhere and killing a bad guy. Instead that would be solved by making a political counter-play. For that, high placed friends would be extremely helpful, both to the one seeking to end the problem and those suffering without food."

Giving Foalan a searching look, "It comes down to whether you want to help many, help personally, or to feel better about yourself because you helped. All three are very different things and have very different ways to best succeed."

"And that doesn't go with what you first said, Coin. You wanted to help the noble -believig- he will help the poor. I don't believe it as if he wanted to help he would have. Aparently my views don't matter. You speak of what you believe. I do things that need to be done and I dislike how you spin your tales in other to make yourself out to be the better person. I really don't like it. And yet again you bring up the job listing ignoring the fact not everyone can use it or even know about it. And I don't feel you want to help anyone unless it put money in your purse. You helped out the girl because it was needed and -hoped- it would provide something. It didn't. My wolf saved the girl out of instinct. I realized it, you realized it." The druid watches the strange kobold and obviously doesn't really like him with all his spinning words "All you want is money. If they can't pay it you won't help them. So how does that make you a good soul when you won't do a damn thing? It doesn't. I don't help people for myself. Or for anyone. I do it because its the right thing. The way I was brought up. I want to help people out now and let it spread. And I don't trust you." His body tenses and the wolf watches everyone in the room. He pulls from the wall and is about to leave.

But Grog plants a hand over his shoulder "Sit down." He turns towards the kobold, eyes narrowed "Lord Goodblade is a fool. He won't do a damn thing. Not all them nobles are like him but never met them. That there people? Yes they need all that help and mumbo jumbo. Yer help is needed but yah can wait. I may be just a tavern owner yah know but I have seen my share of arguments an' fights. This man is about to put up his hands and that big wolf wants to rip into yah. Hell I won't mess with it. So I suggest yah keep it calm and stop shootin' words at eachother and pick whatcha want tah do. Yah can't help everyone. Some want to. Yah want some solid advice? Yah got to stick to eachother an' do what needs tah be done." He places his hands upon the table, all like 6 or 7 of them (I lost count lol!) Grog is a big man. His eyes dart to Forge and he laughs. Not sure of what is going on between then but he pulls his hands back, wiping them on his apron "I don't want tah hear bout lets help her or him, lets help the nobles. Yah know, it means nothin'. Talking bout it and doing it are two seperate things. So go do somethin'." Right to the point. He grabs a ale and jugs it, wipping off his toothy maw "An' there be people who need help, that I know of but are too proud tah ask fer it. Been here fer a long time and seen some crazy crap. An' that there people who posts aren't in need of direct help but they need help." He spits at the ground. That's probably the most Grog has even said but he's trying to get to the point. He yawns and starts to walk off "So just bloody pick alright? Pickin' nobles isn't always the best choice. So just go an' I'd say go to the temple. Helpin' out when yah can and I bet things happen that'll help."

The druid feels the hand and he turns watching Grog speak and walk off "I am going to go outside. Mixing words and getting heated up bodes not well." He nods his head to the cleric and departs but the wolf remains.

Grog goes back to the bar, talking to some that enter. The waitresses go from table to table and then the wolf lets out a bark before leaving as well leaving the warforged, the kobold and the cleric alone.....

In a rare moment of annoyance, Cumarinda sighs as she watches Faolan's retreating back. "One day, Faolan will understand that there are many ways to share good with those around us. What is most important is doing whatever good you can do, so that people can feel and see goodness happening to them and around them. The more people a deed benefits the better, although like a pebble dropped into a pool of water, the smallest deed can create ripples of benefit far beyond those we can see. We should not argue about the methods, our actions will speak louder to the Gods and the people."

She pauses briefly before continuing in a calmer voice, "I am a priestess of Pelor the Sun Father, he whose blessings fall upon us all, believer or not, every day. Forge is a Champion, a holy warrior in service to Pelor's light, a protector, and our guide. It is Pelor's temple we are going to visit." Cumarinda adds with a wide smile and a light heart. After finishing her apple cider, she follows Forge to the temple.

In her thoughts, Cumarinda prays, "Sun Father, please keep spreading your blessing over us all and especially my son Feolan. He has good intentions, a narrow view of life, and is as stubborn as his father. Lord Pelor, thank you for sending your Champion, Forge, to bring light and guidance to me when I am most in need. I know for sure your Angels are watching over me and I will get the child in my womb to safety."

Its hard to tell what they are talking about and the wolf is sitting by the tavern entrance. It snorts and stands up upon seeing the group and waits. By the woman is a closed door. It doesn't look like a home. There's no windows looking inside or out. Faolan whistles and the wolf starts to head over to him.

"So see I help those who cannot help themselves and set others on the right path for having the ability to earn for themselves....simple is it not?  A person relesed from jail sometimes is in the same place and if coin will keep him from returning to crime, and work will give him an opportunity, then it helps....

Cumarinda looks to Faolan and the wolf, then waves, shouting out to her son, "Faolan, we are proceeding to the temple! Come and join us when you are able, if I don't see you by nightfall, Forge and I will come and find you!" She says cheerfully, only awaiting the others to rejoin the journey to the temple.

'It is my son in my body that cannot protect himself, the one who walks beside the wolf-named-Fenris, can take care of himself until he is ready to walk by my side again. May whatever divine forces Faolan believes in take care of him while we are apart.' she sighs in her mind.

Great. The druid wants to help out the woman and everyone just rushes off probably to go to the temple and leaving him here. And not sure of where the temple even is. He holds his hand up and she goes with him as the the group isn't far behind. The wolf catches up to them easily as most dart out of the way probably out of fear and stops in its tracks in front of Forge.

As the sound of the last word echoes in her ears, the flame-haired human woman pauses in mid-step, turns 180 degrees, and walks right up to Faolan's face. With a smile and a nod towards the woman, she looks at Faolan, her expression flickering between several emotions before settling on acceptance, "What does she need our help with, Faolan?" she asked.

Backing away as he doesn't seem to be that close, Faolan crosses his arms as the wolf looks around focusing mainly on the warforged. It gets close and sniffs, growling and backs up. Maybe he smells off. The druid watches the cleric, almost trying to read her. He glances at the strange kobold and hasn't said a word to him. Probably won't anytime soon-just like his dad. Someone he didn't know.

The woman speaks up "Please. I need help removing the spiders from the crypt. Might be even more within but I was sick for quite some time and somehow they got inside. Recently I went inside only to see some of them. Not just tiny spiders. Big ones. About to my shin I say!  Please if you can...I got no money. And whatever is within the coffins is to remain there. Place by family members or friends. Oh please don't harm the coffins. I wouldn't want to explain how that occured. People trust me and I already feel horrible about what has occured."

Faolan just watches, waiting. And he stands near the door. The wolf looks at them as well "So doing this would it not be a good thing for Pelor? Perhaps the ones there can come here and keep it safe?" Its a odd thing coming from Faolan and he seems to be skeptical about it. It seems like it is what the cleric may want but not for what the druid wants. A balance.

Pondering what he knows about spiders, Faolan watches as the cleric and paladin walks inside. He glances back to where Coin is, then turns and walks inside. He stops, motioning for them to wait a moment "If they have a nest, that could work if its destroyed. And fire. Yet we need to be careful." The wolf follows them if they move on.

The 'tomb' looks like about 30'. It has a low ceiling, about 10' up. Bits of webbing are visible but there seems to be no spiders. There seems to be two coffins, lying upwards against the wall both are closed probably sealed up. Two lanterns line the walls as well providing some light. But it turns into darkness further on.

Faolan mutters something as his spear glows providing light as well.

The druid seems to be frustrated as he holds his spear up and waits. His wolf growls and waits as well. He sees like all he said was just ignored as the cleric turns towards the paladin. The man tries not to show it and the wilderness is where his skills are good but it seems like no one wants to help.

Taking a deep breath, the woman speaks "Everyone who has passed has been placed within. Either by me or someone else but I always went with them. Everything seemed fine but as of late I'm afraid to go in as there was no sign of spiders or anyone else besides the dead. I was asked to watch this place and to clean it out. I decided to do this as no one wanted to go inside. Sometimes some people come and I take them in to show them that they are missed and loved. Some of the deceased have no one to come to them so as I pass by I bring them flowers or small gifts. Please I'm just a simple woman asking for aid." She seems saddened by all of these questions and feeling like she cannot give the cleric answers to help her do this tasks.

Faolan listens to the woman, spear held to the ground "We should at least head inside. It is the least we can do and investigate." He'd have to talk to Forge about the spiders and anything that deals with nature within the city. The druid tries to come to grips with how he feels and to show it in a good way. He seems to be trying but with the cleric and paladin's faith....

To the cleric
"I saw the dock spiders once and was alarmed I spoke to a sailor about them and he said they had always been there and had never caused any harm, so I watched them sometimes and they seemed big and scary but just lived out of the notice of the people for the most part........"

It could be protecting something as well. Perhaps children but I don't feel a spider defends its own." His eyes dart towards the end of the hallway as the two skitter around to the center area.

There a few tiny spiders, easily stomped down. The group looks down the hallway as it turns the corner and it looks like there is a center area about 30'. And the caretaker seems to be correct as the group looks further down they see a hallway that seems to go back to where the group started from. More coffins line the walls every about 5'. All are closed. Several names ranging fron Bora to Celaser. Nothing seems to really be of importance. Its just etched into the wood of each coffin.

And then six spiders are staring at the group near the entrance into the main chamber. They are about the size of small dogs. They don't seem to be afraid and they don't attack, perhaps waiting to see what the group does and they can see them with all of their many eyes. Waiting and watching, about 30' away blocking the doors.

Coin is rather curious at the odd behavior. Certainly these spiders aren't acting like spiders. She finds herself a vantage point in the rear to strike from, but everyone seems to be in the way in the tight confines of the crypt. Still, her shield and whip are ready for any opportunity strikes, and she watches how these unusual spiders fight, and bolsters the others.

The spider skitter off as two of them lie dead from Forge's assault. Faolan nods to the cleric as she heals him. He grips his spear and glances at the others then goes to the chamber and peers inside. He motions for the others to look inside.

In the main area, there are two coffins that are open and the bodies lie on the ground. And they look like they recently died. But from here its hard to tell. There is a pouch near them. The room is about 30x30 with a coffin about every 5'. All are closed other then the two across from the group.

Coin laughs at the blast and yells down the hall with willfulness and laced with invigoration, "That won't work on me, I'm a gold! We will win for we are bold!"

She holds her shield and whip ready and laughs again as she brings up the rear, banging her shield with each step, excuding confidence and excitement with each inevitable step.

The blast hurt a bit (fireball?), but she expects it hurt her less than it did to the others, so she keeps an eye on the others for any serious injuries, but for the moment she extends her bardic music. She moves up, but stays behind everyone else, yet centered so the drider can see her.

He sighs, turns and walks out into the open air with his wolf not responding to the cleric until he finally turns "So its my fault? You seem to blame me not directly. We just got attacked and now you want to rush off to the temple. Again. Can we at least be given time to take a breath? And not everyone will feel comfortable in a temple. I told you I will go with you but that doesn't mean I have to like it. You stand there, being 'Pelor will shine the light'." Oh man.

His hands tighten "Pelor didn't help him. He's gone." Turning from him he drops down on the dock and the wolf sits next to him back to the others. He's acting like a kid and yet he's older then everyone here. But why?

Two different worlds about to explode. Or maybe not. Hard to tell. And he just got attacked by that wierd spider thing. He takes a long, deep breath. The wolf lowers its head and goes over to the cleric. Its blue eyes stare at her. Hard to tell what he's feeling.

OVERALL:
Oddly the woman looking for aid isn't around. There's really no one around in the current area which is odd being a dock. It just seems a bit odd for a bustling city.

Cumarinda looks to the half-elf druid with a faded smile. She puts her hands on her hips in a way reminiscent of a mother addressing her child. "Faolan." she says with a gentle but authoritative voice, "You misunderstand me. There is no blame except that of the drow-spider and perhaps the woman who led us here. You acted in  good faith to aid someone who seemed to need it.  We all agreed to lend help even though I felt there might have been some deception on her part. I and others became wounded by the evil drow-spider, not by you."
She paused briefly, then spoke again to the angry half-elf. "You have spoken to me in confidence of private matters of faith and family.  I cannot and will not discuss them in the open among others unless that is truly what you wish."

Curmarinda turns to address the others, "Please forgive my rudeness and insistence on journeying to the temple. I know we are all tired and some of us are wounded. I can promise as a Priestess of the Sun Father that all of your wounds will be healed once we reach the temple. There will be food as well, I feel that most of us are in need of a good meal too. I repeat, I am willing to listen to requests and suggestions before we move forward."

At Forge's mention of trouble, she looks around cautiously, "Perhaps the danger to us is still not over. Be wary."

As the group enters, Grog is at the bar. Oddly there is no one else inside least not visible. He smiles at the cleric, wiping down a glass. Grog rubs his chin, spotting the wolf "Well another wolf. Or the same one eh? Where the other elf fellow?"

Fenris looks rather confused. The direwolf growls a bit and the barbarian rests its hand upon the head of the wolf. His eyes narrow on the spellthief knwoing a dragon would destroy them-hech he face one.

Seeing that the barmaid is not apparently on shift yet, Krite moves up to the bar and clambers half up a barstool so he can be seen. "Can we get a round of mead and some crusty bread, Grog?" he asks. "A moment of your time for all of us to speak with you when you bring the tray would be greatly appreciated as well!" He puts down 4 silver and 5 copper, which is approximately double the cost of the food and drink, to compensate the bar's owner for taking some time to talk to them.

His eyes scanning over and taking in all the possible paths that they could follow. "Also, I'd prefer water to mead if at all possible. She turns to Fenris saying, "I think the silver spear would make a fine weapon for you, my Fenris, but of course it's up to you. If not the spear, maybe you'd prefer this dagger? Why don't you think about it, while I look at the board."

After looking at the board again and listening to Riceak she nods, "I agree. We've already looked into the spiders and are stalled by a lack of knowledge. Looking for that pack, even though its in the sewers, might be a good place to start."

As she awaits Fenris' choice, she says to the collective group. “Fenris, Forge, Krite, and Riceak, we are going to take the sewer quest and see if we can find a certain pack down there. Riceak, could you find out who lost the pack, where, and what might the reward be for finding it?”

While awaiting his reply, she takes a cloth and some fresh water and gently cleans his face and hands. When she finishes, she gently yet firmly helps him stand upright.

Oh had somethin' in the backpack. Most important other then a cross. A wand of sorts. Use it againt them rats. Don't hurt them. Not at all but it has some strange thing, makes a nasty smell that the rats hate. Then wham! I got hit by a big darkness so I ran an' lost the pack. Or somethin' took it. Not really sure. The sewers are damp and dismal. Occasionally there is light from above from another manhole or vent provided some light other then the glowing orbs from the cleric. The wolf remain uptop for some reason but Fenris goes with his wife. When the paladin states he should lead, Fenris seems against it-Forge is basically bind other then the light but the barbarian can see farther.

One side of the sewer is pretty bare but there is a more of stream down the center and about 15' away is the other side. Theres no way over in the immediate sight. And to the left is a brick wall probably the end. One way to go.

Stepping forwards, the barbarian pauses. He wants to take the lead, not trusting his 'friends' yet. Everyone left him but not the cleric. Her heart was with him. Fenris's hands clench tightly, gripping his blade but he remains by Cumarinda's side at least for now. The group keeps walking along and come across a fork. Left or right. His eyes narrow, thinking of what the man who asked the group said. Nothing creeps out.

"Did we already pass the gate section? I know there was a wall when we came down, but I don't recall a gate. Although, I could have missed at my height, but if there hasn't been one yet then it was supposed to be to the left so we would go right. Vice versa if we've already walked by it," commented Riceak as the group came to a halt. He didn't like the idea of being in an area where the water level could be detrimental for him any longer than possible, so the spellthief was going to do whatever possible to make sure that they kept a move on.

With the group following, Fenris kneels down and checks something out. Course with all the sludge and muck, its hard. He stands up and the group keeps walking ahead until they come across a fork. In the distance its hard to tell but it looks like a gate to the left and to the right it goes down at a angle.

Re: (IC) Stormhaven

Oh the look on Fenris face when she chides him? He is definatly not a happy elf. The barbarian stands up, growls and pulls out his sword. He ponts it towards the right and keeps moving. Telling a trackers to just track and not say anything-well to Fenris probably a good idea depending on who does it. Its pretty evident he knows the way-there's no where else to really get lost to!

After a few moments of following the sewer, it comes to a four way intersection. Straight ahead it seems to go down at a angle. The other two seem to be somewhat straight. Eyes narrow, the barbarian kneels down and grabs a unlit torch. Well it was lit but dropped into the soggy side of the sewer. He sniffs it a few times and stands back up and starts to head down the path that has the water flowing down after jumping across. Fenris stops and looks at the others.

The tracker keeps well tracking as the others follow. He grunts as the cleric talks to him, probably annoyed. About 15 minutes pass, just a long winding tunnel leading further down. Fenris stops at the end which opens up into a pretty large opening. The river keeps moving and falls downard and there is a small bridge going across it, pretty makeshift.

The barbarian scouts the area but remains close. He looks down into the depths below and whistles before moving back. The cleric seems to have seen it as well but not sure what it is or if the group is in trouble. All that is given to the group is something lurks at the bottom, maybe 30' down a waterfall right after the bridge. Almost goo-like hanging there as the water passes through but some of the debree gets clung to it.

After, Fenris checks out the bridge. It seems sturdy for him and watches the warforge for a moment then grunts as he hears the cleric and spellthief talk. Two ways to go other then the way they came. Or down the waterfall into darkness....

Well heck she married a barbarian! That doesn't go against faith then what does!

Unfortunatly for the spellthief he tumbles off the bridge and falls into the odd entity. His entire budy hits it and slowly begins to dissolve. The barbarian watches for a moment and grunts.

Its pretty well lit with torches. Fenris seems hesitant "Don't like it." His eyes narrow  as if expecting some sort of trap. Its damp, dirty but not really cold.

As Fenris opens the door nodding to the others, the room is about 60' x 60' with a 10' river running down the center. Across from it there seems to be more bodies-at least six of them. There's a 5' wide bridge going to it. Fenris grips his blade. Something from near the bodies.....

The paladin prepares to strike as it moves closer.

Fenris grips his blade and swings at the wraith! Three strikes against it and the wraith seems to shift and disperse as the barbarian seems to have killed it. It grunts, lowering the weapona and still seems to be full of unatural rage before calming down as he sees the cleric unharmed.

The warforged and human are unable to find anything besides the dead bodies. It seems most were stripped when they take a look. Fenris sits down, grumbling and glances over at his wife and paladin. His eyes narrow and he slowly stands up going towards the wall in the center of the bodies. He kneels down and pulls up a grate from under one of the bodies. Reaching down he pulls out two backpacks. Perhaps this is where the wraith hid them. Or had help with it not being of this plane. Hard to tell. Hard to tell if there was anything else down there.

Fenris stands there, staring at the cleric, He spits at the ground and grumbles and goes over to the dead bodies. Kneeling down, the barbarian checks the bodies and finds nothing besides a dagger on each one. Old too. Placing a hand to each one, he raises it up and blood is on each one. Strange. After the group gets out of the sewers, five guards are standing near the man. They seem to be interogating him. The dire wolf stands neare him, guarding the man. When the group comes up from the sewers, one of the guards turns "Why were you in the sewers? Pelorians? And who is this man?" The guard points at Fenris who in turn growls and goes to grab his blade but stops. Phillip tells them they went into the sewers to get his pack back. He doesn't know who took it or why just that he lost it and that something big and dark that he saw freaked him out and he ran. Three more guards arrive and head into the sewers. Phillip seeems like he snapped and was asking everyone for help.

Also there is nothing identifiny marks or whatnot in the purse. It just seems like a normal everyday purse. Whatever else what was in it is gone besides the basic female items. Same as the bag. The only thing missing is the odd wand he mentioned but everything else is there even the odd several small relgionus marks he mentioneed probably like a heirloom. Nothing magical, all are small. Maybe given to him by his wife or kids or just collecect from the sewers.
