Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The dwarf, his head still ringing after his last spell, smiled at the woman. "Be me guest girlie...my head is still ringin' after last time."

While the woman casts her spell, the dwarf tries to determine the sequence of which tile goes where.

Ballast looks around, surprised, and then back at his compatriots.  "Where did Fin go?  Did he go scout ahead?"  If there was something more sinister at work here, if they were being stalked, he wanted to know what enemy he would be facing.  He grips his trident with one hard fist and goes to the end of the hallway cautiously, looking up and down the corridor to see if there was any sign of the man.

Cumarinda joins the others in looking around for any signs of the elven rogue.

"Fin? Where are you handsome rascal? Fin?" she calls out.

After a moment she looks to the others, "I'm sorry, I didn't even see him leave.
We should continue our mission and with the blessings of Pelor, he will appear again."

Brankx, still preoccupied with the wall, looks around. "Huh...Fin is missing? Knowing him he probably found somethin' shiny and got lost"

The dwarf's mannerisms were less concerned and more irritated. "He know's how t' find us."

The dwarf then continues looking at the wall

Each of the plaques have their individual marking. Fenris grunts and starts to head back the way he came but keeps within eyeshot. He tilts his head and pulls a dagger and note from the wall before heading back to the magical barrior.

Brankx stands in front of the barrier, the three tablets in front of him, and he looks at the markings. With a smile, the dwarf begins putting in each tablet into the holes, and when the third is in, stands back, looking at the barrier

Slightly frustrated at having to split her concentration, Cumarinda's smile fades slightly as she watches both Fenris and Brankx go about their separate tasks. She resumes smiling and then looks curiously at the note and blade that Fenris comes back with.

The barbarian grumbles and holds the dagger and the note to the cleric. When the dwarf puts them in the right positions, the magical wall slowly dissapears revealing a closed door.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Ballast looks back and forth between the corridor behind them and the new door in front of them.  It seemed so strange that the group would accept the disappearance of Fin so casually.  If he had gone scouting with Fenris like before and had not come back, would they have bothered to look for him?  It was something to ponder during the long, quiet hours of the watch.

"It is hoped Fin returns from his explorations unharmed," Ballast says quietly, and looks at the door.  "Is the door locked?  Or was it only covered with the magic?"

Brankx looks at the door, all indications he hadn't heard Balayst, but as his concentration was on the door he answered. "Me guess is that the magic was concealing th' door. As to locks and traps, i dunno. Of all th' times fer fin to disapear....the dang fool."

He looked at the others. "I could look, but i'm no locksmith.....i'm an arcanist."

"Wait," the young cleric said to the other two, "Maybe there is something we can learn from this note that Ballast found."

Carefully sheathing the dagger, she read the note aloud to the gathered group.

With their clever-handed lock-opener gone, Ballast had been about to try the door before opening it the "warforged way", but paused the healer's request.  More knowledge would be very useful here.

"Found it. Not warforged." Fenris grunts as the group is about to enter.

Found on the note is the following:

"I had to leave. This place was forboding. I appologize for doing as such and left the dagger for anyone to use. We will meet again."

Brankx looked at the note and swore, both in common and dwarvish. hen he calmed, he looked at the others with a stormy look in his eyes. "Damn fool thief up and left us....if i see him again i'll turn him into a lizard and cook him with a fireball!"

Brankx was obviously irritated by the loss of the rogue.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 254):

Cumarinda briefly pouted, an expression that while somewhat childish was also what many would call cute and endearing.

She closed her eyes and sighed, "Well may Pelor's light shine on all of his future efforts. For good or for ill." She regained her smile as she looked over her remaining party members. "With Pelor's blessing, we will carry on. But we shall not fear because we have Light of the Sun beside us."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

If no one else wants the dagger, Ballast will carry it for now.  The lock-opener is gone, and they still had a task to accomplish.

"Fin should be well.  He is a smart man, if not overly courageous.  Let us try the door."

Ballast first tries to open the door in a normal way, pushing, pulling, turning the latch or knob, whichever seems to be the right way.  If that doesn't work, he will try applying more strength to the situation, to see if the door is stuck.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

"Dwarf." The barbarian stares at him."I will defend him." Few words but from Fenris they are indeed serious. His eyes narrow on him, and he turns as Ballast opens the door easily.

Standing in the room which is about thirty by thirty, about well twenty feet tall is a coffin. Located in the center with it is a fish man. Standing on either side are two more. Three it seems. It stares at Ballast and rises up. The other ones pull out their weapons-armed with crossbows and tritons. The one in charge holds up a staff. He grins and they prepare to fire!

Behind him rests a chest and on the walls are six coffins, not looking disturbed.

It seems that the sea devils were ready this time.  Ballast grips the hilt of his new magical sword, as it seemed fitting to face what had to be some kind of head priest with a weapon of magical power, and charged the sea devil with a staff to keep him from working any magic or giving any commands!

Cumarinda watched as the warfarged began the battle.
"Fenris, take the one on the left side of Ballast and I'll take the right!" she shouted to the elf barbarian.

Bringing both the enchanted long sword and shield to bear, she closed in on the fish man.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Brankx was not phased  by Fenris's outburst about the rogue, in fact he felt an inner warmth at the protectiveness of the warrior. When he glared at Brankx, he held his gaze for a second, then snorted. "Defend him if ye wish, but i'll not hold me togune. We all have opinions, and though i don't deny his skills or his friendship, he is still a fool fer leaving"

he followed the warrior in and saw the three fish men and rolled his eyes. "Why can't ye stay in ye filthy ponds!" as he spoke he reached into a pouch, retrieving spell components and chants looking at the staff wielding enemy. A purple/green ball of energy flies for the beast, but misses, hitting the coffin with a steaming sizzle.

The barbarian charges into the fray! He swings at the mage! The massive sword rips into the head of the creature. It rips it off as the creature is thrown backwards killing it!

Flanking Fenris, they drop their weapons and pulls out their tridents! They attack the barbarian! Both hit their marks and one of them misses horribly with their teeth!
Fenris: Take 20 Damage!

The cleric moves but misses, now flanking the barbarian.

The warforged charges and slams his weapon. It keeps standing but its wounded.

Brankx fires his acid! It hits the one the warforged attacks but it remains standing.
