Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

With Fenris, Ballast and Cumarinda all engaged with it in close quarters, the dwarf steps back, cursing his lack of magic at hand. In the past, he relied in his spells a lot, and it never failed him, but he never had faced anything as formidable as a mummy. He looked at the staff gathered from the Water demon, wondering if it had any qualities aligned with undead....an area the dwarf had little experience and interest in. He could do nothing

...or could he.

the dwarf closed his eyes, steeling his mind and slowly made his way around the mummy, preparing to attack.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The warforged's blue blade combined with the strange white longsword of the cleric hit the mummy. It crumbles and collapsed to the ground. Fenris takes his elven blade and watches the creature fall. He stands there looking dazed and out of it.

OOC
Mummy has been defeated! Good job!

So:
Anyone checking the area/tomb of the mummy?

The sahuagins have no real loot.

The sahuagin mage has a quarterstaff (Brankx has it)

Brankx, Sighing, looked at the others with some concern. "A mummy! Moradin's beard.....that was somethin' to see." His tone was a mixture of concern and exhilaration.

He placed his staff and the staff of the sahuagin mage on the ground as he searched the area including the tomb. "Before we leave, I have ter rest and memorise me spells...I don't want another suprise without me magic."

he rummaged around but clearly wasn't adept at searching. "What ye waiting fer...an invitation. Look around!"

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The young cleric stared at the magic sword with an expression of both awe and confusion for long moments after the white glow had faded from the blade.

Quietly she lay her shield aside, gripped the haft of the sword with both hands, closed her eyes, bowed her head and knelt in supplication, her lips making silent prayers.

She quickly jumped to her feet, regaining her shield almost instantly, as the sigh of the dwarf mage broke the post battle silence. Her expression slowly relaxed as she listened to his words, nodding in agreement throughout.

As Brankx began to search their surroundings, Cumarinda spoke, her voice sounding bright and cheery again. “Now don't forget that our success in this journey belongs nearly as much to the Sun Father as it does to us. If you cannot spare a prayer to Pelor, a tithe given to his representative in his name will do as well. Also, I promise to make us a fine meal after we return.”

She paused briefly before adding, “After we have searched this place, I too need to need time for rest, prayer and food. I suggest that we determine who will stand watch over the rest of us while we sleep.”

For any who were looking her way, they would see that her radiant smile had also returned.

The cleric notices a set of gloves, a cloak, and two rings in the coffin of the mummy.

Shaking his head, the barbarian grunts. His hand rests on his sword and the other on the cleric's shoulder.

Ballast takes a moment to polish the mummy dust from his sword, and speaks up as Cumarinda stares her own sword.  "My sword was glowing as well.  I thought you'd like to know.  I can guard the entrance while everyone rests and sleeps, if this a place we wish to rest.  Fenris, you fought very well and took you wounds with bravery," he says, nodding at Fenris.

With the finding of the rings and gloves, the dwarf indicates to bring them close. "I don't have th' ability to see if they be magical until i rest, but when i do i will see."

The dwarf keeps the items close to the newly found staff, and rummaging through his pack, takes out a waterskin and his spellbook. He then sits and begins his rest and preparation

"I die. Come back." The barbarian speaks in a rough tone, covered in blood and gore. He doesn't wipe it off, seeming like he relishes it. Fenris grins at the warforged, putting his sword to his back and looks down into the coffin."More stuff." Yes Fenris-more stuff. He looks at the cleric and grunts. He walks over to her and gets rather close, watching the woman. Odd man.

After handing over the magical looking items from the mummy's tomb, Cumarinda turns her full attention to the elf barbarian.

"Oh no Fenris. You don't get to die yet. The great God Pelor and I still need you."
she says with a confident smile. Suddenly, a dawning realization crosses her face and with a blush and a sputter, she quickly adds, "Um...Yes..we need you to help us help others!"

By the Shining Sun Father! she thought, Sometimes I talk far too much!

Silently she examines his wounded form, an expression of concern and frustration on her face. Taking a large cloth from her backpack, the young cleric clears away the blood and gore that covered the barbarian's wounds.

In a subdued voice Cumarinda tells Fenris, "I will call upon my waning blessings to bring you back to greater health my friend."

The only reaction she gets is a attempted kiss. He looks down at his wounds and grins as they are healed up. Grunting, the barbaran grabs all of the gear and motions for them to follow him into the small shrine room where he sits down.

Not quite caught off guard, Cumarinda turns her head just enough so that she catches Fenris' kiss on her cheek. With a blush and a slightly embarrassed look on her face, she chided the elf barbarian gently, "Fenris, please try to behave yourself. If public and in the depths of a tomb is not the place for such actions."

Just as she was about to continue she heard Brankx's comment and flushed once more before rapidly turning to face the dwarf, her hands on her hips. "I have every intention of remaining as close to all of you as is needed. I find Fenris' way of showing his gratitude endearing and honest, if somewhat more direct than I'm used to." she replied.

"Let's go to the shrine, we can rest there."
she finished, moving with the others.

Outside the door leading to the safe shrine area  and once everyone went in comes the gnome (Its closed):

Walking up to the door Dimble looks at it, and thinks to himself, If they have already entered any surprises may be taken care of, still...

He does a brief scan of the door and doorway to see any traps. Once satisfied, Dimple will press an ear to the door to see if he can hear anything on the other side

Curiosity sated he attempts to slow open the door.

"Live once." The barbarian grunts as he is 'turned away'. He stares at her and then stands by the doorway letting everyone get comfortable. He puts the gear that was found near one of the alters and goes back to stand near the door. He tilts his head and when the door is slowly pulled open, the burly elf stands in the doorway, with his sword out and swings downards stopping a few inches abouve the gnome's head! He growls.

Ballast starts at the appearance of a sudden gnome.  "Who are you and why are you roaming this tomb?" he demands, standing and raising his trident.  Tall and solid-seeming as a wall with heavy dark gray plating that has taken a beating, the warforged does not look like someone who will yield.

The dwarf, getting ready to rest and study in the shrine area, looks at the gnome and the group. "Fenris...try not to chop th' gnomes head before he speaks." With Fenris holding his sword and balayst intimidating as ever, the dwarf sighed. Time to be th voice o reason. He thought to himself.

"Damnit Ye two....let him though. He's on his own....he'd be a fool to take on th four of us on his own." He looked around. "...plus an extra set o eyes would be good down here."

He looked at the gnome. "So....cloak is it. What can Ye do to help us, other than be target practice fer our over-eager warriors here"

Keeping his hands in the air, Dimble backs up a step. Though compared to some it is a tiny step, "Well a voice of reason, if it is an impromtu interview...I am very stealthy with keen observation skills. I have some skills at breaking and entering, as well as removing devices that may harm. In addition, I have some skills in the arcane arts, to help me me confuse and distract as well."

The dwarf nods to the gnome. "Skills in observation are always welcome in a place like this. Even Ye more unsavoury skills may yet save us here. Be Ye warned though....we have faced water demons and even undead so far, this journey will not be easy."

He looks at the others with a nod. "Ye can prove Ye worth and keep those eyes open. I need rest to memorise spells." He settles down and organises his books. "The two charmers who greeted you are Fenris and Balayst...balayst is the metal man, Fenris is the talkative one. Th pretty girl is Cumarinda, our healer. I'm Brankx."

He settles to rest. The "Now if Ye don't mind I have ter rest so th next time a damn mummy sneaks up on us I can use some magic against it"

Ballast watches Brankx question the gnome, but was still not convinced of his answers.  "Who told you we were down here, Cloak?  And why risk yourself here?"

They had traveled with Fin for a while, and working here in the crypts to determine the source of the noises and trouble was only the smallest part they were paying for their security in the village after their ship had gone down.  If Cloak was a native, why hadn't he joined with Cumarinda before this?  If he was a stranger, why throw his lot in with a bunch of shipwrecked strangers?  His coming into the tomb without them noticing spoke well of his stealth, and one supposed a true, selfish thief would not announce his abilities so blatantly, but he was still a sudden oddity.

Dimble sighs as he sets his pack down. He had known this would not be easy but still honesty was always best with potential allies. "It is known in the village you are down here. I myself am not native here, my mother is a longtime friend of the local apothecary and I have been apprenticed here for a while. When I heard a group was actually going to come down here, my curiosity piqued so as quickly as I could I gathered my supplies, and followed to offer my help."

As he talks, the gnome takes a sliw walk around the room, letting his eyes look over everything.
