The barbarian grunts as he is given the ring. He looks at it for a moment before slipping it on. Fenris watches the dwarf and nods his head and leans against the wall as the rest of the magic items are given out.

Fin took the dagger offered by Brankx and looked it over.  It often surprised the rogue how a magical enchantment never seemed to make the appearance of any better.  He shrugged his shoulders and put the dagger on his belt.

Ballast fits the cloak around his shoulders, pleased at the softness of it, and puts the sword about his waist. It was the first magical weapon he had owned, and it was a comfort to have it in a place where the dead were walking.

"Then shall we try the other corridor that we skipped?  Or do we have the right magical things to open the magical door?"

"I'm not eager to try to force a magical barrier without the willingness of a mage. I'd suggest we try the way not yet taken, maybe it will let us avoid the magic wall." said the young cleric while walking and getting used to the balance and heft of the larger metal shield.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

With the group ready to leave the meditation area again, they make their way to another section of the tombs. It seems its the only area left to check besides the magic wall. Fenris takes the front and peers into the room. Same size as before. Four sahuagin surrounded a coffin that is open. They speak in some unknown language. One of them raises its hands and they seem to be praying.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Brankx couldn't help but sigh at the mention of the sahuagin....4 this time. The number of them didn't worry the dwarf much....the group had faced two and had not a scratch. What worried the dwarf is why they were here? This was the third group of water demons, the biggest yet, n a earthly tomb....a place they shouldn't be.

The dwarf shrugged away his  concerns and grasped his staff, pulling a scroll from his pack. He held his hand up, indicating them wait as he used the scroll (something he was hoping not to use yet). Still, his spells were depleted a little, and he had to fight smart.

Reading the scroll in a whisper, the dwarf finished casting, the scroll turning to ash in his hand as a field of light came forward, and a celestial dog emerged, looking at Brankx expectantly <OOC: casts summon monster 1 from scroll.....summons celestial dog>

Brankx then nods to the others, awaiting their moves. On their count, he rushes in, stepping to the side, and commands the dog protect him, then chants in his dwarven language, again, causing a bluefish force to appear above his hand, and shoot as two arcane missiles to strike the sahuagin with his arms up.

Seeing that there were four of the evil fish men to be dispatched, Cumarinda considered taking action against them but at first, wasn't sure what to do. After seeing the others attacking the sahuagin, she knew what to do.

Raising her heavy mace and securing her shield in place, Cumarinda shouted as she charged in to attack the remaining foe. "As I serve the brightness of light, so shall I smite you in the name of the Great God Pelor!"

The sahugain group launches their loaded crossbows at the door missing the barbarian.

The celestial dog rush in and bites at a sahugain but misses!

Brankx casts the spell hitting one of them.

Cumarinda charges in, swinging her sword but misses her mark flanking the dog.

Ballast moves in and attacks one of them. It kills the one flanked by the dog and cleric.

Fin fires at the enemies, hitting one.

Fenris charges in, attack the one the warforged hits. His weapon cuts the head off of the sahugain!

The sahugain goes to hit the warforged but misses, and the other attacks the cleric hitting her!

OOC
Just to speed it up.

Brankx pulls out his crossbow and fires missing the targed.

The cleric swings her sword but misses her mark.

The warforged spears the sahugain, killing it.

With a roar, the barbarian rips into the last creature. It falls to the ground dead. He turns towards the cleric and tilts his head and then at the bloodspot on her abdomen. He goes to press the wound tightly and grunts. Odd.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

As the last of the fish men fall and the danger seems to be (momentarily) ended. Cumarinda starts to speak as Fenris approaches her only to have her words cut off by his hand on her wound.

With a wincing smile she gently pats his hand, "I do appreciate your concern but I have been gifted with the means to heal my wounds as well. Take my shield for a moment and I will call upon the divine magic."

Handing him her shield she falls to one knee, then speaks the words and makes the passes with one hand, while the other rests upon her wounded abdomen.

After the quick casting, she stands looking renewed her wound reduced to nothing.

Fin shouldered his bow once more.  He looked over at Cumarinda and was thankful her wound wasn't worse.  A grim smile crossed the rogue's face as he began to search the room, again paying close attention to the bodies of the fallen sahuagin as well as the coffin they had been surrounding.

The dwarf begins to search the area, helping Fin with the fallen beasts, the coffin and the area.

All that is found is within the coffin. It looks as the same as the others, with the name 'Henton' across it like the others. A set of goggles rests inside of it as well as a pair of boots. The body looks well rested, like it wasn't there very long but long enough. And a crest is inside of it as well with a butterfly across it.

OOC
Think the group has a butterfly, a moth and a spider? If not there should be three total :)
A pair of boots
Goggles

The rogue gathered the plaque, boots and goggles from the coffin and handed them to Brankx.  "Third plaque we've found," he said to the dwarf, "and all reference the family name of 'Henton.'  Two might be a coincidence, but I think it's safe to say that three is some sort of pattern or clue."

Turning to Cumarinda, Fin asked, "Any particular reason you can think of that might cause these fish people to target this one family?"

Brankx looks at the last plaque with a lick of his lips. He was eagre to solve the puzzle of the wall, and took the butterfly plaque and the boots and goggles. Given the items found so far, he suspected they had some magical qualities, but he would test that later.

He placed his pack on his shoulder after placing the items in his pack, and grasped his staff. "I've learnt quickly that tehre are very few coincidences in this existance boy. The fact they're the same name is no suprise...this is a family crypt. My surprise is what is lookin' fer them."

He snorts and kicks one of the water demon corpses, then looks at the others. "Let's get to th' wall...i suspect they may be lookin fer what's behind that."

"Hmmm..," said the cleric thoughtfully. She paused for a moment seeming to consider the question and then answered "It seems to me that this family may have something that the fish men want. What that is, I have no idea. However, it would seem that whatever it is, I think none of the fish men we've seen so far have found it." She looked around at the others and added, "But I'd suggest that we find it first or it could be dangerous."

Seeming taken aback by the stare of the barbarian elf, Cumarinda considers the three tiles. the family name, and she and the others had seen so far. "Let me see..."

After a long moment, she seemed to come to some conclusions and with a renewed smile she addressed the party.

"I recall that the Henton family held a variety of positions throughout their history and are well known and beloved by the people of Korthos. They were known to be either leaders or guides and protectors and priests."

She paused again and then addressed the dwarven mage.

"Given what we've discovered, I think that the three tiles could be keys of some kind, but a magical detection spell might yield more information."

Cumarinda steps close to the three slots in the wall and looks to Brankx. "If you would, please let me cast my detection spell upon the three tiles and determine if they are supposed to go into the three slots here."

With Brankx's permission, she calls upon the divine powers to cast Detect Magic upon the tiles.
