Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Following him over to the window, the fire-hair colored woman stands just behind the wizard, her eyes still tearful but also glimmering with hope. "Please Master Lars," she asks in voice trembling with emotion while she pulls out an armful of furs, "I have these furs that Fenris gave me if you need them. Please share with me what you've discovered." Wiping her face of the tears slowly trickling down her face, she looks at his face, looking for any signs of reply.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The mage watches her for a moment as she approaches. He crosses his arms "I sense nothing. Not a single trace as if he does not exist. I cannot explain it." Lars takes a deep breath "Yet when my spell was about to end..." He holds his hands out "Fenris is inside of you." Gently rubbing the side of his head, trying to compensate it and he takes a deep breath and with a hand he points at her chest then to her stomach "Well to a degree." He goes to place a chair near her "This is well..." Lars seems dumbfounded for the first time in a long, long time.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Ballast was not terribly good at comforting others about death, death and deactivation being such a different thing for his kind.  But he had offered what physical support he could to Cumarinda as she had dug at the mountain.  When Lars had returned, Ballast was glad to see the old wizard, and glad enough to hear his news.  At least part of their quest had helped the village, even if the cost had been high.  "Fenris is the finest protector one could ask for," he told Cumarinda during their long, cold vigil.

Brankx's apprenticeship was a good thing.  Ballast was proud that his friend had chosen to learn from what was clearly a very learned and experienced magician.  "You will be a very strong wizard - I hope to see what you have mastered in the coming years."

But when Lars had done a magical scrying of Fenris, and made his most peculiar pronouncement, Ballast was baffled.  "Fenris... inside Cumarinda?" he said, shaking his head slowly in bewilderment.  "How?"

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Before she responds to Lars, she silently falls to her knees and turns her face into the sun  in prayer. "Oh Sun Father Pelor! Please grant your humble servant peace in the form of knowledge. I need to know the fate of my Fenris, is he alive or dead. Have I done all I can do for you here."

Cumarinda nods quietly then asks,"I am the only one of my profession here, right Master Lars? I can accept that Fenris lives only inside me. If you can tell me more I would appreciate it. Also, I need to know what has happened here since we left."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The wizard glances outside through the window and rubs his beared chin. He slowly looks back at the fighter and cleric "Others can be taught like my daughter. But that isn't what you want. The barbarian does live inside of you but I have never seen it before. Nothing like that. I am confused as you are, if not more. There is little I can tell you." He goes to rest his hands over her shoulder "Been about two days or more. The orbs began to grow stronger and the mountain fell. Hence why I went looking for you. The orb protects this place as long as I can keep it safe and secure. It protects Korthos from the weather. And no other sahuagin arrived. The area that you found was boarded up and prepared by the villagers and of course myself. No one will get into the village in that fashion. Its safe for now. More guards are being trained but we have no one to train them other then the smith. He gets the job done. And a wall has begun to be build." He lowers his hands "Fenris indeed lives within you and within Ballast yet different. This is out of my expertise and I want to explain it, and little that passes by me I can explain. But this? This is far above me." The mage seems rather surprised. He seems dumbfounded "A ship did make it here so if you wish, I asure you can get passage from this place that is if you choose to leave. I will contemplate what occured and will send you word if I come across anything." He walks over to the warforged and gently places his hand upon the massive warriors shoulder "Keep her safe for you are now her protector."

"I'm happy to hear that a ship made it here safely, hopefully their success will be a sign that more ships will be coming to bring people and goods here." she remarked cheerfully, her smile slowly returning to her face. Still looking at Lars she asks, "Did another priest arrive here on the new ship, or am I wrong to think I am still the only clergyperson here? Also, I don't remember anyone mentioning whether there was a temple or shrine here?"

"You know I am a mage but how would I know that eh?" Lars crosses his arms over his chest "If you wish to leave, alright. We'll survive, don't you worry. We don't need clergy whatevers to heal anyone. Got medicines and I bet we got some who can heal just fine, mark my words. And we got no shrine or temple here. But a place can be set up." His attitude changes to that of a more serious tone "You have help the people here greatly. If you wish to stay, so be it. Or to leave, that is fine as well. You will be missed and will always have a place here, mark my words. I may not be the easist mage to get along with but you have earned my trust. Anything you need, just ask."

Cumarinda speaks apologetically, "I'm sorry, I thought you might know who and what your neighbors are and what they do. I forget that you've only come back recently." She bows slightly to Lars before continuing, "I appreciate your offer and I believe that we will both call upon you again. Thank you once more for your hospitality and sympathy to a young and sometimes foolish woman and her allies. Please excuse us, we need to go and report to the mayor. May Pelor's everbright everyday blessings be upon you!"

From there, Cumarinda and Ballast will go and find the mayor.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

"That was rather rude. I attempted to find your shall we say friend, Cumandria? I travelled to what appeared to be your designation. Brought you here and now my so called friend you insulted me by stating I don't know who my neightbors are and what they are doing? I'm sorry I don't keep tabs on them every moment. Yes I know this place rather well but expecting me to know what they are doing is rude. I do not know what they have in stock or what their trivial matters are." Out comes the grumpy Lars everyone knows. His tone is serious "Go on now. I have a apprentice to teach. Begone." He holds the door open and slams it shut behind you.

Outside within the main square, the mayor is talking to the blacksmith and sees you. He hurriedly approaches and goes to clasp the warforges hand as well as the clerics. Brankx is visible entering the inn and after a few moments returns and goes to Lars home. He enters and closed the door. Besides the mayor and smith, several others seem to be waiting and are conversing amonst themselves. The door leading into the apothocary is open and the gnome sits outside smoking a pipe. The air outside is cool and refreshing and there is no sign of snow within the confinces of the village. The ship looms in the dock with several people moving about on it. Its docked and the plank leading down from it is locked in place. Everyone seems to be in a decent mood and some are shocked. The village seems peaceful.

"What a day! Every little thing can just go wrong." From the way down the mountain, wet, covered in snow and trying to cover with her cloak a female form walked on half hunched. Ocacionaly pushing the snow off her shoulders and head with a hand. Her tanned skin and explorer outfit made her look out of place on the cold place.

She made her way asking for the place name and  where to get a room. She put her hood back, revealing her white hair.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

After greeting Mayor Storr, Cumarinda tells the story of their adventure to Misery's Peak. She describes the roguish ally they had briefly, the terrible monsters they've seen and the great sacrifice it cost for the mission to succeed.

With her eyes still tearful, she manages to smile again at the end of the tale. "I know that Fenris, my hero, is finally resting in quiet forests bathed in Pelor's bright glory. We four set out to save this village and this island from the horrors that threatened it This we have done despite magic, monsters, and false allies against us. Now we need rest for our bodies and minds."

"The mindflayer is dead? What of the dragon? False allies?" The mayor motions for the two of them to sit, and he sits down as well, resting his hands "Fenris is dead?" He looks like he is in a bit of shock after hearing what has happened and trying to make heads and tails of the ordeal "This place is safe for now. Lars had enforced the runes. More people want to guard Korthos and we are slowly getting ships. Well one of them but I assume more will come. Thank you. Is there anything I can do to help? A home can be provided in time but you are welcome to stay inside the Inn. Room and board will not be asked."

Cumarinda quietly clears her throat and then adds, "We didn't see the Mindflayer and its mininons die but with the Dragon's freezing breath and the falling of the mountain peak ontop of it and its minions, I believe that everything besides the white dragon is buried there. I know that Fenris now only lives inside me." she concludes with a slightly sad smile while pointing to her heart.

With her full smile returning she nods to the Mayor, "Yes thank you, we will need a place to stay for now. Tell me, are there any buildings devoted to the Gods here? I feel that besides the magical protections here, the people here need strong spiritual protection and guidance to ward away evil. A church to Sunfather Pelor can also serve as a place for healing of the body and soul, a sanctuary for the people to come to whenever needed, a safe place for the children to learn and grow and a place to feed the needy."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

"Until a place is prepared, you can stay in the inn. As for a place designate to Pelor, there is the crypt but that is not a place of worship. It seems we need to prepare a place of worship as few do what is needed here. I assume Lars brethren will prepare it but its need time to be built and we have little in the ways of resource at the moment as more of the village are building a wall and providing what is needed. I can of course get some of them to start preparing it but we need materials but with the ships coming that could be arranged and whatnot. Lars protects this place now which I am grateful for. I am grateful for what you and your allies have done and a place for Fenris will be made inside the catombs in memory of him." The man rests his hand upon her shoulder "If there is anything you or your allies need, I will see to it. I am but a lonely mayor. Room and board, perhaps some minor trinkets as well." He motions over to the apochary and nods "He will do what is told, just mention it is for me and the blacksmith. They have little but I bet they can help you out." He smiles.

One of the woman doing some minor shopping for vegatables near the ship mentions it is called Korthos and motions where the inn is located as well as the mayor who she points out speaking to two others-Ballast and Cumanrinda.

A kid rushes towards his mom and tugs her shirt. She looks down at him and he keeps looking back at the ocean "Momma whats that?" The woman looks over where he came from and takes his hand moving towards it and stops "Its a bird. A crane." He tilts his head and she keeps following him.

Korthos? Looks like that was the best she would get from that woman. With a nood and and her thanks she made her way to the mayor. Her eyes stayed on the golem to the the side before focusing on the old man.

"Scuse me sir?" She began when the conversation paused. "Can you tell me where this place is? I think I lost my way around, is this place close to the keep? Have never seen so much of THIS ever." She could finaly feel the snow falling down at her sides.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Ballast adds what detail he can when Cumarinda speaks of their adventures on the peak, backing up Fenris incredible bravery that had saved the village from those who were preying upon it.

When the mayor offers the hospitality of the inn, a place for Cumarinda's god, and a resting place for Fenris (or maybe, more accurately, and remembering place), Ballast gives his thanks.

"It is a kindness, and we thank you."  Ballast has little need of food or a bed, though occasionally he does like a private space.  He is more than willing to turn his own knowledge of blacksmithing and ship repair to doing what he can to aid in the construction (or renovation) of Cumarinda's shrine to the sun.  During the night hours, he continues to whittle little toy boats, and tries his luck at carving a dragon, and even Fenris himself, from small blocks of wood.  It is an amusing pastime, and for certain it makes him easy to find, as he usually sets up his carving station outside the inn.  The enormous, black-plated warforged must be a odd sight to some, carving tiny boats and beasts with his massive hands.

Cumarinda listens thoughtfully to Mayor Storr and Ballast. Her face then brightens with inspiration, "Mayor, Ballast, I've been struck by with insight. Perhaps while helping to build the wall around the village, we could also work on building a shrine to Pelor." With a wide smile she turns to Ballast, "Ballast, Could you find me the usable parts from boats and ships that have ended up in the waters near the Shipwreck Shore? Mayor Storr, are there any unfinished or unseaworthy boats here?" Between both sources, I think we could have enough to build a shrine or even a chapel."

Just as she finishes that thought, the young woman with wavy hair the color of fire, big brown eyes, sun-kissed skin, wearing robes and the holy symbol of Pelor the Sun Father; turns to address the newcomer with an affable smile, "This is the Village of Korthos, on the island of the same name, in the Straits of Shargon. I am Cumarinda Imbrex, Priestess of the Great Sun God Pelor. Who are you?"

The look at the Pelor simbol telling her there could be assilum at the least. She rised a hand as if to scratch her head, but lowered a second later. "I am Zhera, honored priesterss." She ended almost questioning tone. She sounded a little unsure of how adress the woman. "Just an adventurer. That feels like bot feeling like a drowned rat....." She trailed off looking to the side.

I am Cumarinda Imbrex, Priestess of the Great Sun God Pelor. Who are you, horned one?"

Ballast strokes his chin at Cumarinda's suggestion - he wasn't certain of the need for the gesture, but it had often been made by sailors deep in thought on the ships he'd served on, and he'd picked up the habit.  "That has much merit.  I can certainly look for such things on the harbor floor.  That would be much faster than making things from the beginning, and I am more familiar with fixing ships than I am with making structures on land."

As the strange woman, Ballast looks at her curiously.  "Zhera, I am Ballast.  May I ask, how did you come to this place?"  After all, several of them had been blown here by wind and weather on ships, and the village was small and for a good long while had been (and was again) protected by magic, while outside was a dragon and other great dangers.  Chance strangers would seem odd indeed.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The mayor nods his head "I will see to the gathering of what is needed for the shrine." He turns just as a guard heads towards him "If you do not mind, I have business to attend to."

Its hard to tell if the rogue tells the warforged what brought her there but before she goes into the inn she has time.

The rogue and cleric decided to go possibly into the inn to chat while the warforged scours the area in search of anything of interested. He finds nothing of any value-no wealth, no items. Nothing besides old, drenched wood stuck into the ground of the ocean. Looks like anything of value was taken away or dropped down to a much further area-too far for the warforged to go. He does find a old symbol of Pelor that is old and rusted but the alchemist walks by and offers to take it to probably clean it with some solvants. He spends time talking to a few people and gathers up enough supplies for the shrime while the cleric finds a spot near the inn for it and prepares it for the shrine. A few people do bring nails and hammer and help out. The smith offers a hand as well and it seems the shrine will be built easily.

-------------------------------------
OUTSIDE:
-------------------------------------
Moving from the shore, a cloaked form heads for the inn and stops as the warforged drops down a few small logs "Do you need aid?" He asks despite the other people doing what is needed.

In time-a few hours pass and the shrine is built near the entrance of the inn. A place for prayer. It is indeed small but just a area to do a quick prayer or ask for aid. But the alchemist doesn't return the the shrine, probably not done yet.

Inside the inn, Cumandria and Zhera sit at a table. The innkeeper brings over some stew, bread and water.

Following the cleric as they made their way to the inn. The place looked cozy. And the dry of a bit enclosed space made her feel better already. After hanging the cloak close to the fire to let it dry she couldn't help but curse for not paying more for a non cotton one.

Making her way to the shared table she sat acros for her. "Have you been her long Pristess? The mayor looked happy to help you around" She paused long enough to thank for the food and ask the room cost.
