Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Brankx was glad for the warforged safety and presence....it was reassuring to have another fighter and familiar face. He looked at Cumarinda with a smile. "I assure ye, Ballast be friend to us girl....annd he will prove it soon i guess. As fer him in there, more the point is what in the nine hells is a water breather doing in an underground tomb?"

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

"Welcome Ballast. As to the sea creature, it looks wicked but it's bowed in holy prayer. Maybe we should chance speaking first. If none of you will, I will take the risk with my mace and shield close at hand. I await your decision." whispered the priestess of Pelor as she readied her shield.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Glancing at the warforged, the elf nods his head. His hands tense along his blade, and he turns towards the creature. A grunt comes from him and he decides to go towards the sahuagin with a drawn blade being in the front. He stands there, about 20' away.

The sahugain looks up and stands. He slams his hand against the coffin as two skeletons rises up, armed with longswords and shields but they do not attack.

Brankx, stepping in behind Fenris, slams the butt of his staff on the ground, no longer whispering. "Well, and his is a first...a water breather summoning undead. This is gettin' interesting!"

He stood ready to utter a spell as soon as either of the skeletons or the sahigain made a move, but stood glaring at it. "Make a move fish face, and by moradins beard, I'll make sure you'll wish you were trapped in a desert!"

Ballast, seeing any attempt at stealth has been abandoned, levels his trident at the sahuagin and charges with the same inevitability as a lightning rail engine.  His feet pound on the floor like a heavy warhorse as he thrusts his trident at the sea devil with powerful precision!

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Brankx, seeing the blur of movement, couldn't help but hold in a groan. Damn me...he reminds me of my cousin! He thought to himself. In the split second the thoughts crossed his mind, the dwarf acted, knowing all too well the warforged had the sahugian occupied, he was determined to do something about the skeletons.

Reaching into his pouch, he withdrew two small spell components....powdered rhubarb an the dried stomach of an adder. In reality, he was waiting for an opportunity to try this spell, an drow seemed a good time as any. Muttering in a language unknown to most, the dwarf crushed the ingredients and holding his hands a few inches apart, facing each other, he looked at one of the skeletons. Within moments, a green/purple glob of energy grew inbetween his hands an dupon completion, sent it towards the skeleton.

Knocking an arrow, he squinted at the skeletons for a split second and then took aim at the sahuagin as he released the bowstring.

Her hand floated to her holy symbol, which she held in front of herself. She prepared to take action should the attacks of the others failed to destroy the sea creature and its undead support.

"Lay your foul undead creatures back to rest or be ready to see them destroyed!" she shouted to the sea monster.

<OOC: She holds action, preparing to turn the skeletons when/if they move to attack.>

The barbarian charges the Sahuagin, ripping into him but it doesn't kill it.

Fin moves towards the foe but misses!

Cumarinda waits for a moment.

Brankx's acid spell hits the Sahuagin. It stumbles backwards and falls to the ground.

The warforge seeing the Sahuagin dead, charges at one of the skeletons, hitting it.

One standing near the fighter swings its sword and misses.

The other skeleton flanks and attacks the warforged but misses its mark.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The skeletons turn and try to get away from the warforged as the cleric turns them! They are destroyed by the power of Pelor, crumbling into dust leaving their long swords upon the ground.

Fenris tilts his head and looks over at the cleric. His eyes narrow and then he shrugs. The barbarian gathers the long swords and drops them in front of her, grinning before moving over to the sahuagin. He kneels down and checks it for anything of value. He grabs the sahugan's tridant and tosses it to the warforged and stands up.

After a few whispered words, the woman with he fire-colored hair smiled shyly to the others as she let her holy symbol fall back to rest on her chest.

"Thank you, Fenris. Well, Ballast, it might have been nice to try to talk to the fish-man-thing before ending it but after it summoned the undead, it revealed its true evil nature. Thank the Shining Lord for our deliverance."

She paused to carefully pick up the swords and put them away before speaking again, "I believe that many things could make sounds here but let us continue to move forward and discover if there are more evil fish-men-things."

Stepping to the side, she gestured to Fenris and Ballast with a slight bow and open hands, inviting them to lead the group.

Brankx sighs as the enemies are all taken care of. He turns to the Cleric and smiles. "Nice work girlie.....with Ye here at our sides, we be in good company." He looks at ballast and just nods, then goes over to the sahuagin and kneels, looking at the area. He then looks at ballast and cumarinda. "I believe Ye may be right lass....he may be th' cause but I doubt he is it. More to th' point is what is a sea devil doing underground.....he needs water to survive, and how in the nine hells did he summon undead?"

The dwarf looks in the area for any clues.

<OOC: 08:35, Today: Brankx Onyxshield rolled 7 using 1d20+4 (DAMN!)>

With a shrug, the dwarf stands, not knowing what he was looking for, and looked at the others.

"Let's get movin'...see what else is down here."

The barbarian grunts and puts a hand to his chest. He then points at the dead fish creature and shakes his head. Heck he ripped into him but what did the warforged do? Fenris growls and turns to head back up the stairwell, glancing at the cleric. He tilts his head for a moment then takes the lead.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Ballast shrugs expansively with a metallic creaking of his joints.  One could not always be the first in battle, sometimes it was enough to mop up.  The Adamatine were not swift, so it was better to be steady and thorough than the first in every charge.  He followed the barbarian, making certain that the others were coming after.  Somewhere in this place must be others of the same vile ilk, else the sea-devil would not have been so bold to be raising undead so close to the entrance...

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Fin was shocked at how quickly the group cut through the five foes.  "Maybe we should have gone after the dragon first," he said under his breath with a smile.

He stood still for a moment and watched with some amusement as the dwarf did a quick search of the area.  Only when Brankx was done did Fin follow doing his own once-over of the area, focusing on the body of the fallen sahuagin as well as the coffin.

11:43, Today: Fin rolled 26 using 1d20+6.  Search.

Opening the coffin, the rogue discovered what appeared to be a normal skeleton laying on a shield and longsword.  Additionally, the remains had rings on two different fingers.

"Well, what do we have here?"
Fin asked, as he slipped both rings off and examined them.  "Probably gold," he said as he eyed them closely, "but someone else would have to determine if either of them possessed special properties."  He held the rings out to Brankx.

Glancing over to Cumarinda, he was quick to add, "Not that any of this is simply ours for the taking."  He smiled sheepishly.

Cumarinda looked back towards the rogue with a disapproving expression, "Of course we are taking those rings into our protection until we can show them to the lady whose ancestors are buried here."

Turning to follow the barbarian elf she smiled to the others, "Let us all follow Fenris and continue to search for the forces invading this resting place."

Coming up behind Fenris she rested a hand on his shoulder and whispered, "You and I will talk in private sometime when you are ready."

Brankx looks suprised as he notes the glow of the items, allowing a smile in his face. "These rings are magical in nature, as to how, I am unsure yet. I can discover later. But, I suggest we take the sword and shield in the coffin too...they too are I understand with magic."

He holds the rings and places them in a pouch. "Unless Ye want to hold them, I will keep them safe until I discover their magical nature. If someone can carry th' sword and shield....I still need hands for casting."

Fin nodded at Brankx once he made his pronouncement about the magical qualities of the rings as well as the longsword and shield.

The rogue first glanced nervously at Cumarinda, but then began to extract the weaponry from beneath the skeleton as carefully as possible so as not to completely disturb the remains.

"You're a good man, Sir Balus Henton,"
Fin whispered as he removed the two items from the coffin.  "I have no doubt that these things will be of use to us as we delve further into your family's crypt."

Once the weapons were out, Fin handed them both to Ballast.

Turning to the others she looks into each of their eyes as she speaks, "We all know I am a stranger to you all. I know that I am younger than many of you. Yet, by the grace of the Sun god Pelor, I have been brought to join your company."

Pausing to smile at the others she continued, "Please listen for the sake of your spiritual selves and the woman who we are serving in this journey. We may find things of great value here but they do not belong to us. They belong to the family entombed here. Unless they are found on invading forces we are only keeping them for protection until this is over. Agreed?"

The dwarf nodded abd spoke. "How about this....anything of value thats found, be it magical or otherwise, if we take, when this is done we go to the mayor. if we find the owners, we explain th' suituation and offer them back. But if the owners give them to us willingly, or more th' point, we find no owners, then they are ours fer the claiming."

Ge walks up to the woman a warm smile on his face. "I'm no graverobber girlie, but way i see it is that anything down here may be hard to kill, and magic may help us survive. and, I'd rather us claim them than some bandits that use them against th' town"
