Re: Sarlacc for thought

You are all busy unloading your legit cargo when the ewok re-appears, out of breath and all hyped up about something. The unloading will take another hour at least. The hardluck is refueled leaving you a tidy sum of 2000 credits from your legit cargo run to share between the crew.

Re: Sarlacc for thought

Using the crane on the gravsled, X2 works with the others to load the oil in a way that will prevent to drums from tipping over.  Time consuming, but well worth the effort.  Safe arrival of cargo and its offloading is very important to a ship's crew.
When Jubjub returns, the droid pauses whatever he is doing to listen to the little furball.

Re: Sarlacc for thought

Wiping her brow, Jett was glad to have something to show for honest work — hard to come by in this galaxy, especially nowadays. Especially when the law wasn't exactly honest itself.

Once the Ewok appeared, chittering something to Brannexx, then to X2, but in earshot-ish of everyone else, Jett dusts her hands off and walks over, "Whoa-whoa, who said what about credits and sneak attacks? Nobody's taking our credits, I'll tell you that much."

In reply to Jett (msg # 251):

Jubjub slows down repeating what he said to whoever is there.

quote:
" Meechoo saw ta scum we oda ota meed thek. Ta choho od ta ky draag booba dos booogooicha bim. Targo im oootas bort us ota gunna jabba's cargo ho im ugba. Im bat im ooki bie bim da mooc ky draag botchus ota od zo?!"

I saw the scum we were to meet here. The sheriff of the sky dragon nest was threatening him. Saying he must meet us to take Jabba's cargo as he arranged. He said he would tie him up with Sky dragon innards to do so?!

The ewok points to some wires running along the inside of the ship, and continues his story,

"Meechoo nono boogato hyw im herbu do fratta.. ken ta sheriff and bim boogies herbu ta chawak toe waga mechawa mad ta icholo. Ta scum popo jabba's dughos dikot eco bub ta credits ta sheriff nub im herbu fodu sur im goe ta credits ub ta meedgo uth padja togu. Do kush chochobo noroway ta sheriff ta planning?"

I didn't understand why he would do that.. Then the sheriff and his guards would be ambushing us when we made the exchange. The guy buying Jabba's goods didn't even have the credits the sheriff said he would make sure he has the credits for the meeting with us though. Do you understand what the sheriff is planning?

"Kriffing great. And wow, keen ear on you, Zee. Your galaxy brain took our furry friend's take from Tired to Wired in less than twelve parsecs," Jett said, impressed by Zenna's quick parsing of JubJub's somewhat confusing story.

"OK, well we need those credits one way or another. One, maybe we split now and try to pawn off what we've got ASAP. I mean, not our fault this guy can't get his act together. Two, and I'm liking this more and more maybe, we could get that 'sheriff' before he gets us. I mean, now *we* have the element of surprise, not them, right?"

X2's series of beeps, chirps, whistles, and warbles is translated through the ship's coms.
We are going to need more weapons.  Correct?  I can use my sensors to better pinpoint where those waiting in ambush are located.  Thereby by taking away more of their element of surprise.  I can also monitor or jam their communications.  There is also the possibility that we can just leave, return to Jabba to let him know there was a planned ambush to just steal the cargo.  Or, we could even send him an encrypted message.

Re: Sarlacc for thought

"Oof, I don't know how kindly Jabba ever takes to being told 'oh sorry, there was problem.' We'd be fed to the Rancor before ever getting a chance to explain."

"But! X2, if you really *can* tap into the wire that this guy will be wearing and jam it, maybe he won't be able to call the cavalry. Zee, Brannex and I can hand over a dummy crate filled with who-knows-what — captain's old clothes, something anyway — while JubJub sneaks the credits right out from under our man, while he thinks the cops are listening in? Still, if we flat out jam it, they'll know something's up. Distractions anyone? You guys see a fire alarm you can trigger? Or some jail cells you could spring open? Anything that might draw the 'sheriff's' attention?"

Then Jett tapped X2 on the dome, "Told you we should've checked out the crate first! Cassandra's curse. No one listens until it's too late."

In the cargo bay, X2 slots into the grav sled and brings it online.  Carefully, he attempts to being it up to the new "coolant tank" so he can release Jabba's cargo into the bed.
The "coolant tank" is designed as a box qith a quick release to open it so things can be stored inside, or easily removed.

Re: Sarlacc for thought

A quick search on the system you are in reveals the following information:

Corellia has given rise to a people famous for their sentimentality and notorious for their recklessness. "Corellia for Corellians" is their philosophy, and the system has a history of attempted secession.

The enigmatic Celestials are believed to have assembled the Corellian system from preexisting planets, using a combination of buried repulsors and the hyperspace engine, Centerpoint Station. Around the star Corell, their arrangement took shape first Corellia, then Drall, then the double worlds of Talus and Tralus (orbiting each other with Centerpoint Station suspended between them, and finally Selonia.

Drall and Selonia appear to have had native species of their own, while Corellia's Humans may have been transplanted there by the Celestials. By 30,000 BBY, the Corellian system had become part of the Rakatan Infinite Empire. The Corellians later built hyperspace cannons to link their system to Coruscant and Duro, and by 25,000 BBY they had perfected the modern hyperdrive.

Corellia kept its surface largely rural by moving starship construction facilities into space. The capital city of Coronet became an eclectic bazaar for off-duty spacers and bargain hunters, while other cities traded on the natural beauty of Corellia's beaches, mountain peaks, and crystal swamps.

In 312 BBY, King Berethron e Solo abolished Corellia's monarchy. In time, control of Corellia fell to a Diktat, whose duties included maximizing Corellia's footprint in shipbuilding and interstellar trade. Currently during our glorious Emperor's reign, Corellia answers to the auspicious Imperial Moff Bandersnatch.

You are currently on centerpoint station orbited by Talus and Tralus. Both planets would be heavily industrialised but of course there are areas that are abandoned on both planets for various reasons. As said Correllia has been kept mostly rural and more of a recreational planet/bazar for spacers, again you would be able to find recluse areas to conduct business forested if thats what you want. Drall and Selonia both are currently more like prison planets for the native inhabitants. With the Mof Bandersnatch using his fleet resources limiting who comes and goes to these planets. All inline with the empires regulations on other races of course. The mof has chosen containment rather than outright invasion and continued subjugation of these planets.

I like the suggestion Jett. We should arrange the meeting where ky draags can’t land and go in with the grav sled. Then we can keep the cargo and take the credits from the scum setting us up. If we hide the ship well they won’t know how we are escaping. Maybe in a remote forest on correllia or abandoned industrial site on Talus and Tralus. Ooooh what’s in the box?

Says the ewok, his basic improving all the time. Before being distracted by the cargo crate as he runs his filthy paws over it.

Once he has the gravsled down to deck level, X2 uses the crane to position himself next to the crate.  Extending his s-comp, he plugs into the lock. He then scans the tiny computer inside for any informationon he might be able to glean.

"Oh snap!" Jett said, laying eyes upon the crate contents, "Nice. I suspected as much — but I didn't suspect it's be so slick a set."

She reaches for one of the 22T4s... and the look on her face says she really wants to keep it.
"This is an ISB special. Man, no wonder that Agent was creeping around with local law goons."

Then she picks up a thermal detonator, "And it looks like we might have our distraction right here, right? Or at least a goodbye kiss-off. If Utinni here can rig this to blow, but on some kinda delay, when it goes off, one of us snatches the credits from our man — who we know is feeling the heat — and we make a run for it."

"Once Zenna scoops us up, we live happily ever, packing heat and sticking it to the Man."

Re: Sarlacc for thought

The droid begins another series of droidspeak, this one very long.  Almost immediately, however, the translation comes through the ship's coms.
Fill the crate with spare parts, hide the guns.  Tell the contact where we hide the crate, find out where to collect the money.  We can either leave the money and go, or the Mynock and the ewok can distract the Imperials watching the money and steal it.  They can use a dud thermal detonator.  Then we hide the weapons somewhere, go back to Tatooine and sell them to those Rebels for double what Jabba asked.  Then we give him the money to pay the debt.

Re: Sarlacc for thought

“I can dig it,” Jett said. “We tell our guy to meet me and Brannexx in the woodsiest planetfall we can find, then we hand off the dummy crate while X2 is messing with clear comms. Hex riggs up either a decoy detonator to scare him, or one on delay — can you do both in time? —  for the distraction. And depending on who’s carrying the credits, either I or Jubjub — who’d be so deep in his element even we wouldn’t be able to see him — will grab the credits and we make a dash for the hoversled to the ship — which Zee will have ready to make our getaway! If all goes well, we’ll have the credits to send Jabba’s way, then we turn around and sell the weapons! Bang-bang, it’s double the take!”

Jett put her hands on her hips, and almost grinning now. “This could work.”

OOC: Seems like a good amalgam of the plans. I’m up for this, if you guys are. Also, lol “the Mynock.”
