RP Realm: Chapel Hollow - Stable
Once a place of worship, this sacred building had been humble. Only made up of a few rooms which included the vestibule for receiving its flock, the temple for holding its ceremonies and the sanctuary for quiet confession and ceremony. It was a simple building, one flexible in what faith it might represent. It's form and function were repeated across hundreds of worlds. Though some of the details varied across these many worlds, from architectural quirks to the deities themselves that were worshipped, it was essentially a single building echoed countless times. Perhaps that's why when the End came all these echoes had come crashing together.

The many iterations of this chapel had folded upon one another, they'd crashed together in places, melded in others. What was left in the end was something far greater than any of the individual places. Cavernous where once it was humble, sprawling where once it was quaint. The vestibule was now a long series of doors each of different styles and levels of care. The temple beyond that was now a grand theater of pews which encircled an altar at its center where carven angels still overlooked. All the walls of the temple were made up of stained glass in dozens of different style and motif. Behind the temple the sanctuary was transformed into a rats nest of crisscrossing hallways and small chambers all connected by slanting stairs and narrow halls in which one could easily lose themselves.

Painted across the stained glass of one wall was bold black graffiti. "No gods here"

Realm Characteristics
Stable - The Chapel Hollow will remain whole barring outside influence
Balanced - Both magic and science function with equal potency here.
Hidden Corners - The realm is deceptively complex for navigating (Specifically the sanctuary)

Entrances
The Main Gate - Sealed with a glowing rune and divine lock. This is the only way in and out.
Keyholders: Abethur, Neru, Nox
The Oak Archway - A A sprawl of roots and branches now clung to one wall of the temple and formed an archway, within its boughs that arch rippled like water. (Leads to the Reforged Realm)

Inhabitants of the Realm
Uninhabited

Features
Vestibule - Dozens of reception halls meshed together, now a great chamber of doorways
Temple - The central chamber, its filled with pews, the walls are lined with stained glass and an altar sits at the center
The Altar - The Altar of the Chapel Hollow is a Place of Power. The Altar seems to be particularly stable, it will allow up to 2 Inspirations to be conducted before it's depleted.
Sanctuary - A series of corridors and rooms at the back of and below the Chapel.

The silence of the Chapel is broken as someone pushed open one of the doors of a confessional booth and stepped through. A pale man with black hair that had a soft sparkle to it, his face was striking. There was another noise as well, a small bod with a baseball cap, a torn shirt and dirty face crawled out from under one of the pews. Then another sound, a door banged open at the vestibule at the front of the chapel and someone staggered through, an almost naked man save for a white cloth wrapped around him, he was limping, one arm was bleeding and the other dangled limply at his side.

Then the silence returned as the three strangers regarded one another and their expected locale.

The darkly beautiful man with the sparkling dark hair stepped into the chapel proper from the booth. He looked around - his deep, dark, piercing eyes taking in every detail.

"Hmmmm…well I'll be." he said, his voice echoing faintly from the acoustics of the place. He was surprised for a moment - the place was unnatural. A weird combination of different versions of the same idea of a chapel. And the acoustics were more dramatic as a result it seemed. Truly a chapel at its core.

He adjusted his voice a bit, so that it was more appropriate for in-doors. His voice was dark wine colored velvet and evening mist. He regarded the other emerging gods with mild interest and mild disdain. He didn't react at all to Abethur's injuries - they neither pleased him nor upset him. He was utterly neutral about the whole thing.

"Hmmmm...a lost child, a man without any fashion sense, and well...me. What's left of me anyway. How intriguing. No..." he said as he stared piercingly at both the child and the near-naked and bleeding man.

"Oh no...you're no child or fashionless mortal, are you? No...no you're not. Interesting. So others had survived after all. Well I suppose you two are a better sight for sore eyes than a giant black snake with no social skills and a 1-dimensional personality." he said, followed by a short chuckle.

"So what ARE you two doing in a place like this, if I may be so bold ask to ask?"

Neru briefly dusted himself off, taking a look around the place. For an average child, the place would seem rather dull at first glance, but to an expert like Neru there was a lot of potential for a game of hide and seek within the long complex architecture of the Chapel.

He had taken not two steps into the place where he was adressed by a gloomy adult man.

"6 times. You have said the word 'no' six times, and not once said 'yes'. Typical adult, always so negative"

As he casually started picking his nose, trying to fish for a stubborn booger that was annoying him, Neru answered Nox.

"I also was chased by a black snake. And I think you are overestimating it if you think it had any personality at all. Unless we are talking about a different snake. Did yours have big yellow eyes and could not speak with their own words?"

Abethur came through the door, his limp arm hanging uselessly beside him as blood collected in the ragged cloth that he treated as clothing. He was injured and badly so but he was alive and that was enough. At least for now.

Still it appeared that he had no emerged in a deserted place but in the presence of other beings, mortals by their appearance but divine within his deeper senses. He had never encountered other gods before so it took him a moment to gather that he was being spoken to, or at least about.

"I am not a mortal. I am Abethur." he said with a flat tone and neutral expression.

"And yes I too encountered this being. A massive yellow-eyed serpent with a domed head and simple, repetitive speech."

He gestured to his damaged arm with his remaining good one.

"I escaped mostly intact."

Nox rolled his eyes at Neru, although it was obviously he was being less dismissive than he was amused. His eyes sparked in the light of the chapel now and then, just like his hair.

"Actually young man, I said it seven times and not six. And also, I have full right to be negative at times - when I'm not being positive that is - given all I've seen and done. And I'm not an adult. I predate such things." Nox replied with a smirk.

"And you both also saw the black snakes then? And yes...mine also had yellow eyes, and it only responded to things I said first. Mostly either repeating them or regurgitating them to be very close to what I had said first. And mine literally tried to eat me - like it had its tooth-laden maw open just a few feet in front of me. But naturally, I am no snake's dinner so removed myself from such an uncouth serpent's presence and left it by itself to contemplate its aloneness."

He considered.

"This is most strange. For we all seem to have emerged into the chapel at close to the same time - you all arrived only moments after me. Which means that we each encountered these black snakes at roughly the same time. Are they part of one entity, or three separate creatures? And why are they trying to eat fallen gods like you, and well...beings like me? Divinities shall we say. Why?"

Neru crossed his arms, and without any doubt replied hastily. ”You had totally said it 6 times, you big nobhead"
He then uncrossed his arms, waving then dismissively at Nox. "Anyway, you should stay positive. Heroes always save the world with a smile on their face, even when they are scared."

"Mine also tried to eat me, I think. But I didn't stay long enough for it yo try. Which is probably why I am the only one here that isn't bleeding. Abethur looks the worst. Did you fight yours? Maybe these realms work like stories. The wolf can wait for Little Red Riding Hood disguised as granny, eat the little shephard and his sheep and blow the three piglets homes away all at the same time."

The initial impression of the place and his current occupants settled, Neru attempted to peer into the hearts of his two companions.

Abethur shrugged with one shoulder to Nox.

"I do not know. Both options are equally likely given what I know. Besides we cannot know that time is synchronous in other planes. In my experience time is mutable, perhaps more so now."

He didn't mention the Cataclysm. He didn't feel as though it was necessary. They were all here, in mortal form, not out of love or adventure but necessity.

"As for why it would wish to eat us I imagine it wants whatever we possess, if it could obtain such things."

He then turned his attention to Neru.

"I did not fight. I only ran. The area was treacherous and I am unused to a physical body. It is...fragile. As for your story I am unfamiliar with it."

He played with the imagery in his mind. He has seen mortals wear the skin of wolves to become wolves so perhaps a wolf might wear the skin of a mortal to become a mortal. If so then pigs may do the same so that they could build houses. Had they fallen into a territorial dispute between wolf and pig shapeshifters? Perhaps this Red Hood was a sage-hero of the pig-shifters.

"Hmmm...it seems even a god-like child is still similar to a child in many ways. Including needing more math homework. Kids these days are too coddled in their schooling. But I blame weak parenting, not the children themselves." he mused aloud.

Nox shrugged.

"Anyway, the serpent did not touch me. Although I supposed I did stand on top of its coils for a bit while escaping. But no it didn't hurt me. I tumbled through the void of nothingness for a bit before arriving where I met the snake, hence why I have a few bruises but they will heal in time I'm sure. It certainly did try to eat me though." he replied.

"I am concerned about them though. Is this all a strange coincidence, or is there a third party arrayed against us? And do they have anything to do with whatever disaster has eroded reality."

Neru hissed and cringed at the mention of homework. He then repeated Nox's previous words, in a mockering tone.

"I'm NoT aN aDuLt. You certainly act like one. I am not 'similar' to a child, I am one. Perhaps I'm much older than most children, but that's because I'm the coolest kid around, so I can stay young no matter how many experience I gather, or how many eons I live through. Stupid mortals think that losing your childhood is something inevitable, so they don't fight it and grow up, like doofus...es."

Abethur considered Nox's question briefly but found no satisfactory response.

"Coincidence is unlikely but that does not mean external interference. Still we know too little to speculate. It would be better to seek more pertinent answers such as how do we regain our powers in full and what has happened to our worlds."

He didn't give much energy to Neru and Nox's mocking of each other. Perhaps this was how gods interacted. He didn't know and he wasn't inclined on learning unless he had to.

Nox chucked suddenly at Neru.

"I am to adults what an adult is to a child. You obviously have much more learning to do, young man, before you'll ever be qualified to pass judgement on me." he said, although in a more kind and tolerant voice than anything.

"Mortals live, and grow, and age, and then die in a cycle. A cycle I've witnessed for a long time now. Don't begrudge those poor mortals for living true to their very natures. Childhood is a natural phase in their lives, but in order for them to grow, evolve, learn, and reproduce they must all eventually leave childhood for adulthood, and from there leave adulthood for old age. Instead, you should treasure the fleeting childhood that they do have, for such a thing is an important part of their development. Spiritually as well as physically. It's like the waxing and waning of light and dark, really. A cycle." he continued.

He then looked at Abethur.

"Well it seems we're all at a loss here then. I agree that we must seek more answers. Obviously, the end came to us and we survived, but I doubt much help will come to us at this point. We have to strive for our survival ourselves. And I think that may start with having a look around this place. This uber-chapel." he said.

"By the way you two...I am Nox. I am not a god, but a Primordial. But in this situation, it seems we've been similarly enervated by the end so we're basically in the same boat."

Abethur's overall interest in Nox piqued when he mentioned evolution. It was true that evolution often demanded the transition of a nascent state to a more mature state but there was also a degree of power in nascence. A raw potential that is lost, consumed, to become the later self. It was why his people were morphic rather than static, moving across form and time to achieve higher and higher states of evolution.

Still he said nothing to the topic since it was unimportant.

"Greetings Nox."

He looked to Neru, waiting to see if he would introduce himself as well. If so he greeted him in kind, otherwise he simply nodded to the young god.

"I was known as the god of evolution and am still possessed of some of that power. I cannot alter divinities but should be find primitive instruments, weapons, or tools I can augment their function."

He considered using Evolve on his ragged cloth but decided against it. The simple thought of more clothing burned at him.

Neru rolled his eyes. "You don't get it. That is all kinds of wrong. But it's ok, adults never do. They forget what it was to be a child, and they lose themselves in their grown up minds." There was a hint of genuine sadness in the boy's tone.

Neru listened quietly to Nox's take on their current situation, and his introduction. He perked up when he was done, and returned to the smug attitude he had taken a few moments ago. "You two should be more careful when giving out your names. If I was a fae in disguise, you two would be in big troubles... I'm Neru. I guess I was a God, but I never liked the title"

In the silence of the Chapel Hollow a rather tense first meeting unfolded. In a meeting of superior beings it seemed at times hard to determine who was most superior. If there was nothing else to distract them the rest of the meeting might have gone quite poorly indeed. But at the time being there was a wealth of mysteries that needed investigating.

Decision

The Vestibule: At the front of the Chapel there was still the matter of the vestibule and its dozens of doors. Abethur had come through one, no doubt the others led... somewhere?

The Temple: Then there was the matter of the greater temple chamber, the altar with its carven angels was an intriguing relic that had yet to be investigated.

The Sanctuary: Lastly, there was the Sanctuary at the back of the Chapel. With its weaving and interlocking halls and chambers who knew what it might have housed after so many Chapels were folded together. Perhaps it was best not to get too comfortable in this place before they knew what might be lurking at their backs.

Nox nodded.

"Well it's good that you're putting so much thought into this. Most children take far too much for granted, and are lazy with their thinking. And don't worry...I'd know if you were in disguise. Fae or otherwise." he said, as his eyes twinkled in the light mischievously.

"Well you gentlemen, I need to go take a look around and get a feel for my surroundings. It was a pleasure 'young' Neru. Mister Abethur. Ta ta. Stay safe you two until we meet again." he said as he gave a sort of curtsy bow and then began to walk off towards the Temple area proper. He figured it would be good to start exploring the center and then work his way out.

Nox heads off to explore the Temple area.

While Abethur and Neru got their bearings Nox had struck off towards the center of the temple. His steps echoed inordinately loud in the silent place of worship and there was a natural inclination to speak in hushed tones in this folded and refolded house of worship. Approaching the altar itself, Nox found it in tact and surprisingly clear of revisions or defects.

The altar was a huge slab of what looked like granite. A neatly pressed red linen was laid across it and draped over the edges atop which sat several implements of faith. A basin of water, incense and several unburned candles. Marble statues of grand angels flanked either side of the simple altar, they brandished long staves and each looked down with cocked heads, as though curious about the rituals unfolding beneath their unblinking gaze.

Now, all of this may have been simple detail, but to a god there was more than just the trappings of faith. Nox felt power still clinging to this altar and descending down into the reality below like a grounding rod for lightning. This place was a focal point, a place where the cosmos paid attention, where important acts could be done and the universe would take heed as it would not in other regions.

Feature added to Realm: The Altar

The Altar - The Altar of the Chapel Hollow is a Place of Power. These centers of power allow a cohesion or possibility that is impossible elsewhere. As such, they are highly coveted, their locations are often dear secrets or carefully guarded by trap or champions. Places of Power are a finite resource, once they have been utilized to their full extent they become inert and a new precious node must be found. The Altar seems to be a particularly stable Place of Power, it will allow up to 5 Inspirations to be conducted before its depleted.

As Nox went for the temple, Neru started walking on a straight line to the Vestibule, arms extended to his sides and keeping balance as he put one feet in front of the other, making sure to step on a single line of tiles. At some point, he would stop walking, looks to his left, and take a peak through the first door he saw.

At the center of the temple Nox continued to poke and prod at the trappings of the altar. Investigating under the cloth, scrutinizing corners and examining the angels amongst the other trappings. It would turn out to be wholly innocuous besides the power focused on the location.

Meanwhile at the front of the Chapel Neru has gone to the vestibule and was examining the multitude of doors lining the wall. They came in all shape and style, there were double paneled glass doors, unadorned metal, large ornate oak, humble single door frames and large double sets large enough a carriage could be driven through. A whole wealth of boxes waiting to be opened for a child eager to explore and explore Neru did! The first opened up to... nothing. Literally a lack of light or dark or sound of substance. As did the second. Then the third. The excitement was rapidly fading as it seemed these very many doors were all for simple show. Then Neru threw open a door and was already moving onto the next when he noticed that the previous gateway actually held something within its frame!

Through this door there was a swirling and shifting pathway of brick that hung over a similar void of nothingness. At the far end this rattling collection of brick bridged a gap and connected somewhere else. But even as Neru watched bricks were coming loose at the edges of the path, they were toppling down into that same void and the path was shrinking. It seemed that in a short time the pathway would crumble away entirely leaving this as another dead gateway. There was no time to waste!

Making sure that he had enough time to at least take a look around the dissapearing realm, Neru stepped forward, venturing into the door and through the brick path. Abethur nodded in understanding of Neru's warning.

"I will remember to be more cautious about fae and giving my name."

Abethur was not sure what fae were but if Neru could be one then perhaps they appeared as children or were more of these shapeshifters he spoke of. It seemed that the other planes had their morphic beings as well. Still he was not nearly as adventurous as his companions and contented himself with examining the doors that surrounded him.

He was perhaps too engrossed in the doors since when he finished his examination he found that he was alone, a lone door still half open from where the others had departed into. He approached it cautiously at first but ultimately crossed the threshold to join them.

A glowing white glyph had appeared on the gateway, the Divine had crystal shards attuned to this divine lock which would ensure they were not impeded coming and going from the Chapel. More importantly, the corridor was now a solid tunnel of stone, it held none of its former fleeting nature, and that corridor led somewhere.

Following it to its far end the Divine found themselves looking out onto an alien landscape. It was a world of scattered fragments, like a hurricane had come through and torn everything down. The ground out there was a solid black sheet, smooth and flawless, and the detritus laid atop this solid sheet of Nothing. Out there some of the chunks of wreckage were larger than others. To the north the ground dropped away leaving a chasm atop which were floating islands that dared travelers to find a way to them. To the east was a white picket fence surrounding what appeared to be chrome RV that had been converted into a diner, the words 'Frank's Diner' still managed to glow. To the south the wastes were glowing a dull orange from a sea of flames, trees were jutting up from the rolling flames, it was a perpetually burning forest. A wall of steam rose up where that sea of fire met waters to the east. Those waters seemed to be a river delta that were still somewhere running and created a barrier of running water.

It was an inhospitable wasteland that looked like it had few options for easy travel, but it looked there was no shortage of nooks and crannies to explore.

Abethur gazed out at the nigh-endless expanse and the strange edifices and objects that littered it. He felt a kinship with the strange place, his mind going back to the detritus and debris that was his old plane. The Cosmic Wastes resembled it in many ways and in many ways it did not.

"It seems that this new reality has many secrets. We would be wise to uncover them cautiously."

He turned away from the place, for the moment, and faced Nox and Neru.

"That would be the sensible thing to do. If you are a weirdo that doesn't love waffles."

With little more to add to that statement, Neru jumped forward, skipping his way through the nothingness of the Cosmic Wastes to reach Frank's Diner, in the hopes of getting breakfast. There was something inviting about his enthusiasm, and Neru's appearance normally made it so others wanted to protect him, but it was difficult to say if Nox or Abethur shared that basic instinct with mortals.

He would have to explore more of it later, but for now he was as curious about the cosmic wastes as Neru was and - incidentally had his eyes set on the café/diner in the distance as well. Abby was right - they needed a place to sit down and relax a bit while they recovered from the bloodletting.

"I think we need a place to sit down and catch our breath. Certainly not the lake of fire in the other direction." he said as he walked back through the path and stepped carefully out onto the dark floor of the wastes. Assuming nothing harmful happened, he headed toward Frank's Diner as well.

The gloom of the chapel was dispelled as a beam of golden light emanated down from the ceiling to bathe the altar in its radiance. Then it faded and in its wake something new was left. Someone new. Seris lay sprawled across the altar newly embodied after her brief visit to the afterlife. Despite being momentarily dead, she felt good, better then she had since her world crashed around her.

Regaining her bearings, Seris found herself in a temple surrounded by row after row of empty pews. This place had a disjointed feel, like a dozen different buildings were mashed together to create this gestalt. It also appeared she was alone. Aside from the temple itself, there was a vestibule that seemed to serve as the entrance at the far side and at the other a door that seemed to lead into the deeper sanctuary of this quiet temple.

Taking a deep breath as Seris awoke. She regained her barring and took in her surroundings. Speaking softly, "Now a temple?" Would she ever find a consist place or plane. It seemed everything was in fragments.

Getting up from the alter. Seris tightened her fists and released them. Stretching lightly, Seris felt like a million bucks. At least compared to earlier. She wasn't near her peak as a divine. Yet she was ready for the coming trials now. She'd face them with tooth and claw.

Seris moved around the temple as her tail wagged behind her. It's tip gracing the floor. Deciding to go ahead deeper into the temple, she went for it's inner sanctuary.

Seris was getting her bearings and had decided to delve deeper into the Temple -plus there seemed to be some sort of lock at the main gate which posed a problem- but before Seris had the chance to depart that same door opened and three strangers walked in. A straight backed man with striking black hair, a child in a t-shirt and shorts and another man also in similar attire whose features looked almost... unfinished. The four of them stopped short and regarded one another.

Before they had the chance to speak though, the air started to swim. It was as though having all of them together had sparked off some reaction. Their residual divinity clinging to them like a haze had coalesced, it was gaining momentum as those divine energies swirled and materialized. Around them they could feel the raw material of creation, it was all potential that had never been realized before the End and which had started to cling to them like motes of dust, now it had reached critical mass.

Something major had been set in motion. An entire Realm was taking shape before their eyes. It was going to come into being whether they liked it or not, but with them at its swirling core, they had the ability to influence its birth.

Nox stepped through a twisted oak archway in another world and found himself back in the quiet temple of Chapel Hollow. It seemed the burst of creation he and the other gods had spontaneously undertook had not destroyed this place of worship. It had changed it however. A sprawl of roots and branches now clung to one wall of the temple and formed an archway, within its boughs that arch rippled like water. It was a beautiful gateway, fresh and new just like its realm.

New Entrance added to Chapel Hollow

A moment later the feral half beast woman followed through the gate and emerged into the temple. The small child god almost bumped into the back of her legs as he came out through the gateway as well.

"Huh. Interesting feeling, being in two places at a time. I assume you are used to it, Nox. Being the night or whatever"

Neru gave himself a quick tour for what he had seen of the Chapel already, and after confirming the new realm was the only thing different, came back to Nox and Seris.

"So are we going somewhere?"

As Seris came to the realm, she felt the fumble that was Neru walking into her from the portal. Stepping to the side she then watched the kid walk about the room.

She was only first here a few moments ago. Seemed he was more familiar here than her. "An angler to hunt, is mine plan. Thou may come along, however mineself doubts how much help thou is. Especially in current state, maybe a distraction, yes? The void I must find again however."

Nox shook his head.

"While as you say I'm no stranger to the concept of omnipresence, this is a bit different. It's as much a trait of us being gods as it is that of the realm itself. We still, ultimately, are singular and static now. The split-self is only an exception. Perhaps there are other realms and places that will allow the splitting of my selves but the Forest is the first one I've encountered since the Cataclysm." he replied.

"And yes my good Neru...I was thinking of doing a survey of the new realm we made and our peoples, but not right away. Let them get their bearing a bit before gods come rushing into the picture. If my people cannot even figure out how to at least take their first steps without me, then they were simply too weak and pathetic to be worth my time in the first place. I have no time to coddle them." he said, all with his usual friendly tone of voice and smile.

"With that said...this chapel seems like it has become out headquarters basically. We can use it to access the wastes, and thus other dimensions, and now our own new Forest Realm. And it's stable and angler-snake free...always a bonus. So I want to survey it. And we've explored the main section we're in but the sanctuary in back and below the chapel has been unexplored yet. I intend to change that. We need to ensure this place is truly safe for us." he said.

"So will you come with me Neru and see what the sanctuary holds? Perhaps our new partner in crime Seris would like to join us as well?"

With that, Nox begins walking toward the back of the Chapel.

Nox heads to the sanctuary.

Seris shrugged, "I do not mind. I know I am familiar to multiples of mine self. I shall come with for now. Mine goal remains the same though; find the void and hunt the black angler-snake." Maybe there were more than one? Or one across the instances, time and relativity were weird now.

Passing by Neru as she went to follow Nox, Seris roughed his hair up with a hand. Maybe to do so out of annoyance for being called granny. Or just to do it. "That one is quite wordy, yes? The primordial.." There was nothing wrong with that, despite her saying something.

As she followed through to the sanctuary Seris did a clawed wave as if beckoning Neru to follow, "Come along child, before the snake free temple decides to eat thee."

Nox looked at Seris with amusement.

"So you also met those dastardly snakes. Be careful, kitten...they will whisper sweet mothings to you. Try to bounce your own voice back to you. Lure you in with anything interesting they can think of. But they only have one goal...to EAT YOU. Nasty snakes they are. Perhaps I may come help you on a snake hunt sometime. I'm no fan of theirs." he replied.

"And don't worry about calling me a primordial, kitten. Or should I say lioness...you seem heartier than us for some reason. I wonder what you had to lose to regain so much power?" he said, playfully.

"Well no matter. A woman needs her secrets. I should know. You can call me Nox. You may also know me as Nyx, my female aspect, but I haven't been able to be anything but male since falling to the Cataclysm. So Nox will do. And don't mind Neru - he's basically a millenias old child who's never grown up. But he has his own sort of astute wisdom - don't dismiss him is all I'm saying."

Neru whispered to Seris, but intentinally loud enough for Nox to hear.

"He thinks he is amazing, but he is not that big of a deal."

He then continues, loud as usual. "He is right on who I am though. I don't care for ruling over all or anything like that. I want to have fun for all eternity, and help children do so aswell, since I like them. Not as a meal, like you do, but more as a concept. Very few adults have the ability to enjoy life"

Seris tapped her chin with her claw. It seemed she had a failed understanding. "A moment before I come with." trotting back to the Glade portal, Seris touched it and walked through. Re-creating two instances of her self.

Neru was right in some manor though, the kid was insightful if nothing else. "I enjoy life to it's fullest. At least the way I live it. It has many pleasures to offer, just depends if one wants to ride them or try and take control of them." Waving her hand slightly, she continued "Though, for me, the funnest things are the most dangerous, and the most tasty." she licked her lips lightly.

"I've never heard nor known of Nox, or Nyx. If thou were a primordial, it was not from where I existed or resided. The universe is a big or well was a big place, yes? However your energy is comforting, similar to what I was tied to in my previous existence. Maybe thou are not far off from what I do know."

The three assembled gods briefly exchanged greetings and words in the hush of the temple. They were of one mind that the sanctuary was worth exploring. Leaving the oak portal and the hush of the temple behind the trio descended into the sanctuary.

If the gods weren't aware of the End, the narrow halls and featureless doors of the sanctuary would be seem entirely mundane. These halls had painted drywall, bland paintings of landscapes hanging from the walls and plastic plants interspersed. What made this place more than just claustrophobic complex of halls though was the way in which those halls interlocked and separated before folding back in on one another. The many halls were all at a slightly wrong angle, the way they connected was not how a sane builder would lay them out. In some places the way reality had folded together formed double doors or left a window in the ceiling or floor. These oddities were just frequent enough to remind travelers that they were indeed somewhere new.

Opening doors and finding more identical hallways behind them, there was a distinct possibility of getting lost in that florescent labyrinth, but its sprawling nature also sparked imagination.

Decision

Lose Oneself: Press on heedless of consequences into the labyrinth! (This option will start a new adventure and it will keep players away from the Chapel for a minimum of a week.)

Explore the Immediate Halls: This would be a less adventurous approach and a more methodical one which involved combing all the nearest corridors and dead ends to ensure that there were no surprises lingering on the surface of this labyrinth. (Won't initiate an adventure but it makes for a shorter time commitment!)

Neru, impulsive as always, made his decision without consulting the others.

"It's time to prove your words, Seris. If you really like danger, you better keep up!"

Neru rushes through one of the doors, and then makes a turn, and heads through another corridor, and then through a window on the floor, and then through another corridor. Being weakened from the cataclysm, Seris (and possibly Nox) would likely have little trouble keeping up with the child, but following him would mean losing themselves in the labyrinth aswell.

Nox rolled his eyes at Neru.

"Kids will be kids. Even silly divine ones." he mused aloud in response to him trying to troll him a bit. It was a more amused tone than anything.

"And I was around before, trust me. Even if you didn't see me or sense me. I wasn't one to focus on advertisement or posturing. I didn't need to." he said with a wink. "Although now, I question my own importance given all that's happened. But who knows...I am certain we only know the tip of the iceberg about the cataclysm. Perhaps we're more important than we know?"

"Seris you should leave your people be for a bit and let them get their bearings and come with us. We could use the company of a hell-cat like you in a labyrinth like this. But if you leave the glade now you'll vanish here." he said as he turned and went through the doors after Neru.

Seris's tail waved lightly, "I intend to now, I was lacking in understanding the depth of the instances, but it is no issue now. Learn from experience, yes?"

Perhaps they were more important now. Though Seris never felt she was that important to begin with. She was an apex predator among the realms. Yet her prey always came to her aboad where she'd then hunt them. She rarely had reason to leave and converse.

"Danger is not what one must test their mettle or bravery against, Neru. It is against idiocy and lack of wisdom. Without caution or forethought to what dangers there may be, it will lead to one being ate. Thou may trust my wisdom on this lesson as a testament to it."

From Labyrinth  ->

"Oh thank goodness we're back from the maze of doom. Or more like the maze of hunger. I am so done with moss and psychedelic mushrooms and cooked almond tasting slime." he said with a sigh.

"Oh sweet sweet chapel how I've missed you."

But he had work to do, and while he was recuperating he had time to do it.

He flitted from shadow to shadow before finally appearing from the shadow of the altar in the center area of the chapel. He had, over time, acquired some built up bits of divine spark power - inspiration if you will - and was inspired by his adventures on how to utilize it with the chapel's altar. and he had the orb too. All three of them settled for "feeding" it to the reforged realm, and Nox intended to honorably see it be done.

But first, he placed his hands onto the altar and closed his eyes, concentrating. He began to hum with energy as he opened his eyes, the black orbs now glowing golden for a moment...

Nox is initiating an Inspiration project! With this week's gain he now has over 100% and I want to use an inspiration project to upgrade his Summon Ghostly Servitor power into something truly potent and fearsome. He'll use the "10% toward a magical project" inspiration as well as 90% of his normal inspiration to do this, leaving him with 35% left for later. Here's what I'm thinking.

Beckon Darkwraith Vassals - This power is an upgraded version of Summon Ghostly Servitors. Unlike the old power, the ghostly servants called forth are imbued by Nox's darkly divine power. They can very much affect the physical world if they like although can be immaterial like a ghost too, and they have an enervating magical touch attack if not wielding weapons. Nox can call forth one Darkwraith per point of Arcanus he has rather than just 1 at a time. Naturally, as his Arcanus grows so do the potency of his Darkwraiths. They shift appearance and normally look like LOTR ringwraiths and are just as terrifying if Nox doesn't explicitly command them to cloak their Wraithly natures, at which point they can appear as sinister or edgy ghosts.

OOC: That'll work for the most part! Your Arcanus score will be tied to your Summon Ghostly Servants ability so the ghost summoned will be stronger based upon Nox's strength. Right now the ability will use all of Nox's Arcanus so other magical abilities won't be possible while a Wraith is summoned (Again, it's possible to augment that) and only one Wraith can be summoned at a time (The cap can be raised to 3 with another Project) So slightly less grand than envisioned, but still a very powerful upgrade.

Visiting the altar at the center of the chapel Nox laid his hands on its surface. Power surged through him. It did not burn or freeze. It felt good. Very good. Senses that had been closed opened again and Nox's ties to the spirits he'd claimed strengthened. Their spectral existence became tied to his own strength. As his magical might grew so did their ability to impact the world.

The ghosts could now become solid entities to strike at foes. When they did become embodied they were briefly vulnerable, but if they were destroyed they would reform within three days. Thankfully Nox also had three of the spirits in reserve and only be able to summon one at a time meant it was unlikely he would run out of them in a fight.

On the far side of the altar his specter appeared, now shrouded in dark robes that were more befitting Nox's tastes, a glint of baleful eyes could be seen within the confines of that cloak.

Meanwhile, ever so delicate cracks ran through the altar. (4 more Inspirations Projects can be conducted on the altar.)

Seris tilted her head as she watched Nox. It was interesting. Especially considering that he used the altar.

Turning her head Seris decided it best to return home to their realm and await healing as well as to explore the ruins from the land in the orb. It would be interesting to say the least.

Nox sighed from the effort, but even though things didn't go quite the way he envisioned it was still a definite upgrade to his power. If he had access to something like this they would have had a lot easier of a time in the maze against the folded man. But the lesson of the day ever since they became fallen gods was baby steps.

Nox then took out the golden orb from whatever metaphysical crevice he had hidden it in, and he placed it on the altar. he placed his hands on the altar once again and he willed that the orb somehow be merged with or its power added to that of their reforged realm.

Ooc: Ok since all three of us decided to use the orb to add on to our realm that's what nox is going to do. If not has any influence over where these ruins will show up in the realm he will try to make them appear somewhere closer to the noctem homeland as I believe the others agreed they would be one of the best of the races to help us explore it. But he's not intentionally making it like exclusive to anyone race or anything.

Bringing out the treasure they had salvaged from the depths of Chapel Hollow, Nox set it upon the altar in response the oak archway nearby lit up and a delicate glowing filigree ran down the roots growing up the wall. Unlike Nox's previous work, the god could feel that this endeavor didn't require the Place of Power, it seemed that anything related to the Reforged Realm could be done independent of the altar, the Realm itself acting as that Place of Power.

OOC: Essentially any Project that primarily relates to the Reforged Realm won't consume your Place of Power charges. (I don't want to disincentive folks from working on adapting the realm after all!)

A second image swam across Nox's eyes as the orb sat there. He could feel the rough edges of the Reforged Realm, places that these grassy plains could adjoin it. The three of most interest to Nox were as follows (There were some on the far side of the Realm, but they would not be accessible to the Noctem so I assumed Nox had no interest in those)

Location One: One place would connect it directly to the Hidarugami hunting grounds, they would have the only contiguous land path to reach these new grass lands. Their lands being the largest, it was the only connection that would benefit a single race.

Location Two: This option would set the land boundary so that it could be reached by both the Noctem and Hidarugami.

Location Three: The last spot available to connect the land would make it most accessible to both the Noctem and Imps.

Any which way it was placed it could only benefit two peoples. Other inhabitants of the Reforged Realm would have difficulty reaching these new plains.

OOC: Thanks we appreciate that!

Nox had a choice to make as he narrowed down to three spots that would be good places to expand the realm.

Honestly, he couldn't care less about the Hidarugami right now. Lately they've been getting away with a whole lot of bullcrap and they didn't need to be cut more of a break. He was glad they didn't conflict with the Noctem right now, because he'd let them thin their numbers if it came down to it. Their appetites needed to be reigned in.

No...he wanted a location where not only some races could access it, but races who specifically could actually help the gods themselves investigate and control the new land and the ruins. And the mischievous but lazy nature of the imps would help ensure they initially snooped around and checked things out but couldn't commit enough to actually interfere int he grand scheme of things with the gods' and the Noctem's efforts at true exploration and taming of the area. He would have ideally liked to get the patchwork people to help instead, and maybe they could in segregated instances, but if the Noctem could contain their anger they could use and manipulate the imps enough to still make a positive impact on the gods' plans. He also didn't want the Hidarugami anywhere near the ruins as they would probably try to ruin and spoil the land.

They already were ruining and spoiling their own forests and they had the largest swath of forest controlled currently. And so far the gods were tolerating it. No...Nox knew they had enough. He would share the spoils of the ruins with Seris but would not let her people spoil this new addition to the realm.

Location Three selected - Noctem and Imps

After having utilized the orb and expanded the reforged Realm, Nox sent his full presence into the Reforged Realm. While initially not that interesting, the new Realm was turning out gradually become more and more interesting to him over time. Especially after he added the orb's expansion to it as well.

He decided it was time for him to scope out this new addition, and if he couldn't immediately determine why it was resisting his divine earth shaping power he may still learn something new and interesting about the place.

Abethur moved across the Wastes and returned to the Chapel. He stopped at the entrance and marveled at their structure. Such a humble place but one bound up in the insanity that was their new reality. Pushing past his awe he entered the chapel and made his way directly to the Altar. He wasn't sure what it was that compelled him to approach the altar but he new on an instinctive level that he needed its power to change the world, to change himself.

Placing his hands on the stone he concentrated and tried to bring about the enactment of his desires.

Returning from his lonely jaunt through the Wastes, Abethur found the Chapel quiet. No matter. Approaching the altar at its center he placed his hands on its cool stone and felt the power inside it respond. Pouring his energy into the stone the Chapel briefly darkened and a ghostly image of debris and wreckage spread out around him, a flickering fortress of light loomed over him, then he loomed over it as the images receded as though he hung over them. Then the illusion vanished as it had come and the room returned to normal.

Deeper cracks now ran along the altar, testament to the power that had coursed through it. (Three more Inspirations can be conducted on the altar.)

Abethur arrived at the Chapel and allowed his hand to guide over the stone. It was weakening gradually, loosing its potency with each facet of reality made firm. He wondered how many such places of power there were in this new world he found himself in. Still he could not worry about such matters and instead concentrated on his own will. As he passed his power into the altar he could feel the morphic energies growing within himself, expanding and doubling. They washed out of him in a wave, ripping through the boundaries of the realms and surging through the Anaxi. They were imbued with a modicum of his power, propelled forward by the Chapel, and began to change. But he was not done. No a second wave, stronger than the first rode the first, and augmented them once more. Changing what was once influence into mastery.

Soon he would bestow upon them mastery but not today.

Approaching the altar, Abethur poured his collected power into it. This time though the altar remained whole while the glowing portal clinging to the chapel wall flared brightly with the infused power. It seemed that any power Abethur worked that was dedicated to the Reforged Realm did not require a Place of Power as the realm served that function itself. The Place of Power would only be required for unlocking Abethur's own potential or new abilities.

Beyond the gate Abethur could feel the Anaxi changed from his efforts. They still appeared outwardly the same, the changes were deeper than merely the skin they wore.
