RP Realm: The Void - Stable
Black, featureless, infinite. The Void is a place that Reality forgot when it was carving out Form and Function. Time, Light, Space, these were all concepts of the greater cosmos. Here there is only Void. But where the Void and Reality rubbed up against one another the Void was not left entirely unaffected. Holes were rubbed into its fabric and one could fall through. Those that did found themselves into a place very akin to a hell of their imagining. A being from reality is not meant for unreality. Those unlucky visitors who came either fell back out again or eventually died, either starving, dying of thirst or meeting some less pleasant demise. For visitors brought with them their own Time, it clung to them like a cloak. Only the bravest or most fool hardy have ever gone out actively seeking the Void for despite all its dangers, it's qualities of being beyond time and space have been tantalizing curiosities for scientists or mages. But few stories of these individuals remain. The Void is not a welcoming place.

And of those less pleasant demises... the Void was not entirely empty any longer. Where Reality and Void rubbed together new things had spawned. Not many, for the Void still loathed substance, but enough.

And woe unto travelers who draw the attention of such beings.

Realm Characteristics
Stable - The Void is perpetual, it is beyond Reality.
Timeless - No matter how long you spend in the Void, no time has passed when you leave.
Here Be Monsters - While nearly uninhabited, those things which do inhabit the Void are highly dangerous

Inhabitants of the Realm:
Not aware of any yet

Features of the Void:
The Void itself has no features, the closest approximation are any portals that have been located.

In the infinite expanse of the Void there was no sound, no color, no substance. To mortal eyes this was perceived as an endless expanse of black. Perhaps the lack of anything made it all the more probably that two lost souls would bump into one another. A woman who held herself like a beast, or perhaps a beast who played at being a woman, was staggering through the nothingness. Bruises were rapidly darkening along her ribs and her breathing was coming in quick rasps. The other traveler was a doll that tottered along on its own two feet, its glass eyes awake and aware inside its plastic head.

Note: Feel free to mingle along with making the following decision.

The two caught sight of one another as they were almost upon one another. There was no light in the Void, but also no Darkness, they were able to see each other plainly.

With nothing else about them, that made it all the more apparent when they say a dim glow in the distance. It was the only sign of anything in this barren place. They could also sense nearby gateways. There was little information to base a decision on, only the scantest bits of sensory input that were coming in through those portals and a smudge of light on the horizon.

Decision:

The Light - There was a light nearby, it was the only thing visible in this barren place.

Dusty Portal - One of the nearby portals wafted in the smell of dust and concrete.

Crackling Portal - In the silence of the void that pops and crackle of static came across clear and distinct. It seemed to emanant from another of the portals.

Atris ran, a tottering limp-wristed run both slower than an ordinary mortal could manage yet somehow faster than xir meager stature should support. Those elastic bands inside xir shiny synthetic shell creaked and clicked as they stretched for all their worth, catching at the extremities for their motion and producing a distinctive if quiet wooden sound with each step; donk donk donk donk donk donk! Xe didn't want to look back in case the yellow eyes were following xir, and in any event knowledge would not have helped. There was no shelter here, no circumstances to exploit, no tactics to employ. Just run!

Wait, there! A woman! She looked fierce! And wounded, eek, that's no good, but the fiercest predators were those already bloodied. Atris ran about and behind the beast-woman's leg, cowering. We are scared that it may be behind us! the creature xe did not yet know was Seris somehow simply felt and knew to be true. We are panicking! We want help!

Seris snarled slightly as she pushed through the rotting carcass still intact. Stumbling into what was simply nothing. An expanse blade, an expanse void. There was no light, no dark, no predator, and no prey. No, that was wrong, there were predators here more than likely. It was probably where the scaled beast came from. Making it's drift into the sges of the shattered reality that rubbed here.

She was confused more or less, it seemed she made it into the void, fully intact. A feat she knew very well. At least it would be a feat if done under normal conditions. But now it was as simple as taking a turn. She wondered for what may have been less than a minute before she saw a doll like being. Clacking it's way straight into Seris as if she was a safeguard.

As the doll hid behind Seris's leg and exclaimed what it did, Seris bursted into laughter. It was a deep, beastial, and maniac laugh. Her teeth showed as she did and she gripped her injured ribs in pain as she did. Wiping away a slight tear from the pain and laughter, Seris spoke. It was dark and almost regal in tone, yet her words were more in an archaic manor, "So the little one hides behind thee, yes? How bold of such a frank little doll, yes indeed. Quite brave for such a scared little doll, made of no meat, no bone. Just plastic, wood, and glass. Yet it runs behind thee in open arms as if thee a new light, new savior...new shield." Seris's words trailed off lightly as she looked down at the doll.

Seris lowered one of her hands and rubbed the dolls head, almost in reassurance. Yet it belayed a twisted feeling as the demonic eyes locked to the doll's. Almost as if in contempt for being used so quickly and decided how she would be used. It was more obvious that Seris spoke to herself or to an audience not there. It was if she was taking the importance of the doll's being from the subject and area. A fanged smile broke on Seris's face. Her hand lightly made its way from atop the head of the being. "How interesting, yes indeed. The only problem behind thy logic, is that I too was running from something. Mineself doubts that behind, infront, or under is safe. Though more interesting is thyself. Not mortal, nor beast, yes?"

It seems for a moment that then Seris went back to speaking to herself, "Maybe thyself is more tasty than thee see's, yes? Doubtful, yes."

In a similar fashion, Seris had felt no need to ask xir's name. It was almost as if she knew it to be so in being and total, Atris.

Seris smiled then spoke again in direction to Atris, "Thee will protect mineself, if mineself protects thy, yes? Mineself is injured, see." Seris showed a few of her more obvious bruises and burns from the scale, beyond her holding the injured ribs and tattered breathing. "We are in agreement, yes?"

Seris extended a clawed hand out to the little doll. Her silver glowing against the black in her eyes as they stayed locked onto the little glass ones of Atris. If Atris shook it in agreement, Seris chipped a little bit of Atris off with her claw and then ate it.

The doll's confusion was evident, loudly evident through strange empathic speech. Atris communicated much with little, but likely not everything, not to a stranger. The little figure peeked out, looking to and fro, and promptly expressed empathic relief that no yellow eyes had pursued xir. It certainly wouldn't have been difficult.

The sense of danger past, Atris stepped back and looked up at the dark creature xe had briefly exploited for shelter. An apologetic glint crossed xir glassy eyes, perhaps a mental figment coinciding with the emotion because it sure didn't come from anywhere in this abyss. Then the cat-woman began to speak; Atris kept her annoyance to herself. Organic beings spoke so much, had no appreciation for how precious words could be. The wrong word in the wrong place ended marriages, ruined projects, hurt feelings.

Then Atris got pat on the head and very nearly melted into bliss. Only nearly; xe had not forgotten entirely where they were, nor the apparent predatory nature of xir unexpected companion there. This stranger was running too? Xe was surprised that one so much bigger and fiercer could be wounded so, and made it known.

The doll took a step back at the questioning monologue about xir taste, then tripped and landed on xir butt. Donk! Tripped on what, xe had no idea. There was literally nothing to trip on! Losing xir realm really had reduced xir to the level of a small child.

Atris eyed the proffered hand, considering xir options carefully. Xe looks up, meeting the other creature's eyes. We are curious whether you are also a displaced divinity?

Seris's eyes stayed on the doll like a cat eyeing it's prey. Watching closely, the doll let on little more than nothing vocally. It seemed that what had chased the little doll may have been the same thing that chased Seris. Maybe not the exact same one, but perhaps something similar. Things that preyed on those torn asunder from their reality. Maybe it was a beast from the void. Then this place was definitely not safe.

When the doll tripped back at Seris's words, there was glinting fanged smile. Happy to have caught the doll off guard. Though it was almost comedic the way it tripped and fell. A void full of nothing, yet down it goes. If Seris wasn't composed, she might have laughed.

Looking at the doll's eyes, Seris was asked a question, "Also?" Seris smiled widely. How useful and interesting, another divine, maybe it will taste good, Seris thought for a moment. "Indeed, however weakened. Flabby and slow, woe am I. A husk, a shadow of a monument once upon the top of the pyramid. I take it thy are as well?"

Seris brought her hand back up and to her side as her other held her ribs. Nodding her head though to one of the gates, "No time here for such discussions, little doll. Not safe, yes? Aware of where we are, yes? If so, then thy should come to a decision upon mine proposition. Allies are strong if the divines' thrones and realms have been shattered. Especially if that ally is one like yourself, yes?"

The doll almost seemed to frown at that, worried what it meant that xe was not the only one. Xe needed little more time to reach a decision, taking Seris' hand and allowing herself to be tugged back to xir feet. Xe found xirself in agreement, wanting to work together at least to determine out what has happened to them.

Atris looked about at their distinct lack of surroundings, appraising the nothing that was everything. There were some things amid the no things, strange things of light and other things that promised escape. Not many things. Atris was a curious little thing and knew if the two of them did not investigate the light in the distance xe would regret later not knowing what it was, would likely not be able to find xir way back to it. It could be an answer, could be danger, could be not much of anything. Only one way to find out; xe wanted to investigate the light, despite the possible danger of this place.

Seris helped the doll up. Passing her initial thoughts to harvest a nibble of the little god.

Looking over to the portal with the light as well, despite it, to Seris it seemed the safest. Though that may just be an assumption of light in general.

Seris nudged her head in that direction in agreement with Atris. "Mineself will carry thy, it would be faster than thee's donk-donk's."

Offering her arm and a hand to pick up the doll place in her back. Seris's face seemed more neutral as she had a plan on where she was going now and wanted to get there. Less inspired to impress the little doll for now when it spoken so little. Such a strange little god.

A light in the Void. The prospect of something existing in a place where nothing should was too tantalizing. Spurning the safety that the portals back to reality might offer, Atris and Seris went to investigate.
