Adventure - Light in the Dark
Seris and Atris crossed a plain of Nothing and approached the mysterious light that should be impossible here in the Void. With the absence of light and dark anywhere else the luminance shone like a beacon. It was hard to say how long they walked, they were perpetually weary in their weakened state. Thankfully nothing accosted them when they paused to rest and eventually something appeared ahead of them.

Rising up on metal legs, the first impression was that of an oil rig. It was a structure of exposed metal and unadorned utility, there was no artistry to the design that implied the structure was meant for comfort. Bare bulbs dotted the structure and gave off an electric yellow glow high overhead. At the lowest level where the displaced gods stood the only point of entry seemed to be a lift lay collapsed on the ground at a rough angle that strongly implied it was non-operational. That posed the challenge of how one made their to those upper catwalks. If they could get there they could see several larger structures, full rooms with windows and doors and more of that comforting light.

Nearing the lift, and feeling an immense relief at the solidarity and familiarity of its steel which helped to dispel a discomfort they didn't realize they had, the two assessed their options. Metal cables were still attached to the top of the lift and could possibly be climbed. Or the struts of this raised rig offered crisscrossing metal beams. Either of the options would test their remaining strength.

Adventure - Light in the Dark
Seris trotted forward with the little doll on her back, only taking breaks to regain her energy, what little she felt she had now. This weakened state was discomforting. Is this what the weak prey she fed on felt like? She never really had a people in her realm to associate with. There were only predators and prey, those strong, those weak, and most were weaker than her in one regard or another. If they weren't she robbed that strength for herself.

It would be so nice to sink her teeth into some strong. Thinking about the rush of strength and speed made her droll, having to brush it off with some cloth under her gauntlet.

The light was close now that is all she knew. Hopefully it would lead to somewhere better than the void, she didn't imagine that was hard though.

She didn't care too much for light, it made her feel ichy as if wrong, she never understood why it was a thing that always pulled at the back of her mind like the darkness and shadows were home or her true calling. Though now, it seemed she was disconnected to that feeling. Yet it remained ingrained from the years that connection did exist.

How she was wrong with this choice, came in multiples. She didn't have the strength to muscle her way around, nor the stamina or balance to walk beams. Looking down to the doll, Seris knew her answer didn't lie in nibbling the godling. It was more than likely weaker if not as weak as her now.

All things considered the place didn't look too bad, just straineous. Sighing, Seris spoke, "I think our best bet is the beams, more purchase for our legs with more strength than our arms. Mine ribs are injured, pulling myself up a cable would be near impossible, yes. Mineself does not feel like awaiting for strength to gather; much like a worm on the ground when rained out, very appetizing to the bird, yes?"

Adventure - Light in the Dark
Atris was content to ride along on Seris, letting her be the muscle while the doll tried to focus on recovering xir mind. Although never particularly intelligent as far as divines went, there was no denying that xe was heavily inclined to the mental over the physical. Xe closed xir eyes with a small click and tried to focus all xir remaining energy inward, trying to recall anything that might help xir make sense of all this.

Hearing Seris speak brought xir back to the real world quickly. Atris looked up at the massive metal monstrosity menacing them from above and was briefly taken aback by the sheer scale of the thing. Xe looked left and right as if expecting the void to explain itself but the nothing offered up nothing, leaving xir with nothing but extreme surprise and confusion over how this thing even got here.

After a minute's reading of the situation, Atris expressed tentative agreement with Seris' assessment. Some fancy acrobatics were probably the best way for Seris to ascend. Diminished as she was the strange-speaking hungry goddess possessed feline characters and (perhaps more relevantly) long legs for better jumping leverage. She could probably do it... but not with Atris along for the ride. Xe weighed about four kilograms, not much but definitely not nothing. Given xir light weight xe might have better luck climbing a cable while Seris went her own way...

Of course, this analysis only held under the assumption that the obvious ways in were the only ways. As a goddess that could easily be mistaken for a grownup's toy, Atris was a connoisseur of the inobvious.

With an outstretched arm and faint urging Atris pointed Seris towards and dismounted near the elevator shaft, climbing awkwardly onto the askew platform. Xe glances down and strokes the inanimate object appraisingly, appealing to the life within the lifeless. Xe explained the situation as well as xe could and implored the elevator's spirit to use the last of any strength it might have to help them. It was a long shot; xe doubted a spirit of such an impersonal object would have much power or even be receptive to their plight, but it cost xir little to try.

Seris could "hear" Atris' half of the conversation, though not any replies. Seems the doll had some power left in xir after all.

Adventure - Light in the Dark
Series examined the crisscrossing metal beams of the structures legs when she felt the weight on her back slip loose and hop to the ground. Atris ambled over to the damaged lift and leaned over. There the doll was gesturing, moving her head and making those oddly expressive motions that seemed to be its way of communicating. Only... xe was communicating with a crooked lift.

And as Seris watched the lift fell down. No, not fell exactly. It straightened itself out, the floor becoming evening and faint green glow lighting up at the control panel as the once inoperable machine was roused back to working. Atris climbed aboard and Seris followed after. With a bone, or plastic tendon, rattling lurch the thing climbed upward and to the main floor of the rig.

The two arrived at the main platform. It's narrow catwalks were empty. They connected to three main structures. The closest was also the largest. Emblazoned across the main door was the word 'Observation'. It's walls were almost entirely large glass windows which were dark. Another platform led to a smaller building, this one did not have any windows at all. 'Quarters' read the title over its door. The last building was one floor higher up. It was smallest of the three, it had a single window and with a soft flickering glow. 'Command' read its insignia. Then Series and Atris saw a shadow pass before the light. Someone was up there.

It was only a matter of where they went. Perhaps there was time to visit all three rooms. Perhaps not. It was not so long ago they both fled a large and hungry creature who called the Void home. Any delay meant increasing their chances of a reunion.

Adventure - Light in the Dark
Seris inspected the little golding as it got off of her back. Maybe it had a different plan or idea? Watching tentatively how the doll communicate with the elevator shaft. Seris was almost to the point she thought the doll crazy. Even if it was a previous divine.

Then the elevator started to churn to life. It seems the little doll was useful afterall. Not what Seris had expected from it, but impressive in it's own way. Seris wondered then what else the little doll was capable of. It would be useful to keep her around, especially with their current state.

Walking onto the elevator Seris patted the doll's head lightly as she walked past it. "Good job, yes?" Seris said lightly.

When they reached the top. Seris was a bit more cautious. She had no idea how anyone would take to spotting them, nor exactly where it was they are. With her state she was as weak as a mouse. Also almost sure that the beast she tricked would uncover the truth it wasn't a filling meal.

When a figure made a shadow, Seris knew that the only one who stood out was herself. Not so much Atris, no one would suspect a doll of not being inanimate first off. Seris decided to pick the first room she could, Observation.

Adventure - Light in the Dark
The catwalk creaked under foot as Seris and Atris approached the Observation building. The door was stuck and didn't budge until Seris through her full weight behind it, then with a pop it came loose and swung open. Inside there was a dark room (Evidently the dark had come here along with substance) flicking the switch inside the door there was a mechanical buzz and the lights in the ceiling struggled to come aglow. About half succeeded.

It appeared that the Observation chamber was a laboratory. There were several telescopes set up by the windows, microscopes on counters and glass boxes likely meant for samples. A few boxy computers sat on the counters as well, two of which hummed to life along with the lights.

This had once been a place dedicated to learning and understanding. There was still an air of purpose hanging about the place, though it now felt tired and forgotten. For the two gods there was also a sense that they could gather is lingering purpose and renew it. Doing so would make it a tangible thing they could take with them. These would be Aspects dedicated to knowledge and discovery.

Manifest Aspects: The Observation room has Aspects that can be manifested, this can only be done once per an adventure as it's an exhausting process. It will allow Aspect selection to be conducted.

Seris busted the door open with some effort. Looking inside, it was a place of curiosity and study. Which was not bad. However there was an air of energy it left. One she could stir if spent forth the effort and energy to do so. While at first it seemed like a good idea to do so, Seris thought about what exhausting herself to do so could mean.

Deciding to instead ignore it's energy and possible reward. Moving through the room, Seris looked for possible exits and entryways. As well she almost thought for a moment of turning the lights off. If they were meant to be off, turning them on was an obvious sign. Though, she was unsure how well she would fair trotting through the dark injured.

Adventure - Light in the Dark
Atris crooned happily on being recipient of headpats. Simple pleasures, one supposed. Xe followed along with Seris, a bit more fatigued than before; rousing the spirits from their slumber was not overwhelmingly exhausting, but in xir current state even minor exertions were feats. Even so, xe did not fail to notice the shifting shadow in the lights of the command room. Xe did want to investigate what manner of creature was so robust as to make this place their home, perhaps offer a way out in exchanged for information, but Seris seemed to have other things on her mind and Atris didn't have the energy to object.

Entering the room of science and feeling the energy in the air, Atris became somewhat excited that power like this could prove invaluable in determining what happened to their realms. At the same time xe felt nervous about taking something without asking from the current resident(s?).

The thought that they might be on a timer didn't occur to xir. If this place had existed for so long (especially inhabited) it would surely continue to exist for a while yet. Xe was still quite unused to the concept of danger.

OOC: I'm a little bit fuzzy on what exactly the two of you wanted to do, so making some assumptions here!

Examining the room a bit longer, Seris found the only way in and out of the observatory was the door they had entered through. Looking over the left over documents the words had faded, but remained legible, discerning their meaning though would require much longer study or harvesting the Aspects that lay hidden here. Deciding to save their strength the two left again. That meant there only two more options, the Quarters and Command.

Crossing back over the creaking catwalks surrounded by the empty void it was becoming increasingly clear that this place had been built for a singular purpose. There were no extra frills here, only the barest necessities to exist in this inhospitable not-land. There were no extra buildings, no comforts, no amenities, it was like a monastery of science. And now a monument. Or a tomb.

The doors to the quarters was already ajar. Inside Series and Atris found two sets of bunks, enough to sleep four people. Closets lined the walls and footlockers sat at the ends of the bed. Of the many lockers some were marked rations, it now stood open and barren, another was 'entertainment' and a few paperbacks, magazines and electronic tablets were still inside. This place hopeful. Tired, but still imbued with the dogged determination of whatever souls would dare leave literally everything behind to try and glean a bit more understanding of the world.

Their drive had left an echo here. There were Aspects formed from the time of these mortal explorers, Aspects dedicated to determination and self-improvement and the tools they brought with them. Perhaps this was what they have saved their strength to harvest? It could still only be done once.

Seris was more set on leaving the place of research. Especially with there being no secondary exit. She didn't want to use her energy on the power that stirred there.

Waiting for Atris to be ready, Seris waited by the door of the observatory. Once the doll was, Seris took Atris with her to the next area. It was the quarters she peered into. It's door was already ajar which slightly worried her. This place was quite dead, and if there was any life when their work rooms were dead, she assumed it would rest here.

Seris spent a bit of time to inspect the room, more so, the closets and foot lockers. Maybe there was something within of use. Even a first aid would help Seris's burns still, maybe not her ribs though.

As she inspected the room, she felt that same nagging energy of the place. One of purpose, and self improvement. It was like she could feel what this place held onto from the time spent here. It was interesting to say the least. Though, determination and self-improvement were idols to Seris. They stood out and related to her the most when compared to the last room.

Deciding she would use her energy to stir these aspect and this energy. Maybe there was something of great use she could harvest here.

Finding that Seris had little opinion or care on the matter, Atris chose to make manifest a new aspect of herself out of the residual energies of the observation room before moving on.

Atris wondered what manner of creature or creatures erected and occupied this place. They clearly had little need for entertainment or culture. Either they were as empty inside as this not-land, or they transited from some other realm to work here. All work, no play. Well, some light reading, but that's all. Depressing. Atris joined in Seris' search for some medical supplies; if any place would have some high-proof alcohol it'd be the crew quarters, and if nothing else the bedding could be ripped up for bandages.

Draw to the disparate energies of the place, Atris manifested the Aspects in the Observation room while Seris attempted to manifest those in the Quarters. Spreading out their efforts worked, though it left some of the energies in both places untapped.

Aspects Available

Stalwart Spirit: There was an energy here that refused to buckle. From the humble quarters one could replenish their diminished reserves, borrowing some of that lingering vitality that the stalwart explorers left etched into their spartan chambers.
Stats: +2 to the stats of the Divine's choosing.

Knowledge Most Obscure: The secrets these valiant scientists had worked so hard to glean could be salvaged, some of that hard-earned knowledge could be repurposed and dedicated to other greater endeavors to ensure their efforts had not been in vain.
Inspiration: +30% to the Divine's Inspiration.

The Empty Thread: Then there was a thread of possibility that still lingered at this desolate science station. It was like the Void itself, an emptiness in the air rather than a tangible thread of fate. It's lack of presence should have felt like nothing, but instead there was a chill that hung about this negative thread, it only grew colder along its path.
Adventure Hook: The thread leads deeper into the Void rather than out. The adventure guarantees that one of the rewards will be the Droplet of the Void - A medallion artifact that allows the wearer to augment supernatural abilities they use with Void traits (The specifics will vary based upon the power used.)

As they stirred up energies and aspects, it was fewer than what one could get from either, but it was a wide option.

Seris was close to gathering that which was before her. A return to her former glory in strength and spirit. Yet, something else laid close, one she couldn't pass up. A thread that beckoned to the void. Yet instead of having an air of nothing around it, it gave chills almost as if calling to her, Seris felt.

Passing up the other options and energies, Seris grasped The Empty Thread

OOC: We'll let Atris continue to ponder on xer Aspect selection!

The atmosphere around the desolate research station changed as the gods awoke the lingering power there. For a brief moment the place felt alive again. Others seemed to feel it too for the door at the top of the station slammed open with a bang and someone shot out. They hit the railing and bent in half to stare down. Through a tangle of wild hair a woman with crazed eyes peered down at them. "No! No! You can't take the bait, it's an angler fish, don't be drawn-" then with a gasp she was wrenched backwards and off her feet like a doll on a string, she flew back into the command center and the door slammed after her. Behind the station a familiar shape rose up against the backdrop of nothingness. On a low sinuous body a pair of yellow eyes and domed head wove back and forth and topped the commander center.

Clarity crashed down a moment later. Why would this place exist in the Void? How could it? With its light on, the buildings in relatively good shape. It was too good to be true, like a little oasis in a desert. Or bait set onto a sharp hook waiting for a hungry mouth to bite. And bite they had. The void fisher was slithering down from the top of the station towards them, even ponderous in its movement, but now the options of escape were limited to riding a slow moving lift, or jumping down a significant height. The creatures long arms would be grasping at them before the lift was halfway down and jumping in their weakened state promised serious harm.

So the hook was slowly reeled in.

Seris sighed audibly. "How unfortunate. These fish are quite persistent, yes?" Seris almost wanted to yawn, but with her condition there wasn't much she could to deal with the anglers. This place was of course temptation in the void. Seris knew there wasn't something right with the light, it was only a matter of time. Maybe next time, she would go with her gut and avoid something that made her feel itchy.

"I believe it is time to go, yes." picking up Atris onto her back. Seris used what energy she had gathered as she revitalized during there time here. A shallow sprint, but one that would get them out of the room immediately. Seris has to gauge where to jump correctly from memory. Going over the side of the best place, Seris dug all her claws into the metal walls or beams for purchase to make their fall non damaging. It would be an effort of what little strength she had. If it made it so they could escape easier or fight, it would be worth it. Though, Seris would opt not to fight at the moment. She was unsure how helpful a wodden doll would be on the encroaching void beast.

Adventure - Light in the Dark
"A meal to me. Quite enjoyable," the Angler said as it slithered down the metal framework and towards them. They were the same words Seris had spoken earlier. It seemed this was the same creature the god of devouring had met inside the leviathan carcass. It was still hungry.

Thinking quickly Seris hurried over to the edge of the platform and swung her legs over the railing. With Atris still clinging to her shoulders the god of devouring slipped over the side. Her claws were divinely sharp and they cut rivets into the steel framework and slowed her fall. The steel slit and tore under her preternatural claws, the torn metal cut and tore at her flesh leaving her hands in bloody strips, but it kept her just ahead of those clutching claws. (-2 HP) Then Seris hit the unground, it was slower than falling, but faster than was comfortable. Pain shot up her legs and something in her leg cracked, she could still move, but trying to move too fast would exacerbate the damage. (-2 HP)

Up above the Angler's yellow eyes were peering down as it slithered down the platform. It would be on them soon.

Decision

Follow The Thread: The Empty Thread led off deeper into the Void. It promised rewards, but was it safe while danger was literally peering down at them?

Dusty Portal - One of the nearby portals wafted in the smell of dust and concrete.

Crackling Portal - In the silence of the void that pops and crackle of static came across clear and distinct. It seemed to emanant from another of the portals.

Seris groaned in pain as she landed. "First mine ribs, now mine hands and leg." it was almost as if she was detached from her injuries. That or scoffing at them like a teen would being told they have to do chores before going out.

Lowering herself to all fours, she would avoid her injured leg as best she could. Though her hands were scrapped up by the metal being torn. She figured three limbs were better than one regardless.

However she had to choose a location to flee. Though it would seem fleeing wouldn't be the only way out of this. The beast was persistent. Responding to it's call, Seris spoke to it, "Think thyself closer, yet so wrong. We'll play by my rules, yes. Safe, thee are not."

It was at this moment, that Seris and Atris should separate. Tossing the doll aside to go to another portal. Seris would Follow the Thread, beckoning to the monster in a teasing manor, "So tugs the fish on thy hook, if thee doesn't hurry. It's meal will slip away. Though, one should worry, when taking the fish out of the water. For you may be it's prey."

At least in this way, one may escape the angler. Though, if it was this persistent, she wondered what it's real flesh tasted like. Not just some scale. Seris imagined, that the angler may have felt the same way. After all, it did agree with her earlier. At least, Seris thinks it might have.

Atris must have been more diminished than xe thought, having been so intent on digesting and analyzing the Knowledge Most Obscure that xe hadn't even noticed xir catgirl mount getting into more and more trouble. Yup, there goes this platform's other inhabitant, probably quite mad with loneliness and yet clearly possessing more common sense than Seris. Annoyance, Atris felt at her. Anger. Curiosity will kill this cat. Xe made a decision to not be the next innocent killed by the kitten dreaming of still being a lioness.

I believe it is time to go, yes.

"No shit!" Atris replied, anger motivating xir to speak aloud for the first time since they met; xir voice was somewhat raspy from disuse and childlike in its androgyny, qualities that clashed with the harshly spat words.

Rather than letting xirself be passively carried by Seris, Atris elects to take the pillows off the beds, removing one of the pillowcases as xe does. Xe then leaps down using the pillowcase as a makeshift parachute and the cushions as padding for xir landing. Xe totters over after landing to chastise Seris some more, soaking one of the pillows with a few drops from a vial xe previously wore in xir Victoria's Secret Compartment. Think taunting god-killing monster unwise, Atris feels to Seris, then hands the pillow over to her. If Seris must keep doing it, trick it into eating this may be less unwise.

Atris definitely agrees that splitting up is wise and expresses cautious hope they might meet again before doing xir best tottering run towards a portal opposite Seris' own.

So the two companions of convenience parted ways. With the Angler bearing down on them Seris took off deeper into the Void, limping on her injured leg and dripping blood that faded. She was in a rough state, but was not relenting.

Moving Seris to new adventure

Meanwhile the living doll decided that any other direction was better than deeper into the Void. Clopping off on xer plastic feet the god of regret rushed towards one of the nearest portals.

Moving Atris to new Realm.

That left the Angler. It's domed head swung side to side and the yellow eyes blinked as it weighed its options of prey. Then it turned and started to slither its way after Seris. The god of devouring had a dangerous path ahead.

OOC: Moving both of you into new threads. May not be till late tonight as solo threads take more time!
