RP Realm: The Cosmic Wastes
With smooth floor of polished black Void and a matching sky, there is nothing natural about the Cosmic Wastes. It was a world of scattered fragments, like a hurricane had come through and torn everything down. The ground out there was a solid black sheet, smooth and flawless, and the detritus laid atop this solid sheet of Nothing. Some of the chunks of wreckage were larger than others and doggedly tried to continue existing even as the wastes gnawed at their edges slowly consuming them.

To the north the ground dropped away leaving a chasm atop which were floating islands that dared travelers to find a way to them. To the east was a white picket fence surrounding what appeared to be chrome RV that had been converted into a diner, the words 'Frank's Diner' still managed to glow. To the south the wastes were glowing a dull orange from a sea of flames, trees were jutting up from the rolling flames, it was a perpetually burning forest. A wall of steam rose up where that sea of fire met waters to the east. Those waters seemed to be a river delta that were still somewhere running and created a barrier of running water.

The Cosmic Wastes are the exposed foundations of the universe. With everything else hammered into rubble, only this solid bedrock of the Void remains. While for now the Wastes are thick with lingering bits of existence, they fade bit by bit each day. In a matter of time all these untethered bits of creation will be washed away. When that time comes, whether it be centuries or millennia, all that will remain are the pieces salvaged and saved by the Unifiers.

For those who survive beyond the apocalypse, the Cosmic Wastes are the great unknown, the place where adventures begin and the dangerous wilds that caravans must risk if they seek to visit others. And risk there is. Predators from a thousand worlds still stalk the ruins, men and women, not true Unifiers, but protected by various forces, roam, some mad, some fatalistic, others jealous of Unifiers with their power to repair and renew. And there are less definable dangers still.

Using his newly discovered power of limited omnipresence he appeared within the Cosmic Wastes. From his own vantage he assumed he was not far from the cathedral would have allowed him egress but that was not his focus. Having already ventured to Frank's Diner and the suburban township surrounding it Abethur decided to explore new areas. With no reason to travel in any particular direction he elected to go westward.

Alone on the Wastes, Abethur looked from the burning forest to the south and the great chasm to the north and elected that the river posted the least treacherous barrier, so west he went. The walk was long, the ground was flat but littered with debris and would have sent the god of evolution tumbling and stumbling if he weren't able to shift his nerves and reinforce his tendons making himself more nimble in the process. So he climbed over piles of brick, walked along the underbelly on an overturned bus and went through the doorway inside a wall that no longer supported a building. Eventually he reached the river.

It was black and smooth as glass. Smooth as the perfect plane upon which it ran. The water was hemmed in on either side by a mishmash of mud, dirt, sand and other loose detritus it has collected to form its own river banks, the smaller bits interspersed by large pieces of metal, wood or stone. It was hard to say how fast the water was running, at least till Abethur dipped a hand in, then he felt the current yank at him. These deceptively still waters were rushing mighty to the south.

Across the river Abethur could see a shimmering house of light glowing on the horizon. There was also a huge yawning skull of some long deceased beast and... was that movement? Abethur thought he saw a glimpse of several individuals walking in a line, but they were just as quickly obscured by the refuse littering the Wastes.

Abethur placed his hand on the surface of the water, making sure not to let it take him away in the current. While he did he focused on the light across the water. His actions had no great purpose. Simply as a way of convincing himself completely that he shouldn't attempt to swim across. While he could grant himself the physique to do so, perhaps, it would weaken him.

So he sought out an alternate route to reach the curious house. Perhaps a shallow or land bridge or tunnel that he might cross through. If nothing presented itself he would then turn his attention to the wreckage that he had available to him, seeing if there was something that might serve as even a crude boat.

Following the curve of the artificial river banks, Abethur's hike through the Cosmic Wastes took him south. Smoke started to hang in the air and the temperature crept up degree by degree as Abethur got closer to the sea of fire, but eventually his hunt proved fruitful. A blackened tree trunk hung across the river. While scorched by the flames, the tree looked fairly sturdy, giving it a couple of experimental taps left bits crumbling away into ash. It would serve as a bridge. Temporarily.

New Cosmic Waste Feature Discovered: The Charred Bridge (It is good for five trips across the river. Crossing from one side to the other counts as a trip, so 2 full round trips.)

Would Abethur cross over now was the question?

Abethur climbed up on the ashen tree and crossed it limits without hesitation. There was no value to remaining on this side of the black waters and so he moved with a deliberate haste to reach his true goal.

Carefully stepping onto the log Abethur felt it pop and crackle under his weight, the flame weakened fibers snapping and loosening, but it held for now and he crossed to the far side of the river with only a few soot stains. On the far he turned back north and made his way across the refuse there with a clear goal in mind, the shimmering structure of light.

His legs were burning by the time he had hiked back up. His frail form had walked more today than it had since he'd awoken, he was getting close to the point of exhaustion with all this hiking, but he could hold for a little longer.

Approaching the structure of light it looked very much like a regular house if that house had been built using layers of hardened illumination instead of wood and stone. Stepping through the door, Abethur entered somewhere new.

Moving Abethur to a new thread!

Abethur left the Chapel once again and head towards the West. Attuned as he was to the land he moved with purpose towards his destination, avoiding deadends and other obstacles to the best of his abilities. He neared the area but did not approach fully. Instead he surveyed his surroundings in hopes that he might be able to identify the beings he had seen at the chapel.

With a piece of Abethur still lingering the Green Glade and waiting for his fellow gods to return their attention their, the god of evolution set back out into the Wastes. He had a new goal in mind. This goal took him back to the west and where the river created its natural barrier. It was almost as if Abethur knew what to expect, he waited on the shore until the flow of the river washed a large truck past him, then the god of evolution nimbly leapt onto the back on it and used it as a temporary bridge.

On the far side of the river Abethur hiked his way through the debris and to the far side, there he disappeared into a more obscure corner of the Wastes.

Abethur moved out of the portal and took stock of himself once more. He was nearing completion of some of his greatest labors. He could feel it. He just had to solidify them now, root them in the power of this new reality. Then he would be one step closer to his ideals. He looked to his allies.

"I will be returning to the Chapel for the moment. If you need me seek me in the Glade."

With that Abethur moved out into the Wastes, using his knowledge and Adapt to avoid anything that would infringe his ability to reach the Chapel.

Seris looked about at the others, "Well that was exciting. I hope our decision to go after the artifacts was worth it. It's a shame I didn't get a better look at the rest which resided there."

Looking at her new scythe of hardened smoke, Seris gave it a few strong practice swings. Twirling it about with strength and finesse, it's blade went in broad precise strokes.

Smiling, looked to the others again, "So where to next?"

Nox considered.

"I have some errands that I need to run by myself for a bit, so will be parting ways with you guys for a bit. However, if you need to talk to me I am maintaining a self in the glade as well." he said.

"We can meet up again soon to go on another adventure, but this I need to do myself. Hit me up in the glade if you need to talk. Toodles!" he said as he suddenly disappeared in puff of darkness as he shadowstepped away through the shadows of the debris of the wastes.

Alone with Seris, Neru pondered for a moment. "Well, I'd like to take Terry back to the Reforged Realms, and introduce him to the imps. After that, we can go wherever. We could head to the chapel, see if there are any doors that lead to somewhere fun. Or wander the wastes."

Neru will take a quick trip to the Reforged Realms to leave Terry with the Imps, and then go back out to wherever Seris agrees to.

With the adventure concluded the gods each went their separate ways. They passed the shimmering fortress of light, with no sign of those light-hunters they'd met. Crossing back over the rapidly rushing river was still an ordeal (A more permanent solution would need to be found if they planned to making visiting the Western Wastes a habit) Nox sauntered off towards the diner and Littleton while Neru and Abethur returned to the Chapel, Neru continuing in deeper to the Reforged Realm itself, with Terry padding along behind.

That only left Seris to decide what she was going to do with herself. It seemed now was one of those rare quiet moments, there were no pressing concerns that had to be addressed immediately.

Seris considered her options as she looked around in the wastes.

A danged smile broke on her face, she knew exactly what she would do to kill this quiet time.

There was revenge to be had and a Void Angler to be ate. Firstly, Seris would need to find her way back to the void.
