Nox entered and bid Neru and Abethur to follow. When they were met by the women, he listened to them politely before following them into the frontroom.

"Ah...thank you ladies for the welcome. We were unsure if this house was inhabited or not, although I did notice signs of some recent entry as well as those rather snarky glyphs you guys scattered around the front yard. And my curiosity was piqued. But know that we mean no harm and come in peace right now." he said as diplomatically as he could muster.

"Actually...this town is a very interesting place. Definitely pretty on the surface and not so much underneath. And the fair lady here " he said as he motioned to the old woman who seemed to be a leader or mentor figure for the other two women.

"...seems to have an inkling that we're not just random people walking down the street." he continued.

"We wanted to check the house out and see what made it so different from the other houses here, but you three are so much more interesting company. Would you tell us more about your magic and the town and really how you lovely ladies all fit into the working of things here?"

Abethur moved through the darkness with growing irritation. Each stumbling step and minor inconvenience reminded him that he was limited by the perceptions of his mortal body. In a different life he had senses that defied description. Now something so simple as the absence of light caused him to be reduced to following like a babe after its mother.Still he didn't allow his bitterness to come through when he spoke to the gathered women.

"Yes we mean you no harm. I would give my name but I do not know if you are fae. I have been told such things are dangerous."

He gave Neru a slight nod for the helpful advice.

When Neru answered Abethur, he did so without taking any special precaution to avoid being overheard by the trio of women.

"Oh, don't worry Abethur, these are not fae. They are witches. Usually evil, but they can also be helpful, specially when dealing with a greater evil. They are also great cooks, and really get a kick out of teaching a lesson to folk doing things wrong."

Neru followed Nox inside, also curious for what insight might the witches have.

"Of course, guests are always a pleasant surprise," the old woman crooned as Nox explained how the gods had found their way to this ramshackle door step. There was a small titter from one of the ladies as Neru mentioned witches, one breathed about how precious the child was, the older woman continued, "How we fit in here? Oh it's the simplest thing in the world. We live here dear. Everything lives somewhere after all? Littleton is a cozy place, the people are so friendly."

"Except for that bitch Sharon," muttered the lithe woman.

The older woman continued as though she hadn't heard the interjection. "Littleton is lovely on all it's sides!" She exclaimed happily, nodding her head in agreement with its own statement. "Bright and clean and warm during the days and full of mystery and excitement during the nights, and those days and nights never end! What's not to enjoy?"

"Not random people you say?" The woman continued, "I suppose it depends on ones perspective. Everyone is random to someone else, at least till they encounter one another." The other two women were silent, there was confusion in their unspoken words. The older woman seemed to hear it and she smiled. "These are Outsiders, dears, cosmic beings, demons, angels, celestials, or fallen gods. It all depends on the lens one uses." The other women tensed. "No need to fret, they're weak as babes," the woman reassured her friends conversationally.

"Weak? Then what do we do with them? Isn't there power in their hearts, their entrails?" Now the lithe woman seemed intrigued.

"We do nothing dear, you can go poison Sharon if you're feeling restless." That answer seemed satisfying enough. "No, this precious little town is plenty." She addressed the gods directly once again. "Besides, you three are still defining yourselves aren't you? What good is a demon or an angel without a flock to give them context? Why, we ladies could call ourselves gods as easily as you could right now couldn't we?" The question brought another titter from the other two. "But flocks are drawn to such beings. You're adrift now, but you could have a home again if you wished it. I can see the traces on you. But this new home won't be like what you're used to, no, you'll have roommates this time." The thought brought a cackle from her. "Does that please you? Knowing you might have a slice of dominion once again?"

Nox looked amused as the witched bantered among themselves, their emotions going from concern to fear to opportunism to something more thoughtful and spiritual. He's glad he didn't have to fight or flee from them though - he didn't come there for conflict after all. And the darkness always remembered a gracious host.

He shrugged then when the crone asked her question.

"I don't actually need worshippers. Unlike actual gods, I never did. They feed on faith, but for me it's more like a treat or an optional side dish. My existence is not defined by mortals or gods, fair honorable elder. No...my existence defines them. Defines ALL of you. Everything except nothing. And sure...in the past, gods and mortals alike loved and feared and revered me. But I never really needed anything really. They all came to me I never sought them out. It was all icing on the cake. Mind you, my power now is a cosmic joke. But I take it in good humor as best I can. Better this than being disintegrated in the cataclysm. Or snake chow for that matter." he replied conversationally.

"But with that said...I don't actually, despite my rep, dislike people. On the contrary, they are amusing and fun and interesting and so diverse! I'm pleased to see some mortals and then some survived the end." he continued.

He then made a wry expression.

"So you think I'll attract a flock regardless of what I do then, yes? Then how about it then...why don't you three become my first post-end worshippers then? You could potentially find great strength in the darkness I offer. You say you love the night as much as the day. Then in a way, you already love me don't you?"

Neru made it a point to make snoring noises as Nox defined himself to the witches. When the God of Darkness was done, he gave his take on the question.

"I don't really care about that. But it could be fun. And I do care about fun a great deal. So yeah, if you can make it fun, then I'm all ears"

"Oh ho ho, that's a sweet offer, dear," the old woman replied to Nox's offer of servitude, "but let's wait till you have a home of your own before we discuss giving up our own."

Clutching her cane the crone knelt some with some effort so she was eye to eye with Neru, then she be beckoned him closer with a knobby finger. "It's not up to me to make it anything, this isn't something we can give you, it's something that requires your own power to awaken. Remnants and echoes are draw to beings like you. All that's required is enough of that power. While you may be weak as babes, there are three of you! Go find somewhere quiet and make yourselves comfortable. The power will find you if you give it time. Choose a place carefully though, it'll become an important spot afterwards." Her words were enigmatic and the sly smile that spread across her face said that she knew it.

Struggling back to her feet, the portly woman taking her elbow to help her, the crone stood back up, "If you're restless for those flocks you've lost and playing games with mortal lives, you can have it back once more. Though it won't be as you remembered it." That sly smile shifted back into a more grandmotherly form as the crone turned to her two companions. "Now come, let's go make Sharon's teeth fall out, that'll make you feel better now won't it sweetie?"

Nox shrugged helplessly.

"Well...can't say I didn't try. Heh. The offer is still on the table though, ladies." he said with a playful wink and an almost flirtatious tone of voice.

He turned to the others.

"Whatever it is the lovely crone thinks will happen seems like it will happen in its own due time. If it happens to me, I'll deal with it then. Best not to rush the universe. Instead, the darkness will come to us in time. In the meantime, best to enjoy ourselves as best we can." he said.

He turned to the three witches again.

"So ladies...before we go, would you like to show us some of your magic, or tell us more about the kind of magic or traditions you witches practice? Maybe we could even have a magic party with a certain lovely witches cinnamon-free and scrumptious brownies too? It's been ages since I've had a good brownie. And if you need help in the kitchen I can whip up some assistance for you? What do you say ladies? We can even talk smack about Sharon too while we eat." he proposed.

Abethur listened to the witch speak about reclaiming his divine power and the mortal charges that worshiped him. He was silent as he contemplated that. He had never desired worshippers, at least not initially. They flocked to him because he was powerful and because they flocked to him he used their power for their benefit; an exchange of a kind but one he had never really questioned.

As a stone given animation his thoughts were rigid and simple, driven by his nature and power more than rational choice or desire. Now, bound to flesh, his body forced him to experience things he didn't particularly enjoy or understand and chief: pain, emotion, choice.

"I am fine to share if it must be so. All things change. All things must change."

He then looked to Nox, curious about his fascination with magic. In his own native plane magic was...mundane. Could not all beings command the world around them as much as they command themselves?

The older woman tilted her head at Nox's and Neru's request for magical indulgement. Smiling that same sly smile her head bobbed in her shawl. "Witches is such a laden word. We are practitioners. What we do is put intent into words and symbols. Words have power to reshape the world after all. Come ladies, our guests requested a show, let's not leave such esteemed visitors disappointed."

The two other 'practitioners' stepped forward and joined hands with her. In the candlelight of the abandoned house their eyes turned milky white as they started to chant. The words were in a foreign tongue, but while the meaning eluded the gods there was a certain musicality to their lilt. The room around the group brightened and transformed at the beck of their chants. The peeling wallpaper flattened and regained its color, the water damage reversed itself and the carpet grew back like it were grass. In a few moments time the group was standing in a cozy living room that was even warmed by a fire that ignited in the hearth.

"There now, perhaps that's more comfortable for guests." The old woman said.

Nox looked on with obvious interest as the witches did their coven-glamor casting. His smile grew from a grin into something wider as the spell progressed, although he silently and politely waited for the effect to swing into full bloom before reacting.

"Oh ladies! This is most impressive work." he said with a purr as he walked slowly around the room, inspecting things.

He ran his hands along the mantle of the fireplace. Felt the heat from the fire. He went to another part of the room and knelt down to run his hands along the floor where carpeting had appeared when before it was bare wood, stroking it with his fingertips. He went to another sside of the room and gently knocked on the wall and listening to how it sounded dense and normal not the more hollow sound of partially rotting and overly dry wood, and of course rubbed his hand along where once was peeling paint but was now smooth, pained finish.

"Oh ladies...I was expecting maybe the lighting of a few candles from afar, and maybe some minor hexes like giving Sharon a toothache or something or calming down a startled animal. Maybe some potioning to like...grant darkvision for a few minutes or perhaps heal some cuts and bruises. But this is a high-quality glamor. You can even interact with it without automatically dispelling it. I'm very happy with the quality right now." he said, sincerely.

"I misjudged this place. There is true magic here, as well as many of the good aspects darkness here too. I feel truly sorry for Sharon's dentist. Or perhaps just the opposite...because I know he's going to be getting some good business soon. he said.

"Perhaps maybe I actually will take a real interest one day in becoming your patron rather than just joking about it. It's rare to find mortals who interest and intrigue me. But not now ladies - the time is not yet right. But don't stop being interesting and fun. Because one day, you may receive a visit from me again. Especially if you've just baked brownies or something."

Neru watched with great interest as the transformation took place, but when it was done he yawned loudly, this time forcing himself to seem uninterested.

"Yeah, yeah, that is nice and all, but what about the monster here in Littleton? Could your magic defeat him? Or perhaps you are the ones that created it in the first place?"

The three women smiled at Nox's compliments and bobbed their heads along with his observations. "Those are sharp eyes, I wonder if they'd be as keen if they were in another head," the head of the trio said thoughtfully. Her tone did not seem to be entirely joking. "Perhaps one day we can discuss patronage. Come back when you have a home where you can hang your hat."

Looking to Neru, the tall lithe woman replied, "Which monster do you mean? And why would be interfere with them?"

The plump one added, "Oh no, none of those are our handy work. There are plenty of monsters in the world without needing to make anymore."

Nox chuckled.

"Now ladies...no need to be so feisty." he replied. "My eyes don't work like that. On their own, they have no power. They'd be two balls of dead useless flesh."

"But with that said...I believe we've heard of at least two actual monsters so far, discounting the gators in the sewers mind you. Someone with clawed or hooked hands attacked a woman in a car, and there is some sort of man-beast thing in a cabin in the woods. I am sure there's other things here too." he added.

"Anywho...if I ever decide to create a divine domain and dot he whole god patron thing again, I'll let you guys know. We will have to get going soon. Please be careful going out at night, and don't be too hard on Sharon now. Heh."

Abethur listened but had lost interest. So that was the magic that his fellow gods were so excited to see. Abethur was not unimpressed, as such, but he was underwhelmed. At the mention of monsters he perked up. He had made his fair share of monsters in the past. He was perhaps one of the greatest creators of such beings. A slight smile appeared on his face as he believed he might discuss something he was familiar with, for once. It soured as he realized they were not interested in making more but destroying those that already exist.

"It has been. May we see each other again. Goodbye."

"Yeah, there has been a lot of monsters scaring and eating people. But if you know nothing about it it can't be helped."

After Nox hinted that the conversation was coming to an end, and Abethur confirmed it, Neru turned around and followed the later, not bothering to say goodbye to the witches. After all, manners were reserved for those that don't eat children.

Aspects Available

Spark of Insight: Seeing magic at work left some of that lingering power in the air. A trace of arcane power.
Stat: +1 Arcanus

Tricks of the Trade: While the gods once had whole worlds of knowledge tucked away their realm crumbling had brought with it much of their collected knowledge. Here was chance to glean some of it back after seeing the illusion worked before them.
Inspiration: +10% Inspiration to a magical project

A Peculiar Scent: Something about Littleton had drawn so many creatures of dubious nature. Taking a bit of the realms soil with you, it could be scattered and would act as a similar lure drawing in a noteworthy creature.
One Time Power: Monster Lure - When the soil is scattered it will draw a noteworthy creature of the resident realm to the location. (This will be a dangerous being.)

In the Spirit of Generosity: While the house now appeared to be whole and immaculate, one nail jutting out from the wall was still rusted and bent. It seemed to defy being glamoured. This simple bit of iron held a surprising power to it, but it would also defy whoever touched it first, making it useless to them.
Shard: Dispelling Touch - Whoever is gifted the shard will obtain the power Dispelling Touch which allows the user to remove a magical effect from something they contact.

Eye of Newt and Cauldron Bubble: One of the candles resting of the mantle place also held some power to it. The black wax and flame dancing at the end of the wick were infused with potential.
Artifact Component: Black Candle - A component with which to build an artifact, will add wax to whatever it ends up being used to create.

Abethur moved out of the witching house, perhaps a little underwhelmed. All told the witches were below-average in terms of raw magical power but perhaps that was the nature of this world. Not all planes were filled with the extreme manifestations he was familiar with it seemed. That may be a blessing in disguise he mused as he looked upon the loosed fragments of Reality that flocked to him like moths to flame. He reached out and claimed the most interesting fragment, claiming it for his own.

Abethur claims Eye of Newt and Cauldron Bubble

There was always something interesting about wax. Its morphic qualities amused him once and perhaps they might again.

From Ancient Thread Adventure (Unless Talon says otherwise)

It was a sunny midafternoon when Nox stepped out from the Wastes and back into Frank's Diner. The place was just as he'd last seen it. A few unhurried folks were sitting at the bar or inside booths and eating lunch, the friendly middle aged waitress threw a smile Nox's direction and the smell of burgers and deep fried food filled the air. But lunch was not his reason for being here. Heading back out onto the street, Nox made his way back to the aptly named Witching House. Stepping through the door he found it quiet, there were still signs of the witches with the half melted candles on the floor and esoteric symbols painted on the rotting hardwood, but no sign of the witches themselves. There was nothing else to do but wait.

As the afternoon dwindeld and the sun started to set Nox felt a change in the air of the house, an expectation hung there, like a breath waiting to be released. On the basement stairs Nox heard an uneven thump-thump-thump, then the door creaked open and the old crone came through still wrapped in her shawl. "Oh my, it seems we have company. You're looking better today. Make yourself comfortable, my sisters won't be long." Humming tunelessly to herself, she went about lighting the candles around the room.

True enough, only a few minutes later the front door opened and the rotund woman came through and let out a squeak when she saw Nox standing in the parlor. Not long after the taller woman came after, she was wearing fitted athletic gear and judging by the way she was puffing she had jogged over. In the deepening gloom of the evening her eyes also widened.

"Now, bright eyes, what bought to back to our doorstep? Or did you just missing our lovely company," asked the bent backed leader of the witching trio.

Nox blinked his eyes innocently.

"Why...of course I missed your company. You three are just lovely. Charming even." he replied with a velvety slickness as he greeted the crone.

He took her offer of hospitality and sat in a plush chair in a shadowy corner of the living room. He had little of the sense of doubt and weakness that he possessed the last time they spoke. Instead, he had a certain vitality that wasn't there before. A confidence and a sense of hopefulness that wasn't there before.

He considered.

"Well you lovely ladies. I did tell you earlier that one day, I'd come for you. Now, what exactly that means has yet to be determined. But I'll warn you all once and only once." he said as his eyes flickered a moment with starlight before becoming black again.

"I'm far deadlier than I appear, so play nice ladies. I've never eaten witches before, but I'm open to the experience of trying something new." he said with an amused chuckle. His face was unreadable, and appeared friendly. If he was merely making a playful joke or being serious was hard to determine.

"But worry not. I did not come here with violence as my main objective. On the contrary, I think by the end of the evening all three of you will benefit quite greatly. And perhaps Sharon will lose more than a few teeth in the process." he said with a smirk.

"So I have a proposition for you. It's both a test and an opportunity. And the primordial night doesn't lie when it comes to such things. But the prize, should you earn it, will be immense: immortality, health, and an increase to your power beyond that of any normal witch. And all without the usual nasty curses and mystical backlashes and such that would accompany such power. You three would become divinely chosen high-priestesses of the first night, and in exchange for your fealty true greatness would be yours. I also would make you privy to an entirely new and unexplored school of witchcraft with limitless potential! And I very much have the ability to grant such a bequeathal of power to you all." he said.

"However, I want one thing from you tonight first as a test but also a demonstration." he uttered as he shifted in his chair.

"I'd like you three to work a ritual or some other working that would grant me the power to manipulate and move souls, or at least access to a source or thing I could harvest an aspect of existence from to acquire the power anyway. I should be able to transfer the soul of someone residing in one body to another, or perhaps one in a golem to another golem for example. An ability like that. Do you think you can figure something out?"
