The Reforging of a Realm
The Chapel had fallen away, the four gods hung in a swirling cloud of mass and matter and metaphysics. Around them was a void, not the void, but a void. It would be short lived, the gods could feel matter already joining molecules, forming bonds of matter, soon there would be water, earth, air, stars painted across a finite sky and more.

But all that was still coming, in this moment there was time to nudge this shifting realm. This was but a moment in time, but a highly important moment. Important choices would be decided in this span of heartbeats.

But counterintuitively, the first choice the gods felt had nothing to do with the composition of the lands themselves. There was shadows of peoples floating about the edges of this swirling soon-to-be, races that had never been properly brought into existence when the worlds had existed, they had always existed as mere potential, but now was their chance at being. The gods felt they could pluck out one of these potential peoples, imprint upon them and guide them to be something more than mere potential. There was much about them that could be changed in the days to come, but each of these people had fundamental traits which would define them.

First of the Nameless
Description: Tall and lanky. Their faces are capable of expression but they don't exhibit it often, this people is naturally curious, always tinkering, trying to figure out how things work. They are dispassionate and bear little in the way of fondness or loyalty.
Traits: Curious, cold

Second of the Nameless
Description: Smaller than most of the other races, this people loves games and pranks. They see no as a challenge rather than a dictate. Their pranks can go too far, but often stop short due to their lack of follow through, they loathe doing too much work.
Traits: Mischievous, lazy

Third of the Nameless
Description: Despite being physically average, this people are practically fearless. Whatever the odds might be, they're not likely to be quelled, perhaps this goes hand in hand with the fact they are not very bright at all.
Traits: Brave, stupid

Fourth of the Nameless
Description: The least humanoid of the bunch, these creatures have a pronounced upper body and scales that serve as natural armoring. This couples well with their natural strength and makes them one of the most physical dangerous beings, which is likely why they also resort to violence as one of their first answers to problems.
Traits: Powerful, violent

Fifth of the Nameless
Description: This race is wise where others are cunning. They find answers by watching the world around them, they often come to the most efficient answer in this way, but this analytical nature also makes them slow to adapt to situations or engage with new ideas.
Traits: Intuitive, Indecisive

Sixth of the Nameless
Description: A uniform species, other outside their race have trouble telling one from another, it doesn't help that they also reproduce quickly leading short and energetic lives, but despite their fleeting natures these creatures remember grievances and hold onto them fiercely, passing them down from one generation to the next making alliances and friendships a trying matter.
Traits: Abundant, Petty

Seventh of the Nameless
Description: This people can sense the otherworldly like other races can smell and feel. This sensitivity makes them especially adept at learning new powers and magics. They are also deeply fearful, which can stunt their ability to engage with risky new ideas or challenging encounters with others.
Traits: Arcane, Cowardly

Eighth of the Nameless
Description: This people are toned and lean. Capable of working tirelessly for long hours if they set their mind to a task they are not dissuaded by hardship. They can also be exceedingly greedy, combined with their work ethic, it means they get what they want more often than not, regardless of others.
Traits: Hardworking, greedy

Ninth of the Nameless
Description: Not truly immortal, these beings are as close as it comes. They age slowly, they are hardy, they are intelligent. If it were not for the fact they bred so very slowly they might be natural rulers of the world, but where other species measure themselves by the thousands, this people is in the dozens, every death in their numbers is a deep blow. They breed as quickly as they live, which is to say, hardly at all. (Not recommended for anyone who has any aspirations for empires)
Traits: Timeless, Few

Ten of the Nameless
Description: Then there was the smallest people, they could leap and climb and sneak in ways that would seem impossible to other peoples. Walls might as well be ladders to them. They were also ravenous, they can easily eat twice their weight a day and will generally eat far more than they need to sustain themselves.
Traits: Nimble, Glutenous

It was only a matter for the gods to reach out and salvage one of these people and give them a name. A name is a powerful thing.

A name creates identity.

Legacy.

Legend.

OOC: These are not exclusive choices, two gods may choose the same people. These are their base traits, whatever changes these people undergo, they will always have them (So don't think you can pick a highly attractive positive trait and excise them of their negative. They'll always be lazy or few or stupid.) Individuals of a race can buck the trend of their people, these traits are applied across the vast majority of them.

The Reforging of a Realm
After leaving the witches and Littleton, Nox and the others had decided to return to the chapel to plan their next moves. The cosmic wastes still was an odd concept to Nox. At one time, the darkness and thus he himself touched basically everywhere. But now he was just merely a self-contained individual, and the wastes while they looked dark weren't Dark (with a capital D). And as such, they felt new and alien to him despite his aeons of experience. It was strange and unsettling.

But they made it back to the Chapel-door they had created, and passed through the divine locks. And upon emerging into the chapel proper, he immediately spotted Seris with his keen eyes. And surprise flashed across his face for an instant. But then all of a sudden reality was literally dropping away beneath then as the Chapel melted away and they found themselves in the center of a metaphysical and literal void.

Nox tried to shadowstep back out, but found he could not. Because this wasn't actual shadow it was closer to the nothingness that had ate away his old life, while still being something divine and real. It was like going through puberty, or a butterfly hatching from a cocoon - try as you might to avoid it, he could not and had to let it run its course. This had something to do with his new divine life cycle.

And as the void swirled around them, raw potential from the before surging and gushing forward into the now, catalyzed by the proximity of so many gods in one place, his divine instincts took over and he acted in the moment as much out of instinct as intention.

And it had been a long time since Nox had decided to create sentient life. It was something he never intended to do so again, as he was content with his status as a cross-culturally applicable primordial being. And if he was going through some sort of divine puberty right now that was forcing him to spawn new reality and that was not entirely within his control then he would be damned if he didn't make sure traces of his old dark perfection didn't influence whatever it was that being created in this vortex.

And so he would choose to sire a race that would stand above all the others, just like as a primordial he once stood above petty gods. While right now he was an existential joke that couldn't stand above much of anything really, his old pride and sense of self held firm that one day perhaps he may reclaim his primordial mantle. And for what his race would lack in quantity, they would make up for with sheer overall quality.

Ninth of the Nameless Claimed

He reached forward toward the shades of the forgotten potential race from the before that he decided to grasp onto, and claim as his own creation.

"I am Nox, the First Darkness. My very existence defines the Light and defines the Void, and while I am but am ember in the wind I do declare that I still am objectively real. And in the name of primordial Darkness, I do define you from the potential to the actual." he declared aloud boldly into the swirling void.

"And I name you the Noctem."

Seris has little time to wander to the temple. Much less even introduce herself to the new beings infront of her. However, it would seem that the energies and ghosts of existence wpuld cling to them. It almost made Seris feel all the more inclined and powerful. She survives the end of almost all. Gets ate, and now it decideds to let her be a part of the next new one.

The energies swirling were of all that comprised existence and a world. It was like a cosmic seed, a birth of a new realm. Yet along with it clinged to them, were those of peoples and creations never allowed to the exist once before. Grasping at it, she helped mold it's form into something new that carried it's traits.

Carving their form and bodies into existence as she grasped their being from the concept. She used her claws willingly to do so. A deep whisper came from her, "Oh how fun, what ravenous little monsters thy'll be. Hop, skip, jump, leap, and pounce. Fill your bellies to your hearts content, nash and naw with such fervor."

Tapping her chin lightly with a claw she grinned a fanged smile, a soft pur escaped Seris, "How about the Hidarugami, yes? That'll do nicely for my little teethlings."

Naru watched marveled as the chapel collapsed on itself, giving way for a brand new realm to take form where it once stood.

And like before, the Rule of Choice had manifested again. Neru was starting to like this new universe that had been force upon him, it was certainly entertaining. This time, the choice wasn't a personal one, but rather to decide which of the creatures the new realm had on the menu would have the privilege of experimenting existance. Floating in the soon-to-be-filled nothingness alongside Neru were his adventure partners, and a newcomer. Both Nox and the stranger had made their choices, one selecting quality without quantity, and the other brawn without brains. Both of those, Neru thought, were bad choices. Why take a creature with potential to fail, when there was clearly a superior choice? Manifesting his will, Neru had the Second group of creatures come to him. But they didn't do so. Neru chuckled to himself, and made his way towards them instead. He was sure now he had made the right choice. While the others were taking an advantage along a hindrance, the lazy and playful yet-to-name group was perfect. Their playfulness made them into interesting choices, but it was their innate lazyness that sold them for Neru. Most sensible people would see that trait as a negative, but for Neru it was something positive. Perhaps it would be hard to convince them to work, but once they started they would try to finish quickly to go back to their lollygagging.

"Hey. I'm Neru. Wanna be friends? There is a lot of pranks and games in it for you lot if you come with me. Also, you are Imps now"

Abethur stood placidly in the chapel, watching with a sort of detached curiosity as the place fell into itself  and thrust them into a void. He looked around, his body floating weightlessly in the darkness before him. He drifted through this void, looking at the shades and echoes of mortals yet unborn, yet uncreated. He found most of them to be stifling, the immutable traits of their natures chafing his psyche. That is until he happened upon the sixth such shade. In them he saw something. Their short lives, their long grudges, their numbers; all of them were ripe with the potential for evolution. So he claimed their pattern, binding them to him with a whispered name.

"Anaxi."

Noctem. Hidarugami. Imps. Anaxi.

The new names swirled through the tumult of creation and lent weight and substance to these potential beings. They were no longer might-have-beens, but were going-to-bes. But not quite yet. For now the specters of peoples hung about the edges of this still forming world. Amongst these specters there were also impressions of important figures. Members of these peoples who would be influential, who would influence the paths they took, their approaches to problems. There were many of these possible people, but the gods could lend their weight to one to ensure they came into being.

Diplomatic
A leader who finds strength through words, treaties and alliances. This is a leader who relies on soft power and is likely to try to appease all parties to some extent.

Decisive
Steely willed, decisive, this is a leader who determines a course of action and strives towards it. They instill confidence and support and others are likely to follow them.

Curious
Less interested in actually leading, tis person wants to know how things work, what lies over the next hill or at the bottom of a cave.

The gods can lend weight to one such individual to make sure they manifest within this newly forming tribe.

Neru pondered for a moment how the logistics of the imp society would work on his part of the realm. A leader was needed, if anything to avoid total uncontrollable chaos. He managed to resist the urge to make this leader someone that would stir even more chaos than prevent. He liked chaos as much as any other kid, but he knew full well that the imps would get themselves exterminated if he didn't put someone with a strong grip in charge to keep them focused. And so, Neru randomly selected one of the imps, and made them into a Decisive leader. The imps were to cause havoc, but they would do so thanks to the leadership of this unique imp. The Implord, Neru decided, as he needed a different name to single him out among his kin.

The Reforging of a Realm
The Path of Dark Perfection that was sponsored by Nox was not an easy one, nor one just anyone could follow. However, those few who did would gain great favor in the eyes of the First Darkness. Perhaps it was due to some deep-seated reminiscence for what Nox had lost, or perhaps a subconscious desire to see himself rise again and defined into something great again while knowing that right now he was far from being great. But for whatever reason, he continued to emphasize the dark grace of his own thematics in that of the race he was currently spawning. And so he selected for traits that would help further synergize with the natural physical and mental abilities of his people. He had to make sure they could make up for their scarcity of numbers after all.

And so Nox pointed at one of the formless shades within the vortex, one that his keen eyes knew would be superior to a normal member of his people. This leader, whom he coined the Dark Archon, would be a Decisive leader indeed. One who was a paragon of its people, full of charisma and potence. One who could help bring out the natural strengths of the Noctem to their fullest.

The Reforging of a Realm
While some gods decisively made their decisions and others considered to bide their time more power congealed. The realm was starting to take shape, there was land, air, water. It was indistinct, but growing firmer by the moment.

In these last few moments the gods could feel the underpinnings of this realm, the metaphysical fabric of the place. Later it would become crystallized and unresponsive, in these vital moments the gods could reach out and leave their mark upon an area of this nameless world. It would impact the powers they could manipulate in the days to come.

Shape Earth

One power was tied to the lands and hills. It allowed a god to call up the earth, and dig valleys, raise mountains and command the lands themselves. It was a far faster process than mortals could ever manage, these changes occurred over hours rather than millennia. Slow and steady, but marking out permanent changes.

Control the Weather

Above the earth was the heavens, here the wind resided, the clouds floated and the rains and snows waited to be unleashed. A god attuned to the weather could summon clouds, raise and lower the temperature, summon rain or unseasonable snows. There was a flair of the dramatic to bending the weather to ones will, but the change was fleeting as all weather was, only lasting as long as the god focused their attention to the task.

A Divine Shrine

Lastly, the gods could imprint themselves upon a piece of this forming realm and shape a shrine. This holy site would become a center of their power, when the god is near it they would be empowered, capable of enacting miracles of healing or smiting, becoming physically empowered and gaining limited abilities over their environment. But all these powers great powers were linked to proximity.

So the gods could choose a way in which to manifest their powers in this new realm.

The Reforging of a Realm
Hidden at first amidst the maelstrom of creation and potential, perhaps conjured there at this critical moment by the tenative connection Seris shared through their chance and brief meeting, was a doll. Half the size of an adult, yet clearly as much a divinity as the others here.

Atris was confused, frightened even. How did xe even get here?! Xe decided not to draw too much attention to it, lest reality cast xir back at the climax of this most pivotal moment. Here was an opportunity to collect the shattered pieces and make something new. A shared opportunity, but the doll would not have it any other way. Watching silently as the other gods make their decisions and feeling the unchosen choices lingering in creation's perephriary, Atris made the executive decision to support the unknown gods in their endeavor. Xe did not know what manner of people xe would sculpt xirself if given infinite agency, and found supporting a far more natural decision.

So many unmade choices. Atris felt bad for the nameless peoples passed over and wished fervantly that xe could give them all a chance, but xir power and alloted time permitted only one. Seeing the impulsiveness and lack of care inherent in many of the other gods' peoples, Atris elected to seize the Fifth of the Nameless to contrast the others, raising a Diplomatic leader to mediate between the more decisive peoples that they would share creation with. Xe felt the potential swirling, asking for a form with which to define themselves. Atris panicked, a thousand threads of thought competing with xir own indecisive nature. The resulting creatures were just as indecisive in form as action, sewn together from disparate parts just as their universe was; one might have the core of a discarded teddy bear with a mechanical grasper hand and the mummified leg of a fallen friend, another could be a walking mass of stones collected from all the lands it had visited with a television for a face and an ever-changing number of arms as it indisively flitted between utility and practicality. After all, when given infinite options, how could one ever decide on the right one?!

A name? Descriptive names invited fewer unnecessary questions, and so xe christened xir people the Patch People.

The next decision presented to them by the rapidly solidifying universe was one of the land and skies themselves. The other gods seemed still to be considering their options. While Atris leaned towards having a beautiful doll house to live in and focus what little power remained in xir plastic body, xe was reluctant to be the first to choose. For now, xe watched what the other gods would do.

Seris smiled at the thought of a people, she didnt really have one before, these wpuld more than likely be fun and mischievous. At least she hoped. However they needed a leqder, and even creation itself knew this. Those around her had good decisions. One she agreed with, but for different reasons. She needed someone to be in charge, someone to give direction and keep them grounded to follow. Not someone they could use for their own means, but someone who would do what they think they must
Grasping the traits to instill into a leader, Seris chose Decisive.

The Reforging of a Realm
Nox hovered in the middle of the vortex, watching as more and more potentiality was sliding into actuality. Lost races becoming found, the meek becoming leaders, but what of the gods themselves?

And then Nox remembered his nature. What he really was. Sure, he was in msny ways undefined and unformed still in the wake of the Cataclysm. But at his core he was still a primordial being. And while he was similar to a god be wasn't connected so much to power focused on shrines and temples (although they certainly helped mind you) as he was to nature itself. And now, in the wake of the end having come and gone, he found he still had a deep primordial connection to things but not just with Darkness but with the land itself now. He was and is becoming something fundamental and primal. Like the witches had said, he was still being defined.

The stones would whisper to him.

Hills and Mountains would rise in his passing.

Valleys would emerge before him.

Plants and trees and flowers would bloom in his footsteps.

He found that, much to his surprise, he now had the power to control and influence the land itself. That he could Shape Earth.

Next step, there was potential for himself, and his control over the patch of realm he was given the rights to rule. Neru pondered the options fate had brought to him, and decided that he was fine with the chaos of existance deciding both the layout and weather conditions of his realm. But the possibility of enhancing himself while in his little patch of existance reminded him too much of his former empire to pass out. Being one step closer to making a fun realm was all Neru cared about, and adquiring a Divine Shrine that would empower him was his best shot at achieving that goal.

As she went from the choices of her people. Another part of creation came. The swirling vortex of energy and creation was starting to become quite real.

Seris saw yet another power to grasp, one that was as wild as she thought herself. Grasping at it, she would spend her focus and concentration on it. Control the Weather.

With this sole power, she could mark the changes of it's devouring across the world. For better or worse. The seasons fair or harsh, the weather cutting or gentle.

The storms could carve through land or deteriorate mountains slowly. It was one unseemly and unpredictable. One that could be used to aid in many ways as it could to do harm with a mistep.

Abethur became fixated on his new creations, scrutinizing them in every way imaginable. When he returned to the moment he wasn't sure how much time had passed nor did he care. The point was that he was satisfied with his choice, their potential. Now he turned his attention to other matters. He was allowed to select from them a leader and his first instinct was to make them resolute of mind, to make sure that they were capable of leading his future people well. Then he paused, an intrusive thought causing him to hesitate.

He remembered his first encounter with another being, the yellow-eyed godhunter that threatened to eat him. He had assumed everything to be as he had always known it to be and it nearly cost his life. Time and again he had walked into situations ignorant of the world around him. Because he had always cut himself off from the world. No he couldn't chose based on himself. Instead he would choose based on the most knowledgable being he had encountered since the Cataclysm: Neru.

Abethur selects Curious for his leader

With his choice made he watched as a realm took form beneath him, transmuting from the void of potential into reality. He watched with rapped amazement as the immaterial became the material, as formlessness gave way to the distinct. His heart yearned for more of this morphic power. His choice was made even before he rationally decided it would be.

The Reforging of a Realm
The realm was nearly complete, now its physical form was coming together. It was small! Oh heavens was it small! With so many peoples packed into its confines there were going to be trials upon trials ahead. But that was a future problem. For now, there was only the present and a final bit of will to work upon the world. Now though the gods felt the presence of their kin here, each nudging and pushing. Only one vision could come to fruition, it would be a matter of which vision gained the most support.

Deep Forest
A tangle of trees with a canopy so thick the sky is entirely obscured. Bursting with plants and animals, food would be less of a concern here than in many other locales, but the Deep Forest also came with a larger number of predators.

Jagged Crags
This would be a realm made up of a great mountain peak that fell away into nothingness. Food would be less readily available on these rugged slopes, but shelter in the form of caves and natural ridges would allow for easily formed communities which would be important as cold temperatures would be common on dark nights.

Windswept Archipelago
Flat islands and reefs surrounded by seas, this would be a realm of narrow land bridges connecting various tropical islands. Here travel would be far regulated and trade and travel routes more easily controlled. Violent storms would often roll across these lands with devastating effect.

Each god would voice their support for the formation that the lands would take, eventually the collective will of the gods would determine the final shape of this newly born realm.

The Reforging of a Realm
So small. So very, very small. But then, Atris' realm was not immense at the peak of existence. Where one might have looked at the space available and felt cramped, Atris saw it as intimate. The problem, of course, was squeezing five very different peoples into so small a space.

Both a forest and a mountain offered a level of verticality to the world that would make the most of their very limited space. Xe supposed the same could be said of the islands, but doubted that any of the gods (herself included) knew very much about underwater ecosystems or development, and given that deficiency none of them could afford to have so much of their realm-space taken up by uninhabitable ocean.

Considering the two plausible options, Atris found xirself leaning towards a forested realm. The craggy and desolate mountain realm reminded her too much of Illia and xe (unlike the other divines) was trying to put some distance between xirself and xir previous existence. The doll trilled at the prospect of a lush landscape teeming with life and experience, even if some of that life and those experience involved being eaten. Xe suspected Seris would feel the same way -- likely the only thing the two gods would ever agree on. And, like Seris, the predators could gradually be driven out over time if they proved too troublesome to deal with.

Yes, a Deep Forest seemed best.

This was new. So far, the options presented to him were diverse, but he had full control of the outcome within the limited rules of the universe. Now, an option was presented in the way of a voting. He hoped his fellow adventurers had his same thought of process, otherwise they could end with the very inconvenient archipelago or the mountain peek. Those options were vastly worse in Neru's opinion, as even if the forest had natural predators that could threaten them and their "subjects", the other options made living conditions too adverse to even consider.

Nox looked on as the vortex began to slowly solidify more and more. And he considered what sort of land  mass a dark primordial should give birth to. And he considered for a while, thoughtful and reflective. And he remembered that while he was old he was not alone. And while he sometimes was aloof and sometimes gregarious, he was not inimical to life.

He once had mortal and supernatural and even some divine followers of his own.

And he - when he was more complete and able to be Nyx as well as Nox - had several divine children too. He wondered if any of them survived the end. He suspected most gods probably were wiped out...at the very least, more then not.

And he began to experience a moment of nostalgia remembering the times he wasn't just dark but also inspired life.

And while he naturally would have chosen something bleak and dark like the crags he found himself wanting something that was not only shadowy, but also lush and vivacious. His new power to shape and influence the land and give forth new life combined with his dark themes, and he found himself choosing to make the land a Deep Forest.

Seris grinned with a fanged smile. She may be far from what she once was, even further from that she didn't have her own realm or full powers. Yet there was so much excitement boiling up in her blood as creation swirled around her and all the choices she picked. Mortals, grand new challenges, fractured reality, one she could pick at and choose to devour. A path to claw all the way back to the top with countless things to devour. New fears, new flavors, new scars, new everything. Even if it all did exist somewhere at once or even was similar to something else. The experience and adventure was new. Something ready to be given in to time and weather, to teeth and claw, blood and sweat.

A shared realm was far from ideal, yet it stirred her mind with thoughts and plans. Even more so, there were many things left to do. Choosing where it was they resided was important. Her people were gluttonous and agile, a place that benefited her and themselves the most was obvious. A place filled with food and foe. Deep Forest selected
