RP Realm: The Reforged Realm (Noctem)
Beneath a tangle of sycamore trees the Noctem meander through their new home. Tall, strong and lithe, this distinguished people with their smooth skin, piercing eyes and graceful movements possess an innate regality. If it weren't for their few numbers there would be no stopping them. Even so, they are a newborn race like all the others, they're beholding the world for the first time. As a blank slate they are open for molding and guiding, and that is just what their god is about to arrive to do.

OOC: Feel free to write your gods arrival to their new people! In your post you'll want to include at least two things. The first, letting the race know how they should regard you. The second, giving them guidance to how they should approach this strange new world they've found themselves in.

RP Realm: The Reforged Realm (Noctem)
As the Noctem arose into being and got their bearings, the Primordial Darkness watched them from afar. It seemed in the Reforged Realm, flickers of omniscience and divine power was still possible. It was different than what Nox had ever experienced before, but it was something anyway. And he watched from afar with mild interest at first, then increasing interest as time passed until finally he decided to make an appearance.

As the Noctem stood assembled in a large glade-like space in the primeval forest, they would notice suddenly a wooshing of the trees despite there being no strong breeze. The land itself seemed to take on a surreal quality. To become more real. Parts of it began to sparkle as bits of crystal and diamond began forming in specks of the soil and on the trees. It was obviously unnatural and magical.

I figure if Nox can raise a mountain in a matter of hours, that small-scale changes and effects could be instant or semi-instant.

"I've been watching you all from afar..." Nox's voice said from somewhere in the trees. It seemed like it came from several different directions though, as he was shadowstepping all around.

He then suddenly appeared in the shadow of one of the trees inside the open glade where the Noctem were assembled. He appeared in a puff and swirl of darkness that solidified into himself. He stepped out into the Sunlight, so that all could more clearly see him, walking toward his people.

As he walked, flowers and weeds and other small plants began to sprout and blossom in his wake, while the tree he appeared from went into bloom as well. The earth and plants responded to the wake of his passing, as he was now something of a mixture of a darkness primordial and a deity of the land.

"I am the Divine Nox, the Primordial Darkness. I am the first darkness of this realm, and was present and active at its creation. I also had a hand in creating the very land itself. The plants and soil and stones are all a part of domain, along with darkness and night. But I permit the sun as well, for the plants and earth needs its warmth to flourish." he said.

He then snapped clapped his hands, and next to him suddenly a stone pillar about 10 feet in diameter began to rise steadily out of the ground. It would rise up until it was about 15 feet in height. It had a small half-wall on it about the height of a man that caused the top half to be covered in shadow while the other half was in the sunlight. Nox walked into the shadow of the pillar and vanished, appearing on top of it and emerging into the light. He sat down on the edge of it, as flowers of various types began to bloom around the base of the pillar in real time. The whole thing took about 30 seconds to happen.

"I am also your sole creator. I chose you to be born, to exit and think and feel. There are other races here, and several other gods who walk this forest, but I am the only one who created you, whom I name THE NOCTEM. There are fewer of you than there are the other races, but in exchange I gave you all gifts that individually make you the superior race. While the other races each have their own particular strengths and weaknesses, The Noctem are strong, fast, intelligent, cunning, and resilient. I have given you an advantage over the other races in this manner." he said.

"But do not grow arrogantly or careless. I will not coddle you, and if you all prove to be too weak and disappointing even with all the blessings I've given you I will let you rot and die. I am not your friend and I am not your buddy. I am old and primal, and you will give me the respect due to me as your creator. And while you all have my favor, I will not spoonfeed you. You need to adapt. Grow. Learn. Reproduce when you can. Master yourselves and the environment, without growing so conceited you become blind to your own potential and your own limits. But while I warn you against arrogance, I also demand diligence and strength on your part as well. Do not bend knee to any other god or race than me. Have pride in your accomplishments and the wisdom to know pride from hubris. And let no other race be superior to you." he said firmly.

"And be nice to one another. Family and friends are important and to be cherished. And be nice to me...I won't hesitate to open up a sinkhole under you and swallow your villages if you raise my ire. But do well, and show strength and wisdom and perseverance and bring me honor with your actions and I will show you favor."

RP Realm: The Reforged Realm (Noctem)
In a grand display of divinity using the residual energies left over from the world creation, Nox made himself known to the newborn Noctem with a dramatic flair. The earth quaked at his approach and the land felt otherworldly and his voice seemed to echo all about them as he moved from shadow to shadow. The Noctem were held at rapt attention. There wasn't a sound as they listened to Nox's introduction and their place in the world was defined. So the Noctem came to learn their names and were told of their superiority, their chests swelled and they stood straighter as they were informed of their superiority. They had their place, it was just below Nox and above everyone else, so the teachings of their god went.

New Trait Acquired: Prideful Respect

"It makes sense." One of the Noctem said nodding his head in agreement. "The other peoples we've seen are sad scurrying things, they're can hardly tell the sound of one bird call from another, they're so weak it requires four of them to carry something one of us can easily lift, they're loud as they fumble about. Yes, what the Divine Nox says is so obvious now."

Nod nodded.

"While I have given many blessings to your people, there is a cosmic balance in all things. This means that in exchange for your love lives and many blessings, you will never be as numerous as the other races. I focused on quality over quantity when I created you." he said.

"This also means that while you should have pride in yourselves, that you should not be so arrogant as to think you are utterly perfect, or that good breeding will get you through every conflict by itself. You have to adapt. Be active Learners. challenge yourselves. Innovate. But also community, and the bonds of family, friendship, and religion are important. There is strength both in you as individuals and in you as a community. Hold yourselves and you lesser alike to high standards. If your lesser cross you, hold them accountable. If you yourselves err though, then apologize." he continued.

"You don't deserve to judge the failings of others if you also don't judge yourselves in turn."

Listening intently, the Noctem nodded along. The ideas were high minded and some notions would still be above the Noctem's understanding, for while they were naturally mentally quicker than the other races they were still newborns and still gaining an understanding of the greater world. But they were long lived, while the lessons might not make sense entirely now, the Noctem had more than enough time to ponder and consider these words.

"Heed my words, and heed them well. But grow and adapt and innovate though too. Sometimes, understanding only comes from putting theory into practice. Just make sure you judge yourselves as much as you judge everyone else. I'm judging people constantly, but I always am judging myself too."

Nox had decided that was enough teaching for now. He understood that academically they grasped what he meant, but practically they didn't get all of it yet. And that was fine - let them live and experience and ruminate and grow. He wouldn't coddle them any more than this though. He already did a lot for them, and decided to let them just grow on their own for a while.

"I now shall depart back into the darkness. But remember...I will be watching."

And with that, Nox's body dissolved into a puff of darkness as he dispelled this manifestation of himself and sent it back to the main Glade to reform.

RP Realm: The Reforged Realm (Noctem)
Some amount of subjective time passed, as was the way of the Reforged Realm. It was all the same to Nox and his more objective sense of time. But he decided it was time to once again show himself to his people.

During an assembly of the Noctem in their living area, a small spire of stone suddenly began to rise from the ground. About 4 feet wide and 7 feet high, rising in real time as the Noctem looked on. When it was done rising and forming, there was a flicker in the shadows behind it and out stepped Nox.

"Greetings my Noctem. I, Nox, have come with tidings and with a challenge." he said loudly, beckoning all assembled to listen.

He seemed a bit more real, a bit sturdier, than the last time he appeared to them. Their god was growing stronger over time.

"For my tidings, I have come to let you know that I have added new lands onto the eastern edge of the realm. However, the power I used to help facilitate this came from beyond here and us gods are still working to fully integrate these lands with the main forest. So while the power is my own and blessed by the gods, it still is not fully tamed yet. So know that while these lands hold new secrets, they also hold new perils too." he said.

"I invite any of you who wish to push past your own boundaries and limits to help me in exploring and conquering this new land. I - and the other gods here - will control it fully eventually, but your help would be valuable and would speed things up. Plus, it would please me to see how you all learn and grow from this new addition." he continued.

He walked over to a shadow of one of the Noctem, and vanished suddenly! Moments later, though, he appeared on top of the 7 foot spire of stone.

"Oh, and I also have a challenge for you all. I did tell you, early on after I made you, that while I would not coddle you that I would offer boons to those who pleased me most. So I challenge all of you. There is a white elk that can be found roaming the new grasslands that I have just added to the realm. If one of you catches it, then with my blessing you will be elevated into something truly heroic. However, after you catch this elk and cook it to eat it though, I demand that in return for this opportunity that whichever of you becomes a new hero show thanks and piety by taking a share of the meat and offering it up to me as a sacrifice in a religious ceremony. This will please me greatly, although should this ceremony not be done out of either forgetfulness or arrogance, then I will be displeased and will punish the new hero with the very earth itself. You have been warned - always give thanks when thanks is due."

That was about it.

"Oh, and another thing. This challenge is not exclusive to the Noctem. I will not stop the other gods' people from pursuing the white elk should they choose to do so. But I will be sorely disappointed if the Noctem do not rise to the occasion. It would bring great honor to me among the gods should one of you catch the white elk first. Do not let another race beat you to this, but use both power and wisdom in your hunt. I will be watching from the shadows, my Noctem. Good hunting!"

And with that, Nox vanished in a puff of darkness once again.

RP Realm: The Reforged Realm (Noctem)
During the twilight hours, one seemingly random day in the reforged realm, the shadows grew longer than usual. Grew thicker than usual. The earth itself trembled for a moment, before Nox speared in the midst of his people in a puffing swirl of darkness.

"My people...you have, so far, persevered as you work to grow and survive in the realm I made for you, with the bodies and souls I have granted you. And so I come bearing a gift. I do not offer gifts frequently, for I wish not to spoil you or coddle you. But as I told you before, when I first created you, that I would occasionally show you signs of my favor if you all remained steadfast and in my good grace." he declared loudly and boldly. It was like the earth itself shifted to allow his voice to carry further.

"And a boon I shall grant you. For I will share with you the secrets of plants of all different types and species. It is up to you to use the knowledge I give you to further grow into new insights. But I will give you a foundation as solid as the very earth that moves in the wake of my passing. Especially but not limited to lore about which plants are edible and nutritious and which are poison and doom. And you can use this knowledge I grant you to help with your study and development of agriculture." he said.

"And do not forget my earlier words from before: go and recruit the Patch people. With your firm leadership their indecisiveness can give way for the natural intuitiveness of their kind to finally shine through. Use them to help you and the Noctugami research and learn and grow, and in return let them enjoy safety and peace for the first time in their miserable existences. So that all three of your races can enjoy a bounty of food from the knowledge I give you today."

Nox begins teaching his people his plant skill (and edible plant specialty).
