Chapter 3: The Smith's Daughter

The path north of Fairhill runs along the Coldfell, a rocky, swift stream with its headwaters in the shadows of the Stoneheart Mountains, and darts in and out of woodland with numerous offshoot trails here or there. A few stray clouds drift lazily across the sky, but the weather is fair, warm, and not altogether unpleasant, despite Lannet's occasional protestations.

By midafternoon, the party veers off the main footpath and onto one of its western offshoots, toward wooded hills in the distance. Atop the hill, the party sees what appears to be a circle of stone plinths. This must be the Meloran shrine Shandril spoke of.

There is no easy trail up to the top of the hill. A rocky, scrabbly trail ascends the side of the steep hill, at times a steep staircase, others more akin to bouldering or even mountaineering. Indeed, the going proves to be quite difficult for Clatsi and Lannet, given their small statue. About halfway up, the going becomes quite slow and exhausting.

OOC: Can I get STR or DEX checks from all? Ullie, you may sub a climb walls check. Thanks!

Chapter 3: The Smith's Daughter

"Hey Clatsi -- need me to carry you?" Ullie needles.

Then more seriously: "Would a rope help?"

18:31, Today: Ullian Greyheart rolled 4 using 1d20.  Dex check (18).

I took the "may" substitute literally and went with dex check.

Why?  Because my dex check (90%) is slightly higher than my climb check, (86%).

"Why would anyone put a shrine somewhere that couldn't be reached?" Rigya grunted as she struggled up the path.

OOC: Rigya rolled 14 using 1d20.  Dex Check (12) Scrabble.

Chapter 3: The Smith's Daughter

Clatsi looked up the rocky, scrabbly hillside, shaking his head. He pointed out places on the trail that might be more trouble than others and replied to Ullie, "Rope might help there. And there. And there. I suppose I'd rather climb than be left behind."

He plodded up the trail with more luck than grace. It might have helped that gravity held such little hold on him.

07:25, Today: Clatsi Clatterstones rolled 5 using 1d20.  DEX check (07).
