Issue 1, Opening Scene
The skeleton of a high-rise, destined to become the latest blow in the gentrification of Lower Bricktown, looms stories taller than its neighbors. It's late, and all the workers have gone home, but tonight that doesn't mean it's empty. On the 27th floor, a circle of power has been drawn, and a ritual is underway to open the gates between worlds.

Clad in furs and leather, flanked by an alarmingly large pair of trolls with very large clubs, is Fenris, the latest in his line to bear the title. As he incants, the circle begins to glow with a cold light, and frost begins to form on the floor as he attempts, yet again, to end the world in ice.

[OOC: All right, this is the part where y'all show up to wreck his day. Everybody make your entrance, then we'll do the enter battle move!]

In reply to MC (msg # 1):

The rough streets rumbled beneath the wheels of a nondescript black van, bearing no markings and leaving no trace behind it. Inside, a man in a stiff uniform drives in complete silence while a youth sits on the single seat in the back. The rest of the vans' rear is filled with racks of seemingly medieval weaponry and equipage. Crossbows, axes, maces, and spears. Holy symbols wrought from silver, knives and  and racks of vials and bottles unmarked save for their strange contents within.

The young man runs his hand through a shock of dirty blonde hair, and rubs at shining blue eyes. He rubs at his sharp, not-quite chiseled features, handsome enough to be a movie star even at the age of sixteen. He is wrapped in a cloak of purest white, and a tunic of the same. They were emblazoned with the sigil of his house, the Sword-and-Crown, with Lions Rampant, in vivid red. Sturdy brown leather boots studded with steel plates.  Beneath these, he wore the gleaming, lightly blessed titanium plate and chain that kept him as safe as any modern body armor could.

His trustworthy sword and heavy shield lay near to hand, along with the pouch of other useful things he'd prepared on the way. Silver throwing knives for shapeshifters, vials of holy water for the undead, a Reliquary of St. George to ward off evil, a crossbow with a brace of blessed white oak bolts, just in case... Oh, and cold iron manacles, for the cleanup. It would have been heavy for other mortals... but not for him.

He shook his head, looking up at the passing street sign. Carter. This was his stop. His aunt's Yeoman nodded from the drivers seat. He would park close enough for escape, but far enough away for safety. As the van rolled to a stop, he nodded to the driver and grabbed his kit. "Ad Victoriam." The driver spoke, in a rumbling basso voice.

Squire simply smiled and saluted, pulling on his heavy gauntlets before hopping down out of the van.

The black vehicle rolled away and James the Squire, incipiant Knight of Avalon, gazed up at the building. He checked the cock of the crossbow, ensured his bag was well secured around his shoulder, then drew his shimmering blade. Silver and steel, his shield bearing the royal arms of Avalon, was firmly braced to his arm as he stood before the unfinished front doors of the building.

He grasped the handle of his blade in both hands and closed his eyes, pressing his forehead to the cruciform guard. "Ad maiorem dei gloriam." He murmured. Then he kicked in the door with a single heave of his leg, and strode in at speed to face the darkness within. They were above him, and he needed to move quickly.

28th floor, she casually paces out the distance across it to where she taking place, it wasn't her original plan to end up there but ended up climbing up one floor to many, but only one floor, no problem. She takes a moment to loosen up, stretch a bit, eyeball the floor some more and picking her spot to make a entrence. She's going to drop through the floor, smashing a hole, keeping and light at her back if possible and landing in a crouch amung the rubble and dust before rising up to her full height and rolling her shoulders. Her mask hides the gring, but there is no mistaking that posture, she's spoiling for a fight.

The moment Squire walks in, Longshot takes a picture of him with his phone, briefly illuminating the unfinished lobby with the blinding light of the flash.  "Hi Squire!" the smaller, skinnier teen chirps, studying the washed-out image on his screen.  "Boy, you got here fast.  You must have seen my tweet, huh?"

tfw weird stuff going down in bricktown.  late night high rise welding or spooky magic lightshow?  gonna check it out #longshot #onpatrol #longshotonpatrol

"I scouted it out before I came in," Longshot says, tucking his phone away in one of many pouches.  He's shorter than Squire, and thinner, with a home-made costume of dark navy blue, and a bow and quiver slung over his shoulder.  "I figure we could scale up the outside, maybe use one of the cranes out in the yard for height, swing over and come at them from above.  But then I thought, they build the elevators first in these places usually so maybe just use that?"  He points a thumb at the unenclosed elevator shaft.  Sure enough, he's already hit the call button.

"Oh, did you bring a crossbow?  It's just... I already have my bow, you know?  But that's cool, I guess.  You can use a bow too."

Where does one find the personification of the hungering void in a city full of heroes? A book store.

Andi was enjoying one of her more soothing hobbies, perusing the "new old books" section of the hole-in-the-wall nook of Raven's Run Books and Oddities, a staple in every theatre major's life despite being over a mile away from campus and cursed with terrible parking availability.

She had her earbuds in, phone tucked away in her bag as she juggled an original edition of "A Treatise of Mythical Manifestation in the Classics" open in one hand and her travel mug of strong-brewed tea in the other.

A notification interrupted her music, pulling her away from reading from the book on how arcane traditions were carried through theatre through the centuries. She closed the book with a sigh, setting it back on the shelf. She couldn't afford it anyway, and if she didn't stop then she'd just read the whole thing standing there... and that's rude.

Hand freed she fished her phone out of her bag, thumbing through the lock screen. Tweet notifications... "Pshh... he's going to get himself killed. Oh well, time to work."

She tucked her phone away, pulling her earbuds and holding them in her hand "Hey Sam! Sam! Hey, I'm headed out, thanks for the book tips!"

She made her way out into the night, headed for the spot on Carter.

---

Nevermore ducked back from the corner as the van pulled up in front of the skeletal construction site and deposited one Squire, ready for business. "So serious~" She mumbled to herself, voice a whisper on the wind as the void rippled through her.

Dark as the shadows themselves she came back around the corner to follow him in, mentally rolling her eyes as the young man kicked in the door without even trying it for a lock. She breezed in through the door behind him, just barely missing being caught in Longshot's photo.

"Can we get on with this? This is work, not some playtime game." Nevermore turned smoldering coal eyes on Longshot, doing her level best to stare straight through the enthusiast.

"I suppose the other two will turn up, just like last time. Squire, I do not like the idea of the elevator. They make... noise."

"I am exactly on time, Blackbird." It seems Nevermore speaks sooth, because a compactly built figure - dressed in a combination of leather biking jacket, white t-shirt, and spandex bodysuit - is perched on top of a pile of sheet rock, having presumably gotten in via one of the missing walls. There's a pair of polarized sports glasses covering most of his face, and a pair of massive headphones hanging around his neck.

He jumps down, landing with far more grace than you might expect from his build - but then, the spandex over his legs make it *quite* clear that much of that bulk is muscle - and heads for the elevator bank, getting a hold of Longshot as he does. "I'm betting the bulldozer is already upstairs, so me'n Robin Hood are heading up. You and Prince Charming can come, or you can keep complaining until you're frozen in place. Ciao!"

One slightly awkward elevator ride later...

The doors slide open to reveal a large open space, open to the outside - they're only up to about the 15th floor or so with the glass, and the interior layouts are probably still being argued about in some architect's office somewhere.

One of the trolls sees the heroes piling out and furrows his brow with thought before turning to say something in a guttural language none of you recognize to the chanting wolf. Snarling, Fenris breaks off his chant and turns to face the heroes. "Hah, children! It took the Knight of Avalon to stop my father, and I'm already more powerful than he ever was! Come on, then, and be the first to taste the cold of Fimbulwinter!"

Olympia, between openings for vents and such and your own enhancements, you can hear this pretty clearly. Sounds like the rest of the gang's here, and you're pretty sure one of those big things you've heard moving around is right beneath you. What do you do?

[OOC: Giving Olympia the first action here because crashing through the ceiling at this point seems awesome to me.]

Longshot stands towards the front of the elevator (he's the smallest, and wants to be able to see what's going on when they get up there).  He casually sorts through a couple arrows, humming to himself and bouncing slightly on the balls of his feet.  The elevator moves a lot slower than he'd expected.

"Fifth floor!" he announces cheerfully when at last the car stops on the 27th.  "Hardware, sporting goods... and whatever the hell that guy is."

Olympia is going to take this opportunity to make her crash down through the ceiling, an crash down onto the top of the guy below her if she can. once down she will have to take better stock of the situation, but first, the troll.
