Anything can go here: From the answer to life, the universe and everything; over the average distance between Abeir-Toril to the sun; to the definition of a THAC0.

While pondering these question, please, have a drink ... it's on the house.

Is the maximum HP every level or only the first?
Also are we use only base player's handbook or are other handbooks going to be implemented as well?
Examples being "The Complete Thief's Handbook" or "Tome of Magic".

In reply to nomen nescio II (msg # 2):

The maximum HP roll can be used at every level.

As for the additional books, I'm certainly not up-to-date with every rule ever written about ADnD 2nd edition. If I'm able to find the rules that you'd like to apply, I don't see any issue with using it. So, if you for example use rule X from source Y and you state that clearly, I have no problem with that.

Usually I tend to use Purpleworm rules in my own campaign, with some restrictions with "Player's Options" because those options in my opinion can have some good effects but also tedious ones, like critical effects and new spells.
Otherwise things such as point buy for races and whatnot makes it too similar to later editions, such as 3.5e or even Pathfinder.

Give it a look, it has some interesting stuff in it, on top of a Monstrous Manual, filled with all the stats for the various monsters.

http://www.purpleworm.org/rules/

Edit: re-rolling my first ability roll, didn't show each die and I had forgotten to drop lowest

Edit-Edit: Also, I do not have permission to change my sheet!

ooh, what a nice resource. I have the three main books in hardcopy, but these don't tend to have CTRL-F features :)

Character sheets should have been made: player-editable

Ah, it is good to breath the air as a player again roaming a campaign :)  I should be able to get Nomen Nesco III built out this weekend.

I will also take a look at the purple worm (but not too close lol).

Is there any thought to character classes needed desired for this and any specific races or is it the bring in a character and see how it goes fun :)

I like to keep things more simple and core 2nd edition but I agree, if there is a 2nd edition resource book you can reference and or other references that you like to implement and the DM agrees whoo hoo go for it.

The Player Options series tends to complicate things a bit, but the "complete books" ones add perks and kits that only add to the game in my opinion.

How do we handle spell learning for mages?
Also are we using optional proficiency rules where the maximum number of languages is turned into extra proficiency slots?

For magic users, I'd like to follow the PHB.

A wizard has his/her spellbook in which the spells he/she knows are written down. When you left your master/tutor, off course you took this spellbook. If you find scrolls or (with gaining a level) you learn a new spell, Table 4 is used (Chance to learn Spell) to see whether you are able to write the spell down in your spellbook.

Spell components are not used.

quote:
If your DM allows nonweapon proficiencies, the character's Intelligence score can modify the number of slots he has, granting him more proficiencies (see Table 4).
, is allowed.

Yeah but how many spells do we get at level 1?

The PHB says
quote:
The one good thing that comes from your character's studies is his initial spell book. It may have been a gift from his school or he may have stolen it from his hated master. Whatever the case, your character begins play with a spell book containing up to a few 1st-level spells. Your DM will tell you the exact number of spells and which spells they are. As your character adventures, he will have the opportunity to add more spells to his collection.

Two spells every wizard needs to know: read magic and detect magic. These two are for sure in your spell book.

Next, you can roll 2d4 which determines the number of 1st-level spells you could have (not including read magic and detect magic). From this list of spells, you can choose 2 spells that are for sure in your spellbook. For each of the remaining (2d4 - 2) spells on the list, you roll 1d100 against your "Chance to Learn Spell". With success, it goes in your spell book. With failure, you will not be able to learn that spell again until your character goes up a level.

Does that sound fair to you ?

@Elevan: I went through your character sheet and it seems ok to me. Although I've never heard of the Housebreaker harness, I sounds cool. Nice find !

@Rhanis: I went through your description and it also seems ok to me. I took the liberty of copying your description details into the character sheet.

Don't worry, I guess we will all be in that position at some point in time.

When your character is ready, we get this party on the move !
