Introduction (Read First)

To fight giants, you must be giant

Giants have emerged from their strongholds to threaten civilization as never before. Hill giants are stealing all the grain and livestock they can, while stone giants have been scouring settlements that have been around forever. Fire giants are press-ganging the small folk into the desert, while frost giant longships have been pillaging along the Sword Coast. Even the elusive cloud giants have been witnessed, their wondrous floating cities appearing above Waterdeep and Baldur’s Gate. Where is the storm giant King Hekaton, who is tasked with keeping order among the giants?

The humans, dwarves, elves, and other small folk of the Sword Coast will be crushed underfoot by the onslaught of these giant foes. The only chance at survival is for the small folk to work together to investigate this invasion and harness the power of rune magic, the giants’ weapon against their ancient enemies, the dragons. The only way the people of Faerun can restore order is to use the giants’ own power against them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a published HC module for DnD 5e set in the Forgotten Realms. Some things you can expect from this adventure:

-Giants
-Treasure (lots)
-A Very Big Map (tm) with semi-openworld exploration
-Boss Fights
-Cool Rune Shit

As I DM I enjoy good RP and quirky characters but have gotten rather jaded of long backstories and three paragraph speeches every other post. So while there will be opportunities to interact with NPCs and party members and the like, take note that I can and will push things forward if things seem to be slowing down.

Familiarity with the Faerun setting is helpful but not required. But do indicate your degree of knowledge about the setting in your application - I will endeavor to explain things more if more players are not familiar. Being unfamiliar will not hurt your RTJ, but not indicating your degree of familiarity would suggest that you don't actually read through my walls of text.

I aim to have a posting schedule of at least 1 post a day as follows (GMT +8 timezone):

Monday - 2200pm (GMT +8)
Tuesday - 2200pm (GMT +8)
Wednesday - break
Thursday - 2200pm (GMT +8)
Friday - break
Saturday - 2200pm (GMT +8)
Sunday - 2100pm (GMT +8)

These are the timings I am most likely to be online and actively posting. Ideally, we will be able to coordinate timings so everyone is online and posting within a few minutes of each other. Otherwise, these are the timings you can expect a response by.

Schedule under revision. To-be-updated.

Introduction (Read First)

Hello to those I've added!

There were a few applications that pretty much clicked with me immediately, and after some additional thought I've decided to add you folks first. I'm still ruminating on the last two slots, and maybe a waitlist (though I hope it never comes up), but for now welcome to game!

You should see some additional threads and information pop up. Feel free to PM me to work out further details about your character, or just say hi to each other in the OOC.

Final decisions for the last two slots should be within the next 2-3 days.

To everyone else who applied, thank you for your attention, I'm really sorry to have to turn away so many good applications :<

Still, all the best and Happy New Year!

Introduction (Read First)

Our party of five four five four and now hopefully five has accomplished quite a few things since the start:

1) Rescued the villagers of Nightstone from a goblin warren
2) Recovered the corpse of their would-be employer, Veradda Stoor, and are in the midst of transporting it to Yartar for revival
3) Chased off potential Zhentarim influence from Nightstone
4) Fought off a night ambush from a shapeshifting Oni
5) Arranged a  highly unorthodox, long-term contract with the church of Waukeen and House Nandar to rebuild Nightstone and resurrect its people
6) Explored the streets of Waterdeep and got a job with SEER, a Diviner under the Lord's Alliance investigating Giants
7) Fought off various attacks from: werewolves, barbarians, kobolds and a hill giant as they traveled down the Long Road

Ripples of increasing giant activity are being felt all over the Sword Coast. SEER, of the Lord's Alliance, has commissioned the party to investigate rumours and report back as they travel to Yartar. What is the Ordning? Why are the giants suddenly so active? Is the Storm King truly dead?

As the party seeks to answer these questions (and hopefully get paid in the process), the lands around the Sword Coast grow evermore chaotic...

Introduction (Read First)

I should have replied to everyone who sent an RTJ so far.

Oh gods there are so many help

Some really good initial applications, so I'm afraid I need to move to Round 2, with a second set of questions. Again, the final decision will be on the 10th April, no earlier. If you have not sent the application yet, feel free to do so. Just be prepared to respond quickly.

For those that did not make it, thank you for your interest. If I had the attention span and ability to run for everyone, I would. But such are the realities of life :<

Take care everyone!

Hello! Welcome to the game. For a brief overview of things that have happened, check out the Game Timeline thread.

The party is currently in Yartar for some downtime + R&R, though there seem to be tensions stirring in the underworld beneath.
