Security Room

Happening about an hour later from the mess hall conversation, Corlene is sitting at a makeshift desk in her bunk room. Well it wasn't just her's as three other doors in the room had their own placards with each of the security teams' name on them.

This "office" was plainly decorated with a computer terminal displaying various tactical readouts of the ship. Checking the chronometer on her data pad, she sighs wondering if Socket is going to show up on his own or if she's going to have to hunt him down.

Etheron would enjoy that.

Not having received a Work Order to report to the Security Room, Socket continued with his personal work deeming it more important than the strange request from the female in the mess hall.  He was buried in work when the hour long mark came and past.

As Socket works on his drone a dark shadow drops over him. Looking up, he meets the flat expression of Etheron. "Corlene requests your presence," he says with little to no emotion in his Akitonian accent. "Would you like a escort or maybe an advocate?"

“Wow.  Some women just don’t give up.  An advocate would be great. Let her down easy for me.  Tell her she has great taste, but I could never give her the amount of time she deserves.  I’ve got my hands full with family as is.  Another woman right now just isn’t in the cards.  Thanks.”  Socket went back to work.

Etheron is still for a moment before giving Socket a slow laugh. "Anyone wishing to bed Corlene is in for a big surprise. She only wishes to talk, so you coming willingly? She's asking nicely."

The ysoki raised and eyebrow.  "That's a good one.  The last woman who 'wanted to talk' pulled a gun on me.  So forgive me if the people on this ship haven't earned much credit."  He finished an arc weld and put the tool down.

"Tell you what.  You get Sol..thris, Solsarsis, Sol something to be there too, he's been reasonable, and I'll go 'talk' to this Corlene."

The ysoki shrugged.  This towering brooding figure must be using that telepathy stuff again to summon Solsantharis.  Since Etheron had already agree to Socket's demand for the meeting and not produced the advocate yet, he went back to work.

Socket tossed the welder down and put his hands on his hips.  "You are not very good at this are you.  If you want to make an appointment, you set a time and agree on it.  You don't make immediate demands.  I have important work to do and you are INTERRUPTING.  When we agree to have a third party present, you make sure they can make it BEFORE dragging me away from my work.  Why haven't you contacted him already?!?  Because you are the brawn and not paid to think."  Socket answered the question he had posed himself.  If he had waited this was likely to take forever.

He then held up a hand to stall any further conversation.  "No, don't apologize.  You already ruined my train of thought.  Let's get this over with before the ship falls apart because you have your priorities all screwed up.  Lead on since I have no idea where to go and make that call as we walk."  Socket tapped a few keys and flipped a switch to power down his project before leaving.

If Socket's outburst bothered him, it didn't show on his face. He simply makes a com call to Solsantharis to have his meet them at what served as the security office for the ship. Once Socket is deposited there, Etheron only states who they are waiting on then leaves without further comment.

"Thank you Etheron. While we wait," Corlene says pleasantly enough, "would you like something to drink? I hope this will be quick as I'm sure you have things to do. This isn't a trial, though you are still entitled to a third party witness for your protection of course. I'm not sure how much of lashuntan law to may be aware of, but I assure you that it's standard practice. Please have a seat and you can wave your right to a witness or advocate at any time."

Having acknowledged the request, Sol finished up what he was doing and then headed for the Security Office.

He entered just as Corlene finished up her words to Socket.

"Okay, here I am. What's this all about?" he asked.

"Are you trying to recruit Socket into your security team? While I have no doubt of Socket's abilities in the repair department, I sincerely doubt if he's a good candidate for enforcement."

"I also would be very annoyed if you just wanted to make him a red shirt."

Everyone knew that people wearing red made good targets, which was one of the rationales for putting security in red shirts--let security draw the enemy's fire so that everyone else could run away.

He did nod agreement to the redshirt comment.  "Reds not my color."

Security Room

Once Solsantharis arrives, Corlene is all business as she scoops up a data pad, her earlier welcoming stance changing, "The reason I called you here today is to discuss your background and to address your nature on this ship."

Tapping a few commands on the pad, she sighs in frustration, "Do you have any idea how many Sockets there are in the data base, not to mention how many Ysoki that go by the same name? There's just too many to go through and no way to narrow down who you actually are."

Her antenna twitch in frustration, "Now the Captain has deemed you worthy to serve on his ship, but I wouldn't be a good security officer if I didn't log my displeasure at the obvious fact that you were not initially cleared to be aboard, nor have you gone through a thorough vetting."

Clearing her throat as some of her frustration has been expelled she continues, "It would show a measure of your trustworthiness if you would voluntarily offer up your birth name and other identifying markers so that you can be vetted as soon as we enter normal space. So you know, there is no penalty for you not to do so, except my formal log, and I hope you will willing give up such information."

"As to your placement on this ship, that is not for me to decide. All you have to do is put in a formal request for placement and, given the Captain's leave, you'll be placed there. Given what I hear, you'd be a nice fit in engineering."

"Now," she gives Socket the data pad she had in her hands, "you can either put in your information or decline, the choice is yours." The data pad has two places to tap one to accept and one to decline.

Socket stared at Corlene for a while, his mouth slightly open as he processed what he had just heard.  He turned to Solsantharis and said, "Seriously?"

He then reached out and grabbed the data pad.  "Ok, let's get this over with."  He selected accept and started to quickly fill out the form.

Name: Bartholamew Johanas Rodriguez Laquettes Ivan Abhimaynu Dances with Wolves the 47th
Race: Ysoki... duh
Age: I like my wine well aged.
Sex: Only on weekends
Identifying Marks: Holographic tattoo of the Lashunta City State council leader Domash in very casual wear on my right butt cheek.

He then locked the data pad.  Smiled and handed it back and turned to leave before she could read it.

Just then Hallista walks into the small room. Her hair has a wet look to it as little droplets land on her shoulders and down onto the white fabric that is doing nothing to hide her features.

Looking at Solsantharis with an almost predatory look ass she quite noticably looks him up and down, unashamed. Walking behind Corlene she asks, "What did he write?" To which Corlene gives her the tablet.

She reads it for a moment and then laughs out loud with a joy that's contagious. "You've got to give the rat man credit. This is funny."

"Fine," she says with a snort. "You really should learn to live a little Corlene. Sex is nothing to be scared of. It is a gift that Arshea has given us, you should try it sometime. Might get that pole out of your butt."

She laughs as she dances away from Corlene as the other woman growls at her. "Anyway my doors always open for anyone who wants to have a little fun." She looks directly at Solsantharis when she says this and then retreats to get room, stealing another look at the male as she does so.

"No, I have nothing else to add," Sol replies, "other than to thank you for protecting us from ourselves."

"You were quite correct in realizing that Socket hadn't been properly vetted... though maybe he was if he was working on this ship before it left."

"I take people at face value. That's not to say I believe everything they say. It's also often how they say it, when they say it, why they say it, and sometimes even what they say--the specific wording."

"In my case, I take all that into consideration on a more or less subconscious level as it's all part of my training."

"It doesn't mean I'm infallible, though. So, double-checking Socket was definitely called for."

"I admit, though, that I kind of like the little guy, so I'm glad he's okay... even if he isn't all that sociable."

For a moment, as he left, he considered Hallista's offer and interest. Perhaps now wasn't the time, but he might take her up on that at some point--that two-tone hair color was rather appealing.

"Thank you for your assistance," Corlene says as Solsantharis goes to leave. Looking at the pad, she uploads the provided information to Socket's file and then begins to type out her report to the captain.
