Ha-ha! Thanks--I needed that laugh, Sabin. Was feeling a bit depressed after posting my update over and over again.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

Can't sleep, can't focus to post... turn. More of the same. Turn. Repeat.

STAGE MINUS ONE--SPINAL SURGERY: Hell, I don't even remember half of it. This would have been the spinal surgery to remove the tumor and put me on my back for two weeks. DONE. SUCCESS!

STAGE ZERO--REHAB ERROR: Weeks at rehab facility where inadequate and improper nursing care turned an ordinary bedsore into a far more serious gangrene wound... one that now needed surgery to fix. DONE? WAS THAT A SUCCESS OR FAILURE?

STAGE ONE--BACKSIDE SURGERY: Operation on my tailbone went off without a hitch apparently. Just left with a major wound on my tailbone. Couldn't/can't put pressure on the wound while it heals, thus laying on my side and having to get turned to the other side every two hours, necessitating having to learn to type on my laptop upside down and sideways with one finger. Remember, this is at the BETTER recovery/rehab facility rather than at home, so options are still limited. Did I mention the I-V dangling from my arm that also gets in the way? DONE. SUCCESS.

STAGE TWO--STAPLES/SUTURES REMOVAL: Staples and stitches still need to come out. Don't have a timeline for that yet but presumably soon.
___STAGE 2.1: First half of the staples were taken out Tuesday. On schedule, standard routine. DONE. SUCCESS.
___STAGE 2.2: Second half of staples were removed Friday. Again, right on schedule with no complications. DONE. SUCCESS.
___STAGE 2.3: Sutures are currently supposed to come out on Monday, though that probably depends on how the final healing has progressed, since not everyone will heal the same way. PENDING.

STAGE THREE--WOUND REHAB: sitting protocols start as soon as sutures come out (?). Start getting used to sitting up  again... in 15-minute intervals. No details yet on frequency or duration. Will kind of depend on how well I do, but further complicated by not  having any control of my leg muscles. Requires moving to a normal bed rather than this deluxe air bubbling mattress that's meant to stimulate skin/muscle do I don't get more bedsores.

STAGE FOUR--HOME REHAB: As soon as I can stand up on my own two legs, I should be able to go home for final rehab. Regain mobility. At this point, there's no telling how well the wound rehab and the paralysis rehab will work together. The therapist seemed to think they could make them work together in synergy, but I didn't get a whole lot of enthusiasm from him. I suppose it could be uncharted territory for him.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE: I now qualify for Frequent Surgery Miles. I've had four surgeries so the fifth one is free! Oddly, I started with the Big One (double bypass heart surgery 15 years ago) and that went easier than these.

Still not sure if there's a light at  the end of the tunnel yet--if there is, hope it's the Battery Low indicator and not the Westbound #9 train!

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

So what are you getting for your free one? I don't recommend sinoplasty. My boogers freeze in my skull and the ice stabs my brain, it isn't all the time so I guess I'll take the enhanced(normal?) breathing.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

Looking over my options now. May just have to wait until I screw up really bad and have to get my foot surgically extracted from my mouth.

Apparently it doesn't apply to hair transplants, though.

And while they can work miracles with plastic surgery (when the hell did I get plastic?), not even they can make me look like Chris Hemsworth.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

Over here its cheaper to fly two weeks for a vacation to Turkye and return with a full head of hair then go to a local clinic so i can suggest a nice vacation instead.

And for the latter you got filters so who needs surgery if you can just never meet in person ;-)

What about grafting on extra limbs? That could be handy.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

Thank you StarMaster for updating us. It really does sound like you're on the mend, although still in the middle of your journey to recovery. Please take all the time you need...this is way more important than RPOL is right now!

Also to everyone I will be unavailable most likely from the 12th until possibly the 18thth or even 20th as I'm flying out of the country at the end of the week for my first vacation in about 7 years.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

"Wow", indeed. I almost feel like it's happening to someone else. Kind of happened so fast it's left me emotionally numb. How should I be taking it?

I suppose I could just chalk it up to my laid back 'keep on truckin' attitude picked up from living in San Diego for 10 years.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

"Keep on trucking" is sometimes the only way to handle things like this. Lest you fall to pieces over it, which is silly for someone with as much gumption as you.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

___STAGE 2.3: Sutures came out on Monday right on schedule, but the final healing is still in progress for several weeks/months. DONE. SUCCESS.

STAGE THREE--WOUND REHAB: sitting up for continued wound rehab protocols start as soon as sutures came out, about a week ago now. Start getting used to sitting up  again... in 15-minute intervals twice a day. Moved to a standard air mattress bed. Frequency and duration will kind of depend on how well I do, but further complicated by not having any control over my leg muscles and not enough feeling below the waist. Communication/responsibility issue has only produced one session--should have been six by now! PENDING???

___STAGE 3.5--RESUME PREVIOUS REHAB: In a week or two or three depending on how quickly I improve here, I get transferred to yet another Rehab facility for continued wound recovery... takes a long time... as well as mobility rehab.

___Stage 3.7--TRANSFER TO NEW REHAB: So the Wound Recovery has done well enough that I'm getting transferred to a different rehab facility for the Sitting/Mobility rehab. Don't know why there's a difference other than where I'm at is more medical than therapeutic so they need to make room for a new patient.

THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL: Different tunnel, different light. I suppose it's a step in the right direction, but we'll have to see how it goes.

Good luck on your rehab. I wish the best for you! As someone who's been in physical rehab multiple times, I know how big of a task it is to be in rehab of any type.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

Alright, so life took a crap on me again just as I was starting to get my creativity back. Needless to say a few weeks ago my oldest daughter Ava was arrested for a class 3 felony. Now while this might not be a massive issue, it'd still be normally stressful one for any family. But for someone like me who suffers from mental illness, or the darkness, take your pick on the term and whose children were the light in the darkness that they cling to when that darkness started to encroach upon them her getting arrested was a massive blow to me mentally.

So for the last few weeks I basically closed in on myself and had little contact with anyone. Barely spoke to anyone, barely ate, and just went to work and bed. Work life suffered, life here suffered, home life suffered, everything just started to fall apart. Then I suddenly woke up this past Saturday and decided it was time to fix my mental state, at least a bit. Suddenly had a good, or better day at work at least. That set me up to want to play some video games again, so yeah I wasted away my weekend playing video games lol, which led me to having a great day at work today, and finally put me to wanting to post again starting today.

So I am slowly starting to get caught up in my games.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

Welcome to the club! Though mine is physical, progress is slow.

I've got about 50 days of rehab here before I have to start paying for it. Should be enough...

Sorry to hear about your problems, Phelar, but glad you've turned the corner and are feeling better. If it wasn't for RPoL, I'd have gone crazy by now!

Now, I just need to turn my corner and get this game going again. I was having fun with it--hope everyone else was, too.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

I really hate this game so i keep sticking around to suffer ;-)

Sorry to hear the Phelar. Having lived the darkness i can only say yay for you to finding your own light. Even gaming a whole weekend is great if it recharges those bateries.

I tried reading what a class 3 felony is but at the end of the article i still don't know it its the least or most severe version.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

I enjoy the game very much Star. It's why I keep coming back after I suffer. :)

Revonoss I live in Indiana so here is an article that describes it's felony classing system: https://www.criminaldefenselaw...ana-felony-class.htm

She is going to court on the 21st for a level 3, which is pretty close to the worst. Level 1 is the worst, and level 6 is the least bad felony. So I guess you could say her's is mid-high?

Everyone has their own light in the darkness, it's just finding it.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

In reply to Revonoss (msg # 429):

On my personal list it is worse than murder because it messes up kids and their families, likely for life, while murder messes up just the families with little generational cascade.

Trafficking folks is mostly generational cascade so it effects more potential folks (I guess stopping potential births could be argued as generational cascade but we can't go assuming everyone wanted to have kids just because they are dead).

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

StarMaster passed on last night... I'm a bit shocked and was moreso learning from another game that he was over 70 years old and long suffered in the conflict of cancer.

More than 20 games are now missing him... I think I was only in 4 but I'll certainly miss him too.

Re: Rec Room (OOCs)

Holy crap! Oh my God! I can't believe he died! Thought the guys would keep living on and on...and who knows maybe become an RPOL Lich or something and keep on going!

I have been gaming with him for years now, but had no idea he was over 70! That explains why the guy was so calm and so zen-like in his writing and in how he interacted with us. I also applaud the guy because for a 70 year old, the dude was very open-minded with the character concepts he allowed in his game.

Like in another game of his I'm in, I basically worked with another player and created a Lesbian Red Riding Hood who paired up with the PC Lesbian big-bad-wolf, and the short story is the wolf decided not to eat Riding Hood After all and instead they shacked up! She is a special "natural witch" and the other player was a Skinwalker (Witchwolf suntype) Witchguard Ranger. And they basically are both chaotic good and go on Xena and Gabrielle style adventures together. And Starmaster really enjoyed the concept!

Well God bless Starmaster. I knew he had many health issues but didn't know the cancer and stuff was quite lethally bad. The dude loved his games on RPOL and tended to them like one tends a garden. He and his family have my prayers, and also all the many players he's positively impacted on here too!
