Re: OOC
For what it's worth, here's a short character bio I created for Dale based on the character creation process. I imagine it would all be in his Starfleet personnel record.

Christopher was a Starfleet brat, whose parents spent most of his childhood on Vulcan. His father is a diplomat and his mother a computer scientist.  While he'd never claim or aspire to Vulcan levels of emotional suppression, he did adopt a strong respect for discipline and logical thought.  He also inherited more than a little of his mother's scientific talent.

He barely had a second thought about joining Starfleet, and naturally gravitated towards the Science division. While he had learned much of the universe from a theoretical perspective, he found himself strongly driven to see and experience for himself, and he focused on fields critical to a starship crew.  His notable weakness was a lack of strong leadership drive, but he worked hard to develop the minimal skills Starfleet required and his strong and varied scientific aptitudes more than made up for that deficiency, especially for someone who wasn't pursuing the command track. Instead he developed an appreciation for teamwork and the strength of the group.

His immediate and distant family connections prevented him from being sidelined to a planetary or Starbase assignment and he's served two tours on starships. While on the USS Exeter, he played a key role during first contact with a race of metamorphs who freely transferred personalities between themselves as easily as they reshaped their bodies, and received a commendation for his performance.  During his second assignment, the research ship USS Copernicus was redirected to a frontier colony planet that was being ravaged by a completely unknown and viciously infectious plague. With limited medical staff available (the Copernicus was fitted and staffed for stellar observation), and the nearest appropriate medical vessel almost two weeks away, Decker stepped up and organized the ship's available staff to combat and ultimately defeat the disease before it could consume the colony.

Newly promoted  Lieutenant Commander Decker finds his new posting as the Chief Science Officer to a front-line starship to be more than a little intimidating. He's developed a real love for deep space exploration, but also an awareness of just how dangerous it can be. He's not a particularly brave man nor a leader of sentient beings, but his talents and a bit of luck have put him front and center  (well, a bit off to the right of the command chair) on one of Starfleet's most capable vessels and he hopes he's up to the task.

Re: OOC
This came to mind:

[Preparing to confront Gozer]
Dr. Peter Venkman: Well, whatever it is, it's gotta get by us!
Dr. Raymond Stantz: Right!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Go get her, Ray!
[Ray glares at him]
Dr. Raymond Stantz: Gozer the Gozerian? Good evening. As a duly-designated representative of the City, County and State of New York, I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the next convenient parallel dimension.
Dr. Peter Venkman: That oughta do it, thanks very much Ray.
Gozer: Are you a god?
[Ray looks at the others, who all nod] Dr. Raymond Stantz: [hesitant] Uh...no.
Gozer: Then...DIEEE!!
[Gozer begins shocking the Ghostbusters with lighting]
Winston Zeddmore: Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES!!"

Hey, just so I can abuse the system for all it's worth make the most of my abilities, what (either exactly, or more or less) am I rolling for?

Also, I don't care what Decker's family history says, I'm not merging with this thing to show it the way to its Creator.

Re: OOC
By the way, I just finished binging Star Trek: Lower Decks today and found it very entertaining. Don't think of it as a standard Star Trek series, but rather as a sitcom set in the Star Trek universe (more or less). The humor won't be for everyone, I'm sure, but I dug it. And there are tons of references and call backs spanning the entire franchise (including the Original and Animated series).

Re: OOC
I'm trying to decide how to bring in our two new players.  Whether to fit them into the current adventure, or shorten the current one to expedite their arrival.

Thoughts?

Re: OOC
Well, given the buildup I hope we don't shorten it too much. Or, at least, I'd like a satisfying ending.

If you can bring in new people without too much trouble, that's fine by me. I also understand not wanting to make them wait long, though, and we could use the additions.

Re: OOC
Got to admit, I'm partial to completing the current adventure myself.  I know we had to "abridge" the last mission due to player drop out and adding new players already.

Working on it.  Sorry for the delay, I've been trying to figure out how to proceed on this matter. :)

That's a good idea, if the ST feels he can make that work into the scenario.

My last full shift for the week today... should be updating the game tonight or tomorrow (more likely tomorrow... been fried after work this week).  In the next post I plan to bring in the new characters and we'll be advancing things a bit more than a jaunt down the corridor. ;)

Cool. FWIW, I've been waiting for the result of the roll you asked me to make. Unless we're skipping ahead, which is fine. ;)

Re: OOC
The roll was to get a fix on the signal, keep it, track the other Fed signals. I put the results in my last post...

Starfleet Command:
Decker, meanwhile, was able to narrow down the direction and bearing of the signal.  It's localized source, or at least a repeater station from which it was bouncing.  The artifact was roughly the size of Earth, after all.  Perhaps not coincidentally, it lay in the same direction as the next Federation tech signal.

Hello, all!

I'm one of the new players. Met your lovely DM while playing a different ST game with them, but that game unfortunately died out. Happy to be aboard.

I'm currently backreading your current thread, and then will get my first post in today.
