Re: OOC

Love to if I could.  Working 2 weeks straight with no days off because I'm stupid and am actually honoring the 2-week notice I gave my old job... ugh!

I will find time to update the game in there somewhere, I swear.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

So, as I gear up to restart here... besides Mcreeg and ch'Pertha... who's still with me?

Re: OOC

OK, here's what I'd like to do.

We've lost the Doc, and something not discussed at the conference (yet) is that the people on the planet need rescuing, potentially.  If things go badly in the alien sphere, there won't be enough time to warp over and save them, and the Prime Directive (while flexible) specifies that you have to at least get their permission before rescuing them in this manner.

Do people want to split into two teams?  Or have one team handle the sphere (PCs) whilst NPCs deal with the planet?  Or... something else?

what's the saying..it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission?

Re: OOC

ch'Pertha is probably capable, single handedly, of handling the Alien Artifact Station.

So why don't the rest of you go rescue the hairy plebeians, and stay the hell out of his way.

Re: OOC

I think Decker would probably prefer to accompany ch'Pertha for two reasons:

1) To make sure that he doesn't lean against the wrong switch and either sterilize or vacuum up the entirety of the solar system (including the Independence) with the Black Hole.

2) To preserve his career by distancing himself as far as possible from the upcoming Courts Martial for violations of the Prime Directive.

It's what I call a win-win.

Re: OOC

In all likelihood Mara should probably leave the away mission to her more than capable officers and take point on dealing with the inhabitants and possible relocation.....

Buuuuut why split the party?

Re: OOC

Like I said, we can split the PCs into two teams, or we can have the PCs go into one team (the alien artifact) and I can NPC the other team semi-off-camera.

And, of course, STA has a great mechanic for people to be involved in both, called "Supporting Characters".

I'm not seeing a real consensus, tho.  Shall I just make a call, or does anyone feel strongly?

Re: OOC

I think the situation doesn't really allow for us to take it slowly (and it would substantially reduce the tension if it did) - and neither task really makes sense to hand off to lower ranked NPCs. It also seems to me that splitting the party is a lot less problematic in this form of RP.  I say let the story take its course.
