OOC is OOC, IC is IC!  :)

No worries about the delay, captain!  Real life takes precedence!

Looking at the current chapter title, I wondered to myself: wouldn’t it be amusing if we never offended the Hive, and the fury never manifested?

Or maybe it was misspelled, and the thing is full of My Little Pony Cosplayers... Furry of the hive!

So, not actually furious and mostly harmless?

...we can’t be that lucky on a first contact!

I guess I’ll see what shenanigans happened in the morning!  Good night, all.

I wouldn't put anything past the GM, but I'm assuming the spelling is right. ;)

While it'd be nice to be able to avoid the fury, I'll bet 5 credits that the colony has already done so and now we get to try and mitigate the consequences.

And 5 credits on Decker earning the ‘Johnny Rico’ award!

That was one of thee worst movies I ever enjoyed. It was hilariously bad, and really wandered far from the book, especially in the combat, which made a certain amount of sense in the books, and none at all in the movies.

On a meta level, it baffles me that anyone considers the book 'fascist', though Doogie's costume were cool.

Yeah, I can enjoy that movie now for what it is, but it pissed me off mightily when it first came out, as I had always enjoyed the novel. As I'm sure you know, it was not originally intended to be an adaptation of the book (and it really isn't). It was written as a generic sci-fi action movie and they altered it midway through production.

I didn't know that, do you have a cite? The screenwriter has been quoted as saying he was a huge fan of the novel. I do know the director didn't read it though. Putz.

I did like one odd thing that happened though, when it first came out where I was they inadvertently said it was based on the book by Robert E. Heinlein, instead of Robert A. Heinlein, and the combat scenes did feel lore like something by a different, famous Robert E., in Howard.

https://sony.fandom.com/wiki/Starship_Troopers

The original script was titled "Bug Hunt at Outpost Nine"

Yeah, Verhoeven hated the book and decided to make a movie to counter it. I really have to wonder what the scriptwriter thought about that if he was a fan (which I've also seen).

Re: OOC

Should be catching up soon, work finally leveled off after one of our techs had a dependent test positive.  Of course it's the unvaccinated hold-out. We've all been working extra hours to cover her absence.

I gotta dash in 5 minutes but I wanted to let you know I'm not dead and should be updating in the next day or two.
