I love the implication that the XO arriving on deck will mean that the kids will have to stop playing, and that he’ll be all responsible like.

When it’s just as likely that ‘dad’ is going to come charging into the bedroom, and start hurling abuse out the window incoherently at the three neighbours, and throwing the kids’ stuffed toys into the yard ineffectually like some deranged Wookie.
