Re: Abyss Station - Ancient Artifact
ch'Pertha turned to Vex and Saghalie, "I don't suppose that you were working to interface with some kind of control room around this place, when things starting going wrong?"
I got us some eggheads of varying flavours that might be able to fix things.
"Decker, did you say something about a transmission point just up ahead?

"Mcreeg, do what you can to establish a comms link with Independence, preferably ... or at least our shuttles".

"Aye, sir. It was just ahead, less than 500m. I'll try and lock it down again."

He glanced down and reached a hand out to Lieutenant Saghalie first, "Up you go, Lieutenant. I know it still hurts, but the only way out is through, I'm afraid."

Another voice and another order, with all that's going on it's getting frustrating..

yet in a way,it's a help..communications something tangible, something he can relly work on, that he can make happen if given the time..

"Aye, Sir..will get right on it"

Saghalie manages to get one foot flat. The hand is ignored. He makes no sound save mouth breathing.

Re: Abyss Station - Ancient Artifact
T'Lara for her part would have been happy to leave as fast as possible and never come back -  if it wasn't for the fact that the station was about to obliterate a planet, and everyone on it.  She looked around to see how she could make herself useful, eventually deciding to check her tricorder for the same transmission point their commander was referring to.

Re: Abyss Station - Ancient Artifact
Decker frowned and turned his tricorder on Lieutenant Saghalie again. After a moment, he shook his head, "I was hoping a mild stimulant would be enough, but I think I'd better risk a few drops of Cordrazine." He loaded up his hypospray and knelt carefully to give the injection. After safing the hypospray, he glanced up at ch'Pertha, "Please remember that I always let you win at cards during my court martial, Commander."

OOC: This is a very strong stimulant. Tsolo will not feel great, but it should get him up on his feet. It doesn't solve the dehydration or malnutrition issues, but he'll be able to work past them...at least until we can get him to the ship for a good meal and some rest, or until we all die here on the station. Side effects may include: elevated blood pressure, dry mouth, tachycardia, restlessness, insomnia, irritability, increased anxiety, paranoia, and death.

The patient makes a noise, half scream, half strangle. He gropes and finds his tormenter's feet and tries to get himself upright by grabbing onto the figure. He seems to be looking nowhere in particular.

Mcreeg find a spot to work, away from the others but not too far and gets to it, humming a tune from his childhood, one that would be familiar to most of his fellow crewmates, it's what helps him focus, helps him set up the problem in his head, guiding his thoughts to help him deal with whatever is going on, even as he wills the connection to work, silently urging those he seeks to respond..

There is a pause and a crackle in Mcreeg's helmet transceiver, obviously interference.  After a moment, LT Nipay's voice comes through.

Decker clicked his tricorder into its holder where his belt would be and reached out with both hands to lift Tsolo to his feet, "Come on, Lieutenant. Stand up. I've got you. Can you look at me?"

Without much sympathy, in a grating tone, LCDR JavKer grumbled, "Grife, is he gonna stand up or not?  We got a clock running here.  Maybe give him some water.  Here."  And he offered Decker a small cylinder from the back of his suit - a canteen.

Re: Abyss Station - Ancient Artifact
"Thanks, Gullak. Here, Lieutenant." He opens the canteen and placed it into his hands, making sure that Tsolo has a firm grasp on it before letting go. "Drink....but SLOWLY."

He paused, "I'd need to do a more detailed examination, but the tricorder didn't pick up anything significant with your eyes. There's no physical damage. In my opinion you probably just caught a very bright flash when we tried to cut you free. There's nothing we can do to speed his recovery here, but it should begin to clear up shortly." He shrugged, mostly to himself.

Tsolo fumbles with the canteen but brings it to his lips. He drinks three swallows, one at a time. Holding the canteen out into the air, he says G..d. We go.

his heart catches and his eyes grow wide in his helmet when he finally hears something, then realizing it's so identical to the last message he received even as Mcreeg keys his commlink, hoping they can hear him even a little..

"Lt. Nipay, this is Mcreeg, I received your message, can you hear me?"

The silence as he waits for a response is almost painful, but he's not ready to alert his crewmates yet, wanting to have more to tell them this time..

Re: Abyss Station - Ancient Artifact
As Starfleet Command hast responded to T'Lara's attempts (msg 338 above), I am going to assume that she succeeds; and with her successful scans, and Decker's descriptions, we can start heading towards said workroom where the transmission is coming from.

With Saghalie up and supported, the group was in a position to move.
ch'Pertha led the way, as always, watchful for threats ... and he took guidance from T'Lara who had a scan lock on the transmission point, Decker who had located that point, and Vex who'd been to (hopefully and apparently) to that room.

By his calculations, they had half an hour before the Black Hole (irritated by this place's activation) slice a line of no return through that planet out there.

Please, SFC, how long has it taken us to come from the surface to this point.
If we turned back now, with a wounded Saghalie, how long would we expect to take getting back to our entry point?

In reply to CDR Naryss ch'Pertha (msg # 352):

Sorry, been tied up answering a slew of PMs.

Yes, T'Lara still has the lock that she and Decker had established on the nearest transmission point they were receiving from.

As for time passed, given the cautious approach you'd taken and the strange encounters, it's been about an hour.  Unencumbered, you could make it back to the shuttle in 10 minutes, going the way you came, but Tsolo is going to slow you down a little.  His vision should recover shortly, but until then, he can't really run safely. Say 15 minutes to make it back helping him along.

And as Tsolo and D'rala can tell you when it becomes relevant, the control interface they had found line up with the transmission point T'Lara has a lock on.  It's only about a couple minutes walk away.

D'rala helps T'lara hold Saghalie steady as the group prepares to get the move on.

"Ready on our end," she says, when the two women have mutually agreed they've got it down, and Saghalie seems able to move.

The allure of leaving this cursed place is almost palpable, but she keeps herself steeled. Who knows what's to come before they can make their escape.

With the injured Lieutenant taken care of, and T'Lara tracking the communication signal, Decker drew out his trusty tricorder and began scanning for any new signs of danger. He mainly focused on the path ahead of the party, but occasionally did a quick sweep behind as well.

"Cmdr ch'Pertha, I'm in contact with Lt Nipay, it's more of the same, it's bad, really bad..we're in more trouble than we think"

Mcreeg knows his report is vague, but with all that is going on he wants to make sure he has the Commanders full attention before he goes on..
