Melee attack or cast frostbite. My slots were used out of combat.

Bencor Dekarrac:
Got any sleep spells left nrell?

Alas, low level Sorcerers aren't great for multiple encounters. I have one lvl 1 spell slot left. If we can clear out the smaller threats, I may be able to subdue the more substantial enemies if we can isolate them.

GM, is the robed figure's head/face covered?

Re: OOC

Unfortunately, N'rell, in 5e you can't seem to delay your turn or even change your order in the initiative. Best you can do is ready an action, but that won't change your init count.

Finding it real pesky in the other game I'm playing in.

Re: OOC

Not even before combat actually starts? I know I can't change once things are underway, but I figured I would try and wait until after the melee characters have gone so as to not spoil the surprise.

Re: OOC

You can Ready your attack/spell for when something specific occurs and then use your reaction to attack or cast your spell.

The raiders will spot you so you won't get a surprise round, so please post your initiative and your actions for the first round if you haven't already.

And anyone shooting through the barred window will have Disadvantage on the attack.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 228):

Given low our initiatives and the layout, it feels like there's an above average chance of getting AoOs from enemies running past Isolde and I to get to the rest of the party, or creating a choke point at the door. Do I have a correct understanding of the layout, and if so, do you want us to roll for AoOs?

Re: OOC

As much as I like everyone having a chance to play their character, it's been several days since N'rell has logged in.

DM, could you perhaps make his roll or decide if he is just standing there without doing anything? Or at least express your usual method of dealing with a situation like this so we know after this.

Re: OOC

DM, did I take another hit this combat, or does my character sheet's HP still reflect my totals from before our short rest?

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 237):

How wide is the sally port? How many Hand2Hand'ers do we have? Can we funnel them in so we have more h2h'ers at the front line, and still have our ranged characters contribute?

Re: OOC

If you leave the ready room, you can fit three people across the sally port gate to block the raiders. The ranged fighters can stay behind them and still be able to attack. Otherwise, only one person can stand at the door of the ready room.

Re: OOC

I also forgot to ask the obvious question: How much help would the Mending cantrip be?

I suppose it's in character for a Lvl-1 Cleric to forget what cantrips she has that might aid combat situations.

quote:
You take a minute to cast this spell, and it fixes a break or tear in an object you touch while leaving no traces of the damage. The damage can't be longer than 1 foot in any dimension. The spell can fix constructs and magic items, but can't restore magical properties.

Presumably the damage is greater than 1 cubic foot of volume, and enemies are approaching faster than it takes to cast, anyway.

Re: OOC

It appears that we have lost him.

Mending could fix the door, but it will take 5 castings (for a total of 5 minutes) to do so.

If you haven't already posted your initiative and actions for the first round, please go ahead and do that. I just realized I hadn't asked for that yet.

Re: OOC

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 244):

Edited my previous post to include initiative, assuming I can cast a spell while they're still 50ft away -- I rolled 19 for initiative, so I'm guessing I can get to them before they move up, even if I don't get an entire round in before they make it to the door.
