“… and if you try to detain me illegally, if you attempt to restrict our right to freedom, then you’ll be proving everything everyone thinks about you.

So, my friend here” he said, with a tilt of his head to Newton, “and I will be leaving, with our comrade.
IF you want your President to live, you will allow THIS doctor to save his life … because there is NO OTHER doctor coming here until that mess out there is dealt with.  And that will be hours, with increasing chance of insurgence from people who will be looking to finish your President”.

"No, you will stay" the man pulled out a gun, and didn't point it at Danny, or Newton, but at Price's charred remains "You stay until Russian doctor gets here. Understood?"

"Where is your doctor?" Newton pinched bridge of his nose. He was already regretting asking that question.

Newton, and everyone present, could see that if it weren’t for keeping his hands and effort on these two dying/dead men, he’d be rising to the challenge right now.

Possibly Newton could defuse this.

As she's getting to the captain, over the coms Ana Sofía asks, "Newton, can you lock down the upper floors? That's where almost all of Legion is. If they're stuck at the top, the bottom can be controlled and people can be evacuated."

She looks at the captain, "Sir, I can update you on the situation. We tricked most of the force taking the UN. Half surrendered to you, and half went to the rooftop to fight Ironman. That's the gunfire. But Ironman isn't there. We're hoping to trap them up there so hostages can be evacuated. Among them is the Russian president, who is critically wounded. One of my team is tending to him."

Kate dispatched the Legion clone just as quickly as the Widow did, although she did make a hell of a lot more mess, and that's taking into account the fact that Natasha cleanly decapacitated her mark.

The bloody garrote zipped back into her bracelets, and already she was sneaking forward, entering the great assembly hall with Kate in toe.

Inside, they find both the hostages, and the rest of the Legion.  Most of the clones were standing up on the stage, aiming their rifles at the terrified men and women forced to sit in attendance.   A few were busy readying the cameras and adjusting the lighting, and a couple applied the final touches to the makeup of the 'Announcer'; a suited Legion duplicate with the blue polka-dot tie.

"What the $#$@?" The Widow thought, rather than spoke, fearing the Legion might overhear her "I don't know what they're playing at, but we can't take that many clones.  Even if we could, there are enough of them to massacre all the hostages before we even get down there"

"Putin's private doctor is in the hotel.  Once he checks our president, we will evacuate him, you, and your friend. Together.  Quiet like" He gave the two a knowing look.
"You'll be free to leave once our president regains his consciousness and is up on his feet"

"Wait; so you're telling me all the clones have been dealt with?" he asks Ana incredulously "Then why didn't we hear from the hostages till now? I don't want my men to charge right into a trap"

'Um... I don't know what to do either.' Kate admits silently back to the older redhead.  This really was well beyond her skills and experience.  'I'll see if anyone else knows what to do...'

Bending her mind once more towards Ana she sends out a rather less frantic if just as worrying communication.  Along with the view of just how many legions and hostages there were she asked 'Do you know what we should do now?  Neither of us think we can stop whatever is happening here without everybody getting killed.'

"I am sorry Danny but we have to compromise with our Russian guests a little bit." Newton said with a polite smile on his face.

"This is Newton. Ana, I can put a force field. And if you can guide my senses I can provide fire support." This was untested, but with his special sense and Ana's guidance he believed he could project his powers on upper floors.

Now, it was time to deal with honourable guests. "We accept your conditions. In the mean time I heavily suggest you to not wield that gun so recklessly. Personally, I wouldn't be so sure about bullets going straight here. And I would definitely not want to wield the gun that shot Putin through his head." Newton said politely.

"No, sir, not all the clones. All the clones covering the building. They're either on the roof or have already surrendered. Unfortunately, there are more clones holding hostages inside. We've cleared the way to the room where they have the hostages. The clones' goal is to make some sort of televised announcement from the UN. Is it possible to shut down communications coming from the UN so they cannot get their message out? Meanwhile, does being able to enter the lower floors help?... I've got to check with my team more..."

Over the coms she says, "Newton, can you both lock down the upper floors and contain the clones holding the hostages at the same time? Let me see what I can show you..."

Ana Sofía tries to set up a mental link between Newton, Kate, and her. As Kate's already trying to share her view, Ana Sofía is trying to connect Newton to this sharing.

Danny didn't take his eyes off the burly Russian who was pointing a gun, and threatening them ... after Danny had saved his president's life.

Newton could likely tell that Danny was looking for an excuse to turn those tables ... even if it meant causing great harm to this man, and any others who decided to get in his way.

Luckily, right now, Danny was focused on keeping one man alive, and attempting to regenerate another.

Danny looked around to see if there were cameras in this room.

"Calm down, my friend. You are busy with healing and if our plan works I can help Ana from here. It is our dear guests wasting their precious time." said Newton, never dropping the polite smile he put on.

"This is Newton. Ana, I can lock down the floors but containing specific clones would be hard if not impossible to do at the same time. Perhaps after we establish a mental link I can attack specific targets. I am commencing with lockdown" Newton was playing it loose too much today. It had yet to backfire, but he felt like he was pushing his luck.

"Good" the man nodded, and put his gun away, though the rest of the bodyguards were sill eyeing Danny - ready to act if he stepped out of line

"I will call our doctor.  AND take care of the remaining clones, so we can get him here safely"

"I don't give a rat's ass about whatever announcements they want to make.  All I want is to make sure the hostages make it out alive" Was this why the terrorists failed to make any demands?  All they wanted was to make a televised announcement, and took the hostages only to keep the police at bay long enough for them to do it?

There was a worse alternative though, that had to be considered; that they planned on executing the hostages on live television.
"I'll check what we can do about communication, but I'm rather doubtful.  We're also still waiting for approvals before I can order my men in.  Do you know what's going on inside?  "

Ana Sofía tries to use her telepathy along with her own sight and Kate's sight to give Newton targeting on the rooftop and the hostage room in a desperate attempt to try to save all the innocents.

Ana manages to form a mental link between her, Newton's, and even Kate's mind. Through their shared consciousness they can share not only thoughts, but also senses.  Ana is standing outside the UN headquarters and can't identify any Legion clones other than the ones surrendering to the police.  Kate, on the other hand, has full view of both the hostages and the rest of the terrorists.  By the looks of things, they are just about ready to start their broadcast

...I don't think you really needed an Asset for it as this is one of the things you can do with high enough telepathy, and none of the minds you are trying to connect to is actively resisting you.  You can probably still use the Asset vs mental attacks, if you want.
Also keep in mind that maintaining an Asset for the duration of the scene requires an investment of another PP.

Newton had no idea what to expect when asked for a mental link, but it was definitely not this. Somehow, he was seeing three different places at the same time. There was also an alien feeling taht he assumed it from Ana's way of sensing other minds around. He wondered how sensing mass - technically he was sensing the bending on space time due to mass but there was no need to be pedantic about it - felt to other People.

Ana, I can attack the broadcasting equipment, then we can deal with Legion clones unless you have any objections.

Oh, and if possible, I want you to remove memories of me and Danny from Russian bodyguards. Memories involving our powers. Certainly not necessary but we had to demonstrate a bit more then I am comfortable with. Of course after we resolve this situation.

You know those times when it seems like things can't get any worse... and then they do?

Zoey, two hundred miles away at her property in Ithica, is not in a bad enough mood today and has decided to turn on the news. There, she sees LIVE: UNITED NATIONS UNDER SEIGE and a couple instances of Legion. That, alone, would have pissed her right off well enough on its own, but then she sees a startled cameraman struggling to pan over a bouncing catgirl on her way into the building. She had to instant-replay the scene several times to be sure of who it was. Damn that Kitty Kate, what is she thinking?! she thinks furiously to herself. I never should have let her go alone.

Zoey had bought Kate a new phone and even showed her how to use it in case they ever needed to get in touch with each other. It was this phone that Zoey called now, unaware that Kate was trying to be stealthy.

'Whatever you can do to shut things down and protect the hostages, go for it.'

With no objections from Ana, Newton commenced with his violent craft. He wanted to do away with broadcasting equipment first. There was no need to televise this fight. While he disliked it, Freedom Force's main objective was to improve image of mutants. As he focused on the broadcasting equipment, he had realised he had 3 perspectives, well he was going to trust Anna with this third person though he had sent a polite Hello through the shared link.

Smashing the cameras, even if Newton wasn’t present in the room, wasn’t too complicated.  The equipment was rather sensitive, and it didn’t take more than a light push to topple the camera tripods down, or outright smash their lenses.  He couldn’t be sure that he got ALL of them, but surely it was enough to put a stop to the broadcast before it ever began.

“What the hell?” The Legion anchorman could only stand there, stupefied, as the rest of Legion cameraman scrambled in panic.  The disruption to their plans came out of nowhere, and it was already too late to do anything about it.  The cameras, microphones; they were all busted.  As was their plan to televise the revolution.

With a sigh, he turned toward the rest of the Legion
