"Agent Johnson to Freedom Force, can you read me?  Agent Johnson to Freedom Force, please respond" Johnson's voice over the communication channel was both muffled and broken " Agent Johnson to Freedom Force, can you read me?"

"This is Tank." Standing in the street somewhat uselessly, the call almost came as a relief. "I read you."

Re: [Story Thread]: Do As You Will, Act I: Investigating Essex

"It was an ambush, sir." Tank took up a stance near where Blockbuster still lay. There was no way to restrain someone that strong, so he needed to stand watch, much as he'd prefer to join the others. "A group of hostile metahumans were hired to kill us.

"I believe Windtalker is injured, and in need of medivac. She and the others are on a rooftop. Hostiles are now dead, fled, or in custody."

"I see..." Johnson paused to think before snapping back to action
"The roads are blocked; I will send a heli to evacuate Windtalker.  Send me your coordinates.  The hostiles are going to be more of a problem; we don't have anywhere to put them.  Can you bring them back to HQ safely?  How dangerous are they?"

"Right now, I'm standing over one called Blockbuster. He's about as strong as I am. He'll need to be sedated to keep him under control.

"I'm not sure about the others. Maybe Shiva has some idea. You there, Shiva?"

In reply to Tank (msg # 168):

Shiva was actually ignoring every other thing, given what was happening around him. However one of the arms gets the message, and reroutes the call. As a result, both commander Johnson and Tank get a text.

Working on stabilizing Ana. Restraining two terrorists. Possible restraints on remaining metahumans in progress. Possible holding cell on subject with Tank level strength...deep pit if subject has no jumping ability. Possible defunct coal mine? Or quicksand trap. Or submarine prison.

Re: [Story Thread]: Do As You Will, Act I: Investigating Essex

Tank thought for a second. He could climb out of a mine shaft. Blockbuster probably could, too. It wouldn't work.

"We'll need to keep workshopping that one."

Honestly, a facility like the Raft was probably ideal. Too bad there was someone like Magneto around to screw things up. Just because a prison could hold someone like Blockbuster, it didn't mean it was immune to prison breaks from the outside.

Re: [Story Thread]: Do As You Will, Act I: Investigating Essex

Up on a lonely rooftop Kate slowly shifted from an eagle down to her normal hybrid form.  She stayed away from the edges where someone might see her, realize she had been there, that she had hurt Ana.  Huddling in on herself against the wind she slowly nervously started to reach out with her mind, trying to find out if she had killed sourceofcookies but hesitant and afraid of success.

In reply to Kate Messer (msg # 171):

With two arms working on Ana, two arms holding Prisoners, and one arm acting as a paranoid guard against...well, everyone...that left Six. The errant arm was keeping track of every member of the team, including Kate. As a result, it elongated away from John and Gwenyth, and found her on a rooftop watching Ana from above.

The limb formed an emoji smiley face at Kate. Not relaying her location to the rest of the armature and John right away. For whatever reason, Six was keeping its encounter with the shapeshifter 'off the books' for now.

"Go away." A rather morose girl said swatting at the smiley face.  She wasn't in the mood for something trying to be anything like cheerful or happy.  The helicopter blew up and she almost killed Ana.  Now wasn't the time and she tried to convey that in both tone and action towards the limb thingy.

Re: [Story Thread]: Do As You Will, Act I: Investigating Essex

Gwenyth had been trying her best to kill Shiva, though. It was almost unimaginable now... only almost though, because she does have some dark feelings about almost every single member of Freedom Force. She could never voice them or act on them though. Doing so would be... WRONG. She needs to be more beautiful than that, for all her fans and all the people counting on her to set a positive example. She also couldn't ask if Shiva had somehow poisoned her or hacked her powers off or something. Looking up at him, she saw in his eyes that he needed to believe this. So... she would let him.

"Th-... thank you. I hope you're right." She carefully disentangles herself from John. His personal space sure is crowded with all those energy arms. She pulls a small mirror and makeup pad from her utility belt and checks her reflection to be sure she is still presentable; thankfully, she is. "I suppose we should calm the civilians down, then. They are probably very confused right now..."

Gwenyth blinks and looks down at her comms device, plucking it from her hip and listening in. "Sorry, agent Blake here, I'm okay." She doesn't like the idea of riding in a helicopter anymore... she isn't sure why but air vehicles seem to have an alarming tendency to explode around Freedom Force.

Re: [Story Thread]: Do As You Will, Act I: Investigating Essex

Jon stepped back from Gwenyth, as she seemed to have all the poise and confidence back she normally had. He hoped he had not come on too strong, but he was not an expert on other people's emotions. Hell, he barley knew how to deal with his own issues. "I am right." He said, confidence in his voice. "I'm still here. That's proves it."

He puts the mask back on, mostly to make him feel safe. He had avoided thinking about the long term consequences of anything that happened today. Mostly he was worried about what could change in the next few minuets.

He checked the medical data coming on from limbs 2 and 3. While unconcious, Ana's long term injuries had been minor.  He really should let the rest of the team know...and then he realized.

Where the hell was Six?

Sure enough, Six, not leaving Kate's side, put on a sad emoji face as she batted at the limb. The image changed then, showing Ana breathing comfortably with several digital displays. The largest of them saying 'patient stable.'

"About as strong as you" Johnson repeated after Tank "Nowhere we can put him then.  Bring them all back to HQ; at least we will have you around in case they try to escape.  Agent Blake; I'm going to need you to ride with Windtalker to the hospital, and stay by her side.  If this was a hit-job, there's a good chance they, or others, will come back to finish the job"

Gwenyth bites her lip. "Me, sir? Uhm..."

She looks at Shiva. "Did we take care of the one who made Ana freak out?" she asks. Given how swiftly she fell under foreign influence the first time she is not sure she wants to be alone with one-maybe-two super psychics

In reply to Gwenyth Blake (msg # 178):

"No." He said, shaking his head. "This is my fault. I should have detected the ambush, prevented those deaths, the attack on Ana, all of it." He said with a grim edge to his voice.

"We will have to institute anti telepathic protocols with the entire group. That thing is gonna come back. However, I dont think its strong enough to take control again without Ana being under its thumb."

Re: [Story Thread]: Do As You Will, Act I: Investigating Essex

Kate reluctantly stopped swiping at 'six' and said softly, "Thank you."  Not sure if it could really understand her or not still she took a deep breath and then went to face the music.  Shifting briefly back to an owl for the flight down to join the others and shifting back swiftly to her hybrid form.  Nothing without fur for her for a while, not without anything to wear at least.  Swallowing she asked the others, "Is she really going to be okay?"

In reply to Kate Messer (msg # 180):

Six replied with a 'happy' emoji face, and withdrew to John as soon as she flew down to rejoin the others. Upon doing so, John stared at his errant limb. He sounded annoyed when he addressed it.

""You know, you are not supposed to shut me out whenever you feel like, Six..." he grumbled, but then looked at Kate when she asks about Ana.

"Yes, she will be fine. Gonna have some bumps and bruises, but nothing some rest and medicine cant fix."

Re: [Story Thread]: Do As You Will, Act I: Investigating Essex

Gwenyth nods to Shiva and then takes a few steps away so her talk with Agent Johnson isn't stepping over Kate and Shiva's discussion.

"Sir, I am not certain I am the best agent to escort Ana," she explains to her superior. "Ana had been compromised by some foreign psychic influence and recent events have revealed I am extremely vulnerable to the same. I think Agent Shiva-" she looks to Shiva, noting his past resistance to telepathic contact, "should be the one to escort her."

"My order stands.  Blake; Windtalker's medical evac is on its way.  The rest of you; prepare the hostiles for transport.  I am dispatching an aircraft to take you back to HQ.  Johnson out"

Ana's eyelids fluttered and opened while Johnson was giving his orders.  She regained consciousness, though the excoriating pain made her wish like she didn't.

"... Yes, sir." Gwenyth sticks her phone back on her belt and jogs back to Shiva. "This arm to Windtalker, right?" she asks, pointing to the wrong arm. It's not her fault; Shiva's all over the place right right now.

In reply to Gwenyth Blake (msg # 184):

He pointed to the correct arm direction. "3 and 4 are that way." They where not too far away, like Six had been. One and Two where on a separate roof, each holding a terrorist. Mostly so John would not have to look at Harpoon and get angry. That being said, the sensors built into both arms made the villian and his friend visible on his unseen HUD.

Seeing Ana begin to stir Kate hurries over to her.  "Ana are you okay?"  Forgetting to use her code name entirely in her rush and worried about who will be in control and how her concern will be received.

Tank looked down at where Blockbuster lay in the gutter, cradling his broken jaw in his hands.

"Okay, on your feet," he ordered. "You're coming with us. Behave yourself and we'll fix your jaw. Act out and I'll break something else.

"Kneecap, probably."
