[[ Bradley Powell ]] Flight to the Surface

Handing off your only source of light and taking to the wing, you begin to rise. The column of air buffets your wings and force you to redirect and adjust your flight many times. Sometimes sending you into a wall or flapping end-over-end. Along this stone column, the skulls have faded away in an upward spiral, giving way to basic stone. There are various divots and markings in the stone, but your rise has a singular goal. The light at the very top.

As you near the apex of your destination, you begin to realize that the light is deceptive. Instead of a grand opening, the way is blocked by a circle of some type of rusting metal. The light is from small holes in the plate itself.

Perching on a rusty bar of metal used for a ladder gives you a moment to catch a much-needed breath. Once landed, you catch a glimpse of an opening. It is small, large enough for a dog to get through.. or perhaps a wolf. But certainly a bird. From this opening in the stone wall to the west, a warm wind blows. Peering in, there is nothing but darkness in the uneven crawlspace.

[[ Bradley Powell ]] Flight to the Surface

Let the wolves and the bear fight it out, it wasn't Bradley's problem.  At least not yet at any rate.  The fact that the skulls were quickly giving way to stone was a promising sign, though Bradley would prefer it if he could stop almost crashing into them.  It was times like this that he was more than a little envious of the Corvid born Corax, as they just had a sixth sense for these sorts of things.

Still, eventually, he was able to make his way to the top and spying the opening, the Corax sat quietly for a moment or two.  It might be dark, but the promise of a warm wind, when combined with the Corax's natural curiosity got the better of him, and he started picking his way through the opening as best he could.  Besides, even if it was dangerous up here, it still beat unknown ooze monster any day of the week!

[[ Bradley Powell ]] Flight to the Surface

Getting up close and personal with the rectangular opening in the wall, the warm wind smelled fresh - or at least fresher than the tunnels below. The air was still stale, like an old furnace set to the OFF position and left to sit for decades.

Beyond the darkness was a sickly, dim yellow light. It took a few moments to pick it out but it was certainly there at the right viewing angle.

Then, it clicked.

This was a sewer entrance.

[[ Bradley Powell ]] Flight to the Surface

Interesting.  The others would most definitely need to know about this.  Assuming of course that they hadn't all been eaten by that ooze monster, or whatever it was.  Still, Evan seemed to have his head on straight, and he had asked Bradley to go scout, so perhaps he was still about.  And so giving the sewer entrance one last look, the Corax quickly turned around and headed back to report his findings.
