Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Ironsides looked aghast, but whatever he was about to say to Elisabeth was cut off by Freemason finally answering some of his questions and then adding to his list which got an almost pleasant smile for the human.

Looking at Cypher he nodded, understanding now what his place was in the team,"So, besides the paying being low, and us basically double crossing a gang to benefit someone we don't know about this isn't a terrible job...run virgin aside."

He glanced at Elisabeth as he said the last, focusing back on his lists and diagram he gestured at Freemason,"So she's magic, he's matrix, what do you do?"

As he waited for an answer he fiddled with his commlink, looking vaguely frustrated as he manipulated some of the icons and more words appeared on another list:

Information needed:
Map of Greyspot Mall
Information on Brass Knucks gang and Nay - ch.
Information on Banana Man.

Looking at the list and things he had already added he growled, a low deep sound and tilted his head,"Any of you have a grapple gun?"

Cypher:
"I'll get onto that when our business here is concluded and I can get to a less public spot to hack in from."

Elisabeth chuckled. "Unless one of our adjacent non-fellows Soybuckers can pierce my Spell, or has Assensing, you are not really public here. Or are you just uncomfortable around magic?"
Ironsides:
,"Any of you have a grapple gun?"

Elisabeth spoke up. "No. Sorry! And, I don't know the Levitate Spell yet."

She looked from one to the next. "I would propose that we plan each of our encounters, in the order in which we are likely to encounter them. Comments?"

"No, not around magic", Cypher replied in answer to Elisabeth's question. Women with British accents, on the other hand...

He forced a smile. "すみません. I guess old habits die hard. Forgive my paranoia."

"Me? I handle small arms. No grapple gun here either."

Nodding at Elisabeth's proposal Mason added "And what could go wrong at each stage, so we're not at home if Mr Fuckup comes knockin'. I'd suggest we get there early an' wait, so how do we get in the place?"

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Ironsides listened to the others chatter a bit and smirked,"Step one is for us to go shopping obviously, anyone want to go buy something in the Greyspot Mall? I have a sudden hankering to get to know one of my fellow trolls, if we can convince Casey to stay at home or take him out before we move on the mall that would be best."

He pondered for a few moments before looking at the pretty little elf,"Perhaps the day of you can lay a complaint against him? Maybe get him suspended from work?" Snorting he shook his head,"First thing first, let's visit the mall, get a look at the building and see if we can figure out where the meeting will be at. If we can set up a sniper with some gel rounds, or stick n shock we can eliminate Banana Man and Naytch and have someone snatch the bags."

He gestured to the Elf,"It's difficult to figure out which encounter or anything like that till we've seen the mall. So let's split into pairs and go visit the mall. Investigate the floors, entrances and any kind of business or part of the building we can get into at 1pm at night. Normally I'd suggest the two Brits stick together...but either of you good if it comes to a fight?"

"The idea is to avoid violence as much as possible. At least that's my understanding", said Cypher. "I can use a blade, but I won't win any awards for fancy knife play. Having said that I guess none of you have seen my friendly side yet. My charm offensive usually negates the need for bloodshed."

In truth Cypher didn't really see his role as much more than a point man directing the muscle guys toward the target whilst keeping security arrangements at bay. Given a choice however, He'd pick a pretty elf as a partner over several pounds of muscle or a guy for comapny, even if it was strictly business.

Elisabeth smiled at Ironsides, "I believe Cypher sounds like he might be a Brit. You don't sound like one, though, Mr. Ironsides.

Fight? What do you mean? Me, myself, fight, or have my Spirit swallow you whole until you suffocate? "

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Ironsides wondered, just for a moment who Gonzo had got him signed up for and how much pressure he should put on her for the next job, but he had bills to pay,"No one walks around hoping for violence, but this is not the Queen's Cricket or whatever, people will rob you just because you look fancy in some areas."

Glancing at the Elf he raised an eyebrow,"If you're aiming your spirits at me you're missing the point. I'm asking if you can use normal weapons, the last thing we need before we raid the place is leaving big warning signs by having a spirit eat a pick pocket and having the Astral police having the place on lock down before we go in there."

Realizing the was dealing with people who he had to be very, very clear with he tried again,"If something happens while we're scouting, something random but possibly violent can you protect yourself with out magic?"

The troll clearly did not understand magic. "If you mean, if I am paralyzed, can I protect myself, the answer is: no better than you can. However, if my Spirit is nearby, she can protect me. Or you, if I ask it of her."

No better than he can?

Shaking his head Ironsides dismissed it. If she wasn't going to say if she needed physical protection so she didn't have to leave astral fingerprints, or whatever mages called it, she could figure it out,"Fine, Cypher, you and Elisabeth stick together and Free Mason and I will stick together. Does anyone have a vehicle?"

They needed to find entrances, exits and more importantly either a way in after they were closed or somewhere to hide till the meeting time.

"I have no normal weapons, nor would I want them."
Ironsides:
,"If something happens while we're scouting, something random but possibly violent can you protect yourself without magic?"

"Can I sneak away? Can I bluff my way? Can I rely on a disguise? Can I impersonate anyone's buddy? Maybe others as well?

All of the above."

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Half of Cypher's attention was in the matrix. The other half was in the real world. Although he wasn't the best at multitasking he had been following the conversations and anyone caring to notice would have seen him visibly relax. Jet lag and a new environment, coupled with the belief that this 'favour' he owed could have been a set up by Ikawa Industries had made him suspicious. Ironsides questions and the various answers led Cypher to believe these people were just as green as he was. Normally that would be a bad thing, but it made Cypher trust them more. Plus, he was beginning to like them. Especially the troll.

"It shouldn't be that hard to do recon, really. I mean it's a mall, right? We are just regular everyday shoppers, right?"

He turned to Elisabeth "Don't worry, I'll carry all the bags for you."

Elisabeth shook her head. "I don't carry much around."

She looked at her commlink. "We will have to use a special frequency to keep in touch. Do you have a sub-vocal mic?"

"True." Mason put in, "But if we don't blend in with th' crowds, we'll stick out if anyone looks at footage after th' job." He was thinking of both official investigators and those that might get access to footage by other means. The trick was to recon wihout looking like you were doing recon.

"Maybe a spirit or spell could help stop us bein' noticed?"

Elisabeth:
She looked at her commlink. "We will have to use a special frequency to keep in touch. Do you have a sub-vocal mic?"

"I have one. How securely can you encrypt a group call?" He asked Cypher.

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Ironsides looked at Cypher and nodded, it was a mall, people went in and out all the time he raised an eyebrow at Freemason's comments about sticking out and chuckled,"I always stick out, but I dress different on a run to this...and I'm pretty sure Cypher's job includes clean up of cameras half the time. More spells and tricks means we stand out more in later investigations if we go into the mall today just go in ordinary, unless you are a wanted person."

Which Ironsides wasn't, just SINless so he wouldn't be buying anything just cruising through slowly looking around, he would let his cybereyes take pictures to look at stuff later, for now he was just going to walk,"So no vehicle then?"

Well walking it was then.

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
"I've got a harley", replied Cypher, "But I can only take one passenger. And yes, I should be able to encrypt our comms."

He had ordered the Harley from 'wheels', a troll mechanic and it had been waiting for him at the airport. Which reminded him, he should really look up Hitomi whilst he was here. Having a street doc on standby was a useful resource. It didn't hurt that she was pretty, either.

"I meant our behaviour standing out, but you make a good point." A troll would struggle to blend with most crowds, but a troll checking out camera and sensor positions would almost certainly draw attention.

"I think Cypher is our bug out man in that case. If things go south after we secure the goods, can you get 'em away on the Harley? Everyone else would be on old fashioned trade craft."

"Sure", replied Cypher, "It's just a case, so I should be able to just snatch and run. Do whe have a safe house I can take the goods to if we all get separated?"

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Elisabeth sighed. For all of everyone's supposed professionalism, they were getting sidetracked by little details rather than looking at the big picture.

"Cipher orders up a maintenance crew to service the mall. Disguised, we arrive and fake the job.

We avoid Jeremy and the other guards, knock out the Banana Man, my Spirit instills fear in the mooks, we snatch the suitcase and scram.

End of story."

"Could work." Mason conceded. "But we'd still need to know how the maintenance crew work. Equipment, clothing, if they use vehicles, that kinda thing. Good security'll pick up on anythin' not right with all that." It would come down to gathering that intel and if they could either source the props or have Elisabeth fake them.

He added more notes to the list, with question marks besides the unknown quantities. "Cypher, can you get that info for us? And how much control could you get over the mall systems?"

"I'll put the maintenance research on my to do list", Cypher replied. "Currently doing recon on the mall's security system looking for vulnerabilities. With luck I may be able to install a back door access that will make the job much easier."

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Ironsides frown grew,"We need both of the cases, the 'mooks' and the Banana man's cases. Not just one, so scaring off the 'mooks' is not your best option as half the target leaves with that."

Jeremy has already been compromised, and knows we are coming, in fact it looks like he's even happy to let us in and let us hide on his floor. Scouting is only to discover how we are going to get in, and how we are going to get out, but more importantly where the meet is going to take place.....and not sure about which malls you go to, but maintenance typically arrives the next day not in the middle of the night when the meets about to go down."

Running his massive hand over his face he shrugged,"But let's go buy something in the mall and see what we can learn that way?"

Re: Infiltrate the Greyspot Mall!
Hearing no follow up, Elisabeth chose to comment. "The mooks we will be scaring off are not the one carrying the case.

Maintenance does not occur when the mall is open. Night makes the most sense.

We can scout. But, the cameras will attempt to record us. We shall need to alter our appearance and/or affect the recordings, before, during, or after."
