The Red Pit

Chang Jun is on his feet in an instant. His right foot coming up and striking forward to land solidly against the chest of the guard beside him.

21:15, Today: Chang Jun rolled 1 using 13-3d6 with rolls of 4,3,5.  Attack roll.

Ooops that should be a 4, miss typed the 13 is actually 16.

21:18, Today: Chang Jun rolled 11 (with 3 body) using 3 with the Hero (Champions) system.  Hit Location. CHEST

21:21, Today: Chang Jun rolled 20 (with 6 body) using 6 with the Hero (Champions) system with rolls of 3, 6, 3, 2, 5, 1.
21:21, Today: Chang Jun rolled 2 (with 1 body) using 1 with the Hero (Champions) system with rolls of 2. Half die equal 1

Toatal damage before armor 21 stun 7 body

Forgot to take into account the reduction in strength so the half die should be taken off leaving 20 stun 6 body.

GM: Was this the maneuver you used?

5 Kick:              1/2 Phase, -2 OCV, +1 DCV,  6 1/2d6, Strike

Did you take the -2 OCV into account?  I think you hit DCV 2-, agreed?

You are correct I totally forgot to add the -2

The Red Pit

Syssiah didn't immediately rose up to her feet. Fatigued as never, covered in grim and filth, both from the mining and the nocturnal attentions of the guards, she knew better than to oppose anyone physically in her state.
She perked up though, and looked for the better way to sneakily step to the ladders. The Freedom was up there. She quickly started to crawl away, hoping to pass inobvious for at least few seconds.

GM: are you moving to a different hex?  If so please indicate which, hopefully the numbers in each hex that's unoccupied are visible on the map. Full or half move?  Please clarify

OOC: From LL18 to HH 18; Half Move, in order to be sneaky.

There will come a time, when Abdibaal will find a moment to try and break the will of the mob, I must be ready. The tinder catches easily, if the kindling is wet, there will be only smoke, not fire.

Segment 12 - Results

In order of DEX...

Sarajen ducks low, moving quickly amid the chaos to the fallen slave driver.  He snatches up the hammer and awl from the dust of the pit where the dog had dropped them in his death throes.  Though the corpse wears leathers it will take time to remove them, but there is little else.  Clearly he had left his own truncheon above before descending into the pit to remove the prisoner's shackles.
Would take the next turn to remove the man's 3 pieces of leather armor (1 piece per phase - chest, girdle & skirt, boots).
Damage Stunx STR Min Mass Fantasy Hero
Hammer 1d6-1 +1 8 1.0kg Hammer, Small
Awl 1/2d6 5 0.7kg Stilleto w/o armor piercing

STUNx = increased stun multiplier

Syssiah separates herself from the immediate combat, slipping between the slaves towards the wall.  When she halts she can no longer see Nazarus or the drivers on the Feeding Area above, nor Abdibaal & his mercenaries at the upper lip of the pit.
For the moment Syssiah has broken line of sight with the guards above.  Only those adjacent to the edge of the Feeding Area can see her.

Chang Jun plants his heel into the meaty chest of the mongrel slave driver, strong enough to send his feet out from under him.  The red dust welcomes him as he lands, the air leaving his lungs in an audible gasp.
Slave driver 1 is CON Stunned and prone - circle with a slash to indicate stunned, icon kneeling with arrows to indicate prone, 1/2 DCV, 1/2 difficulty to hit specific hit locations

Ludvik charges forward, pushing past Amalric to sweep the 2nd slave driver's feet from him.  The man takes the fall better than his fellow and looks relatively unharmed as he lands.
Slave driver 2 is prone, 1/2 DCV.  You would have already spied out the location of the guards before the revolt began so you are aware of the following:
Nazarus and 8 of his slave drivers oversee feeding on the level above.  3 more slave drivers patrol each of the 2 remaining levels inside the pit.  Abdibaal’s personal guard of Pelishtim mercenaries look down upon all as they patrol lip of the pit.  There are 3 bowmen and 8 spearmen spread out more or less evenly.  Now all eyes have turned toward you and your band.

Tiberio falls upon the stunned cur Chang had felled, raining blows upon his unprotected head and pummeling the brute into unconsciousness.  There is little blood but it was clear the bastard was done.  His truncheon lies in the dirt beside him.
CON Stun was timely reducing the difficulty of the Head Shot, he is out and will not re-awaken (big red X).  Has same armor as dead guard and a truncheon (club)
Damage STR Min Mass Fantasy Hero
Truncheon 3d6N 8 1.2kg Baton/Shillelagh

N = does Normal Damage instead of Killing Damage

Amalric tries to deal a blow to the driver Ludvik has tripped but the man, a wicked Zingaran who often boasted of his many crimes openly, manages to bring his limb up in time to deflect the force of the strike.
miss

Slave Drivers & Slaves gap in amazement as the impossible takes place before them.  But murmuring can be heard from those nearby, echoing the words of the Hyperborean.  Picks and shovels begin to raise not in toil but in anger.  Slowly the wave of violence begins to spread...
Bonus to PRE Attack for violent action and good soliloquy, beat slave's PRE by 20.  You beat Slave Drivers PRE by 10, they will only be able to perform a Half Action during their next phase.

Segment 4:

Watching the slavers get their comeuppance brings yet another grin to Sarajen's face. Followed immediate by a grimace as one of them falls to the ground heavily.

With hammer and awl in his hands, he rises up and calls out:

"Who wants to be free?!"

He prepares for a throng of people who will want their shackles removed. If they are going to try to break out they are going to need all the help they can get.

"Come one, come all. The times of slavery are over!"

OOC: For this turn at least Sarajen will free a few slaves. He'll pass the tools on to others in a later segment so he can join the fight.

Segment 12 - Results

Walls & ladders are 10m in height.

Ladders are considered easy climbs. Rate is 1/2 your Running / phase, -1 DCV, no skill check required

Walls are considered normal difficulty.  Rate is 2m / phase and -1 OCV, -2 DC & 1/2 DCV, require normal skill check (+1 for numerous handholds), failure will need DEX roll to hold position but further fail may result in fall.

You may reduce any penalties while climbing by making a separate successful Climb Skill roll (penalties on ladder eliminated, wall reduced to penalties for ladder).

You may increase your climbing rate by an additional 2m with a separate Climb skill check.

BLUFF: ladder probably take 2 phases to climb with a minor reduction in DCV.  Walls harder, probably over a Turn, maybe more to climb and will be at more of a disadvantage if attacked.  But, with a good Climbing skill can speed this up and no way the slavers can block up the entire wall.

However, the jackal's threats are backed by no bold move of his own as the Whip remains where he stands.  His cruel eyes watching, expecting his brutes to return order to the Pit.

19:41, Today: Crom rolled 19 using 3d6+1d3 with rolls of 5,6,6,2.  Nazarus PRE attack on Slave Drivers.

The slave driver before them crushed Chang Jun and Tiberio wind their way through the ragged denizens of the Pit yet it is Syssiah with her slight head start who gains the ladder first.

The remaining slaver is left to the brutal attention of Amalric and Ludvik.  The Zamoran dog never has the chance to rise from from the dust as both men lay merciless blows upon his cowering form.

Nazarus' words are unable shake his remaining brutes from their shock.  Next the ruthless brigand lets his namesake speak for him.  A sharp crack and a cry of surprise rise above the tumult of battle as the nearest-most slaver feels the promise of discipline Nazarus had warned.
1 Body, 1 STUN to slave driver's thigh.  Leathers protect, no damage.

Chang gains the ladder and begins his ascent but in his haste he slips on a rung and drops a few meters before catching himself.
Minor problem from hurrying and failing both DEX rolls, only ascent 4m instead of 6m

As if in a daze the slave drivers approach the edge of the Feeding Area to look down upon the chaos unfolding below.  A mob of slaves rush upon Sarajen, encircling both he, Ludvik and Amalric in their thirst for the freedom which the old man has offered.  The fallen slave drivers do not escape their notice however; many a pick or shovel grows red with gore as they rise and fall over the spot where the cursed oppressors fell.

Meanwhile, those fortunate soulswhose shackles had likewise been released for their good behavior move to join the instigators of the uprising.  Several make to climb the pick-marked walls while others move toward the ladders.  The desperation shines in their eyes; the cries from their cracked lips call out for freedom.  But will such flames continue to burn when they meet the truncheon, arrow or spear of the guardians of the Pit...
Slaves without manacles have green circles

The remaining slave drivers' hearts grow cold at the realization of their tenuous predicament.  Once slaves themselves they know there will be no quarter given from those they only recently guarded; injustices they met out will be repaid in blood unless the uprising can be squashed now.  They threaten the poor wretches who stand near, hoping to forestall any more from joining the uprising.  For the moment their presence and that of The Whip hold the order in the Feeding Area.

Syssiah I'd deleted your post as you do not move on Segment 6.  I understand what you'll be doing; you can repost or not as you like.

Ludvik/Amalric the guard you felled had held the basket of manacles.  One could be used as improvised weapons but would incur a penalty to your OCV unless you have WF: Improvised Weapons skill.  Alternatively anyone can try to take a pick or shovel from one of the slaves though they will be loath to release a weapon (will require a Disarm maneuver or knocking a slave out)

Anyone may spend half a Phase looking for something to use as a weapon.  As you might expect, there are quite a number of rocks of various sizes and shapes lying around.

The enthusiastic response at the offer of freedom is a little more than Sarajen was expecting. He removes the manacles of the first slave that approaches, then hands the hammer and awl to her, saying,

"Here! Help everyone. I will look for other ways."

OOC: Change of plan for Sarajen. He wasn't expecting all the slaves to rise up like that. He thought a few might have been too beaten to even move. As described, he will hand the tools to the slaves so they can free themselves, and, if there's enough time, he will pick up a tool or weapon as the slaves scramble to get their manacles removed. That should make for a phase.

Change of idea: Sarajen isn't worried about the slaves. If the slaves are not motivated to have their own freedom, he won't try to convince them. If she won't take the hammer and awl, Sarajen will just say,

Segment 8 - Banter

Sarajen - The basket of manacles, dropped by the slave driver Ludvik and Amalric felled, lies a short distance away (though largely obscured amid the crush of slaves looking for release).  Meanwhile the slaves around you hold up their pikes and shovels in shouts of anger and cries of vengeance against Abdibaal and his guardsmen.  They continue to crowd forward awaiting (now Ludvik) release them from their chains.  None appear eager to drop their tools unless it is into the body of those who have brought them suffering.

Mob.  Is.  Riled.  Lookin'.  For.  Blood.
Weapon choices are slim:
- Manacles are heavy enough to serve as an Improvised Weapons.
- You can take a pick or shovel from one of the slaves via Disarm or beating the sot senseless.
- The um, the hammer and awl actually....actually were both weapons...gave you the stats for those in the Segment 12 - Results post
- Believe it or not, there are all different shapes of rocks here.  You can roll 1d6 to see if anything promising is nearby.
- Go take a truncheon from the guards above
- Nazarus has a nice looking, well-oiled whip...I'm pretty sure you have your eye on that.  Huh?

What's it gonna be?

Ludvik - You'll need to do 4 BODY of damage with the awl to knock the pin out of a slave's manacle and free their legs.  You can choose to free both legs or just one so they can move at full speed.  You'll only be able to hit 1 pin per Phase and you will need to make a roll to hit as conditions here are not exactly calm.

Damage Stunx STR Min Mass Fantasy Hero
Hammer 1d6-1 +1 8 1.0kg Hammer, Small
Awl 1/2d6 5 0.7kg Stilleto w/o armor piercing

DCV of pin is 2 due to the jostling, awl is used like a stiletto so you can use it without penalty.  With your 5 OCV you'll roll: 11+5-3d6 ->  16-3d6 and if you get 2 or higher you hit.

The awl has a STR Minimum of 5; for every 5 points over that of STR you use you can add 1 Damage Class (DC).  Right now your STR is only 8 from the toil of the pit so you won't be able to increase the damage but maybe in the future or with a different weapon you could.

No need for a location roll.

In summary:
1) Roll 16-3d6 and see if result is over 2
2) If it is, roll 1d3 for damage

Amalric pushes his way past the converging wretches and seeks out the next fool standing between him and his freedom.
