Re: Character Creation

Almaric
 - Psych Lim: Overprotective of Women (Very Common, Moderate) - 15 points.  You won't harm a woman or allow them to come to harm unless you have a good reason (like maybe they're an evil sorcerer trying to kill you).  Your first instinct would be to save a woman before a man or yourself.  You'd have to make an EGO to alter this behavior.  You could even increase to Strong level for another 5 points but at that point you're willing to take irrational actions to adhere to this code of conduct.

Re: Character Creation

Ludvik, think you'll need to decide if you want a warrior or a scholar.  Honestly we don't have anyone with an exceptional high Int or Ego so that might be a good niche for you to fill but only if it's what you want for him.

Regardless I'd go through and cut anything that is not central to the main role you see for your character.  Drop the "nice-to-haves".

Any suggestions on the build overall by the more experienced folks?

And that will be two of us in for rescuing the damsels in distress then Amalric!  Sounds like a good way for us to get into trouble.

Rescuing damsels in distress. Hah! Sarajen will ply them with wine and bed them as soon as he can. =D

Adjustments made in my previous sheet post.  I have elected to cut the martial arts etc. and go more solidly on the scholar and socialite.  It both suits my concept more anyway and appears to be what we need more.  I'm still aiming for him being a competent/trained leader of men ... just now he is the proverbial captain/officer who isn't as good at the actual fighting as his men.  Which come to think of it is pretty dead on in how REH depicted quite a few types in the Conan stories.  8P

It is not "inner party conflict" if she is all up for it. =D

No harm is being done. xD

Re: Character Creation

Amalric, I just realized that adding the Psyc Lim Overprotective of Women actually puts you over the 25 point limit for any one type of Complication since you already have Loyal for 15 points.

How about this instead: Reluctant to Harm Women (Common, Moderate).  Now you still won't strike them and could understandably be protective of them in general, but you won't go to great lengths to stop every injustice you see against women.

Regardless, you would still need 10 points, not 5.

Some thoughts:
- Distinctive Features: Branded, was he branded as a slave after he was caught and sent to the pit?  If it's easily concealable (like on his chest or back, covered by most clothing) it would be worth 5 points but if it's on his face or somehow only concealable by a major effort like use of the Disguise skill then it would be worth 10

- Enraged: When Honor Questioned or Innocents Harmed or ..., does something drive him mad with anger such that he will attack the cause?  To become enraged at an Uncommon situation/thing on an 8- and recover on 11- is worth 10 points

- Physical Complication: Old Wound, maybe he has an injury that has never fully healed and it flares up from time to time, Infrequent and Slightly Impairing is worth 10

- Rivalry: Tiberio, if he agrees perhaps you're none to fond of the Aquilonian (or pick anyone in the group really) and you seek to outdo, embarrass or humiliate them regularly.  If they are aware you've got a major chip on your shoulder where they're concerned it is worth 10 points

I am up for a Rivalry, just be double sure you want to take it, cause its likely to be brutal.

Sarajen will gladly sit by, eating his iguana on a stick, roasting it gingerly over the camp fire, while he watches the two big burly fellas bash each other over the head with their fists.

Re: Character Creation

Crom:
Ah, common mistake if you're familiar with earlier versions of Hero System.  Complications do not add additional points; they simply subtract points from the total should you take less than the required amount.

Since you do have to full 50 points of Complications you have 175 points for your character, not 225.

Also:
- Striking Appearance is basically +5 PRE with a -1/2 limitation to restriction on what skills/situations it can apply to.  As such it is subject to the cost doubling when this takes the character's PRE over 20.

- Are you only literate with your native language?  Just checking

- Each level of the Ancient Bloodlines Perk are cumulative.  So 2nd level would cost an additional 3 points for a total of 5

And now I'm nostalgic of the 5th Edition, with the Comeliness stat :p

Ok, I have updated the character on this thread, and uploaded a finished version of the HDC on the shared file.

I will be updating the Cast entry in a few moments.

Ok, done and done.

Sarajen is finished. The total package of stats, history and background, and complications can be found in the Cast section.

GM, let me know how it looks and if you feel I need to change anything.

You're starting off a slave in the Red Pit.  You have nothing but rags and whatever you take from your captors during your escape.

Re: Character Creation

Something confuses me about Berserk Fury. The 3d6 Aid part of the power should be 15 active points, not 18, correct?

And shouldn't the Damage Reduction portion have the limitation 'Costs END?'

Are we required to have a Fringe benefit for social standing?

Character Creation

It's a deeply character oriented thing.  Hard for me to give any suggestion, I would suggest you look above at all the provided Character sheets, there is a down side, which is a natural inclination to not do what someone else has done.

if you don't look, then it's all pure character construction.
