Okay, first, since Pinna went upstairs with the other two captives BEFORE Edmund came out of hiding and asked us if it was really a good idea for him to leave the castle and go to the village, then the way I see it, Talia's post happened in two maybe three different conversations, if we still want to keep Edmund's existence a secret.
Talia:
"Ah! Uhmm, alright." She looked around at her friends, comrades, and charges. There seemed a right path here, so she voiced her opinion. "Well, hmm, that all seems to depends on whether we wish the castle to be a base of operations. Hmmm..." She carefulyl considered the situation as best her mind could. She felt dull and sluggish even as she did so. Others here had much more brilliant minds and applicable skills. She? She only had her mother's words and the occasional aid of her ancestors. She looked around and her eyes settled on Pinna and something occurred to her, "I... think... we need a middle road. If we move forward with Edmund's claim, and I am inclined to do so, then having a secret base would be beneficial. Well, as secret as a castle can be. But if we want to use this place, fixing it up a bit seems reasonable. I certainly trust the others in Ashford to help out AND to keep this location a secret. But, perhaps, the fewer that know the location, the better? So, perhaps, only a small work crew? Does that make sense?"
This happened right when Edmund confronted us, but not in the presence of Pinna and the others.
Talia:
She looked at Pinna and Alyssa here as she knew they each had experience managing others. Talia had only ever been managed in a team of one working in her mother's smithy. "So you think. Perhaps, if we ask nicely, those willing to come work here could wear hoods? Ride in a wagon? That way, they don't know where it is? That's a stupid idea, isn't it? I mean, those attacking the village looking for us won't care, but they won't actually be able to say anything, right? Or.. or? We can ask some who would be willing to settle here for a time? we'd need a chef, perhaps mom and one of the carpenter's apprentices to mend things? DO we have a mason in Ashford? Some stout lads to mount a watch?" She grinned at Alyssa and Yry, "Or stout lasses."
This happened obviously in Pinna's presence, so most likely when we went back upstairs to talk with Pinna.
Talia:
That all seemed to be about as much as her overheated mind could come up with concerning the castle. Looking again at Edmund, she shook her head: "Villagers will find out about you eventually and I won't keep such a secret from them. The location of the castle, surely a small thing, but that we are plotting a coup? It endangers their lives as surely as yours, Milord. Again, the miscreants that hunt us to the village will care not that they did not know of you. No, eventually, perhaps, it might be best to more or less move a larger portion here? There's room enough for a large enough group." Talia cringed then as she realized she was close to suggesting the village relocate. She knew many would not want to even if the castle would be safer. But, in the end, Talia was a honest sort of person and cared for them. She shook her head, "No, the village might keep a secret from the world, but I will not keep it from them." She looked to the others to hear their thoughts then as her nerves finally sealed her mouth shut with the glue of nerves.
And this happens obviously back in Edmund's presence, so either it happened before we all went upstairs to talk with Pinna, or it happened in a third conversation when we went back downstairs to talk with Edmund.
So, sorry for totally picking apart your whole post, Talia, but if this is going to be a game of politcal intrigue and such, then I think it's important to establish at the outset if we're blowing Edmund's cover to the three captives at the very beginning, or are we following his lead (and what we've kinda decided ourselves anyway) by keeping his true identity a secret?
