Lucius - what's the Prayer move you're using?  I can't find it anywhere...

I love the decision that Lazarus currently has to make. I am still not sure what he is going to do, but I feel like it is going to be something big. At least from his own perspective.

I think it makes sense for me to wait and see what information Istvan decides to share, and how, before I make my next post. This is all very exciting!

Istvan is actually feeling slightly positive about this situation. It's gone from "not releasing prisoners, but lying to encourage a plan based on blasphemy" to "something inhuman wants to kill us almost immediately, very likely by attempting to use brute force." Istvan feels that this dramatic change in the situation now directly addresses his team's core competencies.

Considering having Istvan run over and work on trying to heal Lucius

(I know it probably seems obvious that he'd want my healing help but for all I know he's about to try some weird combat move that could get extra dangerous for those right next to him or something?)

I was planning on a daring combat maneuver :) but the kind that endangers only myself.

But since you have now lost like at least a third of your health I am thinking about trying it anyway unless anyone stops me...

So I guess the next question is "GM do I need to Defy Danger to run up to Lucius to start trying to heal him, or not so much?"

Lucius, were you going to use your Hold from your Defend move? Halving that attack seems like it may have been a good use of that Hold.

Huh. I thought you could only spend hold when the target of your Defend is attacked, but apparently it also works for yourself. So yeah I will!

Question, how does 'halving the attack' work with damage and armor? Do you round up or down and do you apply the halving to the damage before or after armor?

My internal debate here is whether or not Lucius can spend his hold at the same moment that he earned it.  But I'm leaning toward yes, and if I need an excuse for it I'll say "because it's part of his special paladin ability."  So yeah, go ahead and take half damage.  Which I'm interpreting to mean "half of what the GM rolled, rounding up, before applying armor."

Now then, as for the plan of action, I'm thinking Lucius's grab is DD+Dex, and by default Istvan is safe but if Lucius rolls badly then he might get caught up in the consequences.  Make sense to you guys?

Was my magic missile effective? Was I exposed to any dangers from my 7-9 roll option?

Sorry, I was focused on the other thing and forgot that you had made such a deliberate diversion.  The missile did strike and did do damage, but it didn't stop the owl.  I've edited the last post to take this into account.

Um, pronoun trouble. Apparently "he" above meant Istvan. I did not believe that to be the case.

The whole point of me waiting, the whole reason I was announcing what Istvan was maybe thinking about doing, was to make it clear that Istvan was NOT going to do it if Lucius was going to try to do something exactly like what he did, because I had a feeling that he would, and that it would go badly.

So when he did, and when his roll went badly, I thought "well thank goodness I held back so that Istvan won't be near Lucius."

...and yet.

D'oh.  I apologize for my lack of clarity.  I suppose I could say that Istvan will get to his feet a little more easily than Lucius, and drop the -1 penalty.
