Re: Explorers: Hunt for the Goblins

Noting Mkaniua's discomfort, Barlo turned back to Arn and said, "I'll go down the passage with you, back you up. Does someone have a second dagger I can borrow?"

DM: how high and wide is the passage? Will Barlo be duck-walking it or can he stand up without risk to his scalp?

Width -- perhaps about 7 feet; height -- 6 feet, so Barlo will need to stoop a bit.

Re: Explorers: Hunt for the Goblins

Zaryk draws one of his daggers and hands it to Barlo.

"It might be better to let Arn and I scout ahead, Barlo. We won't need a torch to look down the corridors at the intersection."

If Barlo disagrees, Zaryk will acquiesce. If not, he will nock an arrow and accompany Arn, moving quietly to the intersection.

Barlo took the dagger with a nod of thanks, but he paused to let Arn scout ahead, withdrawing slightly as to not have the torch ruin Arn's dark sight.

Arn, trailed by Barlo, traveled down the passageway.  The whole place seemed to have an increasingly stronger odor of refuse and other waste as they left the clean air of outside further behind.

Zaryk stands just inside the doorway, bow in hand, arrow nocked. He keeps an eye on Arn as the stealthy elf moves slowly down the corridor.

Re: Explorers: Hunt for the Goblins

Arn moves as stealthily as he can down the corridor. When he reaches the end, he will pop his head around the corner to take a quick look, looking both sides and then quickly moving back. If he sees nothing immediately threatening (e.g. something like a goblin with an arrow notched and ready to fire), he will take a 2nd, longer look. If either side that might be more dangerous, for example, has goblins visible, he will look at that side first.

Annya did the same as Zaryk, but on the other side of the doorway from him;  like Neroli bookends, if you will.   Ready to feather any foe who tried to menace the intrepid half-elf rogue...

Arn moves his head back out of view. He looks at Barlo points to his ears and then holds his finger up to his lips. He then looks down the hallway and waves to the others.

Barlo pointed at the door before him and moved his mouth as if speaking and pointed meaningfully to the door. He holds up two then hesitantly, three fingers before making a "talking" mime with his hand.

Zaryk glances at Makaniua and Annya and whispers, [Language unknown: Ck resreatin il mock wadi ng kor a riesil! Butartenc ameng ntisanous, ce redeauvir.]

Zaryk moves down the corridor, as quietly as possible. He will stop when level with Barlo.

I can't quite figure where everyone is located! I'm assuming Zaryk, Annya, and Makaniua are near the door (bottom of map); Barlo is somewhere between the door and the first intersection, and Arn is at the first intersection.

Barlo, unwilling to leave a potential enemy behind them, put away the borrowed dagger and drew his longsword. Using his Ranger abilities, he opened the door before him quietly and (if they are indeed goblins) he sprang upon them hoping for surprise!

15:17, Today: Barlo rolled 9 using 1d20+1. (if Goblins, 13)

15:17, Today: Barlo rolled 6 using 1d20. Dagger, goblins, 10

15:17, Today: Barlo rolled 4 using 1d20+1.

15:16, Today: Barlo rolled 3 using 1d6.  Surprise.

Or, then again, Barlo might simply be suicidal.

DM: should these not be goblins, Barlo will hesitate to re-assess.

Explorers: Hunt for the Goblins

Barlo burst into the room from which small bits of undecipherable conversation had come, to find himself in the midst of three ink-black goblins with hair unevenly dyed a rather muddy purple.  From the looks of things, they were supposed to be doing something other than what they had been doing--dice and coins scattered as they took to their feet, the chance of surprise thoroughly spoiled by the swing of the door into the room.

As Barlo sprang upon them, his sword did manage to strike down one goblin even as it had just gotten its hand around its spear.  The other two ducked, but the efforts of avoiding Barlo and gathering their spears meant that Barlo was easily able to avoid the points of the spears.

The stone room was fairly decently sized--a good estimate would be ten feet from the door to the far wall and fifteen from side to side, a welcome increase in space from the five feet width of the hallway.

Arn, Zaryk, Annya, and Makaniua all made their way toward the door that Barlo had just gone through.

Zaryk na'Liluth rolled 20 hitting AC 0 for 5 damage.

Makaniua kept her bow at ready. Judging the in room situation as "in hand" she kept watch on the other two paths while waiting.
