Castaways:  This Old House

Aboard the Ananke
Determined that it was best that they not leave their ship entirely unguarded, Telemachus, Wick and Jade remained aboard while the rest of their number went ashore to find Panatix.

Ashore
Moving ashore, the group--Lenelle, Storm, Teodoin, Vendavel, and Westin--made their way into the house.  Nothing seemed to have changed in their absence.  Fortunately, that included the open trapdoor in the room that had been used as a bunkroom, and they were able to make their way back out to the grounds of the house.

Waiting on the others to accomplish their mission, Wick puts his time into checking the ropes and sails to see if there's any repairs that needs to be made.

Seeing movement at the house, Panatix is startled at first.  When he sees someone he recognizes, he wonders how the devil they snuck past him and got to the house unseen.

He moves over casually so as not to create a bad reaction, "Some watchdog I am, you got right past under my very nose and into the house without my seeing a thing.  I was going to report that all has been quiet but I'm not sure I can be trusted on that account!".

"Whew, glad to see you are alive and well Panatix. You know you really gave us a scare when you disappeared! Didn't know what had happened to you. We guessed and believe me, it was a guess, that you were here but it was far from certain. Will you please, please, please say something next time before you disappear?" Westin says earnestly, a look of pain in his elvish eyes.

"As for us sneaking in here without your knowing, we came in from the sea so if you weren't keeping an eye on it, that's why. The Ananke is at the interior landing below along with Telemachus and Wick. Wasn't sure we were going to be able to find it. It's protected by a high quality illusion. We might had to have gone on without stopping if Vendavel had not detected a small oddity in the illusion."

"So you didn't see anyone while we were gone? Any sign of Dak?"
Westin asks hopefully.

"I don't suppose you had a chance to search for any books, did you?" Westin adds.

"No, I just watched the house from the woods, no sign of anything, either in or near the house."

Vendavel was glad to see the gnome alive and well, but she was a bit worried about the whole experience – it seemed odd that he had just dashed away without warning.
"Let's not waste more time then, we go back to the ship and make our way North."
