'my seductions has lacunae' verbally stops Pathwyn in her tracks, leaving her momentarily speechless.  Her Calandian isn't flawless, but she can usually figure out meaning from context.

It does sound like Alvador has a plan for the staff.

"Veja tells me that you'll be fine after a meal, a good night's sleep, and a stiff dose of divine healing."

It worried Pathwyn that Hewney felt 'the jobs're done.'  They still had Gwysol's books to deliver after this and Pathwyn doubted she could hold the group together long without him.  She had no authority, and the others were growing tired of her 'plans'. But maybe Hewney was right.  He would be the perfect choice to take over Eliphas' operation and give Farnworth stability and security after they rid the town of Cannibal's gang.  She just wasn't going to be the one to suggest it.

Dak slid from the saddle and threw the reins over over the fence rail.  He made sure the ground stopped moving before he released his hold of the fence.

"Stay," he instructed the horse.  He was feeling more like a horseman all the time.

He started off gingerly in the direction of the farm house in order to knock and propose a trade of food and lodging in exchange for coins.

Alvador said A moment, please, Dak. He looks at Hewney to judge that he meant what he said. Then he looks at Pathwyn. A group should have a leader, one who is decisive with an agile mind and good memory...and who listens. "Boss" may not be the most descriptive word; but, Pathwyn, I nominate you for boss.

The burden of leadership seemed to have been lifted from his shoulders. He hadn't hated it, but it felt good to be free of it as well.

"I second that suggestion Alvador, Pathwyn would make a fine leader, seems to me."

"The leader doesn't get a bigger share, do they?" Dak asked shrewdly before making a decision on leadership.  He was thinking there would be a lot more killing under the blood priestess' reign.

I would think not. Rather, I think what coins and goods are accumulated should be used as best helps the party's capabilities, and then each receiving an allowance for individual expenses.

Smiling at Dak's concern, Hewney saw that in some ways they were very much alike. A larger share would almost make the more difficult task of leadership tempting.

Pathwyn blinked.  This sure happened suddenly out of nowhere.

"Now I can count 'Lady of the Forhorns' on my list of accomplishments next time I sign on as a ship's navigator," she chuckled.  "That ought to impress them."

"We'll all get the same share, don't worry.  Now let's find out if these farmer like silver and strangers."

Letting his horse fall in behind the mount of the Lady of the Foghorns, Hewney crossed his fingers and said a small prayer to Emele in hopes that nothing else tried to kill him this day. As things stood, they would no doubt succeed.

Once the matter of leadership had been resolved, they saw two men--one clearly older than the other, both dressed in common russet tunic and trousers, a stout club at the waist of each--leaving the building which appeared to be a barn.

"How fare you?" said the older man, whose hair was well grizzled, though hints of the rich brown of the younger man were still present.

As Alvador looked about, he did not see much else of note.  It appeared that the chickens had been brought in to roost already, and the farm looked typical of any other farm in the early days of Amaya.

In reply to DM (msg # 54):

Hewney eyes the two men cautiously. Do they seem well fed? Over fed? Do they appear to have gone hungry of late?

He limits himself to observing at this point however, leaving first contact to their newly elected Captain.

Unless there's an overlong awkward pause, Pathwyn intends to let Dak talk to the farmers.  He took the initiative to do so, after all, and he's plenty capable.

"All is well," Dak replied to the older man.  "We were hoping to find a place to stay for the night and a few meals in return for some asil.

"Would your farm be able to help us with that?"

He was actually glad to see they carried clubs as it meant they weren't ones to be pushed around.  Less likely to be scurrying to town with information on their new guests.

"My name is Dak and it's nice to meet the both of you," Dak replied with a smile to the two men.  "We're on our way to Farnham in the morning to conclude some business we took on in Shipton.

"We ran afoul of a little trouble on the way here and wanted to be fresh upon our arrival tomorrow."

Although he wanted to, he was reluctant to ask of news from Farnham.  They may already be suspicious of his tale if they'd already seen them heading into town that morning or returning just now from that direction.

Slipping from his horse, the half-elf pulls an apple out of his pouch and feeds it to his mount as the others talk. He often found being on foot seemed less threatening, and besides, his arse was sore.

He would wait until things were more settles to unsaddle the creature, and begin brushing it down. He intended to check the hooves tonight for wear, or any stone, it had been awhile.

"That will be fine," Dak assured the old man his offer was acceptable.  Dak wasn't quite sure what the offer was because of the man's irregular speech pattern, but it sounded good enough for the night.

"What do you mean about Farnworth not being a good place," he asked, following up on the lead.  "Is there a plague or something we should be aware of?"

"Isn't there a sheriff or something to keep the peace?" Dak asked, trying to figure out what it was supposed to be like.  He was really looking for a way to resolve the town's issues without resorting to Pathwyn's preferred method.
