What We Know

As you probably have guessed, the answer is very little.  They’ve managed to both be public and private at the same time, playing show & tell while actually revealing very little, if anything, about themselves.   We know virtually nothing about their technologies, their weapons, their ship propulsion systems, and we know even less about them physiologically.  From the looks of things, if we want to know more about them, we’re going to have to find it out for ourselves.

- Voice:  Possibly the strangest aspect of the visitors, but easily the most recognizable.  The resonant, almost choral like sound to their voices is unmistakable.  It has been called reminiscent of a two-part vocal harmony.  They claim that a second set of vocal chords exists in their species, thus giving them this unique tonal sound.  If this is true, then they cannot alter the sound of their voices, eliminating their ability to plant spies…at least of their own kind anyway.

- Unknown Diet:  Not a single visitor has ever been sighted eating and will religiously turn down any food offered to them.  They claim that they have different dietary requirements from humans, which is a fair statement, but then why the secrecy when they eat?   Again, no one has ever seen them eat, not a one.  This cannot be a coincidence.

- Light Sensitivity:  As you have seen, they all wear protective eye-wear or full visors.  As we know, their home world (or at least the planet they claim is there’s) is further from their respective sun and thus their eyesight is more hindered by light, natural or artificial.  They’ve even been seen to have some difficulty in low-light settings, such as stores and restaurants.  Whether or not the reverse is true, that their vision in extreme, near dark conditions is enhanced, is unknown and has not been reported.

- Enhanced Strength:  Reports from those who’ve engaged with the visitors physically have told of a higher than expected level of strength from them.  This appears to be true of both male and female.  While it’s nothing like superman, so no bending iron or surviving falls, they all seem to possess just a slightly higher level of basic strength than us humans.  However, as some footage has shown, that doesn’t mean you can’t knock one down.

- Animals:  Most animals seem rather neutral when it comes to the visitors.  Dogs and other large animals treat them with slight apprehension, no doubt to the strange odors they must possess to an animal, but in no time return to their usual mannerisms.  The lone exception appears to be birds.  Whenever a visitor is nearby, any bird within the vicinity will immediately become agitated.  Free birds will simply fly away, en masse, while caged birds go into a panic and begin flying and thrashing about their cages savagely.  This may be an angle we can exploit but no tests have been done, that we know of, so the range these birds can sense them is still unknown and currently appears to vary wildly.

- Cold Resistance:  Whatever their physiological makeup is, it sure was designed to resist the cold.  While none of the visitors have been subjected to any real world stress tests, anecdotal reports have repeatedly told of their amazing ability to withstand unheard of levels of cold, the likes of which would kill a human in minutes.  In one particular case, a visitor is reported to have raced into a chamber with a liquid nitrogen leak and survived unscathed; not even a hint of frostbite.  The most surprising part, however, is that this visitor had risked his life (or not) to rescue another worker, a human worker, who was in the chamber at the time of the leak.  We’re not certain if this was a case of actual altruism or simply a nice public show of face but it would be nice to think there might be some among them that could be of help.  This does seem to have a trade-off as they intentionally shun intense heat and large amounts of exposure to direct sunlight.  The strange part is that, despite them walking around in those heavy suits, not a drop of sweat ever seems to form.

- Energy Based Weapons:  Footage has shown the massive amount of damage and destruction the visitors’ weapons can cause.  The larger ‘guns’ mounted on their crafts are by far the most destructive, the limits of which we still don’t fully know.  Their respective small arms, rifle and pistol, are no less dangerous.  With refined control systems, they can alter the intensity of the blast.  This allows them to stun targets at the very least, and has been seen to burn whole chunks from people at higher levels.  There is one silver lining…recharge.  Between each blast the weapon must recharge, or something to that effect.  The stronger the blast, the longer it seems to take it to recharge.  Another note…whatever the discharge is from these weapons, it doesn’t seem to play well no matter what it touches.  At higher energy levels, the projectile (if that’s even an appropriate term) explodes on impact.  We’re still very uncertain as to how this works or what level of devastation it has on objects.
