The Main Work Area
Daniel is making a big deal of feeling sick today. Feels like he's trying to establish a justification for calling in sick tomorrow...

Karen, seeing it coming, is already irritated with him for feeling (or acting) sick...

Just before lunchtime, Karen makes an announcement. "All right, we're actually back on track, and we might even get this project completed on time. I want to talk to you about your next assignment... Alison, Daniel, Jacob, Kiara, I know you four will be reassigned to the new project soon... It's something the Accounting department needs help with... very hush-hush NDA stuff. I'm going to need someone for the following roles, and while of course I'll just assign them however I want, I'm checking for volunteers first-- I need some people to be:

--In charge of reviewing some hard-copy paperwork
--In charge of working with some computer files
--In charge of being a courier between offices
--In charge of doing some interviews

Any volunteers for these?"

Kiara mentally rolls her eyes at Karen's 'I'll assign how I want comment. "Oh please. She's only asking so she knows what we want to do so she can put us in a different position. She thinks as she raises her hand slightly. "I volunteer for the courier position. "

"Oh, I do love working with people," Jacob said, with his usual wry smile. "I'll take the interview job."

"That's fine," says Karen... "...Alison? Daniel? Got a preference for the paperwork or the computer files...?"

Re: The Main Work Area
Alison shrugged, like it mattered at this point, she would have preferred either of the other two rather than desk duty with MORE files to go through, whether they were hard copy or digital. Still it was too late to do anything about that now. Interviews would have been best, its not like she didn't have the people skills to handle interviews, and at least you'd get to meet people from different departments as a courier.

"Do you have a preference?" She asked David. "Or we could alternate so as to get a little less eye strain by moving between screens and paper?"

"Mm, I'd prefer you stick to one job each," says Karen, because Karen is an unreasonable jerk...

"Well, considering the concrete placments. I can deal with the computer end of things. If that helps you at all, Alison." Daniel said inbetween sipping some hot, liquid cough medicine he was nursing. He left it in his desk for such occasions like the one he found himself in right now, needing to work through illness.

Karen gives Daniel a look. ...Concrete placments...? she silently mouths to herself...

Daniel Rayner:

Karen eyes the liquid cough medicine. Ah, her expression says. Maybe that explains it. Wow, maybe he really is sick...

"Okay then..." says Karen. "Then perhaps you can handle the computer files..." ...When you're well... her expression silently says... "And I'll put you on the paperwork when the time comes, Alison," Karen says. She pointedly does not add if that's all right with you, Alison, because Karen is a jerk.
