Telos IV: The Beginning
HK-13 had been deactivated for a long time. But suddenly he felt electrons coursing through his circuitry. The first thing that was fully reactivated were his audio sensors. He could hear the deep rumblings of the Ithorian droid shop owner who currently owned him. He said in very halting and accented Basic: "Are you sure you want this one? He's dangerous."
That phrase seemed to trigger memory accesses in HK-13's memory banks. HK-13 remembered people running and screaming, and someone shouting "Shut it down! Shut it down!"
The memory ended, and HK-13 could hear another voice speaking in Basic answering the droid shop owner: "Then he's perfect for my next mission. I'm going to need some protection and some firepower.”
HK-13's visual sensors activated next. As they did he could sense within his visual range a middle-aged white Human male with a neatly trimmed brown beard and short brown hair looking over him. He appeared well groomed, with a fashionable cape draped over his shoulders.
HK-13's upper body locomotion powered up, allowing him to sit up. When he did, the Ithorian droid shop owner also moved into view. "Well, I'll need you to sign some waivers before you purchase it."
"Gladly," the Human replied and moved closer to the Ithorian, who was holding out a datapad. HK-13's systems continued to come on line as the purchase was finalized.
"Okay," the Ithorian said. "It's official, the droid is yours. To be honest, I'll be glad to be rid of that one." He came over and removed a restraining bolt that had been attached to HK-13's torso. The Ithorian seemed to flinch after removing the restraining bolt.
"I am Lor San Tekka," the Human said in introduction. "What is your designation?"
